Berklay and sqlite syncronization.

Dear all,
Im planinig for some teting on sqlite and berklay clientdb. Here are my questions?
1. Will the berklay or sqlite be coppied to client device same way as Olite client DB? Still i do not see berkley db in MDW and are those going to be changed
2. Wll the dmagent, msync, and updates will work same way as Olite..
ie... in olite we give user/password and url for dmagent setup url looks like http://hostname:1025/webtogo (will this be same for sqlite and berkley)
3. Will the orace will be similar and the client db default to storage card?
4. What will be the error messages .... we see POL etc in olite and where are the error manuals?
5. what is the meaning web-to-go not available in new releases ?? Are you refering the oracle mobile server management part like what we use in http://hostname:1025/webtogo (if the admin part not availble what would be the mechanism of adding users/devices/manage applications etc... done..
6. Will there be a release with new changes in oracle mobile server after 10.3...
7. When vb .net is used in development what is the dlll available for win mobile 6.x device applications (System.Data.SQLite) or any other and from where can i download them.

Hi Vino,
I installed 10.3.0.3 on a windows xp with sp3 . It works as usual but when creating olite it worked as usual but i got a error when try to install sqlite client on a win mob 6.5 . it just said to restart the application thats all.
WHen creating the publication still on this release i do not see bdb. its only lite and sqlite.
Still with 10.3.0.3 webtogo works.
I hope that 11. will have all these and we have to wait till that. It is unfortunate that mobile sever does not have a version for small scale people who has say less than 10 client devices. Is there any mechanism of licencing for people with 10 devices . because the current price of $23000 per processor will have an effect when there are fever people. (Sorry This is an out of the subject).

Thanks for the reply. I downloaded the System.Data.SQLite.dll..site says we need .net compact 3.5 and above for this dll.
It seems that the application which use oracle.dataaccess.lite_wce.dll has to be changed to suit to
sqlite..... And im trying to test them.. what is the dll for berklay for the .net? It looks the applications needs lot of changes on this
and oracle site does not have the requiierd dll in their site like the oracle.dataaccess.lite_wce.dll
will have to do lot of experiments in doing this...

AddressBook and Calendar syncronization?!?

Gentlemen, please excuse me if this has been answered before, I have spend a couple of days googling for answers with not much luck.
Here is my issue. About a month ago, I purchased a Mac Mini Server with SLS, to use it as a family server. The idea was to have our own email, web server etc (which are all working fine), but also I wanted the server to act as a "central point" for user address book and calendar synchronization.
What I mean with that, is that I wanted a central repository of our address books and calendars. We do NOT need to share address books. Maybe we could use a shared calendar, but again, it is not something mandatory, for the time being all we need is to be able to duplicate each member's address books and calendars on the server and in our devices.
Devices to be used as clients:
- One iMac (obviously always connected to the server)
- One MacBook (obviously this is USUALLY connected to the server, but not always). This machine acts as my wife home computer and as my traveling computer.
- Two iPhones (obviously these are usually NOT connected to the server, but they eventually get connected at some time of the day)
Until now, I've been using MobileMe for address book and calendar syncronization and I was hoping that by having the server I could avoid paying $100 per year for that service. Unfortunately, so far, I am unable to use the server for that task.
What I have managed so far, is:
_On the iMac_,
AddressBook: I have duplicated all my address book entries to my account address book on the server. However, for the name of God, how can I keep them in sync? In other words, if I add a contact in my iMac address book, it doesn't get copied to the server address book. How can I do that automatically? I know one answer would be to use only the server address book, since this machine is always connected to the server, but that doesn't solve the problem, see below.
Calendar: I can't find any way to copy my calendar contents to the my account calendar on the server. I can see the two calendars in iCal, but when I enter an entry in the server calendar, it stays in the server calendar and is NOT reflected in my local calendar and vice versa. Again, for the iMac that's not an issue, I could use the server calendar only (provided I can export my current, local calendar entries and import them to the server calendar), but again that doesn't solve the problem, see below:
_On the MacBook and the iPhones_
AddressBook: Now here is where the problem is. If I take the MacBook on a trip and I add a couple of contacts in my address book on the laptop, how can I have them copied to my server address book? As far as I can tell, the only way is to manually copy them. Isn't there a way to do so automatically? Either when I am away (via the Internet, when I'll connect to the Internet) or even when I return back home? I can't always use the server address book when I am away, because I may not always be connected to the Internet, so I need to be able to enter a contact in my local address book, and I need to have it copied to my server address book automatically when I connect to the Internet. Just like I do now with MobileMe.
Calendar: Again, the same thing. I want to be able to add a calendar entry to my local calendar on the road, which will be copied to my server calendar when I connect to the Internet (or the LAN at home). Can that be done?
And of course, the same calendar or address book entries I entered in the MacBook (while on the road), should be reflected back to my iPhone calendar and addresbook, when I connect to the Internet, just like they do now using MobileMe.
Can this be done?!? If so, please tell me how.

P.S.: The server is available on the internet, with fixed IP etc. Connectivity to the server is NOT an issue.

Move all your contacts and calendars to the server. Setup accounts on the server for groups in your family.
We have the following:
Husband
Wife
HusbandWife
Kids
All contacts are stored on server in the various accounts, and each person has access to what is appropriate. Husband/Wife have everything. Kids have less access, but there are three calendars in that section, Both, Child1 and Child2. My wife and I have our own stuff (like to-do's), but most of our appointments are in HusbandWife.
The kids have to put their homework in each week. We put in their other stuff. It shows up on their computers/ipads/iphones, etc.
The key is to get it all to the server. If you change something when you aren't connected it will synch up at the next connection.
Now - here is the tough part. You need perfect DNS to get all this working. Fully qualified public IP address, reverse lookup, etc. etc. with all the ports open. When you think you have it all setup with your ISP call Apple support and have them check it. Without the DNS you'll never get it all to work, particularly the wireless devices.

Phonegap, iPhone and SQLite database

I'm trying to develop my first iPhone app using Phonegap and SQLite database. My app is simple but don't know how to get started. My app has 2 dropdown list. When the user selects one of them the other dropdown list will reset. Then user will click on Submit button and I want to search the database and display the result.
I've never used the SQLite database and I would like to know in which folder should I keep the database file. The database file is small and will be stored on the device. The database is already populated. User will not add,edit or delete data but only search based on what value was selected using dropdown list.
Can someone tell me how to do this using JavaScript.

PhoneGap is something that cross-platform developers use to avoid the native frameworks. The people on this forum are more familiar with the native frameworks. You would have to find a PhoneGap forum to ask about that product.

Q10 contacts and calendar syncronization

Using outlook account, syncronization of contacs and calendar by usb connection fails, with message at the end of the process "writing of the coomit on the device failed". It was not like this at the beginning. Computer and device software are updateted. All other usb options work fine, like sync images and music.Somebody knows how to solve it?

First I did a sync only for calendar and it went through. Then I did the sync for contacts only and got the same error, so the problem in my case is in the contacts. So I generate the BB link logs enabling it in the BB link but without the windows registry modification (I'm not that skilled). The Log has been created anyhow, I went through it and found the line "outgoing payload" (there was only one) where a problem with one contact was indicated. I cancelled the contact on the phone and on the computer and did the sync again, but I got the same error. So I created again the log and found another problem with another contact. After three times I realised that with each try a new error with a different contact was created (only one at a time). So the problem is not solved, calendar sync works fine if done separately, contacts sync doesn't work properly: contacts added on the phone are copied to the computer but any change on the computer is not written on the phone. Maybe the way is to cancel all the contacts on the device and redo the sync from scratch, but I do not know how to cancel the contacts on the device (other than one by one, I have more than 400....) and the risk is not to get the contacts back on the device never again.

Crystal Reports and SQLite

I work with Crystal Reports 2008. We have a report connected to a Sybase database via ODBC. I tried to replace the Sybase database by a SQLite database 3.6.11 via ODBC. But it doesn't act up, even though the databases contain the same tables. Nothing happens, when I select the same table in both databases in the "data source path" dialog and then click "actualize".
When I try to create a new report with the standard report creation tool using a SQLite database 3.6.11 as data source, the functionality is limited, too. For example I can't group fields like I can do using a Sybase database.
Does anyone have experiences with this? Or is there any other possibility to connect to a SQLite database besides ODBC in Crystal Reports?

It's likely a limitation of the ODBC driver. And unless they have an OLE DB driver ODBC is your only option.

My iPod show total white screen as soon as I connect it to my PC and cannot syncronize

My iPod nano 6th generation cannot syncronize anymore to the PC (I tried with three different PC with latest iTunes installed) and as soon as I connect it to the PC the icons on the screen disappear and it shows total blank white sreen. And it has lost all the music inside. What can I do..? thanks a lot for any suggestion..

Error 1604
This error is often related to USB timing. Try changing USB ports, using a different dock connector to USB cable, and other available USB troubleshooting steps (troubleshooting USB connections. If you are using a dock, bypass it and connect directly to the white Apple USB dock connector cable. If the issue persists on a known-good computer, the device may need service.
If the issue is not resolved by USB isolation troubleshooting, and another computer is not available, try these steps to resolve the issue:
Connect the device to iTunes, confirm that the device is in Recovery Mode. If it's not in Recovery Mode,put it into Recovery Mode.
Restore and wait for the error.
When prompted, click OK.
Close and reopen iTunes while the device remains connected.
The device should now be recognized in Recovery Mode again.
Try to restore again.
If the steps above do not resolve the issue, try restoring using a known-good USB cable, computer, and network connection.

Air and sqlite problem - cumulating results

I got problem with sqlite in air.
The problem is that sqlStmt.getResult().data is gathering data from separate Select statements, when it should be separate results. As in this example, where I call "select" function once, and AFTER geting it's result I call it again with different query.

Maybe one of You had some simmilar problem and is able to help me with this.

Thanks for help. It is recomended to use different instances of SQLStatement. But it wasn't the case.
I changed to asynchronious connection and I added SQLMode and now it works.
So instead of
conn.open(dbFile)
now I got this:
conn.openAsync(dbFile,SQLMode.UPDATE);
So I think that the problem was becouse I was listening to result events of synchronious connection.

I created connection to SQLite database but wizard for creating BC from Tables does not working ( i can only see first step and all fields are disabled- i can click on button next but nothing happens).

I need to query a small SQLite Database from within Bridge. Does anyone know if that is possible.
Maybe via:
1. "Integrating External Libraries", which is too hardcore for me :(
2. Commandline, which is not that nice
3. A small AIR app connected via SwitchBoard
Has anyone coped with this task before?

this would be the easiest solution for me, but I forgot to mention, that the db should be local (thats why sqlite) on the users machine. There is an standalone air application that should be altered/ported to be running as SWF in a bridge tabbed palette. SWFs seem not to offer support for using sqlite directly and so I thought I could do the queries with extendscript. I will give the commandline approach a try, or maybe there is another solution?
Apart from this project, I find the idea of having a small database available in my Bridge Scripts very very promising. XML is fine for storing data, but searching, sorting, deleting, joining data is much work:(

Server-Client and collections/syncronization question

Hi guys, I am learning about server and client relationships and was playing around with some code.
I have a catalog on Server machine that multiple clients need to read and modify. I set up multi thread server with sockets and I/o that work well when several clients connect to it. My problem is with catalog itself.
Catalog is located in a file on a Server Machine. I was thinking of reading catalog into a collection (either set or list)and then sending the info to the client somewhow. I realize that collection would have to be static so that changes would be made to it with multiple clients and I understand that some modifying or update methods should be syncronized. So my questions are
a) How do I create the collection (set or List) from the text file?
b) Is there some method like syncronizedSet(set s) or something?
Any suggestions?

Resetting old iPad and stop syncronization between the old and the new one.

I have two iPads. They are synced. I want to remove some info from the old one and stop synchronization. How to do it?

I would still erase the device and start all one again. The new user can still sign into the Apple ID and download all of the purchased content again and if you erase the device you don't have to worry about deleting the email accounts, the iCloud account and all of the private things that you don't want to share.
But, if you don't want to erase the device, at the very least you will want to delete your iCloud account from the iPad and delete your email accounts as well. You don't want to sync contacts, calendars and those sorts of things with the new user - correct? So you might as well delete your iCloud account from the iPad. The new user can setup their own iCloud account if they want one. And obviously you want to remove your email accounts from the iPad as well.
