  • Office 365 ProPlus App-V 5.0 Package installs Lync, Outlook, Infopath and Onenote even though they are not selected for publishing

I have created an App-V 5.0 Package for Office 365 ProPlus using the documentation provided here:
    http://technet.microsoft.com/en-us/library/jj219422.aspx
I am able to load the App-V Package into my SCCM 2012 SP1 environment and deploy the package to a test machine
Within SCCM, I have configured the deployment type to only select a couple of applications.  Notice that Lync, Outlook, Infopath and Onenote are not selected.
    http://i.imgur.com/1eMxUlY.jpg
For my deployment type, I only selected Word, Excel and Powerpoint.  Looking at my test machine, those 3 applications now show up in my start screen.
    http://i.imgur.com/amZmxAT.jpg
I don't see any of the other Office applications be default on my start screen, so I would think all looks good.  If I type another Office application, lets say access at the start screen I get, "No apps match your search."
    http://i.imgur.com/fxbWEvb.jpg
But if I type Lync, Outlook, Infopath or Onenote, it shows me that those applications are available, and I can launch them as an App-V application just as I could Excel, Word or Powerpoint, the applications that I wanted to have available.
This is not what I was expecting when I went through the trouble to create an App-V package.  It looks like almost all of the apps become available on my client machine, all App-V is doing is making the application button in the start screen a little
    harder to find.
What is interesting is that for the applications I did want published, I can search for them by just entering a few letters of the application name, and they show up with the 2013 version label, see below for an example search for Word.
    http://i.imgur.com/0LeS05z.jpg
For the applications that I did not publish but still show up on my client, I have to type in the full name of the application for the launch button to come up.  For example, I can't type lyn and expect to see Lync, but if i type lync I will get an
option to launch the application.  The same goes for Outlook, Infopath and Onenote, and when you do type in the full namke of the app, it doesn't show the version number like Word does as Word 2013, it just shows Lync, or Outlook, or Infopath, or
    Onenote.

    vs
    http://i.imgur.com/PxgSmUc.jpg
Can anyone from Microsoft confirm that this is expected behavior.  If this is to be expected this is pretty disappointing, because a main point of the App-V package is it is the only way to limit which applications are deployed via Office 365 ProPlus
but from what I can tell, it really isn't limiting anything beyond the start screen for most cases.

So it looks like the config xml files are the best option
    http://blogs.technet.com/b/office_resource_kit/archive/2013/12/02/announcing-app-v-5-0-sp2-support-for-office-2013-volume-licensing-editions.aspx
You can now use the Deployment Configuration file to configure the Office installation. One question I often get is, “How do I disable msaccess.exe or infopath.exe from an Office install if I am not using the MSI package?” This can be done by modifying the
Deployment Configuration file in App-V with entries like the following:
    <Application Id="[(AppVPackageRoot}]\office15\MSACCESS.EXE" Enabled="false">
      <VisualElements>
        <Name>Access 2013</Name>
        <Icon />
        <Description />
      </VisualElements>
    </Application>
That will prevent App-V from publishing msaccess.exe on the system and/or you can remove any undesired application shortcuts from publishing on the targeted computer using the shortcuts properties by deleting or commenting them out. Once you’ve configured your
Deployment and User Configuration files, you’ll have everything you need to import the packages into your App-V environment to start testing.

  • Outlook 2013 (Office 365 Install) unable to set Default Mail Client

After installing Office 2013 via Office 365 for Business, the installation is unable to set Outlook as the default mail client.  Message appears after each system reboot:
"Either there is no default mail client or the current mail client cannot fulfill the messaging request.  Please run Microsoft Outlook and set it as the default mail client."
When going into Control Panel and manually set the Outlook client as the default, the setting does not take.  After a reboot, the warning message reappears.
Anyone else having the same issue?

    MJ
No but then again it is a Beta. Did you clean install or update?  9926 seems to be relatively stable.

  • Licencing Office 365 on Remote Desktop Services

So I am looking to move to Office 365 in the near future instead of just renewing my SA against Office standard.
I read somewhere that in order to continue to be able to clone these installs as part of my Terminal Server rollout, I need to purchase at least on Office licence on SA.
This is to allows access to the .ISO file and KMS licence. To keep compliant, the rest I will purchase via Office 365.
Does that sound about right and can I use Office 365 Mid Business as the version or does it have to be Pro?

I'm not quite sure what do you mean by "clone these installs as part of my Terminal Serverl...". If you mean use Remote Desktop Services (RDS) to provide shared computers to users in your organization, you can use
shared computer activation to do this.
Please note, you have to do this with
Office Deployment Tool. Here is the reference you'll need:
    http://blogs.technet.com/b/uspartner_ts2team/archive/2014/09/03/office-365-shared-computer-activation.aspx
    http://technet.microsoft.com/en-us/library/dn782858(v=office.15).aspx
Office 365 has nothing to do with .ISO file and KMS licence. It uses Click-to-Run as the new installation technology, and must be activated with the Microsoft account associated with your subscription.

  • Office 365 on mavericks incompatible

After trying on two Mavericks computers and two hours of office 365 support it is clear that the Office 365 version of Office 11 is incompatible with OSX Mavericks. For new installs you are unable to validate Office 2011 install using your Office 365 credentials. If Office 2011 is already installed after a Mavericks upgrade the result is that your Office 365 credentials are no longer recognized so you cannot sync between Mavericks and Office 365.

Dunno what issues others may have, but as of latest - meaning 10.9.2 - version of Mavericks, I've had no connection issues with OSX, the Office 365 Outlook server and either Outlook 2011 or Apple Mail.
An apparent difference. I did not purchase Office for Mac 2011 via Office 365. I didn't like the 'lease' arrangement of that route.
I just connected to Office 365 the day before this post and after installing 10.9.2. Things may have changed on one or both sides.
While I don't have connection issues, at least for mail and calendar, I am not able to do anything with the Global Address List associated with my O365 account. That's true for both Outlook and Apple's contacts. Outlook works as described - just fine everywhere but in Contacts! Oh, the irony!
Apple contacts just spins it's wheels. One wonders why Apple has contacts as a checkbox for Exchange account syncing. Some might be of the opinion that is misleading - if it don't work, no matter whose fault, don't advertise it. But that's just an opinion some folks might have.
Bottom line, though, in answer to VinMan2999, Mavericks DOES work with Office 365 mail accounts. I have no answers why yours doesn't except, perhaps, because I didn't buy my copy from Office 365.
    Update
I did nothing special. Opened Mail.app, added account, picked Exchange, put in username/pw for account. Got the server address from a M$ help page (it is outlook.office365.com) and put that in the server box. Needed to do that for Outlook 2011, too. Then I checked and unchecked what I wanted to use - Mail and Calendar in the Apple Account Preferences.
I believe the newest Mavericks update does talk about fixes in the Mail.app.

  • Office 365 & InDesign

  • VISIO OFFICE 365 AND A MAC

    Hey to Everyone,
    Here is the scenario...
I have one Mac in my organization that is using Office 365 Plan E3. I would like to add Visio to Office 365 but I am not sure how well the Mac and Visio in Office 365 will work together. In other words can I use Visio via Office 365 with a Mac?
    Regards,
    James

    Hi James,
Visio Pro for Office 365 is a standalone subscription. You need to purchaes it seperately then add it to Office 365 plan.  It
allows each user to install Visio on up to five PCs running Windows 7 or Windows 8.
    http://office.microsoft.com/en-001/visio/microsoft-visio-pro-for-office-365-create-versatile-diagrams-FX103791920.aspx
But Visio is not support for Mac, it doesn't work on Macs.

  • Has anyone completly migrated/moved SBS 2008 to Office 365 ?

    Hello All,
We have a client with SBS 2008 and would like to moe all AD/ emails / data / possibly some 3rd party applications  like QuickBooks (This is not confirmed yet) to office 365 and once moved would like to decommission the SBS 2008 box so from that
point onwards everything including AD authentication would be done via office 365.
I have seen articles/information about moving exchange/data etc. but not the whole  infrastructure to office 365 and depend entirely on office 365 without any onsite servers.
Has anyone tested this method? if so please let me know your feedback.
Also what are the cons of depending solely on office 365 apart from the obvious , office365 or internet outages , lack of full control etc.
    Regards,
    Dhanushka

First off that's not possible.  Unless the application can run natively inside SharePoint, Office 365 does not give you NTFS file share platform for which to install QuickBooks.
Email and SharePoint yes.  Native file shares no.
What can be done however is look over to Azure.  On Azure you can turn on Remote desktop services, host a file sharing server in Azure/then host desktops in azure, use the Essentials role to hook into Office 365.
But bottom line what you think can be done in 365, can't all be done in 365.  It needs Azure.

  • Change in SharePoint DNS breaking remote authentication code through office 365 login

    Hi,
I have a website that connects to a SharePoint online site in order to access content from there. The authentication is done through the Office 365 login. In order to do that, I composed the following URL:
    "https://login.microsoftonline.com/login.srf?wa=wsignin1.0&rpsnv=3&rver=6.1.6206.0&wp=MBI&wreply=https://www10226.sharepoint.com/_layouts/15/landing.aspx?Source=" + window.location
so that the window.location is returned to after the authentication is done. It worked so far, but today I encountered the following problem: https://www10226.sharepoint.com now says page cannot be found, DNS lookup failed. Apparently the correct
address is now https://www10501.sharepoint.com . Does anybody know about this sort of change? Is it a one time thing or it happens on a regular basis? How can I get the right DNS dynamically so my code won't be affected by changes like this
    one in the future?
    Any help is highly appreciated.

Hi, Jason, and thank you for the answer.
I am not the global administrator. The problem is that I want an universal problem for any SharePoint Online site that will be accessed by the users - A link like the one above, authenticating the user to SharePoint Online via Office 365 and then returning
    to my website.
I composed the URL above by simply looking at what redirects Office 365 does when I try to log in into my SharePoint Online site. At that moment I understood that wreply=https://www10226.sharepoint.com/_layouts/15/landing.aspx
was an universal authentication endpoint, but then the address changed and it was https://www10501.sharepoint.com,
    and currently it is https://www10706.sharepoint.com
. I am confused by these changes. Do you mean to tell me that this part www10706 is specifically only to one SharePoint Online site and that if you tried to authenticate to a different SharePoint address than mine, it wouldn't work? If so, how should
the URL be in order to achieve what I want, authentication and returning to website, having the security token attached to the request?
I came across this article http://community.office365.com/en-us/w/domains/sharepointcname.aspx, but I am unsure whether it has to do with the changes I am experiencing. I tried putting the SharePoint address inputted by the user in the wreply parameter
    (such as wreply=https://www.ALIAS.sharepoint.com) but after
the authentication it just remains on the SharePoint page, without returning to my website.
Please advise, I need to find a solution to this.
    Cheers!

  • Office 365 ProPlus Shared Computer Activation on non-persistent VDI

    Hello everybody
We've different customers that are using a non-persistent VDI solutions like VMWare Horizon or Citrix provisioning.
Some of the customers wants to license the Office Suite via Office 365 ProPlus.
When configuring Office 365 ProPlus with Shared Computer Activation and without AD FS we've the behaviour where users needs to login each time to Login to a machine, because after signou the machin gets restored.
Is the only solution the one described in
this article by using AD FS or is there another solution to perhaps store the provided Office 365 credentials and licensing information.
As I'm aware a Office 2013 volume license Version cannot be used anymore starting on 1. August 2015 if licensed over Office 365 ProPlus because the use-righst for a volume license version are being removed.
Thank you for clarification on that, because I'm not able to find on official statemant.
    Kind regards

    Hi,
ADFS should be the primary choice for your case. In addition to this there are a variety of qualified third party identity providers that can be connected with Office 365 to provide the necessary single sign-on.

  • NBN doesn't work with Office 365

Anyone else having problems with accessing Office 365 on the NBN?  Trying to work out if it's specific to the NBN Fiber to the Basement trial we're on or a broader issue - and getting run in circles by Telstra.  Spent hours on the phone today just getting passed to the next department! Here's the issue. NBN connection works fine - nice and fast, no problem. BUT we have regular problems where we can;t access outlook.office365.com (our hosted exchange via Office 365) - either through Outlook desktop or Ouytlook Web Access.  Everything else still works at that time, just not email.  We can even get to the SharePoint sites in the same O365 tenant - it just appears to be a problem with traffic getting blocked to the Exchange server, If we swich back to the old ADSL service - everything works (just much slower). If we take a laptop to another network (Optus / Telstra Cable or hot spotting via a mobile phone) - everything works. So quite specifically this is an issue with the NBN network.  Either the NBN modem, or the network itself.  We've tried switching the modem, didn't help.  To be clear - it does work SOMETIMES, but here it worked mostly before with occassional problems, now it mostly FAILS and only occassionally works.  It ALWAYS works on other networks so it is not a problem with the client devices, or the Office 365 accounts.  It's not a problem with the switches or cabling in the office because it works on the old ADSL.  The only thing it doesn;t work on is the NBN. We've tried the Google DNS servers (8.8.8.8 / 8.8.4.4) - didn't help. Anyone else experienced this?  I'm thinking now it might be a configuration on the DSLAM in the basement?  Or the Telstra Broadband Remote Access Server - but trying to find somoene in Telstra to actually discuss this with me and get some help is proving impossible. Thanks

I not a Telstra employee, but I have a tech background, but not in internet protocols. You may consider ringing. Microsoft possibly ???  who  may ???     be using some access protocol that NBN will not access ???????? There are some extremely highly specialist and qualified  technical IT folk in some specific forums, just for example,  Whirlpool.     who actually are employed in that area of IT. You may want to search if anyone else has experienced this.  The more I think about this, the more I think Microsoft may be your best port of call ???

  • Office 365 OWA, mail via Safari is marked as spam

    Hi,
HTML email send via the web based Outlook Web App (Office 365) in Safari (7.0.6) is marked as spam and so for bounced by external mailservers. Plain text email via Safari or email send via Firefox or Chrome (HTML or plain text) isn't marked as spam.
    Anyone facing the same issue?

    I have the same issue.
Mail works perfectly.. NO SPAM issues, EXCEPT when using Safari.
This is as much an APPLE issue as a Microsoft issue. All other browsers work perfectly.  So, what is Apple doing in Safari
that causes it to be considered Spam?
Because of this I'm going to be forced to start using Firefox, which Apple probably doesn't want its users to do.

    Hi

  • No Office 365 connections via Outlook 2013

    I am usually able to connect via Outlook 2013 to mny Office 365 Exchange accounts for email etc. But sinice Saturday 18th July have been unable to do this. Outlook truies to connect andcannot ending up in a "disconnected" status. I have re-installed Office from scratch, no dice.I have disabled Windows Firewall, no diceI have flushed my DNS, no dice. I can pull mail via Outlokk for POP and IMAP no problem. I can also tether my laptop to my phone and pull Office 365 mail etc with no issues. So I know the laptop is fine, the Outlook app is fine and Microsoft hosting Exchange is fine. The issue has to be the network I am connecting over. I cannot ping the 365 addrerss eitherC:\Users\JDarling>ping sky.comPinging sky.com [90.216.128.5] with 32 bytes of data&colon;

I can use the OWA to get mail, but as I have several mail accounts configured in Outlook and you can only sign in to one 365 account at a time, this is not a workaround I can use. Any ideas what the problem is?

I'm getting this too; I have an Office 365 account that is provided by my employer.  Around Thursday last week I started to have issues connecting to the mailbox using the Outlook 2016 for Windows Desktop at home. It would show as disconnected and attempting to reconnect would get errors regarding authenitcation. Being an IT professional I did some investigation and also having talked to Microsoft themselves we've narrowed it down to some form of Sky IPv6 configuration, as the Microsoft Exchange expert I spoke too reckons that it's some for of IPv6 Proxy setup at Sky's end, reasons; Around the same time I was having issues with connecting to my O365 mailbox I noticed my Sky Hub has received a firmware update adding several IPv6 related features (Ping, LAN setup, Firewall).I also have Outlook for Android and can connect to my O365 account at home no problem; my Smartphone (Galaxy S4 running Android Lollipop) does not support IPv6.There is nothing wrong with my O365 account and mailbox, Microsoft checked whilst I was looking over their shoulder and I can connect to it via the Web Portal at home.Outlook 2016 can connect to my O365 mailbox via other networks; my employer's wifi network and also whilst at a friend's, their BT Internet wifi network; this indicates that the IPv6 configuration on my laptop is good.I've found a work around; you need to disable IPv6 on your PC's network card until Sky sort out what they are doing regarding IPv6! Navigate to the Control Panel.Go to the Network and Sharing Centre. On the left click "Change Adapter Settings".This will bring up the "Network Settings" form.Right click the connection that is being used (you will probably see two connections if your PC has both an ethernet and wifi card.  The one that is NOT being used will have a RED "X" against it).Choose Properties.Within the "This connection uses the following items" list of items, scroll down until you find "Internet Protocol Version 6 (TCP/IP)" and uncheck it (remove the tick from the box) and click "OK".Restart Outlook; the mailbox should now connect. The question I have what is Sky doing regarding IPv6 introduction/configuration as so far I haven't seen much about it!

  • Can't connect to Office 365 mail account via Apple Mail (Exchange)

I recently upgraded to OS X Yosemite, but had this problem before upgrading as well. I have an Office 365 mail account, but cannot sync it via Apple Mail. I went into my Apple Mail accounts and tried connecting my Office 365 account through the Exchange option, but it will not connect. From my knowledge, this is not an uncommon problem but it is very inconvenient. Is there any way to get around the glitch, or anything I should be doing differently? I do know a couple people with Office 365 accounts who have been able to make it work, but they apparently did not do anything differently when setting up their account.

Sometimes this issue is caused by a misconfiguration or incompatibility of the Exchange server, or perhaps by a bug in Mail. If so, you won't be able to resolve it yourself. The fact that your iOS devices may be working well with the same account isn't relevant, because iOS uses a completely different protocol (ActiveSync) to communicate with Exchange servers. By default, OS X Mail uses the EWS protocol.
Each of the following steps has been reported to help with Exchange issues, at least temporarily, in some cases:
    1. Back up all data. Open the Internet Accounts pane in System Preferences and check to make sure you don't have duplicate Exchange accounts. If you do, delete all but one of the duplicates. If there are no duplicates, delete the account and recreate it with the same settings.
    2. Rebuild the affected mailbox.
    3. Reindex messages.
    4. Follow the instructions in this support article to disable autodiscovery. You may need to get configuration details from the server administrator.
    5. In the Keychain Access application, delete the password item for the account. The next time Mail tries to access the account, you'll be prompted for the password. Check the box to save it in the Keychain.
    6. If you've created subfolders of the Exchange inbox, log in to the server through its web interface, move the messages out, and remove the subfolders. The inbox should have no subfolders.
    7. Synchronize with the server using IMAP rather than EWS. This is only possible if IMAP is enabled on the server.
    8. Consider using Outlook instead of Mail to access your Exchange mail.
