Best car CD unit to hook up to ipod

I need to buy a CD player am/fm to put in my car. I would like to be able to hook my Classic 160 ipod up to it and see the Track info on the CD units display, be able to go back and forward using the CD unit track controls, but still be able to use the ipod to select tracks, playlists, etc. Is there such a unit and is one better than another?

Also interested in hearing opinions on this. I don't want to spend a fortune on it either. I see a number of units in the $120 - $150 range, but I'm unsure if they actually work with the Classic. I've heard about the incompatibilities.

  • Best Car Dock for Touch

I been thinking about getting the adapter for my car stereo so I can use my head unit to control my iPod. The problem is that it's just a cable with no dock or place to hold the Touch. What is the best car dock for the touch?

i bought this for both my parents cars. it works and you can use it for more then just an ipod, i had to put some mounting tape on it though, the stuff it comes with is crap.

  • After using my iPod classic in my infinity G35 a few weeks ago, I took it out of the car and it no longer works.  Just a white screen with the web address for Apple iPod support.  Worked fine when hooked up to iPod jack in car.  But wont work anywhere now

After using my iPod classic in my infinity G35 a for the last few weeks, I took it out of the car and it no longer works.  Just a white screen with the web address for Apple iPod support.  Worked fine when hooked up to iPod jack in car.  But won't work anywhere now.  I tried re-setting but has not worked.  Any ideas would be appreciated.

I finally resolved my problem after spending way too much time on it. I simply handed my 160GB iPod to my husband to put his fav Stones & Beatles songs on and I went back to my 80GB Microsoft Zune which has never disappointed me.
After spending so much time trying to figure this out I did finally take it back to Apple Store who performed a diagnostic and found there was a problem with the device. They replaced it with a refurbished one which has similar issues. All I wanted to do was listen to my music. Was that too much to ask? So I am happy to be free of this problematic device. No more Apple for me!!

  • Hooking up my ipod to my jvc car stereo

I have hooked up my ipod to my deck and all i get from my deck if the word check that just flashes. My ipod starts to recharge the battery. When i disconnect the ipod my deck then says no ipod. I have hooked another ipod to my deck and it works fine. I have also reseted and reformatted my ipod and it still will not sync with my deck what do i need to do to fix this problem. also my ipod works fine other than not syncing with my deck.

Who installed the car stereo? If you don't know the installer I would take car and iPod into Car Tunes or other 'Reputable' car audio installer and have it set up in proper working order. It may mean getting another new stereo but there is only one way to do this and that is to get it done right.
Hard, but I've found no other way around this type of problem than to hand out the cash to get it fixed.

  • Sharing contacts with in-car head units

Hello everyone. I'm new to the iPhone having upgraded from the Windows mobile devices I've always had in the past.
I have a small problem. I'm having trouble sending my contacts list to my in-car head unit, a Kenwood DNX7200. I've paired the device easily enough, but I just can't figured out how to Bluetooth my contact across. It was never difficut with my Windows phones, but the iPhone is giving me a headache!
Once it's done, I can access my contacts from the touch-screen without having to pick up the handset whilst driving.
Any help will be greatly appreciated.

  • How can you view an application to a car head unit

how can you view an application to a car head unit ( example) is the Motion X GPS

What do you mean car head unit? Like another display?
If you mean another display, it would only be supported by that specific app and car.

  • Best car kit/FM transmitter out there

I've finally gotten myself a 8GB Ipod nano. I travel in my car a lot and would like to play my music library in the car. What is the best car kit/FM transmitter on the market for a reasonable price??? I've seen some go for over $100, but I don't want to have to pay this much. I would have to go through the lighter as I don't have an aux. plug-in to my stereo. Thanks.

I think you shouldn't buy a Griffin transmitter made especially for iPod. Rather go to your nearest electronic store and buy something that sends music via your headphone plug-in. The price can go under 20 bucks!
There might me some people out there who disagree with me, but this is just my opinion.

  • Best car kit

I'm about to buy an E51 phone and would be grateful for advice about the best car kit to go with it. The main choices appear to be the CK-7W, CK-15W and CK-20W.
The features that are most important to me are:
    - Call quality including noise suppression
    - Ease of use when driving
    - Integration with car stereo especially mute finction and preferably using existing speakers
    - Ability to charge phone in attached cradle
The ability to plug an external audio player into the 20W via 8mm headphone plug sounds useful - how good is the sound quality?
Sorry if this is a newbie question - I'm happy to be directed to previous discussions but couldn't find much by searching the forum.

    Thanks Danny,
I'm curious as to why using a pop port connection would be a safety issue? Surely once the phone is plugged in and sat in a cubby hole, it's no different to using the kit with bluetooth?
I think I've come to the conclusion that I may as well buy any bluetooth handsfree and a separate charger. Most of the time I will not need to charge the phone in the car, but I need the facility just in case. At least with a separate charger, I will be able to use it in a different car.
I could buy a CK-1W which appears to be exacly the same as the 7W apart from the pop-port snd cheaper. Otherwise there are numerous universal handsfree kits available. Any suggestions?
    Nick.

  • What car audio units are compatible with the older CDX757MX 10 disk CD changer?

I would like to replace my car audio unit with one that can control the CDX757MX changer and also have an mp3 jack in the front. I know my current one is 10 years old. It still works but I want to still use the changer and also be able to plug in my mp3 player.
    Thanks John

I know this is a very old post but I have the same situation. I have two CD changers, the CDX757MX. I would like to buy a Sony stereo (used apparently) that will control 1 or both of them. I would really like to have a model with Bluetooth capability. Does such a stereo exist?
Could I please get a list of the compatible units for this changer?
    Thanks,

  • IPhone iOS4 unable connect to my Car Entertainment Unit

I have recently bought a Car Entertainment Unit, Pioneer DEH-5250SD, which work great with my Iphone, ipod function. Was able to use the unit to control the playback function, song selection, search function, basically most of the function of the ipod.
HOWEVER when I upgraded the iOS4, ERROR 19 was shown the unit. Nothing was heard! The two units did not work properly. Should I downgrade back to OS 3.13

I have recently done the exact same thing. Does anyone know if there is a resolution for this problem yet. Also running OS4 on the iPhone 3Gs.

  • Best Car Mount Holder for iPhone 6

I'm looking for the Best Car Mount Holder for iPhone 6, any suggestions?

Easy, Arkon's Mobile Grip 2 has already been named "best smartphone mount" by a number of other sites.  The MG279 is the one I use.
    http://www.arkon.com/mobile-grip/iphone-smartphone-windshield-dashboard-car-moun t-holder-MG279.html
Fits the iPhone 6 or iPhone 6 Plus, even if you're using a large Otterbox, Trident Case, Incipio Case, or other case.  Comes with a 2-year warranty.  Easy to use, spring-loaded holder.  Also features a 1/4"-20 threaded tripod pattern on the side of the holder so that you can take it off the mount and then use your iPhone 6 on any camera tripod.  I love that feature!  Less than $20 bucks...  4.5 star rated on Amazon.  http://www.amazon.com/Arkon-Windshield-Smartphone-iPhone-Samsung/dp/B00I58VAZS/r ef=sr_1_1?ie=UTF8&qid=1411326809&sr=8-1&keywords=MG279

  • ZEN X-Fi3 and Kenwood in car head unit.

    Hi,
Will the ZEN X-Fi3 work and play nicely with my Kenwood in car head unit?
My old Zen MicroPhoto played over aux-in, but refused to do anything over USB.
Have things moved on, will new Zen devices operate over USB, thereby giving full device control through the Kenwood head unit?
    Thank you.

    Hello FantasticPlace,
Base from the knowledge base article, it's possible.
    5. USB car stereo connection:
These connections will only read your player through "removable drive". In this case, the USB port would apply only for Mass Storage Class (MSC) players such as a ZEN X-Fi3, ZEN X-Fi2, ZEN Style M300/M100, ZEN X-Fi Style, ZEN Style.
Here's the link to the article. By the way, welcome to the forums!

  • Car head units for the 3G?

Anyone knows of some that can both charge and transmit sound from the 3G via the iPod/iPhone connector without issues?

There have been many many reports of the new iPods not working with existing accessories including car head units.
My iPod Classic does not work with my Kenwood car unit. However, I have other older iPods that do so it's no big deal.
