Bent iphone 5s

What's the cost to change a bent iphone 5s still in warranty and if the current price will drop trough time?

I have apple care +. Discovered my 1.5 year old iPhone 5 was bent when I noticed the low volume button didn't work last week. Went to an Apple store this weekend and they replaced it at no cost/no questions asked.

  • How can we get Apple to address bent iPhone 5 problem?

I have a bent iPhone 5. The device had gentle wear and was enclosed in protective case. AT&T told me the bending indicates a manufacturer's defect and I should get a replacement from Apple, but Apple's online and Apple Store representatives refuse to accept responsibility. They will not acknowledge that the alumiumum frame is inherently fragile, more so than previous iPhone frames, and the device requires a higher level of caution.
Consumers around the world report the same problem. See below.

Apple promoted this device in part as a triumph of engineering. Thinner, yet very strong.
So what does it take to pressure Apple to acknolwedge this product defect? And make good with its customers?

Shame on you apple!  I have been an avid Apple fanboy for years.  I have owned all iterations of the iPhone except the iPhone 4.  I have always believed in your products.  I have sold five times as many of your products by word of mouth than I have bought, and believe me, I have owned pretty much anything with your logo on it that has been produced in the last eight years.  You were always a little bit behind the cutting edge, but I always bought your products because they simply worked.  Under the reign of Steve Jobs you did a superb job ensuring your products became extensions of the human body, synchronously living our day to day lives with us, device in hand.
Then I bought the iPhone 5.  From the first second, I  was a proud owner of a new idevice.  It immediately was placed in an Otterbox, where is stayed between cleanings.  When in the car or at work, it sat in a dock.  When carrying it, it was religiously carried in my front pockets.  Then when I took it out to clean last week, I noted my phone was bent.  Everything works fine.  Except for the contour of my leg impressed into the phone.  It is immaculate.
After a few minutes of searching the web, I was overcome by the numbers of blog posts, discussion board posts, and even youtube videos chronicling the woes of once happy iPhone 5 owners who are distraught about the conditions of their 200 to 400 dollar relatively new phones which are bent.  After visiting the apple store and being shunned by the manager, I was beginning to get the feeling that this was not the same apple company that would stand behind their product as they did in the past.  Apple's official response is that they do not cover physical damage resulting from abuse to the phone.  They do not consider their flubbed soft phone as a manufacturer's defect.  I was offered to repair my phone for 229 dollars.  It's not that I don't have the money.  I refuse to pay that on principle.  Again, shame on you apple!
After speaking with management in their technical support department, I was offered a 50 dollar credit to use at the apple store on a new product.  I was essentially told they apologized for my inconvenience, but there is nothing they can do.  And oh by the way, you can't use the certificate towards the repair.
So at they point, I have lost all faith in Apple.  I have seen the gap between Apple and Android rapidly closing.  The apple ecosystem it seems has simply grown too large.  They have forgotten the roots laid by Steve Jobs in which the bottom line was user experience, not profit.  The adage, if you build it, they will come was what made you the juggernaut you have become.
My stable of Apple products is getting old.  It is time to replace my original iPad and the seven year old iMac in the office isn't too far behind.  Unfortunately, the sour Apple which I have recently eaten has me looking towards Google and its products.  Their cloud based products are getting pretty cool and my 1000 plus employee company has just made that jump also.  Migration is making more and more sense.  It is no wonder your stock price has gone down around 400 dollars a share and your earnings remain flat.
I am putting this out there in the hopes it is actually read and heard.  Leaving you, Apple, it one of the hardest breakups of my life.  I hope you change, I do!  I would still take you back if you got back on track, only I am skeptical that you won't be able to see past the arrogance you have developed now that you are too big for your britches.

  • Will apple replace my slightly bent iphone 6?

I bought my iphone 6 about 1 month ago, and recently i notice it is a little bent.
Its not a big issue and the phone still works it just looks really weird and im worried it might get worse.
I didn't put the phone in my back pocket at all or try to bend it in any way so im pretty sure its not my fault.
If i take this to apple will they replace/fix my phone for free?

Mine has a slight bend as well and I have honestly absolutely no idea how it happened.  Never ever had any sort of damage to a phone, iPod, iPad in the past as I OCD in looking after my stuff.   Was disappointed at the response I got from Apple Genius and subsequently the Apple store manager.  They said that Apple policy is NOT to replace ANY iPhone 6 or 6 Plus with any sort of bend in it,.  I was told to write to Apple in Ireland if I was still not happy.  That was a complete waste of time as they eventually replied saying that my issue was a Technical Support one and that they did not provide technical support through written correspondence.  My Letter clearly stated that I had been through the technical support route and that they had told me to contact Apple directly.  All in all very disappointed.
As far as I am concerned the iPhone six plus has some sort of flaw that means in certain conditions it is susceptible to bending.  They said it would have taken considerable force to bend an iPhone and my reply is if that is the case then surely I would be well aware of it happening.
I love Apple products though my recent iPhones and iMacs have not been as reliable as my previous products.  I take great care of them and having spent many thousands of pound every year on Apple products I am very disappointed with the lack of support on this issue.
I anybody does know anyone who has had a bent iPhone 6 replaced then I would be very interested to know about it.   Apple did say one of the places I was to seek help was on this forum.
Must say that, apart from the bend, I have had no other issues with my iPhone, and loving the camera especially.
    Many thanks   Iain

  • Will Apple replace a bent iPhone 6?

Will Apple replace a bent iPhone 6?

They ought to.  I'm going to find out when I visit the store this week.
The bend on my iPhone 6 is directly under the volume buttons. I noticed it today. I didn't believe this was a common problem. I thought it would only happen if abused. But my iPhone 6 is now bent. I have a case on it. I kept it in my purse, in it's own pocket, or on my desk at home.  Now I've got to take it to the Apple store and hope for a nice "Genius." The idea of having to pay for the damage, after taking good care of it and only owning it for 2 weeks, is really frustrating.
I hope everyone with this problem makes it known somewhere online because Apple ought to be responsible for the design flaw. Maybe they could reinforce that area in future production.

  • Bent iPhone 6 on Next Plan

If I file an insurance claim for a bent iPhone 6 on the Next plan will it be replaced? According to this its $199 through Asurion compared to $299 through the Apple store. http://www.att.com/shopcms/media/att/2013/shop/wireless/documents/wireless-phone-insurance-deductible-schedule.pdf

If you have insurance, you pay the deductible and get a replacement phone from Asurion.
Will Apple replace the phone or is that the subsidized pricing?

  • Bent iPhone 6 plus?

So, today i realised I had a bent iPhone, I took it to the Apple Store and they pretty much said its my fault and they won't replace it. Has anyone had a bent iPhone and done anything about it? Apple are always really good with this sort of stuff, but this time they have disappointed me.

Didn't say the excessive force was applied at the same time as you noticed your leg was cut.  But excessive force was applied at some point.
Now, whether or not the force that was applied was excessive to the normal tolerances or not is debatable, but it's extremely unlikely that your particular unit had a defect that caused structural issues.  All of the 6s & 6 Pluses I manage have had no such issues, and my guys aren't always as careful as I'd like them to be.  But it's within the realm of possibility.
But that's like saying it's in the realm of possibility that I'll win the same lottery twice in a row.  Probably on the order of 2 to the power of 2,079,460,347:1
Like I said, your starting point is that you have to pay the OOW fee.  If Apple offers anything above and beyond that, it's a gift, not something that you're entitled to get.

  • I have a bent iphone 5 ?

i got my phone on release day, and after setting up it put it in my back pocket, i never usally put it in there just my other pockets were full with my car keys and now light as air wallet,
after going to fit a case i finally tracked down i noticed there was a scratch at the top and a bend in the middle of the "-" volume button, some people have been reporting some issues but i woundered if anyone else has experienced this ?
i took it back to the apple store the next day and told me that it couldnt have come out the box like that and its my fault and if it wanted it fixed it would cost me £170 and other than that there was nothing else they would do
does anyone have any suggestions  ?
surley the glass should bend  if it was so called "gorilla Glass "
    thanks

I owned a bent iPhone up until last week. Apple Care and the Apple Store advised me that I damaged my phone. I do not deny that my phone bent from being placed in my front pocket as I transported my 3G, 3Gs, and 4 for the past few years. I understand that the phone was under pressure in my pocket, but sacrificing normal use for a lighter and thinner phone is something that Steve Jobs would not have sacrificed. Look how long it look for multi-tasking. It was not because it was a difficult function, but it was due to the user experience along with the factors of the battery life and other impacts. I was advised that my phone was now out of warranty and it would cost around $200 to replace. Ugh! I just paid $200 phone for the phone less than days before I realized my phone was bent.
Thankfully I pre-ordered my phone from WalMart. As much as I hate going to WalMart and getting rid of this phone, I love there return policy and willingness to let me return the phone before my 30 day warranty was up. Even more, I now own a 4s, that will not bend under normal use and does not sacifice usability.

  • Has anyone heard of a bent iPhone? My 32GB iPhone4 is bent.

Glass is straight, no damage to it on either side at all; the aluminum's bent. When looking at phone in your hand as if you were using it, it's bent at the upper L corner. It wasn't sat upon, dropped, nothing. I plugged it in to charge it before I went to bed one evening & I woke up & it was bent. I didn't notice it at 1st, but the button at the bottom seemed to have a deeper crevice. When I began getting what I thought were dropped called, I realized my eyes weren't playing tricks on me; the phone is actually bent.
I've searched online to no avail, gone to the AT&T store (useless) and all the latter could say was that they'd seen a couple of iPhones come in like that, but they didn't work & the glass had been shattered.
Absolutely everything works, even the phone BUT neither party can hear each other. Incoming calls for me are the same, phone rings, photo comes up, etc. No sound. Help! I'd love to keep my phone, as my contract w/AT&T ended & I'm very happy w/the phone otherwise. Battery life is still very good & I don't want the upgrade. I seriously doubt Apple store would replace it, as it's nearly 2 1/2 years old. A very tech-savvy friend said it seemed like the speaker components for the phone were sizzled; still, all ringtones work, Pandora works...I'm stymied.
Any help at all is greatly appreciated~I plan to get to an Apple Genius Bar asap, but thought perhaps someone here could be helpful

It is very strange. I've had folks look at me with the 'rolling eyeballs' when I said I never, ever put my phone in my pocket. I never put anything in my pocket(s), especially rear pockets. My overcoat has pockets on the inside which I do use when I don't need my purse. But, after having $600 stolen out of pocket once on a subway, and another time $180 while in an elevator, I just don't put anything other than a chapstick (doesn't leak) in my pockets. I keep my phone with my wallet in my purse. I never even had a cell til' I was nearly 40~so, I'm not 'addicted' to it, lol.
I'd consider a refurb, I actually like the iPhone4 & 4S better than the iPhone5. I just don't want another contract, but, at least I have options. Thank you for all your help, and helping me chuckle about it! Perhaps I've subconsciously living out my own rebellion through my phone; yet again, it probably is smarter than I and is having a great time at my expense.
I'll post back with the update & what Apple did/didn't do for me...oh the bliss~

  • My iPhone have bent (iphone 6 plus 64g)

I have a bent iphonee. Not a huge bend but easily perceptible.  What can I do?
Considering that I was really prudent and the iPhone was in an official iphone cover.
Please help me cause I'm pretty disappointed. I am with Apple since iPod touch 2. Never that kind of problem, and always a good warranty.
    (Iphone 6 plus)
    Thanks
    (I have apple care)
    Philippe Lebel

    iPhone doesn't bend itself.
So it user damage, which warranty do not cover unless you have AppleCare +.

  • Help! bent iphone 4

i have a iphone 4, which over time has bent due to its battery heating up like crazy causing the metal bezel to bend over time, the front and back is shattered becouse of this, it didnt really bother to much until last week it kept saying "no sim"?? so i restored it to ios 6.1 from itunes. now its stuck on the activation screen.  i called up apple care and they made me do a full restore again while on the phone to them but still no luck stuck on the sim activation. the women from apple care told me i had 2 months warranty left and my iphone had a hardware issue and booked me a appointment with the genius bar. i wanted to know if the iphone being bent will affect my warranty? as it was not my fault?????
    thanks

An iphone 4 is made of glass and metal they would not simply bend from the heat of a battery being charged???
If the battery started to expand like those on the 3GS causing damage to the phone as a result then yes, they would open the phone i assume and check the battery for signs of failure. If the battery looks and tests ok then your out of luck.
EDIT: you should post some pics of your phone, that would give some idea as to the cause.

  • IPhone 6's anodized aluminum enclosure came out bent from box

    Hi;
I am live in Turkey and I bought new Apple iPhone 6 eight days ago. Next day one of my friends realized my phone's anodized aluminum enclosure bent. I was sure it is not my fault so I decided to reach Apple Support. After 1 day I finally able to reach a staff. He told me to send pictures of my bent iphone to him and I did. Today I call him again and he told me it is obviously not a customer fault but still my warranty doesn't cover this kind of issue.
I am using Apple iPhone since iPhone 2 came out and recommend everybody to get one. But I think I am not do that anymore.
Can anyone suggest me what am I suppose to do?
(Sorry about my bad Englsh. It's not my native language but I hope I could explain my problem.)

Thanks for the reply. I guess you're right but at the same time, I kind of had this inside urge of wanting to know what other people thought. Anyway, I'm bringing it in to an Apple store tomorrow to get it checked out so one last question. Do you happen to know if I would need to bring in the box with the charger, adapter, and earpods included? Well, probably not the earpods since I've used them.

  • IPhone 6 bending - can I do anything about it?!

I have had my phone for just a couple months and its bent. What do I do! Very upset . The person I was chatting with (Erick, case # 733004901) was no help and the chat was disconnected.
Now chatting with Erick, case # 733004901
ErickThanks for contacting AppleCare chat support. My name is Erick. How can I help you?
Me:hi i have had my phone for a couple months now and there is a bend in the phone.
    Me:i just noticed it yesterday
ErickOk so if I understand the issue correctly your iPhone is bent. Is that correct.
    Me:yes
The issue of a bent iPhone is regarded as accidental damage to the iPhone. And a Out of warranty fee is needed to fix this issue.
Me:even if i have only had the phone for a couple of months
    Me:?
Me:i put the phone in my pocket, i dont sit on it so i am not really sure how this even happned
    how much is the fee
ErickThe out of warranty fee for the iPhone 6 is $299.
    Me:so thats it
Me:i just have to pay the 300 to fix it
and i have only had it 2 months
ErickCorrect that would be the only option that we have.
Me:i've never heard of a phone bending
Me:ive had an iphone since they came out and this is my first issue like this

basically, you need to bring it to an Apple Store.

  • My iPhone 6 has started bending not massively but can be seen if looked at, I've only had the phone less then a month which I'm disappointed about as I've paid £619 for it, can you advise me on what to do?

    iphone6 has started bent... HELP!!!

My iPhone 6 is also bent, on the top of the phone. Here is my sad story...
I had the phone in my coat pocket and it felt funny so I pulled it out of its Otterbox to find it was bent.
I dont know how it was bent.
I went to the ATT store where I bought it and where I insured it (5 days old)
They told me to go 40 miles to an Apple Store and see a Genius for a replacement.
Since I had to work all week and didnt have the time to go 40 miles away, I asked them if there was any other option.
They told me to contact the insurance company and they would overnight me a phone, so I contacted the insucance company.
Was not apple care, it was another name...
The insurance company asked for a scan of my DL, a photo of the phone and a photo of the receipt, I provided all three.
Good news!!! for 199.00 they would replace my phone...(I paid 45.00 for the phone)
Shaking my head, I decided to make an appointment with an Apple Genius.
Mind you I have been a purchaser of apple products for 20 years, and had iPhones for many years so far...no reason to think anything odd so far.
I get to the mall, see a Genius who looks at my phone and states "Apple does not replace bent iPhones" I asked why was I told to see her then and waste my day driving out to the mall? she had no idea. She said she would happily replace my phone for 299.00 and walked away...Freehold Raceway Mall NJ
She was rude, then another Genius asked me if I wanted to buy a new phone I said NO! he then asked if there was anything else other wise I should just go...
Yea, rude again...so me and my bent iPhone that turns off all the time are out of luck...

  • Does the iphone 6 plus actually bend

I heard that the iphone 6 plus is bending with regular use. I have ordered the iphone 6 plus and just wanted to know if anyone has actually found that the phone bends. If anyone who used the 6 plus can please help me out i would really appreciate it. I am a student and have been saving for a long time to buy this a new phone I just don't want to buy a phone that could potentially bend if maybe i sit on it or if it falls.

    Hi,
like many people I was opposed to the negative press.
    however........
I really must tell you of a case. I have had a number of iphone 6 models over the last few weeks and they have all gone back for a number of issues. Overheating, broken speakers, dead pixels and buttons sticking.
I got an iPhone 6 plus that works in the end. All was good until I met with a member of the family for lunch who wanted to ask me about his iphone. He has the iPhone 6. This phone was not only bent but also twisted!
I Am OCD about my devices. He is even more so than me. His phone was in a case and tempered glass protector fitted. Having heard the news the phone was never kept in a pocket at all! I really must stress this point, he is one of the most honest people I know.
Anyway, we took the phone to the apple store in Liverpool One. The manager saw the phone was immediately shocked at its condition. Was sent to Genius Bar to get the situation sorted out. A big fat NO. Our warranty does no longer cover and bends or distortion of the handset! However, for £290 we can remedy the situation for you! After a lengthy discussion with the technician and the store manager they were adamant they would in no way assist without taking £300 off of him. They stated they had never seen a bent iphone 6 before which is baloney as have seen a number of people return them for the same issue. He is now stuck with a phone that is worthless! No re sale value whatsoever!
As a result I have returned my phone and purchased a phone from a rival manufacturer!
Having been an apple customer for over 15 years I am absolutely appealed by this. Appalled.

  • Iphone 6 #bendgate !! service is pathetic

This happened a few weeks back, and since i live in srinagar i had to travel to delhi to give it to the service center.
the complaint number given was ******. In the mean time i had to travel to dubai for a meeting and since i use the whole apple eco system, it was very inconvenient. My calendar wouldn't sync to to other apple devices more over i couldn't save my numbers etc and i couldn't use voip and have a huge roaming bill. i called customer service and they made me talk to Mr. Anand on 5th march morning, he said he will call me back in 2-3 hours, he called me back after 4-5 hours saying he needed more details from the customer service and would call me tomorrow, none called on 6th. so i called again on 7th march and i take to senior service advisor Mr. Amin who said he would call me back in an hour, so i said take two hours and call me back, after 5 hours i called and Mr. Amin wasn't available so they connected me to Mr. Rudra, who said he will call me back in 5 mins and update me, he called me back in 10 seconds and said there was external pressure applied to the phone and it wouldn't be replaced for free.
Firstly in India we pay a lot more for apple products as compared to anywhere else in the world. secondly any bent iPhone has been changed by iPhone no questions asked, thirdly the service centres here are limited and they never provide good after sales service.
Im so frustrated, when ii used iphone5, my power on/off button stooped working, they never fixed it and said it was physical damage, now they are fixing it for everyone, i bought an air, after 5 days it went bust, rather than replacing it, they fixed it. i have just had it with apple india and seriously thinking of switching to another platform.

You have a damaged iPhone.  Apple has given you an answer regarding your request to have it replaced.  They have told you that such a replacement will not be free.  Damage is not covered under warranty.
Now, are you having a difficult time understanding that answer that Apple gave you, or are you trying to dispute that decision?
