Best choice for new RAM on nForce SLI Platinum

    OK,
So it would then seem that going for the tighter PC3200 RAM is better that going for the more relaxed PC4000 RAM
It would also seem that the Corsair is a slightly better buy than the Kingston    In general, which overclocks better Corsair or Kingston?
    Thanks,
    D.
Kingstone have a reputation for producing faster compatible memory to replace that found in HP, compaq's etc. Corsair do have a reputation for producing memory for overlockers. Note that dosn't mean memory which overlclocks, it means memory which overlockers can use to push the FSB harder and overlock the CPU.
This is really not a problem for AMD64 users. P4 systems have a poor memory peroformance, and hate running asych. You can push an AMD64 by running the memory asynch without noticing from my expericnace testing my system.
My current system is running at 305 FSB, 1/180 devisor for 275mhz. Everest benchmarks my latency at 43ns, read speed 7300mb/s, write speed 2800mb/s.

  • K8n neo nf3 250: best bios for OC.

    Hi.
What is the best bios for overclocking on msi k8n neo fsr/platinum. I use bios 1,47 now, but i think it is playing games with me.
I have no problem running my cpu at 10/255/2550, but my Ocz 3500 EB wont follow that long on 1:1. So i tried running this at 9/280/2520 and my memory running at 5/6. But my cpu wont get totally stabil here...
My temperatures here is 32c idle and 48c load.
Is there a better bios for OC?

    Try 1.42

  • K8N Neo2 Best bios for Opteron 146?

    Hi guys,
Forgive the rather basic question, but I haven't been around for a long time and things have moved on a piece.
I am running an old Athlon 64 3200+ in my Neo2, with a very old bios.  (See my sig below for current specs.)  Heck, if it works, don't mess with it!  But tomorrow a new Opteron 146 arrives, so I guess I will need to update the bios.
So what's the recommendation for the best bios to go for?
Will I be OK in "jumping" so many bios versions, or would it be best to do it incrementally?
And finally, I remember some issues about Windows not booting after upgrading the bios.  Has this been resolved, or will I need to do a clean Windows install as well?  I really *do not* want to have to do a clean install.  That would be horrendous.
    Thanks for any advice.
    Cheers

9x290 (2,6Ghz) is a very good OC, passing prime95 with both core´s tested.
    I can't complain about a 45% OC... Started with 1.8Ghz.

I "only" manage 10x270 ( 2,7Ghz) primestable so far with my DFI and X2 3800+, since one core gets unstable at 2.8Ghz and beyond.
( But I´m still happy, running Pi at 33sec with 3-3-3-7 RAM / Sandra cpu benchmark gives 24.067mips and Sandra mem.benchmark 6.733mbs )
What kind of voltages are you running to get your OC?
I think that I'm starting to reach the limit of what my Neo2 Plat can supply to the Opty - In BIOS, I specified 1.5v+5% and it gives me only 1.45v or so....

  • Best place for new RAM?

    I have a circa 2004 1.5 GHz 17" PB with one 512 Mb DIMM.
Where would be good place to go for a 1 Gig DIMM for the second slot? And what should I expect to pay?
    Thanks, gang, in advance!

Choose a reputable dealer who tests and guarantees compatibility with your model Mac, offers a lifetime warranty, and a no-cost (no shipping, no restocking fee) return or replacement if it doesn't work.
If you are in the USA, my favorite dealer is Data Memory Systems. www.datamem.com Their service is exceptional, I have dealt with them for over 6 years and theor prices are at or near the best available.

  • [AMD] Whats the best BIOS for overclocking on the K8N Neo-2 Platinum

any one know which one is best.
    thanks

I have no idea what biosversion that is the best in general for OC the K8N Neo2 P.
I use 1.5 and it´s the only version I´ve used.
I believe not many people have tested OC potential for all 6 versions 1.0 - 1.5.
( even more if you include the beta´s).
I would say OC potential depends more of what hardware you are going to use.
Good RAM and a good CPU stepping are in most cases more important then biosversions.

  • Best Bios for OC 865pe Neo2 LS

as my OC has become unstable when upgrading to 2.1, i wonder with which bios version the members of this forum are able to achieve the highest OC!
i will downgrade maybe to 1.9?
please post your thoughts and results.....

I found bios v1.9 the best so far, only a few fsb points difference between this and 2.0 and 2.1 but much better than anything else below 1.9, also the most stable for my setup ( see sig ).

  • Best bios for z68-gd65 G3

I am using the latest bios from the msi website (v25.8) and have a 2600K. Ever since upgrading to the newer bioses with the new management engine, my overclocking potential has really gone down.
I ran at 4.6 Ghz stable before but now I am struggling with 4.3 GHz. I have tried to increase the voltage but that has very little impact on the stability.
So do you have any input on what bios revision would be the best for overclocking a SB on this motherboard?
I have seen post making it possible to downgrade the ME aswell?
    Regards M

Ivy bios versions won't work well for oc with Sandy cpus on 6 series chipsets.
You can try the betas with suggested method: https://forum-en.msi.com/index.php?topic=163866.0
To be sure you can downgrade to the latest Sandy version 22.8 with the following method (it won't work any other way!):
    >>Use the MSI HQ Forum USB flasher<< and with it point to the attached and NOT unpacked (!) bios archive (Mode 1: Point to Archive). After flashstick has been prepared boot from it and let it flash the bios.

  • Cant see option in bios for changing ram speed

i want to change ram from 400 to 333 but cant seem to see the option in the bios, where abouts is it?
btw the reason im asking is because im trying to make the system more stable during 3D games... i already replaced power supply with a nice new enermax which seems to have reduced the crashing to destop but its still happening quite a bit in some games, so this is gonna be the next thing ill try.
also, what differene would changing aperture size from 128 up to 256 do usually?

    Hi
We will assume its a K8T Neo Fis2r Mobo, with AMD 64 CPU.
Page 3- 11 of your manual  Advanced Chipset features.
Memclock Mode, set it to limit.
Memclock Value set this to 333,
    Exit and save.
If you vid card has a big memory then it should not need much of the Mobos resouces. Modern cards don't need any resources from mobo, but set it to what you like, won't do any harm. If you think it runs better then good.
Crashing -  not BSOD, just freesing or closing games I assume. Ram may help, also try raising the DDR and AGP volts in Frequency/ Voltage control.
Are you Ocing rig, it could be overheat prob, are you running default settings?  If you are  OCing then lower the vcore volts to 1.425, will not affect performance, but will drop the CPU temp by around 5C.
    Cheers

  • Best BIOS for DTR CPU

Wondering if anybody with a DTR CPU can tell me which BIOS version they know will work.  I can boot at a 4x lock, and then proceed to windows for full speed via clockgen right now, but that is with the defacto shipping BIOS version.
I have a 3200+ DTR and am getting zero results with overclocking (actually currently underclocked to 9x200 for full prime95 testable stability).  I want to try a new BIOS, but the last thing I need is to lock myself out by updating to a version which won't even boot a DTR.
Questions, comments, answers?  Fire away, and thanks in advance.

First off, thanks for the quick reply Ish.  What improvments went into 1.2b5, do you know?  Did it help your overclocking results at all?  Also, I just wanted to mention that tedinde from the overclockers.org forum noted that half multi's can be detrimental to stability and performance.  Thanks again for the info, I'll track down a copy of 1.2b5 and see what happens...
Are you using a raid0 by the way?  I'm wondering if that might be why my setup won't o/c worth a  so far...

  • Best BIOS for the job? (K8N Neo4f)

I have, as stated in the subject, a K8N Neo4F mobo and an AMD Venice core CPU.  I have read that there are BIOS specifically tailored for Venice core, and some are not.  Which version of BIOS should I be using to optimize my system?  Honestly, as I am not at home, I'm not even sure which I have, but I believe it is 1.6.  I do seem to be hitting the same walls that I have read other people hit without a BIOS modded for Venice core.  Is there any truth to this?  I am still rather new to all of this, as this is my first build, would it not be advisable to start messing with this stuff?
    Thanks for any help.

Is there any problem with your hardware? If you don't have any problems do not flashed it as it might cause you problem unless it has a problem then you have no choice to flashed it. Many ppl used Ver 1.9 while other's don't. You may look into this forums where you have the same spec's of yours.See from my sig as it might help you how to flashed the bios. Gd luck.

Each Riser has 4 DIMM slots. memory must be installed in identical pairs.

  • Best Bios in your opinion for Neo2 Plat

Trying all these bios's myself but just curious as to what you ppl have found to be the best bios for your setup with overclocking in mind.
The best I can do so far with my crappy samsung TCCC chips is 265X9.5 or 250X10.5
Also any Ideas why system won't boot overclocked and setting CPU multi to an even number meaning 8,9,10,11,12  the only stable boots I can get are with a half number 9.5, 10.5, 11.5 or 12
Thanks for your thoughts and comments.

Well at 245x10.5 your RAM is running at 233......(245x10.5)/11...
As stated before when half multipliers are used, the RAM is divided by the next whole multiplier.
Also, at 3 and 4 multi, your RAM is not running at the speed you think it is either, but slower.
A full multiplier table can be seen here, posted by Oskar Wu, a DFI mobo tech http://www.xtremesystems.org/forums/showthread.php?t=41595&highlight=multiplier+table
Thank you thank you.  Now it totally all makes sence.  I know I have a really chitty ram but now it makes sence that it won't go that high in ram frequency.
But my question still stands what bios to you all like to use on this mobo.
