BES and Blackberry Bridge conflict

I have a blackberry 9810. I have configured the bridge and the data is appearing on my playbook but it is not opening. The issue was the IP policy when trying to open messages and accepting the BBM licence. I tried the reset to factory setting and the bridge worked well all data was being viewed.
My next step was to sync the Enterprise mail. once this was done using the Blackberry desktop manager the bridge returned to the state prior to the reset.
Why is this happening and how to get pass it.

Hello...and apologies for the delayed reply!
Hopefully you already have this resolved...but just in case.
From your description, this definitely sounds like a limitation imposed by the IT (not "IP") Policy, which is placed by the BES server at activation of the BB device. You need to discuss this with your BES admins, and they can seek help from other BES admins in the BES section of this site.
Good luck!

  • Playbook Blackberry bridge to browse photos on bb phone

I did update 2.1 for the Playbook.
I always use Playbook and Blackberry Bridge to show my clients photos I have on the phone .
Now the system is more complicated because to see the next picture I have to turn off the remote control and then click again on the picture next click to "open the playbook photography" and so on.
Besides the fact that it is slower through my bb 9810

Just curious - how did you look at your photos before? What was different?

  • Bluetooth, Blackberry bridge and Playbook not linking to Q10

    Please.....
After checking settings and browsing the Internet for possible problems or fixes, I'm having frustrating problems in linking my phone and playbook when they worked fine before a few wks back, does anyone know if this has been a recent problem or if this has been resolved, it does seem a waste of my 64gb playbook if I can no longer use Blackberry bridge (link from Q10 still doesn't do what it is meant to do as it did with me 9800) or bluetooth link up? Please i'm going spare here trying to fix or search for updates that always say 'unavailable for this device', starting to regret getting my new Q10  that i've had for 3mths where bridge doesn't work, bluetooth doesn't get connected properly and useful apps are not available for new Q10 device, my playbook worked wonders with my 9800!
    CTEvans

Your Playbook will never work with the Q10 like it did with with your 9800. That's just the way it is.
I would try disconnecting both devices, unpair them, and then reboot both devices and reconnect using the Bridge app. Once they do connect about all you can do access the Internet on the Playbook using your Q10.

  • Blackberry bridge and curve 9220

    I am trying to set up the blackberry bridge on my curve 9220. However, when I click on the download, I get the message that;
"Sorry, your device does not meet the system requirements that are needed to support Blackberry Bridge"
ANy suggestions? Is it something my company may have disabled? The blackberry is a firm issued one. Or is it my network service provider?

  • Blackberry Bridge App not showing on phone

    Hi,
Firstly, I realise that this is more an issue for the phone forum, but it relates to the PB so have posted it here.
I have a Pearl 9105 running OS6 (bundle 2646). I had Blackberry Bridge installed on it to connect to my PB, but since an upgrade to version 1.0.7.4 last Saturday the icon has disappeared from the phone. I have tried uninstalling, performing a battery pull, reinstalling and then a further battery pull, but it does not show up at all, though does say in Application Management that it is installed.
Please can someone suggest some way to get it to reappear?
    Many thanks,
    Neil

  • Blackberry Bridge issues after update

New to the forum and need help!
    I have a Torch 9810 and PlayBook
    Torch 9810 7.1 bundle 2061
    Blackberry Bridge 2.1.0.26
    PlayBook OS 2.1.0.1088
    BES is used
The Bridge connects to the PlayBook and will allow remote control and bridge browser to be used. However, although the email, text and BBM alert icons appear on the PlayBook they cannot be opened. The Bridge contacts and calender will also not open on the Playbook.
When attempting to open Text messages on the PlayBook the notice "Text Messages was disabled by IT policy" is displayed. There is no IT Policy in place.
When attempting to open BBM on the PlayBook the notice "You must accept the BlackBerry Messenger Licence Agreement on your smartphone to use BBM on your PlayBook". It has been accepted on the phone.
I've tried unpairing, rebooting both devices and repairing to no avail.
    Any ideas appreciated

Hi and Welcome to the Community!
Contrary to your belief, there is indeed an IT Policy on the BB...the error message is quite clear on that point. While it is possible to check for an IT Policy via this procedure:
KB30076 How to check for an IT Policy on a BlackBerry smartphone
it is also possible for there to be a "stealth" IT Policy, which gives no hint of its existence save for those error messages. If your BB truly is not now associated with any BES system, then there are procedures you can follow to cleanse it of the latent IT Policy (which could be there as a result of, sometime in its life, the BB being associated with BES...but not being properly cleansed when it was removed from BES...it's not an automatic process to remove the IT Policy). On the other hand, if your BB is associated with BES, then you need to talk to your BES admins for assistance as they control everything.
To cleanse your BB, first take a full backup:
KB12487 How to back up BlackBerry smartphone data using BlackBerry Desktop Software for Windows
Next, take a manual inventory of all of your add-on apps, license keys, etc...this process will return your BB to a NIB state, and you will have to reinstall everything from scratch (and, before you ask, no there is no other way).
    Next, conduct this process:
KB31291 How to reset a BlackBerry smartphone to factory settings using BlackBerry Desktop Software
Now, get your BB properly running on your carrier network, by conducting the following steps, in order, even if they seem redundant to what you have already tried (steps 1 and 2 each should result in a message coming to your BB...please wait for that before proceeding to the next step):
    1) Register HRT
KB00510 How to register a BlackBerry smartphone with the wireless network
Please wait for one "registration" message to arrive to your Messages app
    2) Delete and Resend Service Books
KB05000Delete the service book for the BlackBerry Internet Service email account from the BlackBerry smartphone
If you have no CMIME entry, then skip the deletion
KB02830 Send the service books for the BlackBerry Internet Service
Please wait for "Activation" Messages, one per already configured email account, to arrive in your Messages. If you have no already configured email accounts, please wait 1 hour.
    3) Batt Pull Reboot
Anytime random strange behavior or sluggishness creeps in, the first thing to do is a battery pop reboot. With power ON, remove the back cover and pull out the battery. Wait about a minute then replace the battery and cover. Power up and wait patiently through the long reboot -- ~5 minutes. See if things have returned to good operation. Like all computing devices, BB's suffer from memory leaks and such...with a hard reboot being the best cure.
Next, do a SELECTIVE restore from the backup you took earlier...do not do a wholesale restore, if you do, you will restore the offending IT Policy and be right back where you started. Skip over any databases that are not critical, especially those that have anything at all to do with IT Policy:
KB10339 How to use BlackBerry Desktop Software to restore data to a BlackBerry smartphone from a backup file
    KB03974 BlackBerry smartphone database list
Now, reinstall all of your apps, reapply those license keys, and reconfigure to your preferred settings. With all of that, you should be cleansed of the IT Policy and should be able to perform the things you desire.
    Good luck!

  • Is the Blackberry bridge 100% compatible to connect to a Playbook 64GB with a new 9360 BB?

My question is around the following situation:
If I have a new 9360 Blackberry can I share my internet bandwidth via blackberry bridge to a new 64GB BB Playbook?

Bridge will work fine for emails, BBM and PIM but you might need a tether plan for bridge browser.

  • BES and Redirector

    Hi,
I'm having a really hard time with this and I'm reading conflicting information.
I had a BES account but I'm no longer on the company BES. I wiped my device and everything is running fine using BIS, except no corporate email. The only two ways I can get corporate email is with a BB and using Outlook (at office or VPN). OWA is available but I have to be on the corporate network.
Today I decided to try Desktop Redirector. I uninstalled DM, re-installed and set up for redirector. I have it running, see messages pending to send/receive. The status shows as "verifying forwarding address". I did some reading and tried suggestions to correct this without any luck.
I called AT&T and they tell me Redirector still needs to be on the corporate BES; it will work with the AT&T BIS plan. RIM KB00011 also say "The BlackBerry smarthphone user account has not been added to the BlackBerry Enterprise Server." as a cause for this problem. However, from my reading on various forums, I'm seeing others say that you don't need to be on the BES, and, BES isn't required for Redirector as it works in lieu of BES. From my limited understanding, why would I even want Desktop Redirector if I was on BES?
So, if some can tell me if BES is required for Desktop Redirector or help in solving my "verifying forwarding address" problem, it would be greatly appreciated. Thanks.
    Regards-Michael G.

    Thanks for the suggestions.
OWA is only available on the corporate intranet so you have to log on with a VPN connection. BIS wouldn't be able to get to the internal web site. I tried just to be sure.
Yes, I read that KB. AT&T is giving me somewhat conflicting information saying that when there is a BES, you have to be enabled on it to use Redirector. That is mentioned in KB00011 as a cause for this problem (not on BES) but I've been reading others have been successful without it and it isn't needed. Seems to me why would that be a requirement when BES is wireless anyway.
Someone in another forum suggested that I still need a BES account enabled on the AT&T service; I just got off the phone with AT&T switching from BIS back to BES. I'm still not getting anywhere and have "Verifying forwarding address" in the Status box. Did a battery pull, shutdown the PC, reconnected the BB, conencted to DM and have redirector running and outlook.
Why no BES now? Corporate policy changed. I'm a contractor and this client provides me with an email address on their domain. I've had BES access for years but now they decided for BES you can no longer provide your own phone and service. I can get the client to provide me with a BB and service, but then I have to carry two devices - ok during a work day, but not off hours. That's a choice of last resort in my book.
Surprisingly, I'm finding it isn't that bad without BES. I'm using an ultalight with 3g card to check email a couple times during the day when I'm in the field. For real emergencies, they have my phone, email (corp with outlook and personal via BIS), BB Messenger and SMS so it isn't like they can't get me. I especially like not having the restrictive corp IT policy on the BB and there isn't nearly the level of distraction on off hours.
I happen to read about redirector and thought it might be nice to have. I figured I'll make a reasonable attempt to get it working. If I can' great, if not, it isn't a big deal.
    Regards-Michael G.

  • Sync'ing Multiple Calendars in Both Outlook and Blackberry 8330

I have been searching for either an OEM solution or 3rd party application solution for this problem for quite some time with no luck, so I decided to ask the experts here...
I am running an 8330 w/BIS service. I use my Blackberry for personal, work, and a side business. I have my personal emails, my work email (BIS, not BES) and my side business's email addresses configured. As such, I have multiple calendars on my Device and I've color-coded them to my liking.
I am quite mobile, and often need to enter infomation in any of the 3 calendars on the fly. Keeping them color-coded and separate is ideal, since I use the 'select calendar' function on the device to keep everything organized.
The problem lies in syncronizing with Outlook 2007 when I get home... Outlook 2007 will only sync the Default Calendar on my device, which happens to be my personal calendar. I know I can add a second and third calendar in Outlook and configure them to syncronize with my Blackberry but they still will only sync with my Default Calendar on the device. This is not much help when I'm on the road since everything ends up in one lump on my device, and no way to separate...
Google Sync is the same thing. I can add calendars and syncronize, but it all ends up in my Default Calendar as well.
I just can't see myself scrolling thru my many appointments and all-day events to pick out what events belong to what area of my life... I'm baffled that there would be multiple calendars on the device but no way to syncronize them with Outlook. Any assistance would be appreciated.
    Thanks in advance...

Can only be done wired using Desktop Manager.

  • Cannot get Blackberry Bridge to work

    Hello,
    I have a PlayBook running OS Version 2.0.1.358 and a Curve 8520.
I have installed BlackBerry Bridge but the devices will not connect.  It sometimes does get as far as presenting the verification numbers (does this number match on your Playbook?).  I confirm that they do but then a message appears indicating the devices cannot connect.  Sometimes it does not get that far and the message is could not connect to the Computer or could not connect to the Playbook.
Afterwards the PlayBook does appear in the BlackBerry bridge on the phone and is set to Automatically Connect.  Trying to connect does not work.
"No Connected Devices" appears on the PlayBook's, Bluetooth pop-up.
I have tried using both the QR code and the manual setup.
I believe I did have it working the first time I tried but it stopped.  I have done a security wipe of the PlayBook to try to start fresh but that has not worked.
If it matters, my phone is a provided by my employeer and is connected to my work e-mail account.  We use HotMail.

Well, I'm replying to my own post but I did get the two devices connected.
I uninstalled and reinstalled the BlackBerry Bridge software on the phone.  I had not tried this yet.  When I then tried to reconnect it didn't work at first but a second try did work and now my e-mails and other stuff from Outlook are appearing on the PlayBook.   Yeah!

  • BBM icon not showing in Blackberry Bridge on Playbook

I've setup the Blackberry Bridge between the Playbook, and a BB Torch, all the bridge icons are showing except the BBM icon.   Is BBM available yet through the bridge connection?
Does anyone know when a video chat app will be available, is is this going to be pushed out through an update?

Here is another example of where someone from RIM needs to STEP UP and provide a definitive answer to the question:  Is BBM supported on PB. And the related question: Is SMS messaging supported on PB.  Seems crazy that RIM is leaving new PB users in limbo.  The answers are all rumors and heresay.  Let's get a statement on this from RIM!
Similarly, there are no answers from RIM on the issues with email attachments and other email quirks.  **bleep**?

  • Problem accessing files via Blackberry Bridge

Not sure if anyone is having this issue....I've got the blackberry bridge installed, and I can access my messages, contacts, etc.  However if I go into the Bridge Files menu, I am unable to open anything.  I tap it and it just does nothing.  If I go into the sheet to go app on the Playbook, I am able to access my files off my blackberry, however every single one opens up read only (which kinda defeats the purpose)
Any ideas?  Is there a setting I am missing?
