Best Alternative To Adobe Photoshop?

Hi,
Im looking for the best photo editing program for mac, i have adobe already and it seems that aperture wont run on my ibook g4 at the moment. Basically im looking for a very good program for apple along the lines of those software..
any ideas/suggestions??

What do you mean by "I have Adobe already"? Adobe what? Photoshop? Photoshop Elements? One of the many other Adobe products? If you mean Photoshop, then why do you need an alternative to it? Are you looking for something simpler than Photoshop? Certainly Photoshop is the best photo editor available - nothing else has such a powerful array of tools.

This sounds so far like it's a printer problem, not a Photoshop problem ... ? Have you tried printing with other applications? Does that work?
Have you checked your cables? Print drivers? Read the printer manual, etc. -- ?

any body know any FREE software, lighter than and alternative to adobe photoshop ?

There is the freeware "The Gimp", but it was a little rough around the edges last time I looked at it. You get what you pay for.
There is Corel Paint Shop Pro, which is less expensive than Photoshop. I don't think I'd call it "light", though, and it is somewhat less functional than Photoshop.

Is it best to uninstall Adobe Photoshop Elements 11 before installing Elements 12 or not?
If so, how do you save and transfer all Albums, Folders and Tags?

Can Adobe Photoshop Elements be considered as an alternative to Creative Cloud?

I am a Photoshop user but i don't like to pay monthly for using Photoshop, when i searched the web for a solution i found articles saying that Adobe Photoshop Elements can be considered as a Photoshop Alternative.
Can anyone tell me if it is ok to buy Adobe Photoshop Elements instead of Adobe Creative Cloud ? I am not a experienced or professional Photoshop user , i just use it for my office purposes like removing background from images, using layers to create new images, creating brochure etc.

It seems like all you need to do is some basic image editing , you don't need adobe photoshop creative cloud to do basic image editing.
Adobe photoshop elements is more than enough for you, you can buy it with confidence. It seems that in the article about photoshop alternatives that you provided , there are free photoshop alternatives that you could use. If you don't trust free image editors or your business don't allow it , your best choice is to buy photoshop elements. Since you are a photoshop user , it will be easy for you to use photoshop elements than any other image editor.

Is adobe photoshop the best product for me?

I am looking to design my own website and have been advised that I will need 'Adobe Photoshop CS+'. My requirement would be editing photos to remove default background, adding text and being able to move individual parts of the photo around. For example, if I have a picture of a dog on a grassy background then being able to remove the grassy background completely and being left with the picture of only the dog, adding the picture of the dog onto a white or coloured background and being able to move the picture of the dog to the left, right or middle. Adding text to this picture and different photos.
Is this something photoshop would be able to assist me with? Is this program easy to use or best to get some formal training?

Photoshop can easily do all of what you describe and much, much more. It's industry standard software which has been around for decades and is used daily by millions of amateurs and professionals.
How easy it is for you to use is something only you can determine.
Consider both Photoshop CC (subscription only for amateurs and professionals) and Photoshop Elements 12 (Aimed at hobbyists. A cutdown but very powerful version and much cheaper).
Try trials of both for free for 30 days before you purchase or subscribe.
However if you're doing your own website, you'll also need web authoring software such as Dreamweaver (complex) or Muse (aimed at hobbyists). Do you have that already?

Do you have the receipt? If you have proof of ownership, you _may_ be able to persuade Customer Support to help you out. I imagine you would need to scan and email that proof if it works at all.

What is best design tablet with stylus for use with Adobe Photoshop for this holiday seasons offering 2013?
I am trying to find a tablet with good stylus to work with Adobe Design products primarily Photoshop. I would like one that worked in layers with photoshop.
The folks a Wacom don't even answer the phone just a recorded message go to the web site with questions. Not a good sign for a company. So what is a good design tablets for pressure sensitive stylus? Will wacom cintiq tablet interface well with Apple Imac IOS 10.8?
I love my Samsung note 3 but it will not easily transfer images to apple Imac 10.8.
Please help me find tablets with good adobe design interface? Just tell me which way to jump. It is easier to leave Apple for PC or Android than to abandon Adobe knowledge. The products have to work together.

If the firewalls operate in the same fashion as Cisco ASAs, then the inter-firewall link doesn't carry traffic. It's for failover detection and HTTP replication only. But like I said, I'm not familiar with this vendor's products.

Ideally you want to get hold of the ACE sample exam & study guides for the product versions you are testing for. It doesn't hurt to know previous versions but be keenly aware of the differences in menus, filters, etc...

In the tutorials, they talk so fast and assume a lot that the beginner is left wondering and usually at a loss.
Why not make it simple and do not talk as if you are talking to an expert or yourself.

Uninterrupted useage of my legally purchased and registered Adobe Photoshop elements 10 software.

This IS not the first complaint of this nature (as it has happened to me once before, with an older version of the Adobe Photoshop software).
I have been the legal and registered owner of this software (Adobe Photoshop Elements 10) for over 2 years. In the past few weeks, each time I try to use my software, I am prompted in every instance to use my software, that an unusual request to treminate this operation has been recorded and that Adobe Photoshop 10 has become unresponsive .... with NO explanation offered. Naturally Windows has no interest in restricting my usage of a software which I paid for and duly registered when I installed it.
I have been an Adobe Photoshop Elements registered supporter/user for years (starting with Version 7). Since NO legitimate reason is known for this unexplained harrasment, I am left with no other alternative but to register a complaint. In the previous instance when this identical intrusion happened, after I investigated the reason behind such obstruction of service to a software which I was a legitimate and registered owner of, I was advised that I had more than one copy installed.
When does Adobe intend to join the rest of us in the 21st. centry and realize that most likely the majority of their customers run more than one hard drive in their PC cases, and that as a back-up precaution, the same software might be installed on the back up hard drive as well, (and still in the only PC case the owner has)?
I would respectfully request that this harrasment be discontinued IF us, "your customers", are expected to continue supporting the future Photoshop Elements releases. It is NOT our fault, that Adobe seems to be legally behind the times?
The courtesy of a response and correction of this ongoing unjustified interruption of services would be the minimum reaction that would serve as a sign of good faith and proper cutomer rights recognition?

I am going to be working on some websites for the first time and want to know if there is adobe Photoshop CS + and Dreamweaver available for Mac and is so where is the best place to purchase them(best price). Also, Is there alternatives to the two programs that are compatible with word press and are free or cost less. Thanks as always for your knowledge and help.

What Michael means, google "Adobe Creative Cloud" - that will take you to the place where you subscribe to the Adobe suite of apps (including PhotoShop and Dreamweaver, for many hundreds of $$ per year), IIRC around $500/year to use these apps.

which among this would be a perfect alternative for the iPhoto? i need something that won't be too much of a RAM hog but with loads of photo editing capabilities.

Well I'll just say go with Aperture cuz I love it and it runs pretty darn well on my MacBook and should run better on yours.
But for the real answer: This is though and the decision (between the same 3 programs) I made at the beginning of this year.
1st: None is perfect, it's scientifically impossible for a photo editing program to be perfect (does everything, easy to use and has low hardware requirements)
I think if you've outgrown iPhoto that Lightroom or Aperture will be best. Elements is good and is kind of like a mini CS3. Here's also the fact that (I'm pretty sure of this, please correct me otherwise) that Elements is not a universal app, mean it runs under Apples Rosetta technology and will be slower.
As far as Aperture vs Lightroom, well we could spend a decade on this one, but I'll help make it easier. LR (ligtroom) has somewhat better adjustment tools than Ap (Aperture). Ap has better organizational tools than LR. Ap also integrates tightly into you Mac life. Lr does run better on lower end hardware.
Both programs offer 30 trials and I suggest playing with those. Also I chose Ap because I felt constrained by Adobe's module system. I also felt it's overall interface was just too dark and not customizable enough. However I am kind of biased in this and it would be good to hear from others. IPhoto with Adobe Photoshop Elements 4 and Adobe Bridge

I have not used iPhoto before now as I have been downloading photos from my Canon and Nikon cameras using their software. I have now moved everything into iPhoto but cannot find iPhoto using Adobe Bridge so I am unable to do any editing using Elements 4. Previously I could find the Canon and Nikon photos using Adobe Bridge. With a simple click on the relevant photo it opened up in Adobe Photoshop Elements 4 and I was able to edit it. Now using Bridge I simply cannot find iPhoto thus I cannot use PSE4. Can someone help before I go crazy ? I havde called Apple support but they have been unable to help me and suggested using Discussions@Apple

Many thanks for your quick response although, as a new iMac user, the mere mention of the word "corrupt" scares me ! I previously used a PC with Windows XP and PSE3 and loved being able to sort all my photos into albums with PSE3. Unfortunately the PSE4 which I have installed on my iMac doesn't let users sort their photos into albums and the only alternative is Adobe Bridge. I only recently started to use iPhoto after a visit to an Apple Store and it's great being able to catalog my photos so easily. Unfortunately PSE is far and away superior to any editing software that iPhoto has to offer. Anyway, I'll cross my fingers and try your suggestion first thing tomorrow morning.

Adobe Photoshop Album 2.0, migrate to iPhoto?

After 20 years owning PCs, I bought my first Mac. I have about 13,000 photos cataloged in Adobe Photoshop Album 2.0, but I'm having trouble figuring out how to preserve my organization in iPhoto (or even if it's possible).
Photoshop Album uses an external database that permits hierarchies, like Places - MD_MontgomeryCo - Rockville eg. I probably have 30 or 40 counties, some with as many as 100 locations.
I don't think keywords are quite the same, although organizing by album might help. I've downloaded Keyword Assistant from a Mr. Ferry iirc, and that makes keywords much more manageable. But I can't imagine tagging to create anything like my hierarchy of places.
Any thoughts or experience?
Oh, and how do you change the headings that seem to be automagically applied to each new batch of imported files?

I have been doing some research, though, and the chances of getting the tagging out of PSA 2.0 seem very small ...
However, I have found three theoretical possibilities.
1) I have tried the first steps of this 'solution' without any success, but I will mention it anyway, perhaps you are more lucky: There is a PC based photo cataloging application called IMatch (http://www.photools.com/). For this application someone has created a set of scripts, the first of which is capable of extracting the PSA 2.0 catalog into a plain text file (http://www.impulseadventure.com/photo/flow-catalog-imatch.html). I have been unable to make this work, but if you succeed, a second script (mentioned on the above website) should be able to import the tags into IMatch. As I understand, IMatch is capable of embedding the tags as IPTC keywords in the image files. I guess you could use a free trial version of IMatch for this operation, and if you should get this far, it should be possible to import the IPTC keywords info into iPhoto with this script (http://scriptbuilders.net/files/iphotoiptckeywordimportexportutilities1.0.1.html). Well, this was all theory, but maybe it could be useful ...
2) A second possibility is, that PSA 2.0 stores its caption in the EXIF Description field. Assuming you don't use the caption in PSA 2.0, you could go through your catalog one tag after another and write each tag into the captions of all the images, it is attached to. If it's possible to search in the EXIF Description feld in iPhoto, you could reverse the process when you have imported the images into iPhoto.
3) Newer versions of PSA (called Photoshop Elements) exist for the Mac. I guess they must be able to import from older versions of PSA, but I don't know.
I don't know if this is of any use, but I just wanted to share my own thougts of this process.
