Best cheap canon printer

I need recomendation for best cheap canon printer, thanks

Hi HVStudio,
If you don't need to print documents larger than leter or legal size, I would recommend the iP7220.  More information on this printer can be found at the following URL:

  • Best Canon Printer for custom CARDSTOCK printing

Hello, just looking for advice on the best Canon printer for printing on 7 x 10" cardstock.
    I want:
    a toploading (or rear loading)
    inkjet
    prints easily on cardstock
able to set custom size paper size (7X10")
    not expensive!
Giving up on HPs, and reading that Canon printers do well with heavier stock. Any advice/opinion is welcome. THANK YOU!!

  • Best practices for printing on a DVD?

I have Taiyo Yuden printable white (inkjet) DVDs and an Epson R280 - getting ready to try printing on the DVDs and was wondering any best practices?
    - Print on the DVD before burning or after?
    - Should I use the Epson software or is there an outside program that is better?
    - Any other tips?
    Thanks!
    Alexa

    Hi Deborah -
Welcome! As Eric says above, never put labels on your DVDs. In many cases, the adhesive can eventually cause problems and irrevocably damage the disc.
So, going with "labeling" as in putting information on the disc about what it contains, these days, a regular consumer can actually just use an inkjet printer that offers the ability (usually a special tray). I have an Epson Stylus Photo R280 (and there are other Epson models), there are several HPs and a few Canons. My printer was actually free with a digital camera from Circuit City but would have retailed for $149 at the time, so they aren't really all that expensive. Just search for printers with that function and you'll find all your choices.
Then you want to buy inkjet-printable DVDs or CDs and you're off (and there are a bunch of options there - I found it easier to order online to get a good quality, long-lasting DVD that is inkjet printable - the supplies at the local office stores were not good)! Usually your printer comes with software to do the design/print but then Old Toad has a great recommendation above.
I'm printing with a new "watershield" DVD from Taiyo Yuden (which is known for it's quality and are long-lasting, up to 75 years, not that we'll be on DVD players then!) which makes an inkjet print "unsmudgeable." There are a few other brands like that or some people use a spray on them because the downside to inkjet is that it can smudge if you touch with moist fingers or if anything wet touches it. Water shield DVDs are magical, I've found - makes a glossy print (even though inkjet) and locks in the design so it's smudgeproof. Still they are more expensive than others. I'd probably search around the forum here or other forums on DVDs and CDs if you want to look into them more.
    Good luck!
    Alexa
p.s. I was told that if you absolutely can't print on them, then to use a thin Sharpie with minimal writing on the DVD. I think some stores sell "DVD safe" pens but I've never been convinced that they are anything but a sharpie at a premium price - maybe someone else on here will know.

  • Knock-off Ink Queers Canon Printer Output

Sorry, I didn't know where else to go with this.
I have about a 4-year old Canon color printer. It used to print very nicely, if slowly. To save money I bought a package of that knock-off printer ink at Costco. I've been having trouble ever since. The print-out colors are not the same as the on screen color. They seem to be faded or otherwise 'off'. Colors seem to be having trouble mixing.
Yes, I have gone back to using authentic Canon cartridges. Yes, I have cleaned the heads with alcohol and clean cloth. Yes, I have done deep cleaning, head alignment, etc. My friend, who recommended the knock-off ink has also been having trouble with his Canon printing, too.
We wonder what can we do? Any ideas?

I would agree with Ji~m's assessment; you may have not printed enough to clear the channels in the print head to purge all the problem ink. I'd suggest you run the printer's cleaning routing until the problem clears up. Note, though, that some cheap knockoff ink can cause permanent problems with the printer, for which the only solution is an expensive repair or replacement of the printer.
For the future, be very cautious about using any ink not from the printer's vendor or approved by them. Some ink works fine and some, as I said, can completely (and in some cases permanently) mess up your printer. Many vendors will balk at honoring a warranty for any problems that may be related to use of non-approved ink.
Good luck; I'm afraid you may need it.

  • HT3771 Installing non Canon printer profiles for ix4000 printer

Printing has been a disaster since either OS10.6. or manufacturers started to cater for multi ink printers, about the same time 18 months ago.
Canon best quality glossy photopaper pro was always bad, biassed to yellow green. HP Premium Plus was good in its old fomulation, as was Ilford Classic Pearl.
Now ALL papers have the bias to yellow green (though not sufficently consistent to correct in print dialogue). Even the new Ilford Gallerie smooth pearl using their profile <n_IGSPP11_CANiX4000_PPPGn.icc>
I am now trying the new HP paper Premium Plus Photo Glossy 300gsm with better results as far as print density goes, but still a green-yellow bias.
I thought I might be able to download an HP profile eg <HP_CP_series_High_Gloss_photo_best.icc>, but I can't find any way to install it; doesn't behave like the Ilford ones in the Colorsynch profile folder.
Anyone have any ideas on EITHER installing an HP profile (and which one would suit 3-colour+black printer to use with canon printer) OR correcting the colour bias consistently please?
PS I live too far in the sticks to turn to shops & do (or rather did & hope to re-start) too much printing for camera club comps, greetings cards and local sales

    Allan,
First questions...is your monitor hardware calibrated? How is the quality of other printing (from Photoshop, InDesign, Illustrator, Acrobat, etc.)?
I'm thinking that if this is a problem specific to printing from the Avery software, you should speak with Avery and ask how you should set up your files for printing through their software.

  • Best Ink Jet Printer

What would be the best ink jet printer to hook to a airport extreme router with both Mac's and Pc's hooked to it.
No need for high end printing mostly black & white word documents and a few colour pages for school projects.

    The best one "for what?".
According to your post, if you're looking to print mostly B&W and some color, basically, any modern printer will do.
One point that you've to check carefully is the cost of the replacement ink cartridges.
The very cheap printers (+/- US$ 60.00) usually use one cartridge for the 3 colors (Red,Green and Blue) and one for the Black, and replacement of these cartridges cost almost the price of a new printer.
The ones over US$ 100.00 have separate cartridges for each color, so, when you run out of one color you'll have to replace ONLY that color, which can amount for a lot of savings.
If you also would like to print labels directly to the surface of the blank CD's and DVD's, then I would recommend an Epson (there're various models that'll do this).
    Regards

  • I have working Netgear network. Want to add new Time Capsule and run 2nd network for new apple TV and Imac, and keep the netgear network for my PC and Canon printer.

I have working Netgear N600 dual band router network. The existing network has an XP netbook PC, canon printer, 2 Iphones, Epson Air printer, an Ipad, 3 roku boxes, backup drive. Just bought a new Apple TV box, and time capsule 2T.  I have an IMac on order but don't have it here yet.
My goal is to add new Time Capsule and create 2nd "apple" network for new apple TV, Iphones, Ipad, Epson Air printer and new Imac, and keep the netgear network for my PC, Roku TV boxes, and Canon printer and backup drive.
The Netgear router, the time capsule and new IMac will be on the same desktop, I dont need to backup my netbook PC to time capsule.
    Where do I start?
Which device connects to my modem first, the TC2 or the Netgear?
Is it best wait for the Imac before starting or can the TC2 be set up from my Ipad or PC?
    Thanks.

    It is pretty simple..
Setup the TC in bridge and plug it into the Netgear.. I would leave the netgear as the main router for now, although in the future you can swap things around. The netgear firmware may have issues with bonjour and airplay/airprint?? Does your ipad print ok now?
You can setup the TC using Mac, PC (at least up to win7) or iOS.. they all have airport utility available.
Bridge mode is set differently depending on the version of the utility. This is v5 and how the windows one will look (at least similar to).
    v6 will be as
With the TC in bridge you will still create a wireless network.. and give it a different name from the netgear.. then all the apple devices can connect to it. Use ethernet rather than wireless if the imac is on the desktop with it. Much faster and better for using Time Machine backups.
If you run into any issues.. just post the particular issue. It will take a bit of getting used to, but isn't hard.

  • I have macbook pro w existing iPhoto library. Now have Canon printer and loaded Canon software for same. Cannot access iPhoto library from Canon software, but prints fine from iPhoto. How can I use iPhoto library w Canon software?

I have a macbook pro w exisitng iPhoto library. I now have Canon printer and loaded Canon software for same. I cannot access iPhoto library for use from Canon software. I can print from iPhoto directly to new printer without problem. How can I use iPhoto library with Canon software? I would like to try the software to see which I prefer...

Simply export some photos from iPhoto to a folder on the desktop and experiment.
Without telling us even what this program is, not to mind what it does, that's the best anyone can suggest.

  • Best color photo printer?

I was wondering if anybody has some suggestions as to what the best color photo printer out there is...I am going to be printing 8 X 10 color photos, and the only consideration that really matters to me is the quality of the photo prints themselves...I don't need bells and whistles like printing on CD's or oversize paper, and speed doesn't really matter either...all I'm concerned about is just getting the best possible quality color prints. Any help would be appreciated. Thanks!

Hi, Dana. Epson and Canon make a number of inkjet photo printers that are well worth considering, and nearly all professional photographers use one make or the other (or both). But you aren't looking for a professional-level printer, in all likelihood: I suspect you're looking for something in the $70-$300 range, yes?
A concern you haven't mentioned and may not have thought about is the permanence of the prints you make: none of the inexpensive printers will make prints that will retain their original quality more than a few years if kept out of the sun, or more than a few weeks or months in sunlight. There are a number of different ink types available, mostly for use in certain printer models and not in others, with different longevity characteristics — and each ink will also have diffferent longevities when applied to different print papers, of which there are now a vast array to choose from. So go to Epson's and Canon's web sites and read about their products.
I would avoid HP's offerings if I were you. HP does not understand the Mac and never has, no matter what its literature says, and its printers have nothing to offer that Epson and Canon can't beat. Lexmark, Brother, and the others you may see advertised are mere also-rans as far as photo printing is concerned.

  • Recommend a good Canon printer?

    Hi ,
can anyone recommend a good Canon printer (for standard text printing etc no photo printing) which take cheap compatible inks.
Canon seem to be OSX friendly so help would be appreciated and cheap inks is of importance.I looked at the iP1800 but theres no compatible inks for it as only Canon inks are available but there very expensive in the UK anyway.
    cheers
    Nb

Just to compare this Epson all in one £47.00 has a bulit in scanner great if you have doc's that you just need a copy of. Also memory card reader, individual color with a large black cartridges and Mac compatiple.

    Canon
I'm not tring to sell you on an all-in-one, just compare the features.

  • How can I set up a Canon printer on iMac with cd? (iMac has no cd/dvd drive?)

Purchased the latest iMac with no dvd drive; also purchased a Canon printer with dvd set-up; how can I install printer on iMac?

Macs do not usually need to download anything from the CDs that come w/printers.  Read the user manual that came w/the printer and/or contact Canon Support.
Or purchase an external burner.  Do not purchase Apple's usb burner.  3rd party burners are 110% better.

  • I'm trying to share a new Canon printer wirelessly between my HP laptop and my iMac.  I've successfully printed from both computers, but, I get errors trying to print on one after I've printed on the other.  Any ideas on how to get them to both to print?

I installed a new Canon printer several months ago that I was told by the salesman could be shared between my iMAC and HP laptop.  I have successfully used the printer wirelessly from both computers, however, it gets hung up switching between the two and I'm not sure what to do to get it to be consistent.  Any ideas?

You didn't state how it's connected to each computer, if it's connected through your router then it should work. If it doesn't then you need to contact Canon and ask for assistance.

  • How can I set Firefox to print to PDF, the only otions I have are (1) My Canon printer, (2) Fax or (3) Microsoft XPS document writer. There is no option for PDF

A couple of weeks ago, from the file menu, in my print options was to print a web page to PDF, that facility is no longer there. does anyone know how can I set Firefox to print to PDF.
The only options I have are (1) My Canon printer, (2) Fax or (3) Microsoft XPS document writer. There is no option for PDF

Firefox generally displays the printers in Windows' Printers folder (Start orb > Devices and Printers). If it is missing one of the printers listed there, could you indicate which one it is, for example, Adobe Distiller, PrimoPDF, CutePDF Writer, etc.?
If you previously had an add-on which added print-to-PDF functionality just to Firefox, perhaps it got disabled. You could check here:
orange Firefox button ''or'' classic Tools menu > Add-ons > Extensions
Also, are you really running Firefox 8.0.1? That version from last November is no longer secure and has been superseded by Firefox 11. If you browse the web widely, you should update for your security.

  • Sharing the Canon printer on my iMac with a Windows Vista PC

    Sorry guys,
You must have been asked this many times before. I just cannot share my Canon iP4500 with a friend's PC running Vista. I have installed Bonjour on his PC, but haven't got a clue how to access it on Vista. The PC and the iMac both connect to a wireless router, but trying to make them talk to each other is proving very difficult!
If someone here has the knowledge and patience, what I would like is a step-by-step guide. Do I need to install the Canon printer driver onto the PC? The assistance on the Apple web site is very sparse in this area, to say the least!
    Thank you in advance.
    Graham

    Hi Graham,
In the Sharing pref pane on the Mac, are Windows sharing and Printer Sharing both enabled?
Not positive on the PC end, but I think Printer Sharing should not be enabled.
Bonjour on the PC is accessed by right clicking on a Connection, at least in XP.
See if this is some small help...
