Best battery for Powerbook Titanium?

Hi,
I just bought a Powerbook Titanium 1 Ghz from a friend and want to replace the battery. The battery gives me about 1 hour of life and runs dry even when it is off. I've seen 3rd party batteries for about $90. Can anyone point me in the right direction on my first step to improving this classic?
Thanks.

Does anyone know anything about these batteries? I see them sold from various resellers and on ebay, I think they are far east manufactured and are much cheaper than the newtech batteries.........
The question is, are they any good?

I have two batteries which are down to about a quarter capacity and don't really want to spend another £100 before Christmas on a new battery.
Cheers

  • Best driver for XFI Titanium

Hello I am new here and confused with all these driver options and differences with sound between Windows XP and Windows 7 as I've heard that from Vista Microsoft took away proper hardware support from these cards.
Please kindly can someone provide me the best driver for use for Creative XFI-Titanium PCIe sound card?
I need it to perform surround sound in headphones via CMSS-3D I think it is called.
    Thank you very much.

    `Thanks for replies.
    So I have installed the?
    SB X-Fi Titanium PCI-E Install Disc .0
    from http://forums.creative.com/t5/Sound-Blaster/SB-X-Fi-Titanium-PCI-E-Install-Disc--0-unofficial/td-p/556425
I am not sure what the difference between the support pack and this is to be honest. So I just installed this one as it comes with more updated software.
    edit:
Sorry I forgot to mention that in device manager under sound controllers it lists
    Creative SB X-Fi
Does this mean that my system is not properly recognised or doesn't it display the specifics such as Creative X-Fi Titanium for example? Thanks...

  • The best battery for e71

i have found a 1600mA battery for my e71 but i don't know if it's worth buying it just for the extra 100mA.
i currently have the original 1500mA one. are the extra 100mA going to make a big difference?
    cheers
    cheers

You have found a 1600mAh battery for your phone. That is well and fine but will it do what it says on the label? My experience with non OEM batteries is that most of them are very poor quality. They may be cheap but the performance starts dropping off rapidly and you can never trust them not to blow up.
My advice is, unless it is a reputable make, stick with the Nokia original.

  • Could someone please recommend a replacement battery for my Titanium Powerbook?

My 667 Mhz Titanium powerbook (A1001) is working extremely well since I installed 1) new logic board, 2) Airport card, 3) maxed out the RAM.
I also bought what appeared to be a virtually unused (but nonfunctional) Powerbook from Ebay - no scratches, no paint missing - and moved everything into there.
However I need a new battery since it only runs when it's plugged in, if not the battery only lasts for about 10 minutes.
Does anyone know of a reliable place to get new batteries and do they fit nicely in the Tibook?
    Thank you!

  • PRAM Battery for Powerbook G4 17" 1.33 problem

I have an Aluminum Powerbook G4 17" 1.33 GHz computer and need to replace the PRAM battery. This poses a problem. Typically they sell the PRAM battery/USB board as one replacement because the two rechargeable 3.7 v coin CGL 2430 batteries are spot welded & soldered to the USB board in parallel. The replacement part is 922-6064. When I look for a replacement, all I can find are used parts which mean that the batteries have a diminished life. Panasonic stopped making those batteries in 2005 and I can't find anything comparable. Even the places that advertise new parts say they only have used in the end. Next model up, the 1.5 GHz Apple made a battery pack that can be replaced. NewerTech makes that replacement. I would like to replace the batteries on my present USB board - new ones can be soldered or a plug can be added, but I have run into these problems. Those coin batteries are not available and I know the voltage, but not the amperage of those coin batteries that were used. NewerTech can't tell me the voltage/amperage of their battery pack for the newer version Powerbooks, so I don't know if jury-rigging one of those packs would work with my version of the Powerbook. I can't find Apple's specs anywhere for the voltage/amps that should go into the PRAM/USB boards in the 1.33 model and the 1.5GHz model so that I can figure how to do this repair modification. The USB boards for both models look the same, but I don't think that they are, but what is the difference? Anyone have an idea how I can do this modification to add PRAM power to my USB board?

Actually, this is a very minor problem, if the negligible incidence of posts here about replacement PRAM batteries dying is any indication. Apparently there are very, very few users of Powerbooks (going all the way back to the G3s of 1998-2001) whose use of these machines has outlasted a second PRAM battery. I still have a working 2003 Titanium Powerbook with its original PRAM battery in place, a working 1998 Powerbook G3 with its original PRAM battery in place, and a working 1997 Powerbook 1400C with its original PRAM battery in place. I doubt that new replacements are available for any of those batteries, but I wouldn't hesitate to buy used ones if I intended to use any of those computers for several more years. I suggest you go ahead and do the same, and install the used battery yourself to keep the cost down.

  • Ethernet Bridge for Powerbook Titanium G4 instead of Airport

I have a macintosh titanium G4 powerbook that can only take an airport card, not airport extreme. I decided instead that I should buy a ethernet bridge. Can I buy a bridge that will access the internet at 54 kbps and then use an ethernet wire to my laptop? If so, will this give me 802.11g speed? Can anyone recomend such a bridge (e.g. linksys)? Thanks

Since you have a portable laptop (PowerBook), I would think a compatible 802.11g PCMCIA card would be the best solution.
    Let's take a step back...
802.11b is probably faster than your internet connection. Therefore changing to 802.11g won't give you faster internet access.
802.11g will only increase the speed of large file transfers between computers on your network.

  • Best OS for Powerbook G4 1.25 2 Gigs RAM

    Hello,
I am replacing the HD on my PB and am wondering what is the best OS to run. I have been using Jaguar. Will running Leopard be that much faster? I have Tiger from my Mac Pro, can I install this on a second machine, my PB?
    Thanks.

Hi, Chicago. You couldn't install anything on your PowerPC-based Powerbook from the discs that came with your Intel-based Mac Pro even if the license agreement didn't forbid doing so, as it does. Panther or Tiger would be substantially faster on the PB than Jaguar; I don't know about Leopard. If you ever use any Classic applications on the Powerbook, be aware that Leopard doesn't support Classic mode. Panther and Tiger both do.
To install Panther, Tiger or Leopard, you'll need to buy a retail (not model-specific) installer disc set for the version you prefer.

  • What is the best battery for the magic mouse? I replace every month

What is the best batteries to use with the Magic Mouse? I am changing mine every month, I purchased the IMAC in April this year.

Good choice...even if that do not last as long as Apple claims (like any batteris DO ) you have a set charged and ready to go...no trip to the store for batteries at 2:00 AM.  And far be it for me to advocate doing thie, any rechargeable batteries of the same specs will work with the Apple charger...they don't have to be the shiney silver batteries

  • Pinout for Powerbook Titanium yoyo power supply

I have a Tibook G4 with the old original circular yoyo power supply, but I presume the barrel connector that plugs into the back of the Tibook is the same for all Powerbooks. Is the silver colored barrel shield the ground? Is the gold tip the +24 Volts? I cannot get any of my three PSs to register on my voltmeter above the noise level using these two connection points. The gold center pin actually has 3 isolated portions, like a stereo audio jack. Are these used at all, or is just the tip used? It just seems odd that all three of my PSs could be dead.

Hi, Jeff. I can't help you with the pinouts or the voltages you should be reading between different contacts, except to say that on my own perfectly functional adapter, I don't get a 24V reading from any combination that I can get the probes to. It is true that the ringlight on my adapter plug lights up green when I test for voltage between the outer shield and the innermost pin contact, but the voltage is very low. Of course getting a meter probe to the innermost ring on the center pin without also contacting the outer cylindrical shield is a pretty good trick, and I haven't been able to test any combination of the three contacts on the center pin — it's just too clumsy. But my hunch is that unless all four contacts are in touch with the right parts of the DC-In port in the Powerbook, whatever is supposed to happen then doesn't happen and can't be detected. My suspicion is that you just can't do any meaningful testing with a meter when the adapter isn't connected to the PB.
The Apple tech service manual for the Tibooks says nothing at all about testing AC adapters, probably because if they work they work, and if they don't you throw them away. There's no repairing them — it's just not worth the time. When a perfectly good third-party adapter costs $50, nobody's going to pay a technician $100/hour to fix one. Therefore there are no instructions or documentation telling how to go about it.
