  • Which is best for converting a novel from Microsoft Office Word file to editable and sharable PDF

I am a writer who needs to convert a Microsoft Office Word File to a PDF file that can be edited, re-formatted and sent to an on line printing company.  They recommended an Adobe PDF - PDX-1a available with Acrobat Professional.  I don't need photos or graphs, etc.  The cover design is Microsoft Graphic Art.  Sizing, of pages will be 5.5 x 8.5.  Number of pages that size approx. 486.
Can you tell me if the PDF Creator is the one I am looking for?

    Good day,
If your Word file is under 100MB in size, our CreatePDF service should do the job for you to create a PDF file. The file won't be a PDF/X-1a, but if there are no photos or graphics, it may suffice. If you must create a PDF that's PDF/X-1a-compliant, you need Adobe Acrobat Professional.
Please let us know if you have any questions.
    Kind regards,
    David

does apple have an app which is equivelant to microsoft office?

However, I don't think the current version runs on any of the pre-2006 iMacs this forum covers. If you iMac is pre-2006, we can give you some options if you tell us more about your computer, mainly processor type and Mac OSX version from "About this Mac" in your Apple menu.
Microsoft makes Office for Mac but, again, what you can run depends on what iMac variant you have and its OS version.

  • How do I load microsoft office and pdf files onto an Ipad

How do I load microsoft office and pdf files onto an Ipad?

You can email them, you can use DropBox, SugarSync or another cloud service or you can use iOS file sharing.
But in all cases you need an app on the iPad that will open and save those types of files. iBooks, Adobe Readers, Good Reader and Save 2 PDF will all save PDF files.
Documents to Go, Quick Office Pro and the Apple iWorks apps will open and save the MS office files. You can Google - "iPad apps that are compatible with Microsoft Office files" and you will find other alternatives - or search the app store for more.
You can read this as well for some instruction on getting those files onto an iPad.

  • Microsoft office what version works with OS10.3.9

I am biting the bullet and want to install Microsoft Office on my iMac. What version will be compatible with OS 10.3.9? I have no desire to upgrade my operating system at this time.

Before you buy Office, check out NeoOffice http://download.neooffice.org/neojava/en/index.php
NeoOffice (freeware) is equivalent to Microsoft Office. It can open Excel files, Word files & PowerPoint files. You can also create these types of files that can be opened by PC users.

  • Microsoft office on ipad

Please suggest ipad app to read and edit Microsoft Office (Word and Excel) documents in my Dropbox or Skydrive. Thanks. - dnaik1

    <sigh> I saw that too - https://support.google.com/quickoffice/answer/3339144?hl=en
Yet another big company buys and subsequently ruins a perfectly good app just to drive business to their own online services.
Guess soon, I will not be using QuickOffice anymore (I don't use google drive and am not going to start to when dropbox and box have worked so well for me for years).  For now, I have not updated, but the old QOPro will only get flakier and worse as iOS moves on in development and features start to break.

  • How can I submit assignments online using my ipad, I have an app where I can store as well as create Microsoft office documents but when I browse to submit an assignment it only gives me the option to look in my camera roll.

I have an ipad 2 I am a new apple user except for my iPod. I purchased the ipad for school but I am a little confused. I have downloaded an app that allows me to create and store Microsoft office documents. I am enrolled in an online college and when I submit documents it makes me browse for them, the only problem with this is that when I try to submit a document from my ipad on my ipad it only brings up the option in the browse as the camera roll.

Your best bet is to contact the app developer or give another browser a try. Safari can be limited in what it'll allow you to do while other browsers have more functionality. I'd check with the tech support for your online school and then with the app developer. They can give you more specific help than we can with what limited info you've given us.

    Others, including cloud based
Microsoft Office Web Apps:These are versatile apps since they can be used on or off the cloud. Expect a simplified experience to the full version of Microsoft Office suite.
OnLive: Access both a degree of Windows desktop functionality and full Windows versions of Microsoft Office Suite.
CloudOn: This was one of the first solutions for iOS productivity. Syncing with Dropbox, CloudOn offers a more complete Windows desktop. The tradeoff is it also offers a more pared-down version of Word, Excel, and PowerPoint.
rollApp: Offers Open Office programs for iOS, also utilizing Dropbox.
LogMeIn: Remotely access your home computer's desktop from your iOS device. This solution requires coordination of logins, settings, and hookups. The free version does not offer file transfer, but you can get a separate, free app for that.
Google Docs: Now featuring Google Drive for iOS, users no longer have to battle with pressing the Refresh periodically to initiate syncing. This makes collaboration much smoother, resulting in a stronger office productivity product.

  • How can i use microsoft office on the mAC - what app do i purchase? help?!!

how can i use microsoft office on the mAC - what app do i purchase? help?!!

What aspect of Microsoft Office? Office is a suite of programs... Word, Excel, Powerpoint, etc.
You've got several potential options. Libre Office and Open Office (both googleable) are 'open source,' free, downloadable programmes that will open most MS Office programmes and perform many of the functions of MS Office. Might be an idea to have a look round for reviews (etc) first, to see if they sound like they'll match your needs.
If you're keen to use the App Store, there's Apple's own suite of programmes: Pages, Numbers and Keynote. They're a word processor, spreadsheet programme, and presentation-type programme with similar functions to Word, Excel and Powerpoint respectively. They're pretty good for most functions, and are better integrated with Macs than MS programmes. They're excellent programmes for what they do, and relatively cheap (about £14 each?).
But if you're heavily reliant on MS, want ALL the bells and whistles of MS, or need to regularly transfer files between MS programmes on other computers and your laptop / desktop computer, then they might not be the best of ideas. Keynote - IME - can have some difficulties in transferring formatting to Powerpoint.
Finally, there's MS Office Mac 2011. You can't download MS Office from the App Store, but can order the CDs from most online stores (including Apple's own store). It might be worth price hunting - if you're a student, you can usually find the programmes relatively cheap (£38 at the moment on Software4Students, though you'll need to belong to an academic institution / have a UK .ac email address). Apple's own prices on MS software are unlikely to be the best prices out there (though the product will be identical).
MS Office includes Word, Excel and Powerpoint in the basic version. The slightly more expensive version (which, I think, is the £38 one on S4S) includes Outlook. Which - IME - is far more of a nuisance than Apple's native Mail programme.
(I should probably add - I'm an academic. I own both Apple's own programmes, and MS Office 2011. I tend to use the MS programmes more, if only because they're the ones that other people tend to use, and transferring between Apple and MS programmes is a minor inconvenience. Pages also lacks Garamond, my favourite work font. The Apple progs are, however, far more beautifully integrated, and would be MORE than good enough for most users...)

  • Office Web Apps Issue - "Sorry, something went wrong" message when opening a document (any MS docx, ppt etc) in IE. With Chrome, it pops (Microsoft Office needs your permission) message and on RUN, it opens the document.

When opening any Microsoft documents ( docx, ppt etc) in SharePoint 2013,
Internet Explorer behavior : "Sorry, something went wrong" An unexpected error has occurred message and then nothing happens.
In Chrome : Pops (Microsoft Office needs your permission) message and on clicking RUN, it opens the document.
In Firefox : the documents opens, after asking which application do you want to use to open it.
The feature (Open Documents in Client Applications by Default) is not activate.
Why the MS documents are not working in IE 10?

    Hi,
According to your post, my understanding is that you failed to open Microsoft documents in SharePoint 2013.
I recommend to Run the following PowerShell in OWA Server :
Remove-OfficeWebAppsHost # To Remove any restriction
    Or
New-OfficeWebAppsHost -Domain <String> # To allow specific domain Name
In addition, you can allow OAuth via HTTP using the following commands:
    $config = (Get-SPSecurityTokenServiceConfig)
    $config.AllowOAuthOverHttp = $true
    $config.Update()

  • How can I download the latest Microsoft Office for my Macbook Air through the App Store?

How can I download the latest Microsoft Office for my Macbook Air through the App Store?

    Welcome to Apple Support Communities
Microsoft Office is not available in the App Store. Instead, you can purchase it in the Microsoft site > http://www.microsoft.com/mac
Note that there are other apps that do the same, like Apple iWork (available in the Mac App Store) or LibreOffice, open-source and free. I recommend you to give LibreOffice a try.
If you are interested in Office for Windows, you can find it in the Microsoft Store or at shops

Is there an app on the iPad that resembles Microsoft Office?  I need it for school.

The basic apple equivalent to ms office is called i works, which has three components.  Pages is word, numbers is xl, and keynote is powerpoint.  There are many subtle differences, but the are more or less functionaly equivalent.
There are also a number of third part apps available to replicate office functions, such as good reader, docs to go, and my favorite, quick office.     Read the reviews in the app store and pick the one that will do what you need.
You will also get some other suggestions here.

  • Making iWork the default apps for opening Microsoft Office documents

Is there a way to make Pages, Numbers and Keynote the default apps for opening Microsoft Office documents, such that if I double-click a Word document it launches Pages and opens, etc.? I know I can do it by double-clicking the Office document and dragging it to the appropriate iWork app in the dock, but it would be nice to have it happen by default. That way I can put Office in my rearview mirror!

Fantastic - worked exactly as advertized. Thank you both!! Office is now a distant memory (except when I have to save in MS formats to send files to the unfortunate masses).
