Best compression for flash videos on my webpages?

does anyone know the best way to convert short video clips so they will work great with flash and have the best quality possible for the web. i know a lot of different ways to convert them for the web, but i am having a hard time converting them to high, high quality for flash. can anyone please help?

you are talking about converting video, like quicktime movies, to flash right? if so, utodesk Cleaner converts abotu anythign to .flv or .swf. If you are trying to convert a worse format to flash, which is already a lower quality format (which is why it is used for web), then i'm not sure why you would.

  • Best export for flash video

I have completed an edit of a 7 minute teaser for a feature film and need to export it to be displayed online in a flash player. The footage is HD 1080i, 29.97fps and edited in the Animation coded. My experience with best exports for flash conversion is very limited so please bare with with.
    1) Is it possible to export directly from FCP to a flash file? If yes, would that be a good idea, or should I use third party softwares for better results?
    2) Which third party softwares are recommended for flash conversion? And what export compression should I use in FCP for best flash conversion results?
    3) Any other tips and tricks to get the best quality for flash video display?
Any help would obviously be greatly appreciated. Thank you.

When I have quality HD video that I want to export for flash, I compress it with h.264 codec. Then, with the new version of Flash, you can swap out the .mp4 extension for .f4v and your good to go in Flash. Quality looks pretty good at a fraction of the file size.

  • Compressing for flash video setting

Anyone out there building content for flash video? I have a client who is shooting all their footage on a sony HD cam. All footage comes to me as 1080i60. They have requested all content be converted or embedded into flash at a 400X300 canvas size.
I have tried some differant setting but most comes up somewhat pixilated. Any ideas?
Thanks in advance for any ideas.

Maybe this is helpful: Flash 8 Pro comes with a Flash 8 Video Encoder. It automatically converts Quicktime files into a .flv flash video file WITH a .swf AND a playback skin.
The cool thing about this is how Flash then plays this back as a "progressive download," therefore less waiting time for it to start playback and smoother playback and very nice quality.
I have a sample of this at size 540x400, larger than I have made in the past with other programs, just to see how it would look. I'm still playing with the dimensions. Thinking of making it smaller, actually; but the quality really holds up, I thought. http://web.mac.com/bfkproductions/HomeOne/PowWowSample.html

  • Best compression for broadcast video

    Hi
I need to compress a very short piece for broadcast (5 sec, no audio). What is the best compression to keep it around 25Mb?

It should be. 5 seconds at DV should be 125MB.
If you have to get under 25MB, then I'd suggest getting into h.264. It should give you a very good output at 25MB, though of course not the same as DV.
If you do use a different coded make sure to do it from a QT reference movie so your material doesn't get an extra DV compression.

  • Best compression for music video.

    hello...
i'm currently working on a music video using my DV cam, and flash animation.
I've exported the animation in DV Pal format (since in a mpeg2 format takes ages to render). What am asking is, which compressor should i use to export the whole thing onto a dvd? I usually do it with the 3divx compressor but i was wondering if there are any tips you could offer...
    thanks in advance.

If you are creating a DVD, start with your DV footage and encode in Compressor, BitVice or whatever encoder you have to MPEG2/m2v video format.

  • What is the best compression for youtube videos ?

I know I can go in export movie, then chosse medium for youtube, but is there a better compression because when I upload it on youtube, the quality is much lower. Should i export with QuickTime or i dunno ?
    Thnx for aswering !!

What is your source material? If it is DV, then sending to YouTube in the Medium Preset is fine.
If your source is AVCHD, you could import at 1920x1080. Then after editing, share using QuickTime at 1280x720 in h.264. Then upload to YouTube through the website.

  • What's the Best App For Watching Videos on iPad Air?

Okay, so there's no Flash past, present or future for the iPad.  I read some discussions here in the archives from a year and two ago about which workaround works around best (or least badly).  Is there any update now as of December 2013 for what's the best app for viewing videos online on the iPad (Air)?  Thanks.

I downloaded the new (2013) version of Photon and it's been playing, appropriately enough, episodes of Star Trek: TAS that otherwise require Flash.   The one thing I have to remember is to click the goofy lighting bolt icon toward the top right-hand corner of the Photon screen when I return to warch an episode if I stopped in the middle.  Basically it will turn off the "Flash" emulation when the screen goes dark with inactivity, and then when you reopen Photon it crashes and you have to re-reopen Photon, click on the link to return to the website, and then click the lightning bolt icon.  I don't know why the producers made it that way, as it's pretty inconvenient, but maybe they wanted to make a browser more than a Flash emulator.  I haven't tried other Flash videos yet, but so far, so good.  :-)

thats way too vague of a question... best what?  quality? size? playback?
best quality then use high bitrate, small size use low bitrate.

What is the best Computer for HD video editing where can I get it under $3000- $5000.00?

The wording of your question suggests you may be new to video editing, in which case the types of projects you will be doing may not be the most complex.
Please accept my apology if that assumption is incorrect.
The cheapest computer available will edit 1080p video perfectly well but if you must have the "best" you will be looking at nothing less than a MacPro.

  • Best compression for video with a lot of static text and graphics

Hello! I am producing an instructional DVD and am getting ready to output the files and was wondering what the best compression format would be for me to use.
About 1/3 of the clips consist of video shot in SD with very little movement (guy sitting at a desk talking to the camera.) The rest contains graphics created in After Effects and then imported back into Final Cut. The graphics are primarily text based, and don't change too often. There are some still images as well, but they are static for the most part save for some occasional panning. Oh, and the total length of all the video clips is about 70 minutes.
I would like to compress these videos so as to get the best possible quality in the text. I did a few tests, but the quality in the letters seemed a little worse than I had hoped. Is this just going to be an inevitability I have to live with, or is there a particular setting that would help me out?
Thanks for reading this; any help would be greatly appreciated!
PowerBook G4 Mac OS X (10.4.7) 1.25 GB DDR SDRAM

You know--I really have no idea why I didn't do it that way. I exported uncompressed files from After Effects and then imported them into FCP; some of the files are huuuge, like 60 GB+
I think in the next version of this I will probably just edit in FCP then import it into AE, and then export from there. As it stands though, I've sort of made some changes and done stuff in FCP after importing the clips, so I'd like to just export using Compressor.
So are you saying it's better to export uncompressed from FCP and then import that into Compressor and go from there? I've been just selecting the 'Export Using Compressor' option in FCP and going from there...
    Thanks!

  • Best compression for video on web

i have a website (made with iWeb and published on .mac) and I have a few pages of video clips. They vary in length from 30 seconds to about 6 minutes or so.
What is the best compression to use? I've been using H.264 and the sizes of the files go from about 7Mb up to 12Mb - it just takes such a long time to load online.
How can I create video that looks good but loads quickly? For example, how do movie sites create their trailers for online use? They look great and you can see that the progress bar on the video loads up really quickly, meaning that the video start playing almost as soon as it loads.
With my site, it takes a good minute or two before it starts to play. Any ideas?

*how do movie sites create their trailers*
No offence meant, not on iMacs. They have more expensive hardware for this.
The subject of video compression for web has been discussed on this and adjacent fora many times and I suggest you use the search function. Also, googling would be a good idea, especially words like Brian Gary who is the Compressor guru.
The topic is too complex for a quick post. I apologize for not having the time to type more.

  • Best practices for posting video to my iWeb site?

What's the best way to upload movies to my site so that visitors can watch them while sacrificing the least amount of quality, size and speed?
As an example, the iPhone commercials on the Apple webpage start playing instantly, look great and when Large is selected are the perfect size.
But I made a 1.5 minute iSight video on iMovie and saved it as a streaming quicktime file and it takes about 10 minutes to fully load once it's on my site. And I have a 10 mpbs internet connection.
I also just pulled up a large movie trailer on iTunes and it looks great and started playing instantly.
Is there a better way for posting video? Perhaps in flash or another codec that would make more sense? Videos on youTube play instantly, although the quality isn't always great.
    thanks!
MacBook Pro   Mac OS X (10.4.9)

There is no absolute correct way. One way is shown in this demo page. It lets the page load without having the movie load thus speeding up the page load a fair amount. The movie only has to load when the Play button is clicked on and then it opens in a separate window sized just for the movie. The code used is also shown on the page. This way can allow you to use a larger QT file and not affect the loading of the original page it's linked to.

  • What is the best compression for HD footage for online use?

I have a sequence with the following specs:
HD (960x720) (16:9), HD 960x720 aspect ratio, DVCPRO HD 720p60 compressor and need to output a 300x250 file for an online banner.
Was wondering what you think the best looking compression would be for me to use plus whats the best way for me to keep the aspect ratio consistent within the new dimensions.
Any help would be much appreciated! thanks!

While a lot of people have Flash, not all of them have the latest version (or even the previous version). Newer versions of the Flash Player support better video codecs. I still encounter people (corporations) that are still only using Flash Player 7…
