  • PX Best Practice doc for vSphere?

Is there a best practice doc for utilizing the PX devices in a vSphere environment?  Specifically I'm interested in 'Boot from SAN' for two vSphere 5.1 Host servers (RD630's) dual switch iSCSI connected to a PX12-450.
If no Best Practice then perhaps a Config doc?
    Thanks

    Hi neilchapman,
I am not too familiar with vSphere personally or how to boot from SAN, but as far as I know you create the iSCSI LUN on the NAS device and use vSphere to connect to the LUN. Do you need help with setting up the iSCSI LUN or with configuring vSphere? If you need assistance with vSphere, you might want to contact VMware support: http://www.vmware.com/support/vsphere/

  • Want the best practices docs on Oracle database Admin provided by Oracle

    Hi there,
I looked at everywhere and didn’t find the best practices docs on Oracle database administration especially on creating db in oracle 10g dbs. I can find bits and pieces here and there. But I didn’t find all incorporated in one. Could somebody direct/provide me on this?

ok, I'm not looking for the oracle provided manual to find out the best practices in db field. I'm looking for the best practices when creating the db in oracle db, for example. I can read all the oracle manual in Oracle tihiti world. But I don't know the most used and practical things to do when creating the db:- If I have to define what should be the best practices when creating the db, here are the checklist:
Here are the best practices when creating the Oracle 10 DBs:
    1.     Create meaningful database name
    2.     Create the directory structure following the Optimal Flexible Architecture(OFA)
    a.     Give suffix for the redo log .LOG
    b.     Give suffix for the data file .DBF
    c.     Give suffix for the Control file .CTL
    3.     Enable Password complexity
    4.     Enable ARCHIVELOG Mode
    5.     Use User Oracle Managed File
    6.     Create separate tablespace for data files and Indexes
    7.     Put archive log in different multiple drives
    8.     Multiplex redo log files, and control file
    etc.
I want to see what other db gurus considers the best practices in the field.

There isn't much "hands on" material available.
Transaction Code ABAPDOCU and the book "Sam's Teach yourself ABAP/4 in 21 Days" did the trick for me.
    BC400 is worth it too.

  • Best beginner Java 3D engine?

    Hi all,
What is the best Java 3D engine for a beginner? I have never done any 3D work in Java or any other langs, so I need an easy to use engine to make "simple" things (Java 3D API was pretty confusing).
    Also it's gotta be free.
    Thanx

Yes, Java3D is quite steep at first but 3D graphics is quite difficult so no wonder.
Java3D is build on top of OpenGL (and as alternative also DirectX). There now exists a Sun supported Java binding to OpenGL called JOGL. It's much more low-level than Java3D of course but sometimes it's easier without all that abstraction,

At this game forum you may find other alternatives,

  • Best beginner book for Oracle Application Express?

    Hello Dear members,
I've got 12 years of experience developing Oracle applications using Oracle Forms and PL/SQL, that bit I'm an expert.
But I'm torn between which book to buy to learn Oracle Application Express.
The Expert Oracle Application Express vs Oracle Apex Cookbook is my main competition.
I'm already doing the 2 day Developer guide, but want to go in a bit deeper.
    All of your suggestions welcome.
    Thanks
    Ravi

    Ravi,
If you are not at all familiar with Application Express i would reccomend getting Beginning Oracle Application Express 4 because you will find that Pro Oracle Application Express 4, Second Edition, Expert Oracle Application Express and Oracle Apex Cookbook assume you have more of an unserstanding and some parts wont make sense. I had friend of mine get an advanced book and then immediately go back and get the beginner book because it just didnt have much meaning to him.
    Thanks,
    Tyson Jouglet

  • Typos in Oracle Spatial Best Practices doc by Dan Geringer

    Hi there,
I was looking through Dan Geringer's notes setting up SDO_JOIN to run in parallel here:
    http://download.oracle.com/otndocs/products/spatial/pdf/oow2010/spatial/spatialoow10_bestpractices.pdf
Anyhow, noticed few boo-boos all having to do with table aliases in the examples. They are not too hard to catch but still might trip up folks.
On page 37, the example is missing a table alias of "a". E.g. it should say
CREATE TABLE result1 NOLOGGING PARALLEL 4 AS
    SELECT a.rowid1 AS risk_zones_rowid,
    a.rowid2 AS parcels_rowid
    FROM TABLE (SDO_JOIN ('RISK_ZONES', 'GEOM',
' PARCELS', 'GEOM')) a;but its missing that final "a".
On page 38, the table aliases are incorrect in the relate statement. E.g. it should be
CREATE TABLE result2 NOLOGGING PARALLEL 4 AS
    SELECT /*+ ordered use_nl (a,b) use_nl (a,c) */
    sdo_geom.relate (b.geom, 'DETERMINE', c.geom, .05) relation,
    b.risk_zone_id, c.parcel_id
    FROM result1 a, risk_zones b, parcels c
    WHERE a.risk_zones_rowid = b.rowid
AND a.parcels_rowid = c.rowid;Nothing too serious but thought I'd point it out.
    Cheers,
    Paul

    Hi Paul,
Thanks for pointing out the typos. Will forward them to Oracle Technical Doc group to have them corrected.

  • Best practice Doc

    Hi,
    I just want to confirm
    AdfFacesContext ctx = AdfFacesContext.getCurrentInstance();
    if
    (!("*d6*").equals(dialogEvent.getComponent().getId().toString()))
    ctx.addPartialTarget(this.getXXXs());
    this.executeXXX();
coding above code in ManagedBean for a .jsff page is a coding standard? Where d6 is an id of a dialog <af:dialog id="d6">
Please share a document or link to support your reply. As per me its not. As id can be changed.
    Thanks,

    Hi,
Usually, work with ids is not a best practice, in general development web.
    What is your use case?

  • Best word doc editor?

I'm looking for a word doc editor and viewer. i know about quickoffice and docs2go but don't need excel or powerpoint also that price tag is rough. does anyone know of a good word doc editor app? possibly one that can sync with my computer or can email docs?

    Lets try this again,
    You wrote:
Just something, where I could (1)create a new word doc direct on my phone (2) or edit a one already on my phone,
    (3) Once home, transfer it to PC.

    Hi,
You can accomplish the same work with the basic edition of Dos to Go.
Create a directory on your media card for documents. Via My Computer
Load your blank expense reports, weekly status report, and base documentation.
    (1) You can then open Docs to go, retrieve the named blank, fill your expenses daily,
Then save to the media card. (2) BY "daily" meaning you can edit the document.
You can also email the document, or (3) keep it until you can transfer to your PC.
You do not have to email them to yourself.
    (3) Another great tip you can use, is to keep the files synchronized with the old "My Briefcase"
in Windows. When you Plug in via USB, the PC will sync the media card with the doc directory.
Let me know if you need info on this.
Why would you not be able to use Sheets to go as an attachment? File size?
    Thanks,
    Bifocals
    (3) You can use a PC to transfer info between the PC and the media card.
Basically you will attach the USB to the BB and the PC. Don't use desktop
manager. Go to "My Computer" on the PC and the BB will show as a flash drive.
Then you can "drag and drop" files to the BB.
Use the following settings in the memory option of the Storm:
    Media card support ON
    Encryption mode NONE
Media transfer protocol ON (Storm and Bold only)
    Mass storage support ON
Auto enable Mass storage support when connected ON
    What part is not clear?

  • Best beginner photoshop package??

Can anyone recommend the best package for me as i am starting to get into blogging and want to be able to design some great images but only want the basic tools?

I think PSE8 would best suit your requirements. It has basic as well as advance editing tools available.  Also for basic editing, it has guided edits to help the user to perform the editing.

  • Best new beginner book out there?

What's the best beginner book out there in your collective opinions? Thanks.
    Let me obviously clarify.....for "Oracle".

As example, if you need to learn basic SQL then there is the Apess book on Oracle SQL
by the late Lex de Haan which was pretty good. I do not know if it is still in print. An excellent recommendation as a tutorial to Oracle SQL and SQL*Plus, and it is still in print. An introductory tutorial and good typing practice at that, but not a reference as one review complains. For that I would print PDFs of the fine manuals.
Beginning Oracle Programming is a sort of Concepts Guide for dummies, and this is no small achievement. Adds to the readability and the when and why to use features that is often lacking in the documentation.
Ultimately you want to know how to navigate the SQL Reference it will save you and the database a lot of effort in the long run.

  • Importing SECTIONS (not Styles) from ePub Best Practices Sample Doc

I have successfully imported STYLES from the ePub Best Practices Sample Document (http://support.apple.com/kb/HT4168) into an existing Pages document. However, the Best Practices doc also has defined SECTIONS which you can see by clicking on the sections button in the toolbar.
How can I get those defined Section types (i.e. Table of Contents, Index, etc.) into my other document which does not included those?
    Thanks,
    Jeff

    Hi Jeff,
With the sample document and your new Pages document, View > Page Thumnails. Click on a thumbnail in the sample doc, Edit > Copy. Click in the thumbnail pane in the new doc and Edit > Paste. I guess this does the same as selecting and copying the text in the doc window.

    Ian.
