Best calibrator for Apple Cinema LCD?

At the suggestions of contributors to this forum, I bought and now am more than half way through Fraser's Real World Color Management. I have found it relatively easy for a novice to understand and am grateful for the guidance to get it. Now, however, I must act on some of the info in the book. A first step is to buy a calibrator.
Does anyone have experience with a particularly good one? (I have a 23 in Apple Cinema LCD.) I went to the Apple store and the only one they carry gets rather negative reviews. I am willing to pay for whatever is necessary to get something that works superbly.

The Online Apple Store and the Apple dealers here in Germany either don't seem to be aware of the new specs or they have a lot of the "older" displays (Brightnes: 270 cd/m2 Contrast: 400:1) left in stock which they want or need "to get rid of".
I'm thinking of ordering either a 23" or a 30" for my MacPro, but the new spec cinema displays are not yet available here.

Who makes LCDs for Apple Cinema HD displays?

Who makes LCD's for Apple 23-inch Cinema HD displays? I do not think that Apple has its own factory to produce LCD's. I think that Apple buys LCD's from other companies and puts them into Apple Cinema HD displays.
I wonder if either Sharp or NEC makes LCD's for Apple. Does anyone know who makes LCD's for Apple 23-inch Cinema HD displays?

Im using a G5 Duel 2.5. I have been trying to use a 42" LCD that supports 1388x768 resolution. My problem is that resolution is much to small for may audio application. Do you know of any work arounds to force an increase in resolution on the LCD side? Possibly a direct box or software that will shrink the windows and allow more information on the screen..[email protected]

Do Window Vista Dirvers exist for Apple Cinema Displays ?

I am using a 23 inch Apple Cinema Display with a windows Vista box and noticed it is using a generic HD driver. Should I have a diver specific to the ACD? Do any exist?

I have one more idea that might help people. This is a theory on my part, so bear with me.
You can extract all of the files from WinACD and use just the INF files get your monitor to display at the proper resolutions. To do so, do an Administrative Install using the following command:
msiexec /a <path to msi file>WinACD-0.4.6.msi
This will extract the files to C:\Program Files\WinACD, but not install the application onto the system. You can then go to:
Settings - Control Panel - Display
Click on Settings and then Advanced
Click on Monitor and then Properties
Click on Update Driver... and find the acdmonitor.inf file in C:\Program Files\WinACD\noarch.
Theoretically that should work. I cannot test the very last step for I have it working correctly already.
I will tinker with this on Vista 64 this weekend and see how to make it work. You should not have to do this with Vista 32. I had to turn of the User Account Control in order to be able to install it. With it on, WinACD says that it could not install because it was interrupted.

Vista 64 bit Driver for Apple Cinema Display

I am trying to use a refurbished Apple HD Cinema Display to connect to both my PC and new Mac... it is integral that I can use it with both.
Any help finding a driver that would work with my Windows Vista 64 bit OS would be much much appreciated... I hate it but I have to work with what I've got!

Best settings for Apple TV?

Compressor has a built in preset for Apple TV that produces 1280 x 720 video. This was fine for HDV material, but recently I started to shoot at 1920x1080. Is it possible to convert this type of material for Apple TV? If so, what would be the best settings?

My question is somewhat related to this subject.
I produce HDTV clips with FCP6 cming from XDCAM-EX1 source. After having exported the FCP Sequence into QuickTime movie I go into Compressor and I would like to find the correct setting to be able to read my clip with Sony Play Station PS3. I tried all kinds of settings and the only one which works is the H.264 for Apple TV but its resolution is only 1280x720p.
I am surprised there is so little compatibility between Apple and the Sony PS3.
The PS3 is supposed to read:
MPEG-4 SP (AAC LC)
- H.264/MPEG-4 AVC Main Profile (AAC LC)
AVI
- Motion JPEG (Linear PCM)
- Motion JPEG (μ-Law)
AVCHD (.m2ts)
But only one of the settings provided by Compressor works ! This is terrible.

You modem is controled by your ISP. It does not matter what kind it is. If you already have other devices connected to it then you do not need any special hardware for ATV.

I'm trying to activate the Thesaurus function in the Dictionary.app, while composing in Apple Mail.
Have you tried dragging Thesaurus to the top of the list in Dictionary.app preferences? That should make this come up whenever you use the contextual menu.
Oops, sorry, that is for Leopard. Still in the preferences you can check the box for the Panel and that gives you access to the Thesaurus along with the dictionary.

Replacement for Apple Cinema Tools to batch conform for overcrank?

Apologies if I am asking this question in the wrong forum. And If I am, perhaps you could refer me to the right place,.
I use it to batch conform 60 fps (shot on my 7D) to other frame rates (30, 24 etc) to achieve smooth slow motion.
I know that there are ways to conform clips one-at-a-time in After Effects.
But I am seeking a simple one-step batch conform tool that will convert like Cinema Tools.
I also tried Red-Giant grinder, however it does not recognise the files coming out of my GoPro Hereo 3+.
Is there a way to do this with Adobe's products?

20" Apple Cinema LCD Display and GeForce FX 5200

My video card is GeForce FX 5200. I want to upgrade my monitor (finally!) to 20" Cinema Display. Do I need to upgrade my video/graphic card too? If so, what would be your recommendations?

The GeForce FX 5200 will support the 20" Cinema Display.
If you want to upgrade the 8x AGP graphics in your G5 (what model G5?), the ATI Radeon 9600 PC & Mac version would be a good upgrade from the 5200:

Compatible vesa adapter for Apple 20" Cinema Display M9177LLA?

What is the model number of the Vesa adapter that is compatible with the Apple Cinema LCD Display model number M9177LL/A???????

According to the Apple specs for that monitor it accepts the Apple VESA adapter.
The specs state "Compatible with VESA FDMI (MIS-D, 100, C) compliant mounting solutions." And the adapter states "complies with the VESA MIS-D, 100, C version of the specification." So I guess that will work to attach to that kind of VESA mount.

Universal Remote For Apple TV/Bose Solo/DVD Player??

I use the harmony one it control my appletv, sony tv, sony receiver, dab radio and satelite box
without any problems
one "program" it using a website in a browser or some logitech program depending on the model

Apple Cinema Display on Windows 7

Where can I find the Windows 7 x64 driver for Apple Cinema Display? I have a yellow warning for an USB Input Device because of it. The device IDs are:

I tried installing WinAcd, but I can't install it, I receive the error "the installer was interrupted".

obviously I troed to install WinACD but it wouldn't work (WinXP driver)...

Wireless setting for Apple devices

I would like to share your experiences on how to optimize your network for Apple devices. The use of Apple devices are far more common in the U.S. than it is in Denmark (Europe) where I am. We are getting there, but certainly still "lags" a little I think.
What is your experience with:
802.11k config wlan assisted-roaming. What is your experience is that good or bad?

Cisco recomend to use a WLAN for 802.11r clients and other WLAN for non 802.11r clients.
Propperly because a non 802.11r client will not be able to understand the respond from the AP. Right?
