Best Buy Rewards Elite Member was Lied to and severely mistreated by BESTBUY

BEWARE TO ALL CUSTOMERS WHO READ THIS.....Beware of lying BB salespeople and condescending BB Managers.
The following excerpts are my (an 'Elite' customer) attempts to open a dialog with the management at BESTBUY. A month has gone by now, I have sent the following information 7-9 times and this "company" has yet to reply. If you are a potential BB customer please read this and realize that when BB salespeople tell you something you must take their words with a grain of salt and all the while think of them as, well, Used Car Salespeople. If you are in fact BB Management you should know after reading this that I was one of those valued customers that you spend $MILLIONS$ each year to attract and do nothing to EARN. I have spent a ton O' cash over the last few years at BB on 3 Big Sceens, 2 i7 Computers, all of our iPhones, multiple office printers, 3 years of GEEK SQUAD memberships, 2 Kindle Fires, 2 iPad minis, 1 surround sound system, 2 BluRay players, Many software packages and finally ONE REMOTE CAR STARTER which is the reason for my initial query.
--THE FOLLOWING IS THE CORRESPONDENCE THAT I SENT REPEATEDLY TO BESTBUY--
Best Buy Management,
I have now sent 3 emails to your “Lisa.Smith” email address and after about two weeks have not yet received a reply. What do I need to do to get a reply from Best Buy. I’ve spent thousands of dollars (That’s $1000.00’s) and now feel that I am being severely disrespected by the management at Best Buy. I don’t make threats but I am very disappointed in that fact that I have been so loyal as a customer to a company that seems not to care about me as a customer at all. It’s odd that someone can spend so much money to a company thinking that such loyalty would be rewarded, only to be ignored and disrespected.
I am very well connected and respected in the media in St. Louis as well as in all social media and I do not want to use those platforms to air this out but I will if I don’t get a response from Best Buy.
The following is the entire initial email that includes what has transpired to this point:
Hi Lisa,
My name is Ken {removed per forum guidelines}. I am a “My Best Buy” Elite member and my acct.# is @@@@@. In the past I have purchased thousands of dollars worth of products from Best Buy. I have always been a loyal Best Buy customer and I’m writing you today to ask that I receive the same respect, loyalty and trust that I have given to Best Buy over the years.
Last December I went to the Best Buy on Watson Road in St. Louis, Missouri looking for an item for my wife for Christmas called a Viper 2-way Remote Start System, model number 4806v. I saw it at BestBuy.com. I went back to the area where you keep this item and the sales guy was really nice and helped me find the only one that you had left in stock. I told him that I wanted to have this installed in my wife’s car. I told him the year and model of the car, (2007 Toyota Rav 4) and asked if this was all that I needed or if I had to pay for installation. The salesman told me that their was no additional charge for installation. He said that all I needed to do is purchase the product and take the box home today. Give the present to my wife and then have her set up an appointment to have the remote system installed. He said that it could take as much as 3 hours and I was fine with that.
Today, my wife called the local Best Buy on Watson to set up an appointment to have the remote installed in her car and the sales guy on the phone told her that they could do it on February 23rd but there would be an additional charge of $250.00 since there were other parts that were needed to have this product installed in a Toyota Rav 4. My wife called me to tell me what was said and I then called and asked for a manager to discuss this issue.
A manager named Tim got on the phone. I explained everything to Tim as I have written in this email. After listening to me, Tim was very brief and simply said; “So, I can give you a refund for your purchase if you have the receipt.” I told him that I was happy with the product and my wife really wanted this in her car, I just needed to know how I could get it installed for the price that we originally agreed on. He asked if I remembered the salesperson’s name and I told him that I didn’t but was it listed on the receipt? He said “No the salesperson’s name was not listed on the receipt.” Tim said that I couldn’t get the item installed in my wife’s car unless I paid the extra $250.00 or I could get a refund. He added that if he gave 200 dollar installations to every customer who called and claimed they were told this then Best Buy would go out of business. I asked Tim if he was calling me a liar and he said no but I should understand why he can’t simply believe every customer who calls to complain. I asked him to be reasonable and let the installation go as originally agreed on and Tim said that he would not allow this but I could get a refund. I asked him if I could talk with someone higher up and he said that there wasn’t anyone higher up that I would be able to talk to. He said that those decisions stop with him. I told him that he was being very disrespectful considering all that I purchased from his location and he was silent for a second and then replied, “So, do you want a refund?” I told him not at this time but I would be calling his Corporate office and he replied with “Have a nice day.”
I then got online and found the BestBuy number “1-888-237-8289” and called it. I finally got to a live person who was very nice and they attempted to get me in contact with customer relations. The online salesperson kept coming back to me saying “don’t hang up I’m just trying to get a number to call.” She then told me that she was trying to get “Justin” on the phone to help me. After literally 15+ minutes Justin got on the line, he asked my name and then the phone beeped twice and hung up.
I was shocked but repeated the process above. After again waiting on the phone the online salesperson get me in touch with Customer relations. I started to speak to the person in CR and again, the phone beeped twice and hung up.
I tried a third time, explained everything in this email so far to the new online salesperson and she gave me the extension number to call if this happens again. It happened again.
I again called and asked the next online salesperson to connect me with x@@@. She said that they weren’t picking up but they were having some phone issues. She then gave me your email address and told me to tell you everything that I told her.
Here we are.
Please let me know what I need to do from here. If you look up my account you will see the extensive list of purchases that I have made from Best Buy. I believe that I have more than displayed my willingness to pay fair prices for good quality items but I will not be “bait and switched.” I think that the manager Tim had it wrong. He won’t go out-of-business if he helps qualified customers but he will if continues to treat good customers with such disrespect.
Thank You and I look forward to your reply.
Ken {removed per forum guidelines}
---POST NOTE-- For me, it's not about the $$$$ but about the way Tim talked to me and my wife. I have a wife and 11 and 15 year-olds. I estimate between them and I we will be spending well over $10,000.00 over the next four years for electronics and related services. The only question is will I be spending it at BEST BUY? After all of this, would you?
Please respond as soon as possible.
Thank You,
Kenneth {removed per forum guidelines}

Welcome to the forum, iChannel, and thank you for being an Elite My Best Buy member!
Minnesota winters can be bitterly cold, and I can imagine having a remote starter installed in my car would be amazing. It was very nice of you to purchase one for your wife, and I’m sure she was absolutely thrilled to have it installed. It’s regrettable to hear that some additional installation requirements came as such a shock to you though, and I truly apologize if we failed to properly explain the necessary costs associated with our car services.
When helping you figure out the essentials for a particular car installation, we go by a fit guide of sorts to provide you a cost estimate of the service. We do this by narrowing down the year, make, and model of your car and figuring out what components are necessary for the service you are wishing to purchase. It sounds like our associate who helped you find the stereo you were looking for may have been unaware of this guide, and consequently, may have provided you some inaccurate information regarding our services.  This could explain why one of our certified auto technicians may have told your wife additional parts and payment were required to perform the remote starter installation.
No matter the situation though, our associates and managers should always be kind and courteous when assisting you, and I’m sorry if we were less than helpful when trying to work this out with you. It’s clear to me this situation has been far from ideal, and while I cannot erase what’s already transpired, I’d appreciate the opportunity to try to assist you. Please know I’ve sent you a private message to collect some further information from you to see what options we may have available to us. You may view it by logging into the forum and clicking on the envelope icon in the upper right-hand corner of the screen.
Thank you for posting,

  • I used to love my Best Buy Rewards mastercard

For probably the last 6 months+ if I made any of what Citibank considered suspicious charges they would freeze my card, turn down all purchases I attempted to make and leave a message on my home answering machine for me to call them.  Some of these suspicious charges were for food purchases at places I go to frequently, Zappos which I shop at a few times a year, etc.  It was embarrassing!  Imagine being in line at the grocery store, department store etc and the cashier telling you your card was declined.  I have been mortified.  I finally called and complained and said this was unacceptable - their solution was to text me on my phone when they had a suspicious charge that had been attempted.  I agreed that would be an improvement.  Fast forward to today.  I wanted to purchase my husband a $2200 gaming laptop from BestBuy.com - which was being shipped to my home address, in my name - and my card was declined. v First I check to make sure the number and expiration are correct  - then I realize it is probably their crazy fraud protection.  A couple minutes later I get a text that if I had attempted this charge I should reply back "1".  I did that and received a message to try again.  The purchase went through and although I was slightly annoyed at being delayed it was something that wasn't terribly inconvenient or embarrassing as it was online.  Meanwhile, my husband gets home from work early today and calls me at work to let me know Citibank had called and needed me to call regarding potential fraud.  I assured him I did not need to call them as I had already texted them.  I then attempt to make another purchase to order flowers for a funeral - again declined!!  I was speaking with the girl on the phone and told her that the credit card company would be sending me a text and then it would go through...  we wait and nothing.  Embarrassed by Citibank once again.  I call Citibank's customer service line and they cannot help me unless I give them a reference code they left on my answering maching at home.  Uggh!!!  Not only did I have to wait for them to answer my call as I was placed on hold, but then I have to call my husband to get this code all so I can have the pleasure of talking to Citibank about why I cannot purchase these flowers.  Evidentally the text is not enough.  Even though i responded that the attempted charge was not fraudulent they still suspended my account after the charge went through.  This is driving me insane!!!!!  Why do they need to get me to tell them via text and also by calling them that the charge is not fraudulent?  I think their process is nuts.  I love having reward $$ to spend, but I think I will have to start using my amazon or Discover card and getting rewards that way as I cannot deal with this level of inconvenience and frustration.  Please Best Buy try to get a more customer focused Bank to administer your accounts!!!

    Hello User909807,
After having some close calls with fraudulent purchases on my own bank account, I know how scary it can be to know someone else other than you had your personal information, so it was nice to know my issuing bank was helping keep my identity safe. Having said that, it’s completely understandable why it’d be frustrating to discover you were unable to continue making purchases after confirming your identity via text, and I apologize if this caused any unintentional frustration.
While I’ll be sure to document your feedback regarding our partnership with Citibank, N.A., please know that they are the issuer of your My Best Buy credit card account. As such, I will be glad to share your concerns with our Citibank contacts so that they may contact you to discuss your account in further detail. Please know you should receive follow-up contact from them within the next 3-5 business days.
    Respectfully,

  • Best buy rewards card

Ok. I don't know where to start. But I would like to register my complain atleast some one to understand our -customer frustration. We went to best buy in harrisonburg virginia on 8 feb 2014 to buy samsung smart TV. The sales consultant was ok. We were talking abt F 7100 and F8000 and she was telling us there is not much difference except inbuilt camera and upgrading apps. But atlast my husband found one is dual core and other is 8000. Ok actually its not the issue. Bcz we were going to buy F series and we wanted to take advantage of 5% cash back, we want to make sure whats our limit since we hv nt used the card recently. We wanted to use best buy card and sales associate after trying our card said its expired and need to be applied newely. Time was close to 7.45 pm EST. Nikki the consultant did it online and at the end called citi bank and they wanted to talk to my husband after they talkd with him the rep fron citi bnk told Nikki of best buy to congratulate us bcz my husband aprcd to be platinum card holder with 6000 credit limit. We were happy and wanted to go for F 8000 and got 5 year protection plan all together around 3024 $ .Time was closer to 8.45 pm Est. Nikki was already getting restless. I dnt blame her bcz every ones nature will be the same around closing time. But when she tried to bill it .it came as the credit limit is only 750$. She tried two times and said its nt working. As we were concernd abt credit history we asked her to call citi bnk y it is like that. It took almost close to 2 hrs to resolve the issue from bnk side. We really nt happy with custmr service of citi bnk. And atlast their fault desk said SSN is keyed in wrongly from their side. But during that time Nikki was suportive and trying to redolve the issue. Manager josh was ok. Our point is my husband called citi bnk to file a complaint and he was in phone for 1 hr.After an hour they said SSN is keyed wrongly by best buy which I'm not sure. Bcz Nikki asked us to move from one side to another side secondary to key pad nt working. So I dnt know whether it could be BBY mistl. But my question is
1.if BBy did it wrongly when my husband spoke with bnk asdociate she asked for SSN how come their dydtem did not find it.ok
    2. No matter what how the citi bnk approved it first time if SSN wrong
I have a 21 month old baby and he was crying and got fussy after 9pm. We live in staunton and drove 45 min to harrisonburg. When we came out of BBY it was close to 10.30 pm ESt then we drove home with hungry baby. CITI bnk just said to my husband its just a mistake and they can nt help it. And its BBy mistk. My husband spend 1 hr in phone with citi bnk suprvisor after we returned. Bcz we were very frustrated and tired. My husband felt so bad that he made me and my baby to suffer. More over our son was having cold and cough which worsen the situation.citi bank is not ready to answer for our frustration, time and how difficult was it with baby. We want to know wt BBY got to say abt this. My husband went to store again this morning bcz he had some work in there. And he explained abt his call to citibnk. BBY said they really don't hv anything to do with it. Hw come? If its nt for BBY product we would nt have applied for citi bnk card. Is it nt BBY duty to protect their customers? Above all this this morning the deal is changed that is yesterday we got a sound bar which is 349 $ but with F 8000 it is 80$ . But today for F 8000 you get samsung M7 spjr 349. $ completely free which is really disappointing us and me and my husband are really thinking abt returning the product as we have only set later this week for free delivery.
I hope atleast there shd be some one in BBY who understands our feelings, frustration and disappointment. I'm awaiting for a reply and nit just a sorry.
    1. If BBY did it erongly

    Hello Avab,
Thank you for reaching out to us on the forum! This is certainly an odd experience to say the least. I apologize if you feel the associate somehow caused the issues you have experienced with being approved for a Best Buy credit card. It would certainly be surprising to go from believing you were approved for such a high limit, to only being allowed to purchase such a low amount. Unfortunately I do not have access to reviewing your credit card account, as Citibank and Best Buy are separate companies. That being said, we do not have any influence over Citibank’s decisions or policies.
I would be happy to look into this by reaching out to Citibank, however, your husband would have to reach out to me directly with his name, phone number, and email address as it seems the card was opened under his name. Your husband may reach out to me by signing up on the forum and sending me a private message by clicking the link below in my signature, or by emailing [email protected] with “Attn: Tasha” in the subject line.
If you have any questions or concerns, please let me know.

  • My best buy reward certificate not working on preorder?

This topic has been moved to our My Best Buy board under My Best Buy Gamer's Club for further moderation.

blue screen of death can be cause by several things:
hard drive failure, memory failure, virus in operating system files, and more
when you got a blue screen of death, next time that shows up, there's sometimes say "technical information" and blah blah blah blah. google that information up. sometimes they can tell you what exactly is wrong with it.
if you have restored your operating system several times already, and still getting "virus" that's causing blue screen of death, could be your RESTORE CD is F**K up.
ok that's one option, another one is:
    1) reformat it AGAIN.
    2) don't download anything, don't use bit torrent, dc-2
if u still get bsod and then do this:
    buy this:
Model: WD2500BEVSRTL1 | SKU: 9024147it's an internal hard drive for xps laptop (sata)
swipe it out, install ur restore cd of operation on it
if u don't get bsod anymore, that means u're previous hard drive is a bad hard drive.
or just send ur laptop straight to manufacture, don't go through geek squad. lets  see what dell says about it.

  • Best Buy Promised to Hook Up My TV And Haul Away The Old TV. It Then Refused to Do Any of That.

    I bought a Samsung 51" Plasma
    PN51F5300AFXZA
Here's the Best Buy.com page for it: http://www.bestbuy.com/site/samsung-51-class-50-3-4-diag--plasma-1080p-hdtv-black/8239047.p?id=12188...
Scroll down to "See (4) Special Offers" and then click "Free Delivery, Haul Away & Recycling"
Here's what it reads, of which I got none:
Free Delivery on TV Purchases 51" or Larger
Best Buy will provide Standard Local Delivery of your TV. Charges apply for delivery outside local delivery area. TV will be delivered into the room of your choice and unpacked. Best Buy will assemble your TV, place it on an existing TV stand, and connect your TV to a single, existing source (satellite box, cable box or antenna) within the room. Delivery and installation may require two appointments.
Excludes prior purchases and Best Buy Marketplace items. Not valid with other offers. Subject to availability of products and delivery capacity.
    Television Haul Away and Recycling
We will haul away a television from your home for free when a qualifying replacement product is delivered by Geek Squad® or Best Buy Home Delivery. Then we will make sure it is properly and safely recycled. Additional TVs can be removed and recycled at a cost of $20 per unit.
The units are responsibly recycled by our licensed, third-party recycling partners. The recyclers ensure that the various commodities are sent to end markets to be recycled and repurposed into new products. For more information, see BestBuy.com/recycling.
    >> To once again reiterate, they did not unbox my TV. They did assemble my TV. They did not hook it up.
And they did not haul away the old TV.
And now I can't find anyone at the Best Buy hotline to even understand what I'm trying to say.
    HELP!

    Good afternoon FranklinAvenue,
After receiving your TV, I'm sure you were disappointed to find services normally included were not completed. I imagine this certainly lowered your satisfaction with your TV ordering and delivery experience.
With most deliveries, you are correct that basic setup and haul away of the old unit are typically included. With the information you registered with the forum, I was able to locate your order and review your services. Unfortunately, it seems that haul away was not included on the service order. This may have been due to it not being selected when placing the order, or a system error. However, the basic setup should have been completed. I apologize for any inconvenience this may have caused you.
I also see that you were able to have setup and haul away completed on 1/5/15. I'm glad to see that we were able to return to complete these desired services. I hope that this experience has not negatively influenced your future shopping destination.
    Sincerely,

  • Best Buy exchange with rewards certificate issue

    Hi,
I have been a loyal customer of Best Buy over the years and go out of my way to shop there for my electronics. I hope someone can assist me with my problem. Below I have given a brief synopsis of what is going on. Thank you for your time.
On 01/10/15 I purchased a Bose headset using some of my best buy rewards certificates and the rest of the balances on my credit card. I forgot to use a $50.00 gift card that I had received, towards the purchase that day. On 01/13/15 I returned to the same store to ask that the receipt be credited and re rung so I could apply my $50.00 gift card. The customer representative advised that since I used best buy rewards certificates I would not be able to do the exchange since the rewards take 8 days to return to my account. I asked if the rewards could just go onto a best buy gift card and he stated they were not able to. I had no intention of returning my item; all I wanted was to get the $50.00 gift card applied to my receipt. Instead I was forced to return my headset and now wait 8 days to then repurchase the same headset in order to be able to use my best buy rewards certificates plus my $50.00 gift card. I find it ironic that best buy is willing to take in a returned item (never intended for return), make customers wait 8 days, and then have the customers travel back to the store to buy the same item over again just to be able to use their rewards certificates that were returned.
I did advise the customer service representative of how absurd the process is and he stated “I know I’ve been dealing with it for the entire holiday season but this is the only way it can be done.”   Best Buy should really take a step back and look at this process since they are incurring a loss on the returned product and the overall poor customer experience.
    Thank You

    Hi jonchiarito,
Thank you for signing up for the forum and connecting with us.
I can imagine feeling frustrated after hearing that your certificates would be returned to your My Best Buy™ account, which may cause you to have to make another trip to the store to redeem them.  The only way we could have applied the $50 gift card to your existing purchase is to process a return and repurchase, which would cause the certificates point value to repost to your account.  Since certificates have no actual monetary value, they cannot be put onto a gift card.
It can usually take between 3 - 6 business days for a certificates point value to repost to a member's account following a return, and it pretty common for the point value to repost the same day that a return is processed.  I looked over your My Best Buy™ account using the email address you registered with the forum, and from what I can see, the point value for the certificates you redeemed reposted to your account yesterday following the return.  It may take 24 hours for your account to update though.
If after 24 hours you for some reason are unable to access those points or if you have any other program related questions, then do not hesitate to send me a private message and I will see what I can do to further assist.  You can send a private message by clicking on the blue button in my signature labeled "Private Message."  Also, please feel free to post any ideas or suggestions you have to the IdeaX section of the forum.
Returns When a My Best Buy™ Certificate was Used
I hope you enjoy the rest of your day.

  • Best Buy Associates lied about protection plan through Geek Squad

I finally have the time and energy to re-address the ongoing issue that I am having with Best Buy and their geek squad. Before the Thanksgiving holiday of 2013, my sister came to visit me from Virginia. She is currently in the military and came home for a final visit before a 9 month deployment. She was in a need of a new phone, so being the loyal Best Buy customer that I am, I took her to Best Buy and signed up for a new 2-year agreement so that she could update her phone. The rep was nice enough to explain that there was a Geek Squad protection plan that I could purchase through Best Buy that would cover the phone if ANYTHING were to happen to the phone. I was told that I could just bring the phone in and they would either fix it or replace it. Previously I would always get my insurance from my cellular service provider, but this Geek Squad protection seemed like a great deal. I was satisfied with my purchase and the Geek Squad protection, and returned later on in the week to purchase a new phone for my Mother as an early Christmas gift, and I was sold the EXACT same Geek Squad protection.
Every month over the next several months, there was $20 dollars deducted from my account, $10 for my sister’s phone and $10 for my mother’s phone. My sister had since been deployed overseas and had an accident with her phone where it is completely un-responsive. Feeling fully confident that we had insured the purchase and that Best Buy would uphold their end of the bargain, I had her mail her phone back to the United States.
I took the phone to Best Buy and explained that the phone is not powering on and that I was covered under the Geek Squad warranty. To my complete surprise, I was informed that I was misinformed. The Geek Squad agent told me that the Cell phone group was misinforming customers and that in fact the protection information that was relayed to me, not once, but twice was the incorrect information. This is a big issue because I was given this false information twice and I have been clearly misled.
I was given a number to the Geek Squad line. I called and explained the situation and the woman basically said that there is nothing that she can do, so I inquired about a refund of the money that I paid for the protection plans. The rep stated that she would put a case in. When the case was settled, I received $20 dollars for the current month. I paid for the insurance for more than one month, I paid for 5 months. After the $20 dollar refund, I decided that instead of continuing on with the back and forth, I would just keep the insurance that I had been misled about. So I called back. Low and behold, just a few days after the initial call, I was informed that they could no longer assist me because I had dropped the insurance. I was given a corporate number who told me they couldn’t assist me and that they didn’t know why I was given their number. I went around the entire loop again and was referred to the store manager, who left a VM that I would need to contact the geek squad 1-800 number.
Just as this is a long letter, imagine the time and energy it took to go through this entire process. Lying and misleading loyal and faithful customers is bad enough, but to know that when my sister who is serving our country overseas, and who has been doing so for the past 7 months will come home to a phone that doesn’t work is very upsetting. I was tempted to let this situation go but being a loyal customer to Best Buy should mean something to the store and to the management. If I am a future best buy customer will be dependent on how Best Buy handles this situation. Customers shouldn’t be lied to and mislead.

    Hello CM2014,
Staying in touch with family members is difficult without a phone, even more so when a loved one is overseas. It was very nice of you to make sure your sister had one while on deployment, so I can imagine your frustration if we denied her request for service when you brought in her mailed phone for repair. I’m not sure of the exact reason as to why this might’ve happened; however, there are a few reasons why a Rapid Exchange repair underneath her Geek Squad Protection (GSP) plan wasn’t an option.
With Rapid Exchange, a damaged or non-working phone should be sent out for service. To save our customers valuable time, a service order is simultaneously created from our service provider to ship out an already repaired phone. These phones go through a rigorous refurbishment process to make sure that a customer receives a phone meeting its manufacturer’s standards.  If a smartphone is damaged though, we do request that a $149.99 deductible be paid to receive a repaired phone. This fee will also be applied should service be needed after the manufacturer’s warranty has expired. You are limited to three claim submissions after which the plan would be considered fulfilled.
Our GSP plan should cover any hardware issues with the phone along with liquid spills or damage such as a cracked screen. Please know that it wouldn’t cover products that have been submerged, dropped from extreme heights, or have been run over by or fallen from moving vehicles.  Having said this, our associates should be fully explaining why a phone was rejected for service, and I’m sorry if this wasn’t the case. If you don’t me asking, what was wrong with your sister’s phone?

  • Can I use two rewards certificates in one transaction at a Best Buy store?

Since you have to spend at least the value of the My Best Buy reward certificates before tax and shipping, I thought it would be best to issue the certificates in smaller amounts (maybe $5 instead of $15).  If I do that, and I have multiple certificates of $5, can I redeem them all toward a single purchase?  For example, if I want to buy a video game, can I apply multiple $5 reward certificates toward that purchase?
Also, can My Best Buy reward certificates be used toward a pre-order of a game?
Are there any restrictions on what they can be used for, other than not being able to be used for Best Buy gift cards or e-gift cards?
Thanks for answering my three questions about My Best Buy Rewards

    Hello kre1997,
Those are three great questions!  Let me see if I can help provide answers.
As long as the certificates are valid, you can apply two to a single purchase.
A certificate can be applied to a pre-order, but only on BestBuy.com.
The main exclusion is the purchase of gift card, but there are a couple others and you can those here.
Thank you for posting to the forum, and please let me know if you have any other questions.

  • Best Buy hijacked my bank account and disposed my Best Buy points

I placed an online order on 09/05/2014 (Order number: (removed per forum guidelines) around 4pm eastern, and about 3 hours later, I got another email stating "YOUR ITEM HAS BEEN CANCELED". It was for an in-store open box item, which I was able to pay for online and pick-up at the store, or so I thought. I used two $5.00 reward certificates, a gift card, and my credit card to finalize the transaction. The email titled, "YOUR ITEM HAS BEEN CANCELED" contained this information:
Be assured that if you paid by credit card, it has not been charged, and any other method of payment has been credited. If you used a Gift Card for this order and no longer have it, please call the number below and we'll send you a replacement.
If you have any questions about your order or need further assistance — or if you'd like help finding a similar item — please contact us at
    1-888-BEST BUY (1-888-237-8289).
Once again, we're sorry for this inconvenience, and are working hard to serve you better in the future.
    Sincerely,
    Karalyn Sartor
    Vice President Customer Care
Well, lets just start wih Karalyn did not answer my call or attempted to help.
My gift card was immeditely re-credited, however it has been a different story for the other method of payment. My certificates which were accumulated through purchases totaling over $500 dollars, never regenerated (i've called 3 separate times about when are they going back to my points bank and responses range from 24hr to 45days) it's now Wednesday this happen last Friday. The cancelation email stated my credit card would not be charged, but Best Buy did something worse they placed a hold on my card for this order that wasn't fulfilled and actually canceled by Best Buy employees at the store(553) due to not in stock (as stated in cancelation email).
The transaction was completed online because it indicated stock was available and the, "Thank you for your order" email implied that ownership was mine. I don't understand why Best Buy placed a hold on my card, if the transaction was manually checked and canceled? What makes it worse there was no attempt to contact me to substitute canceled order or give me a definitive reason why it was canceled. In fact, my reward certificates that I accumulated over some time were gone due to this cancelled order and no definitive answer has been given to when they will show back on my account. I was told Friday the hold would release in 3-5 days and it "should" drop, but it now Wednesday. I would understand if this was a return transaction and I have to wait for my funds to be available again, but I had no possession of item and it the transaction didn't go through why is Best BUy holding my money hostage? I'm not in the business of lending out money, and I needed those funds to actually acquire what I attempted to in my order. I shouldn't have to wait on my money, I feel like I'm being bullied and down right punished.
So, now it gets worse for me because. I called I-800 for Elite Plus reward members ( been a member since it was Premier Silver) to make sure stock was available on a similar item (at full price), and asked about the points, I lost and how I would be able to apply them to my purchase. The rep adjusted the price to accommodate my transaction and said that the points would be still go back on my account in 24 hrs. This new order was finalized on the same day as original order Friday 09/05/2014.
Well, I checked my bank account Monday , and was surprised to see the original cancelled order was still there, as well as two identical transaction that I'm assuming represented my new order. I was patient and waited till Tuesday to check again, and hoped that all mistaken holds would drop, but I was wrong. Instead, now a hold actually posted as a completely different amount (lower) with the new order number associated to it, and the other amount(what I expected) is also there plus the original transaction amount. Who gave Best By create a third order without my consent? Why did Best Buy assume I had money to lend their cooperation? Why did Best Buy assume that my funds were at their disposal and authorized their own transaction? How dos Best Buy not consider unapproved transactions could overdraft my account? I called and asked, but no answer could be given to why that happen except that the rep charged me twice, and thats why theres two holds, but then that doesn't explain why one of those holds post at a cheaper price with my new order number on it. This is crazy, there is no reason why a third order should have been created because I didn't approve it. This has been too many days without my money, and these holds total a little pass $300.00 dollars (not chump change).
Yesterday (09/09/14) I contacted my bank to find a solution to these unwarranted charges, and the only way to expedite and release my funds would be in a from of a letter from best buy on their letter head to be faxed to 18663097443 with the transaction amounts, card number, my name, date of transaction, signed by a manager, and a statement informing the bank that Best Buy would not collect on those charges. The other solution was to dispute the charge that posted because that amount was not contracted to be fulfilled under the agreement of the order form.
So, I called Best Buy again. Well, after over an hour on the phone and the rep spoke to her superiors which declined the request, so I asked for the case number, but the rep told me that after during the conversation her computer crashed and no number could be given. So, I asked for some type of compensation for this crazy ordeal and for the financial position it put me in by creating a new order and holding funds from a canceled order. Well, she said my situation didn't correspond to reasons that warranted compensation, not even a coupon. I thought what happen to customer service as being a reason? The Best Buy rep did seem to empathize with my situation, and asked again for that authorization letter, and she said she got it approved; this was around 5pm yesterday. She then even said she was able to generate a case number with this approval (case number 144087240).
Guess what Best Buy community its now Wednesday, and the holds are all there no communication was sent to the resolution department on the behalf of Best buy and I'm still out $300. plus dollars since Friday. Normally banks charge interest on loans, what will Best Buy do for me now that I have stolen my money? I never gave consent to create a third order, which now I will have to dispute and report to the Better Business Bureau. The most unbelieveble part of this mess is that the item in my original order that satrted all this is still up on the Best Buy page. An employee supoosley checked and made the determination that the item is out of stock, but its still on the webpage to trap another customer in lending Best Buy capital to fund their organization. I would clike to challenage any employee to attempt to but this item and see what happens to their funds. I mean, come on Best Buy if you don't pay the employee to trap people, then have them remove the item off the website where people are becoming victims to this money pit. Here is the link go for it and see what happens to you Karalyn Sartor, Vice President Customer Care.

I shop at Best Buy so much I held the silver Premier status since it was introduced, and every year the amount of how much you spend gets raised as benefits get removed, I've been able to surpass that threshold to maintain Elite Plus status since it too has been created topping almost $5000.00 this year alone, and we haven't hit Christmas yet. This experience is something to consider next time I think about going to Best Buy.

    Good afternoon robertocar78,
After reading through your detailed post, I can fully understand why you would be frustrated with this experience. First off, stores should ensure that their clearance and open-box items listed on BestBuy.com are up-to-date to prevent such experiences as yours. Secondly, to have such an amount of funds unavailable would be quite worrisome, and I hope that I can bring some light to your particular situation.
Using the email address you registered with the forum, I was able to locate your cancelled order as well as the replaced order. Typically when an order is placed, the funds are immediately authorized to ensure the funds are available. While this authorization may make the funds unavailable, the funds have not actually been collected.
Once an order ships, the funds will be collected at that time. Should there be more than one item on an order, if the items ship separately or at different times, you may be charged for the individual items. That being said, you could see multiple smaller charges for one order that together make up the order total. If an order is cancelled, the authorization should be dropped on our end. However, this may take 3-5 business days to reflect on your end, depending on your financial institution’s processing times.
I was able to see that you have been working extensively with Todd on our Consumer Relations team in regards to your situation. I spoke with him personally about your particular situation and let him know that you have also posted here in regards to your concerns. I’m happy to hear that he has been able to assist you in resolving most of your issues thus far.
Also, please know that I am reaching out to the Tropicaire store in Miami, FL store in regards to this iPad listing to ensure they have a chance to correct any inventory or listing issues they may have. I am truly sorry for any inconvenience this experience may have caused you. I hope that this experience has not influenced your future shopping destinations.
If you should have any further concerns or questions, please feel welcome to reach out to me here on the thread or by sending me a private message via the link in my signature below.
    Cheers!

  • Best Buy is my Nightmare

I am going to preface this post by stating that I am an elite plus member. If I could take everything I ever purchased at best buy and trade it for a bucket of peanuts, I would. If that meant they would not get any of my money.
A month ago, I purchased a Samsung Steam Washer and Dryer. We had it scheduled to be installed and delivered on me and my girlfriend's off day. Awesome!!! We actually even moved in our move in date up, so we could have the washer and dryer delivered and installed. Yay!
Oh no, wait....some dumb best buy employee decided to cancel the order, and nobody ever even called us. There we are twiddling our thumbs waiting for a call to tell us that they are delivering our W&D I paid almost $1000 for! Nothing, crickets, silence. We called your wonderful customer service team in India to find out that, as I stated previously, our order was cancelled for no reason and we would have to take time off of work in order to be there for the rescheduled delivery on Friday. You put a bandaid on our severed limb by giving us a gift card. Awesome, no seriously, awesome, who would ever think, a gift card that is supposed to make something right would lead to more headache and turmoil.
Took said giftcard to best buy to buy my girlfriend a phone case, and myself one too! However the selection was so limited, I decided to not get one of the beautiful pink cases you offered. Girlfriend happy though, minor victory.
A few days later I discovered that roku now carried showtime. Hooray I thought, I can now use the remainder of my gift card and the paypal balance that has been sitting there for a while to get this majestic streaming device. In stock at my local store? Say no more, I was on my way. I get to the store, ask the nice security camera man standing at the frony where the roku players are. He kindly replies "in the back". After a brief hunt through the back of the store I finally find it. Go to one of your local terminals, add to my cart for store pickup, enter gift card number and code....click on checkout with paypal, and voila! ERROR ERROR ERROR!! Uable to go to the paypal page.
This has to be some mistake. I go to the front to speak with a manager to see if there is something he can do. I explain the situation and he tells me. "yeah lots of retailers use paypal now" Well no shat sherlock, I try to explain again and he just tells me to try a different computer.
A bit dramatic of a post, absolutely, I am just so livid and fed up with your company that I just refuse to do business there anymore. I cannot wait for the day that all shopping is done online so amazon can finally put your butt out of business.

    Dear rmpagejr3,
Thank you so much for being an Elite Plus member and I’m sorry the poor experiences you have had recently have left you questioning your future business with us! I can understand why you would be upset after having an ideal situation for the initial delivery of your new Samsung washer/dryer set.
I am glad to hear that you were given a gift card for the confusion with your order cancellation. We try to offer as many choices for customers as possible, between our store and online assortment through BestBuy.com. We even carry stuff on BestBuy.com that is provided by our Marketplace vendors to expand your options when shopping on our site. It is definitely true, however, that there are many more cases for some phones than others.
I apologize that you weren’t offered further assistance when you were trying to order your Roku in store. Did you ever end up successfully placing an order for it? If not, I would be more than happy to help you get that so you can enjoy your Showtime shows! Also, I’ve never tried using PayPal in our stores, but I will inquire on whether or not this was an isolated issue for you.
I’m currently looking into why your order was cancelled and I will be following up with the store to ensure that we are properly communicating any changes being made in these situations! Were you able to get the order rescheduled and delivered without any further issues? Please let me know if anything is still unresolved as I am here to help!
    Warmly,

  • Best buy price match nightmare

I placed an order online for in store pick up. A few days later the item went on sale on best buy.com. I am still within the return policy/ price adjustment time frame. The item was for the special edition ps4 white "bundle". It is the special edition that Sony released and was available at all retailers. It called and asked for a price adjustment since it was exactly the same item that I placed. Same SKU and not one of those longer SKU that best buy has for their bundles(ex. When you buy a camera with an additional lenses it has a super long SKU number). I called best buy for the price adjustment and the customer service rep checked it on the best buy website and found the sale price of 349.99. She said it would take 24 hours to process. I waited a week and saw no credit back to my best buy card. Today I decided to call and a supervisor told me it was rejected because it was a bundle. She states that the price guarantee prohibits the adjustment of bundles. I tried to explain that this item isn't necessary a bundle as it already comes with the game inside the system. These are how all game systems are lately. Wii u comes with Mario world and Nintendo land together, Xbox one has assassin creed and ps4 had the destiny. I have a case number which I can give if it helps but I would like someone to look into this issue please. I have a best buy card, elite plus status but after this I may be considering taking my business elsewhere.

    Hello angryconsumer17,
Welcome to the forum, and thank you for being a loyal Best Buy Elite Plus member. Our Price Match Guarantee is a great way to ensure you'll always be protected in case the price of your product goes down a few days later. I'm very sorry if you were first told that your PS4 White bundle would qualify for the price match, and had to call to inquire the status only to find out it was denied. I can understand that would be upsetting, and I would be happy to look into this.
Using the e-mail you registered on the forum, I was unable to locate your information or the order. I would appreciate it very much if you could send me a private message with your name, phone number we have on file for you, the case number you were given, order number, and e-mail address. To send me a private message simply click to the right of my signature below. I also assure you I will be documenting your experience for internal review. As you were informed, per the terms and conditions of our Price Match Guarantee, there are some conditions that must be met in order to qualify, but this should have been communicated to you from the first time you called to request the price match.
Again, I truly apologize for any poor service you have received, and I look forward to hearing from you.
    Sincerely,

  • Does best buy care about their promises made on delivery date?

i've placed an order LAST thursday, and as an elite plus member i get expedite shipping automatically (accroading to bestbuy definitaion, it's a two day delivery). plus, on the confirmation emial, it says 'get it by: tuesday, jan 13th.
and only until noon today (monday), i received an email containing an tracking number from bestbuy. since best buy shipped my item out one day late, i was expecting a overnight shipping so that they can delivery my item ontime, like all other online retialers would do. but it is not. it is only ups ground, by which i will be lucky to get it in another two days.
what is worse is, until 10:00pm, ups doesnt seem to have received the package yet.
so best buy, why dont you use overnight to cover your mistake, instead, you are asking me to pay for your delay? i've been a long time constomer for both amazon and bestbuy. and amazon sometime do ship out items late, and honestly it happened a lot. but whenever they are behind the schedule, they use the fastest shipping to try to catch up the time.
best buy, you knew it was behind the schedule already when you ship it out today, why dont you use overnight shipping? were you just hoping that i wont notice? or you think it doesnt matter, your promise to your customers doesnt metter? if you dont even have the attempt to try to catch up the schedule and fullfill your promise to your clients, i can only imagine people shop less than less on bestbuy.com, and instead, go to amazon.com
hey guys, really, if you can find something on both bestbuy and amazon, go to amazon. they dont ask you to spend thousnads of dollars before give you free two days shipping, and when they are behind the schedule, they will at least try to fulfill their promises, rather than ignoring the promise.

    Hello garyleecn,
Welcome to the forum, and thank you for being a My Best Buy Elite Plus member. One benefit from being such a member is receiving free expedited shipping on most items from BestBuy.com, so I’m sorry to hear your online order isn’t arriving as quickly as you hoped. I’m sure you’re anxious to get your hands on your purchase, so I can understand why it’d be frustrating to encounter such a shipping delay.
According to our Shipping Costs & Timing policy, any expedited shipping order may take up to two business days to ship to your home. Unfortunately, there are circumstances outside of our control that can cause unexpected delays. However, you mentioned your order was mailed via UPS Ground. Please know that expedited shipping simply outlines the timeframe that the order should arrive, not necessarily the carrier’s method of shipment. This means that if you live close enough to a UPS shipping hub, UPS could deem it was unnecessary to expedite your order, as ground shipping would have gotten it there just as fast.
Having said this, I realize this situation is far from ideal, and I’d appreciate the opportunity to look into your order to see what exactly happened. In order to do this, please send me a private message with as much of the following information as possible.
    ·         Full name:
    ·         Phone number:
    ·         Order number:
You may send me a private message by logging into the forum and clicking on the button included in my signature below.

  • Gamers club unlocked and best buy account problems

I purchased gamer's club unlocked on 12/22/14 online and went and had it activated in-store on 12/30/14, i did not receive any indication through email or on my account page that gamer's club unlocked was tied to my account, no expiration date showing i am a member no anything to indicate that it actually was activated and tied to my account. Also i did not receive the welcome coupons that were supposed to be given out. If you can provide me with any information to validate that i received what i paid for that would be most appreciated and let me know where my coupons are that would be great. Additionally when i call to find out about the best buy rewards on my account the automated system has 883 points listed for my account hte website says 117 so whats going on here so far i havent been happy with the system and service in place for these programs.

    Hello kbirth,
I'd like to start by thanking you for joining the Gamers Club Unlocked program!

  • Misleading ADH Information Provided By Best Buy Associates

Let me start by saying that Best Buy WAS my most FAVORITE store UNTIL walking into store on 03/08/14 in Alabama. I am a 31 yr old customer that has been purchasing electronics from Best Buy since 2003. The management and sales associates in the store I normally go to is AWESOME! Now I would be one of the first to say that "Yes, it seems that Best Buy's T&Cs on GSBT/GSRP/ADH Plans change often." Whenever I go into any Best Buy, I look at the little pamphlets that was given out when you purchased any GS protection plan. I notice they looked different from time to time. Maybe a different color or size. I mean, go to <http://www.geeksquad.com/protection-plans/terms-and-conditions.aspx> and look. It goes back to July 2007. Has it always been available online? Nope. The first extended warranty/protection Plan I purchased was on a laptop purchased in 2003 when I left for college. I don't see it on there. So it's very safe to assume they haven't always been readily available and from looking at previous comments and posts after googling "Best Buy ADH 2012," I see I'm NOT the only customer that has been mislead by the sales associates on ADH. Why not trust that the employees are explaining important details? I mean SOMETIMES you're handing me a pamphlet with the T&Cs and giving me misleading info that you claim is in there. But at the time I had every reason to trust and believe the associates are providing me with important details and accurate info that is found in what you're placing in my hand (I've been to MANY Best Buy's and purchased MANY things from each Best Buy depending on where I'm at at that time).
In 2012 I bought two iPads (3rd generation). I bought one 16gb and a 32gb along with ADH for each one (one for my parents and one for myself). And like any electronic device I buy from Best Buy, I was ALWAYS told, "Don't forget to purchase the protection plan!" Well, if you look at my history, I ALWAYS purchased the "extended warranty" or "protection plan." Like I said, when I moved away for college in 2003, I purchased a brand new laptop, had GS to hook it up and also paid for the "extended warranty" as it was called at the time. I never had to use any warranties or protection plans I purchased. I purchased protection plans on the 2 laptops I bought, a washer and dryer I bought (that was stolen when I went on vacation) and also the new ones I purchased to replace the stolen set, a washer I bought AFTER I moved (because mine was in storage and I damaged my parents older washer by overloading it with a comforter) and even on cellphones I've had in the past. Basically, if Best Buy offered it on a device, I purchased it because I felt confident that if ANYTHING went wrong, Best Buy would take care of it. Why?? Because that's what I was told when I purchased it. Now, that being said, my parents are 66 and 70 and not in the best of health. Last year, my mom dropped the iPad and broke the screen. I was confident that Best Buy would replace it with a new device like I was told. I get to the closest Best Buy to me (which is an hour and fifteen away from home; the original store where I purchased them is two and a half hours away). The iPad still powered on but of course the glass screen was shattered. Who wants to use an iPad with cracked glass and risk cutting a finger? Well, low and behold, that store reprinted the receipt and replaced the iPad 3rd gen with a NEW iPad 4th gen (there were no more iPad 3rd gen at the store) just like the sales associates said. No questions asked. No hassle. No problem. I don't even work for Best Buy but yet ANYBODY I talked to (friend, family, stranger in the store), I would push "protection plan...get it!...it's worth it!"
March 7th, 2014, while working, I accidentally dropped my 32gb iPad and cracked my screen. I had already made plans to go out of town on March 8th so I did my research and saw there's a Best Buy an hour away. I was confident that Best Buy would replace my device in store so that Monday, March 10th I would be able to go back to work and have a working iPad that's not going to slice and dice my fingers up. I get to the GS desk and I gave the GS agent my phone number to reprint my receipt so he could go ahead and replace my iPad. (Why was I so confident? My parents iPad was replaced with no issues). Well the GS agent proceeds to tell me that "Your iPad qualifies to be replaced with a refurbished iPad. Would you like to pick it up in store or have it shipped to your home?" Excuse me? Refurbished? Picked up or sent to my home? No no no. Now, I told him, "When I purchased the iPad (that I paid $599 for BRAND NEW) and the 2 yr ADH, I was told by the sales associate if anything happened to it, any Best Buy would swap it out in store with a new device that way I wouldn't have to go without." He proceeds to tell me, "The plans have changed. It might have been that way when you purchased it but the plans have changed since 2012." (Thank goodness I didn't go in the store by myself. I had two friends with me that heard all of this non-sense). Now it's always that if the T&Cs change after you purchased yours, they have to honor the T&Cs that you had from the beginning. That's like a cellphone company telling me "You cannot keep your unlimited plan because we don't offer it anymore." You can't do that. So because the company changed the T&Cs AFTER I purchased it, you're not going honor what that??? So I asked for a manager. The GM of the store comes. The same thing I explained to the GS agent, I repeated once again to the GM. He says the same thing the GS agent said. By then, I'm in shock and not only is my blood pressure going up, I'm getting more and more upset thinking about each and every ADH/GSBT/GSRP I purchased (and didn't use EXCEPT for one). Then my mind went to everybody that bought an ADH and was mislead with the same T&Cs shared by the sales associates. The GM then goes on to tell me, "Your iPad is still functional. You can keep it until your refurbished iPad comes in." I'm looking at my iPad and I run my finger across it and I feel sharp pieces of glass. I asked him "What if I cut my finger?" He then opened his mouth and let the CRAZIEST thing come out. He said, "I can discount a Zagg Invisible Shield for you if you would like." I'm thinking "what kind of FOOL does he take me for????" Seriously???? (1) You COULD replace it but you won't (which he stated it's at HIS sole discretion if he wanted to replace it or not but because the computer said send a refurbished one, he doesn't want to go against that) and (2) You want me to BUY a invisible shield that you're going to discount??? That's WHY I purchased the ADH (so I wouldn't have to spend any money later on if something happens to it). So I told him to go ahead and send it but I'm not happy about and I would call and complain about it. I now have to go to work Monday and Tuesday without the iPad I DEPEND on to do my job. I refuse to pay for a screen protector when I know the iPad could be exchanged there in the store.
I NEVER thought I would live to say "I will NEVER EVER spend another dime in Best Buy or any affiliates they may have from today going forward unless the problem is resolved." I JUST spent over $1400 in Best Buy a couple of weeks ago on a PS4 (ADH as well), 3 PS4 games, an iPod Touch 32gb, a griffin case and a set of headphones. I will be canceling that ADH on the PS4 ASAP. It's not worth it. It's not worth the hassle. My friends that witnessed all of this have now been turned away from a business that I once loved. Is it because I told them to turn away? No. It's because they know that that is poor customer service and misleading info that was provided. They've even purchased ADH on devices they've purchased and was provided the SAME misleading information that I was provided (and I'm talking about three different stores providing each of us with the same exact information). I know that myself and the two other people that were with me today will not hurt Best Buy's business by not returning and buying electronics from there. But everyone knows that one unhappy customer will go back and tell a family member or friend what happened. And that family member or friend will go and tell another family member or friend that will tell another........it then turns into a chain reaction. Do I wish anything bad on Best Buy? Nope. What I do wish is that (1) my iPad is replaced with a NEW iPad 3rd gen or better (ain't no going back to a 2nd generation) and (2) Best Buy needs to retrain EVERY employee (manager, supervisor and regular associate) to make sure instead of saying "With ADH, if anything happens to it, bring it back to any Best Buy and we'll replace it in store!" the associates need to be truthful and say "With ADH, it is at our sole discretion to replace the device in store OR have a refurbished device sent to the store where you can pick it up when it comes in or either we can have it sent to your home!" But that's too much like being right. I now see it's all about getting a sale and getting numbers up. It's not about providing excellent customer service cause if it was, I would've walked out of that store with a new iPad. I am literally SICK just thinking of the thousands of dollars I've spent in Best Buy. Lesson learned though.

    Hello,
There is very little more frustrating than having a device that you use every day develop a need for service, whether through defect or damage. I've had similar situations arise myself and been aggravated too. It's also important to live up to the terms of our agreements with you and our other customers -- in this case the written Terms & Conditions of the Geek Squad Protection plan you purchased. Further, it is imperative that we communicate how the coverage works accurately. I regret any miscommunication that there may have been about how the terms of your plan would be fulfilled.
The Geek Squad Agent's choice of language was unfortunate. You're quite correct in that the terms of the plan do not change once it's been purchased. However, the process by which we fill those terms can be subject to change. We reserve the right -- as stated in the Terms -- to provide a refurbished unit to fulfill our obligation under the plan.
We cannot provide the refurbished unit to you without taking possession of the damaged unit. The Agent at the store should have been specific that if you kept the damaged iPad to use in the interim, the replacement could not be shipped to you, but rather to the store for this reason. Please know that I apologize for any inconvenience to you.
Finally, I'm wholly disheartened to read that this experience may prompt you to change your future shopping destination. It is my hope that you will give Best Buy another chance to win you over one day soon. Thank you for taking the time to share your experience with us.
    Sincerely,
    John|Social Media Specialist | Best Buy® Corporate
