Best Azure Data Center choice for serving content in Canada?

Hello,
Curious - What is the best Data Center choice for a CDN if your primary audience is in Canada?  (or does it even matter?)
I've asked Azure support if a data center will be opening up in Canada, and it appears that there are no plans for such.  So, if we are serving [primarily images] via Azure Storage (CDN) -- what is the best choice for a data center; as all traffic will
be heading North (to Canada)?
Also -- does anyone know of a SIMPLE price comparison chart that shows the cost of all the major CDNs, i.e.: Azure, S3, Google, etc. with regard to storage costs and bandwidth costs?  (Might be an interesting project to build)
Thanks in advance.

Hi,
As of now, there is no plan to open a Data center in Canada. However, depending on the location you are in Canada, you may choose East US2/EastUS or West US or North Central US DataCenter which ever is near by to you.
You may check the price of your services hosted in Azure through following link:

    Hello,
    In IW31/32> Operation tab> then "Dates" screen.
    Is there a way to change Date Restriction choices for "StartPoint" and "End."
    Start Point: there are 4 choices: Must Start on, Cannot start before, cannot start after, start from resource planning
    End: Must finish on, Cannot finish before, finish not later, finish from confirmation.
    We want to limit the choice to 2 optiions on Start and End/ in addtion change the text.
    Is this possible.
    Thanks,

    Hi,
      No its not possible  to accomplish this in standard using configuration functionality.
    You may able to accomplish restricting the values on the drop down through the implicit enhancement functionality available in ECC 6.0.
    You will have to make  a screen modification to make the associated start point/ end point key text editable.

  • What are the best external backup battery choices for the iPod Touch 4G?

    Hello,
    I am so disappointed with the battery life on my iPod Touch 4G, even when I turn off location services and notifications and put it in airplane mode.
    As such, I realize that I am going to have to get an external backup battery, even though I don't like the idea of carrying around yet another item.
    What are the best choices out there, especially any ultra-portable (aka small and non-bulky) ones?  I came across this Juice Pack Air - iPod Touch 4G Case, which seems like the perfect solution, but it is on back order and seems to have been so for a good amount of time.  Who knows when it will be in stock again.
    TIA for any and all help!

  • Best Log and Transfer choices for transfering Panasonic P2 media?

    I am working on a documentary in Final Cut Pro 7.0.3.
    Most of the footage is 1080 24p EX-1 and it is being edited within a ProRes422 timeline.
    I have new interview footage, about 20 minutes shot with a Panasonic Varicam, and in the Log & Transfer window, under the P2 plug-in, it gives me various choices:
    Native AVC Intra
    DVCPRO HD
    the flavors of ProRes including 422 standard, which is what my editing timeline currently is...
    Are there any quality advantages by importing it natively (AVC Intra) and editing it within a ProRes TL? Or should I just import the Panasonic footage using ProRes 422 in L&T so it's a perfect match for my timeline?
    Thanks for any advice on what offers the best possible quality...John

    Did you shoot AVCIntra? Then bring it in as ProRes. Bringing it in NATIVE is faster, but there are no sequence settings for that format, so you'll always be rendering. And DVCPRO HD is 8-bit and anamorphic, so you'll be losing quality.
    Just use ProRes 422.

    Hi Dennis,
        All those Layer 2 extension technologies require STP to be extended between Data Centers if you need to have multiple paths between Data Centers. OTV does not extend STP rather it has its own mechanism (AED election) to avoid loop when multiple paths are enabled. It means any STP control plane issue, we don't carry to the other Data Center.
        OTV natively suppresses Unknown Unicast Flooding across the OTV overlay. Unknown unicast flooding is a painful problem in layer 2 network and difficult to troubleshoot to identify the root cause if you don't have proper network monitoring tool.
       It has ARP optimization which eliminates flooding ARP packets across Data Center by responding locally with cached ARP messages. One of the common issues I have seen in Data Center is some server or device in the network sends continuous ARP packets which hits Control plane in the Aggregation layer which in turn causes network connectivity issue.
    The above three points proves the Layer 2 domain isolation between data centers. If you have redundant Data Centers with Layer 2 extended without OTV, the above explained layer 2 issue which happens in one Data Center carries the same failure to the second data center which creates the question of what is the point of having two different Data Centers if we can not isolate the failure domain.
      OTV natively supports HSRP localization with few command lines. This is a very important requirement in building Active/Active Data Center.
    Even though your question is related to L2TP, OTV deserves the comparison with VPLS and those comparison will also be applicable for L2TP. The below link explains in detail...

  • Data Center InterConnect with Dark Fibre

    Dear all,
    We are designing a Data Center InterConnection for our two Data Centers on top of a 10G Dark Fibre.
    Our primary goal is to:-
    extend a few vlans between the two DCs;
    Support VMware vMotion betwen the two DCs;
    asymmetric SAN synchronization;
    FCoE for SAN connectivity between the two DCs;
    So may I ask if we could run both LAN and SAN connections on this DF connection? We have NX5K on one DC and NX7K on the other, are there specific devices required to enable both LAN and SAN connections?
    It would be really appreciated if anyone could shed any lights on this. Any suggestions are welcome!
    Best Regards,
    James Ren

    Hello.
    If you are running Active/Backup DC scenario, I would suggest to make network design and configuration exactly the same. This includes platforms, interconnectivity types and etc.
    Do you know what is the latency on the fiber between these two DCs?
    Another question: why do you run 6880 in VSS, do you really need this?
    Q about the diagram: are you going to utilize 4 fibers for DC interconnection?
    PS: did you think about OTV+LISP instead of MPLS?

  • Best choice for a date column in forms

    Hello,
    I want to know what is the best choice for a date field that the user have to enter manually. I read on a other post that a calender control is not directly implemented in forms 9i. So what is the best choice to be "user friendly" with a date field in a form?
    thanks in advance.

    Hi
    Don't know if this would be much use to you, but I wrote this function 'Check_Date' a while back to check whether the user had typed something which could be interpreted as a date. You'd make your date field into a Text Item, and include a call to this function (which could be in your form, or in a library) in the WHEN-VALIDATE-ITEM trigger on the item, ie:
    IF NOT check_date(:ITEMS.date_item1, NULL, NULL) THEN
        RAISE FORM_TRIGGER_FAILURE;
    END IF;This would mean that the user could type 'T' or '*' for today, '+1' for tomorrow, '-7' for one week ago, or the date in a variety of formats. When they leave the field, the function tries to resolve what they've typed into a date, and sets the field to a date in the correct format.
    ('Display_Alert' is just a function to display a named alert with a message.) It can also be used to check that the date entered doesn't fall outside upper and lower bounds. Code follows:
    FUNCTION Check_Date (text_in        IN OUT VARCHAR2,
                         lower_bound_in IN DATE,
                         upper_bound_in IN DATE)
    RETURN BOOLEAN IS

  • Best choice for a proxy server on NT?

    Hi, I'm wondering what the best choice for a proxy server is on NT?
              Currently I'm running a 2 WL server cluster, but this will grow rapidly. If
              all of the pages that I will be handling will be .jsp (with the exception of
              1 or 2 servlets), which is the best configuration (performance wise) to go
              with?
              Should I use a Weblogic Servlet, NSAPI, or ISAPI to do the proxiing. My
              guess was that IIS would perform the best on an NT machine and that it would
              not be as large as a memory hog as Weblogic would be to simply run as a
              proxy. Is there a significant amount of latency produced by the ISAPI
              bridge?
              Any suggestions?
              Thanks,

    i upgrade one of those with DP 1,42ghz and 2TB of SATA hard disk that attached to PCI SATA Sonnet card.
    installed mac osx 10.5.8 leopard.

    - How big a hard drive can I get? I installed a 2TB drive with no partion, but sometimes when i open the disk it gave me spinning cursor and it show no items on that drive, got freeze and can not turn of by shutdown menu, i have to press the power button of the mac itself.
    - if i want to make a data center like what i mention above using powermac G4 that i had, what should i do?

  • Best swing class choices for overlaying instruments/marker data on map?

    Hi everyone. The title pretty much says it all.
    I'm looking for some insight into how to draw things correctly so I don't get glitches. This is a nautical GPS application. Right now I have the following classes:
    MapView extends JPanel
    VectorMap (standalone class)
    InstrumentOverlay extends JPanel
    BoatOverlay JPanel
    GPSGridOverlay (standalone class)
    MapView is simply a place to consolidate the drawing of everything. VectorMap is actually the data storage object for a series of contour lines and geographic points with associated text labels. GPSGridOverlay and InstrumentOverlay are things that will overlay and possibly move around on top of the map. When I drag my InstrumentOverlay around, it smears any other overlayed data (like the BoatOverlay or GPSGridOverlay). It doesn't smear the background map. I can only fix it by manually calling repaint on MapView. I can post a screenshot if that would help.
    My question is, am I doing this in a silly manner? What would be a better choice of Swing classes for this task? Is it alright to use standalone classes as I have done and pass them a Graphics object to paint into, or should they be made into Swing class objects like JPanels?
    the paintComponent method of my MapView object is:
    protected void paintComponent(Graphics g) {
         Graphics2D g2D = (Graphics2D) g;
    // clear screen
         g2D.setColor(new Color(255,255,255));
         g2D.fillRect(0,0,getWidth(),getHeight());
    // manually paint components that aren't JPanels
         vectormap.draw(g2D);
         gpsgridoverlay.draw(g2D);
    // JPanel children (instrument, boat) will paint automatically after this due to
    // paintChildren() call made by swing.
    }

  • What is the best approach to migrate SharePoint farm from one data center to other datacenter

    We have two web front server and one application server and two instances for database server and we have to migrate complete farm from one data center to other data center with minimal downtime and end user impact.
    Please provide your best input on this.
    Thanks in advance.

    Create a new farm in the secondary Data Center at the same patch level with the desired configuration. Replicate the databases using the method of choice (Mirroring, AlwaysOn, etc.). Create a downtime window where you can then attach the databases to the
    new farm's Web Application(s)/Service Application(s).

  • Which is better for performance Azure SQL Database or SQL Server in Azure VM?

    Hi,
    We are building an ASP.NET app that will be running on Microsoft Cloud which I think is the new name for Windows Azure. We're expecting this app to have many simultaneous users and want to make sure that we provide excellent performance to end users.
    Here are our main concerns/desires:
    Performance is paramount. Fast response times are very very important
    We want to have as little to do with platform maintenance as possible e.g. managing OS or SQL Server updates, etc.
    We are trying to use "out-of-the-box" standard features.
    With that said, which option would give us the best possible database performance: a SQL Server instance running in a VM on Azure or SQL Server Database as a fully managed service?
    Thanks, Sam

    hello,
    SQL Database using shared resources on the Microsft data centre. Microsoft balance the resource usage of SQL Database so that no one application continuously dominates any resource.You can try the
    Premium Preview
    for Windows Azure SQL Database which offers better performance by guaranteeing a fixed amount of dedicated resources for a database.
    If you using SQL Server instance running in a VM, you control the operating system and database configuration. And the
    performance of the database depends on many factors such as the size of a virtual machine, and the configuration of the data disks.

  • Best suggestions for Windows content creators?

    All of our iTunes U admins are using Macs, so getting the initial uploads of data for our iTunes U site is not a problem. However, we have decided to decentralize content creation/control to individual departments, and many of those reps use Windows.
