Besides Bose SoundDock any other good speaker system for nano?

The portable Bose SoundDock sounds goods and I like how it's portable, but hoping to find something as good and less than $400. Any ideas?
BTW, listen to B&W (Bowers & Wilkins) Zeppelin in the Apple store and that sounded excellent too, perhaps even better than the Bose. It's not portable though and it's $600!

Hi,
I have bought iPod HiFi for my sitting room, Bose soundock for bedroom and JBL on stage for my kids.
My recommendation is iPod HiFi as it can easily fills up a room even as large as 300 square ft. I love Bose but only to play it in a small room.
Regarding JBL, does not mean I do not like it, but I am a bit disappointed with the quality of its hardware issue, I did buy 3 of those (first gen), and all of them broke within 1 year with the problems of loss function control on its volume keys and poor dock connections with the iPod. Heard that the new version of JBL has an improvement on these hardware issues.

  • Can anyone recomend a good sound/speaker system for an iMac 24" computer.

Hello, Can anyone recomend a good sound/speaker system for an Imac 24"? And can an external speaker system be hooked up to this type of Imac? Thank you.

Unless it is for reasons of poor eyesight, it isn't necessary to write in all caps.
Depends how much you want to spend. This one is inexpensive and produces decent sound. But it won't necessarily be room filling (that is, depending on the size of your room.) You just hook it up to the headphone jack.

  • I own a Zen Vison: M and am wanting a speaker system for my player

I know there aren't any docking speaker systems for them yet, and I honestly doubt there will be any real soon.
So what would be the best way to go?
My X girlfriend had an I-Pod (poooo) and she had this speaker system.
    http://www.alteclansing.com/product_details.asp?pID=IM7
Honestly that thing would be the only reason I would go gay for I-Pod.
What would I have to do to get something close to that?

    Wireless remote?:http://us.creative.com/products/prod...Specifications
The wireless remote confuses me becuase I swear the other night it said it suppotered the Vision: M and now it just says the Vision.
I've also found this, The Player Dock http://us.creative.com/products/prod...5&nav=features
But would it be compatible with the wireless remote?
It's so hard being a creative customer, There aren't any worth while accessories yet.
Anyway, if anyone could help me that would be great.

Hi There,?I just bought my Zen Vision M yesterday and so far I'm very happy with it. I had a Toshiba Gigabeat S30 first but the battery was horrid (seems to be very close to the Zune in design and features etc)?then I swapped for an 80GB Ipod video but there is a massi've problem with the EQ settings wanting to clip passed the digital headroom (google "ipod distortion")?Got The Creative Zen Vision M and I can say the following so far:?The sound output is strong and powers my $200 Sony in ear headphones with clean power even with bass all the way up. It's got a custom 5 band graphic EQ which works well to customise the sound to how you want it (I hate the standard MP3 EQ options of most players)? The sound quality is Very Very Good. (I'm a Hi-Fi freak and a competent home recording engineer)?I can see the screen easily even on a hot bright sunny day outdoors on 50% brightness (Very useful)?I have a couple of MP3's that were converted from WMA's and on some players they dont play but the Creative plays them fine. The use interface is easy to navigate but not quite as good as the Toshiba Gigabeat but looks nicer. The FM radio is great sounding aswell which is a bonus and you can custom name the stations. You can set photos as wallpaper and it comes with 6 player skins to customise the look. Battery seems pretty good. when its not locked the screen goes dimmer instead of turning off completely but the battery still seems to last ok. (if you lock it though it will last even longer.)?I haven't found anything bad about it yet. Toshiba Gigabeat S30? 5/0Apple Ipod Video 80GB? 2/0Creative Zen Vision M?? 0/0 so far?hope this helped.

Unfortunately, my system is not for sale
All kidding aside, there are quite a few options here. Is this for a laptop or desktop?
The rules of good audio from components, still hold true to computers. You may have some good hi-fi gear around that house that will blow away typical computer speakers. Regardless, I would invest in a good soundcard and proper amplification.

  • Is there any BADI or any other alternate in ECC for the Field exits

    Hi guys,
Is there any BADI or any other alternate in ECC for the Field exits:
    FIELD_EXIT_BP_VERS_Z
    FIELD_EXIT_BP_VERSION

    Hi,
If you are aware that these are the field exit funciton modules that get created when you create a field exit for the corresponding data element.
Hence there will not be any replacement for this FM, But you need to find where the data element is triggering(the tcode) and check in debugging if there is any BADI/Enhancement Point.
Hence check for which data element the FM belong to using the program RSMODPRF and check if they are globally activated, then they trigger on all the screen/transactions..(Tedious to replace with BADi/Enhancemnet points everywherre)
If the field exit is activated for screens, check to which transaction the screens belong to and then check for enhancement point or badi that trigers on the screen..
    Hope this helps
    Regards

  • Are there  any other PPC  operating systems

I would just like to know if there are any PPC operating systems
I know theres the mac operating systems up to 10.5
and Ubuntu works with PPC Macs
Is there anything other operating systems that work with ppc

The Wikipedia is your first resource, as BD has shown.
Here are ten popular GNU/Linux distributions (not all PPC):

Last year's OpenSUSE is PPC, and the last version of Fedora was PPC.
What's really interesting is QNX, written by two famous computer scientists (Gordon Bell designed supercomputers). You can buy the source code and program for it (that's all). It's famous for its reliability, driving NASA's deep space probes. It runs your Audi.

An OpenQNX was promised, but I don't see it. In any case, it's not for us. (Well, it might be good for watering gardens without worry.)

  • Bose Sounddock Series III Digitial Speaker

I have a Bose Sounddock series III and want to know if i can get an adapter so i can conntect my ipod classic?????

    Hi Deggie...
I decided to go with the Zeppelin... it arrived yesterday... and to be honest it out shone all my expectations... a superb.. superb piece of audio engineering and it looks like nothing I have ever seen... for once someone has exceeded Apple's industrial design.... the sound and build quality are just amazing... I have been listening from everything from Rufus Wainwright / Antony to Kraftwerk on it and it consistently blows me away.... it's like listening to my Rotel/B&W separates system in my living room... but this magical sound is coming from my iPod attached to the black silhouette...
For me it was between the Bose and the Zeppelin... cost was an issue... I had heard the Bose and was very impressed... but I loved the styling of the Zeppelin... and I have B&W speakers already and adore the sound... what I was worried about was that at twice the price, would I get double the sound and build quality.... and to be honest... the Zeppelin knocked all my fears out of the park... it's about 3 times better sound quality and the design and build are in a league of their own...
In the end... I took the leap of faith... I could get to test it here where I live in Cork, Ireland... would have to travel to Dublin... so after reading all the reviews... especially the comments on here... I took the plunge...
A superb system...!!! Superb Sound Quality... and well worth the money... think of it as an investment in your music collection...

  • A good audio system for accurate sound from Final Cut?

I am looking to purchase a new mac pro for editing, and along with it, I need a new speaker/sound system setup. What is the best option in terms cost vs. quality? Who sells the best/most accurate product on the market? Thank you.

In addition to any speakers you should budget for some speaker stands since placement and isolation is also key to getting a good sound.
When the speakers are on the stands (+vertically because thats the way they are designed to work even though they do look cool on their side+) the tweeters should be level with your ears when seated at the editing station.
You should also ensure the speakers are not obstructed by monitors or anything else.
Ideally go for the stands that have a hollow central column that allows you to ballast them with shot or sand.
Additionally placing acoustic foam on the wall behind the editing console will mop up stray frequencies.
You would be surprised how much better even cheaper end speakers sound if you set them up correctly.
btw . . this is aimed at the OP not you Studio . . just seemed prudent to add it to the solved post.

  • Recommendations for speaker systems for DVD player/recorder

I'm getting a DVD recorder soon and I hope to get some recommendations on suitable Creative speaker systems.
The room is fairly big but the TV area is rather confined..so i prefer a set whose speakers are not too big or bulky or numerous (i think i'll stop at 5.1 since i have limited space to put the speakers). Budget is flexible, but of course the cheaper the better (hopefully under $350).
The TV sounds good when watching TV programs but it reproduces an unbalanced ratio of muddy dialogue and loud sound effects when playing back DVDs. I end up having to crank up the volume so high to hear what the characters are saying, and of course, the background audio gets boosted way loud as well. So my main consideration is reproducing clear speech and dialogue and crisp (not overly loud) background audio - any recommendations for this?
Which models have an optical/coaxial input? Can i just hook up the speakers to the optical/coaxial or RCA outputs of the DVD recorder/player since most models have in-built DTS decoders? Which are the least problematic models?
    Thank you.

I think I have the same question more or less. I bought a cheap Best Buy memorex speaker docking station and I need a male to female IPOD cable so that I can Play the radio and charge the IPOD at the same time as well of course have the head phone jack plugged into the Line In that acts as the antenna.
So if I had the Male to Female cable My dock would charge and the cable to the line in acts as a Antenna. I think this makes sense..

  • Wireless speaker system for TV

Hello - What do recommend for the purchasing of a wireless speaker system that would hook up to a Samsung flat screen TV? I am completely ignorant in this ffield and appreciate any input/insights. I would guess that 4 speakers would do.
Also - what are the pros/cons for wired vs wireless?
    Thanks,  Bob

Ok, If you're looking for a more casual sound/background music, then there are a few wireless options. The Sonos devices get my recommendation.
If you're trying not to see the speakers, wireless is out of the question. I recommend you consider letting Geek Squad do the install if you're not into getting down and dirty in the attic. A consultation is only $100 and that money goes toward the final project if you decide to make it happen.

  • Good computer system for Oracle 12c

    Hi,
Presently I have one old PC at my home for learning and testing purpose. Now, it seems me very old and slow, so I am planning to buy a new desktop (Not laptop) for learning and testing purpose.  I wish to run Oracle 12c, RAC, Data Gurad, ASM, Cloud control, Oracle linux in Oracle VM Virtualbox.  Apart from these, I wish to run SQL Server 2012, Windows Server 2012, dot net 2012 Prof Edition and some other softwares.  So, please tell me what should be good enough configurations for the PC i.e. HDD, RAM, Processor, Mother board, so that at least it should be good enough for next 5 years.
    Thanks.

Yes, and this is what I am asking that what should I ask them to have in it.
You are being too picky and to be honest, if you are planning to buy a system for practice. this is way too much  of being fussy. Ask vendors around your area suggest you for an Intel Core-i7 or Xenon , a motherboard that can support at least 32gb of RAM and hard drive options. Now do NOT ask us to give you links . This is simply being lazy. Search and read reviews from different sites. Make up your mind and go for it. To be honest, I am not sure that why you are stuck up in Intel, AMD when somewhere above, you yourself has mentioned this,
"I guess, Intel's processor and motherboards are the best; of course they are high priced; 45% higher than AMD, but 65% more performance"
So seems like you do have a favorite here. Then what's the fuss, go for it. You are not making a machine to support a 24/7 system on which lives would depend, are you?

  • Are there any other internet/online channels for Vista media center?

    Hi,
I was just wondering if there are any other internet/online channels I can get for Vista Media Center?
I only have about 9 at the moment, and would like preferby free ones. I don't have satelite or cable tv so would like online ones, is there anywhere that I can get sky one without a satellite dish as prison breaks on soon.
    Enjoy your weekend.
    Ian

I dont think you will be able to find a free Sky One channel in the internet.
But Im not expert and this is only my personal opinion.
If you dont have a satellite or cable TV you could buy a DVB-T TV tuner and maybe then you will be able to receive more TV channels using MCE ;)

  • The sequence jump and any other good solution

    Hi everyone,
One existing system apply for sequence number as report number. But sometime the report number will jump. Before create each report, the system will get the sequence number. Then the sequence number will plus one automatially. but how come the sequence number will jump from 32 to 250 itc. Seems it is impossible that user failed to create few hundreds report in a quite short term.
Any oralce bug caused the problem or good solution to replace current report number design?
    Thanks in advance,
    Hawk

Some users do like gap free serial numbers. To them it seems like a no-brainer, an easy thing to do. This is just one of the ways in which a real-world metaphor fails in RDBMS, because people don't understand database architecture. More importantly people have forgotten (or, increasingly, are too young to remember) how difficult this sort of thing used to be.
In the days before computers serial numbers ("sequences") were tracked by using ledger books or self-incrementing stampers. This was usually foolproof but: [list]
[*]If someone made a mistake - stamped a docket in error or entered an invalid application form - then we had a gap, there was no way to re-use that number.
[*]Only one person at a time could get the next number: only one person at a time can write in book. Which is fine if we just have a single accounts clerk, but a nightmare if we need to share those resources. If you lock the stamper in your drawer (for safekeeping) and go off to tea, I can't stamp any dockets until you come back.
    [list]
So you can see that computers are actually quite like real life. The SEQUENCE object is geared up to be a shareable source of unique IDs. The trade-off for shareability is gaps. The only way to guarantee no gaps is the solution you have already, a code control table. But that introduces a bottleneck - you need to be careful to ensure that the table does not remained locked for a long period of time. What happens if someone starts to run a report and then goes off to tea? Will they prevent anybody else using the report? You could use AUTONOMOUS TRANSCATION to acheive that, but if the surrounding transaction is rolled back for any reason...you get a gap!
Ultimately this comes down to how often the report is run. If you've got hundreds of users running each day then you have a serious potential for resource contention. If it's only one guy running it once a week then it does not matter.
    Cheers, APC
