Best Configuration For RAM Upgrade?

Hi, I purchased an additional 4GB (2x2GB) of RAM to go into my Mac Pro. I was wondering which Riser should I add the two sticks to, in the remaining 2 on Riser A, or the first two on Riser B? Also if I put them on Riser A, should I move the two sticks of 512 to slots 3/4 an put the 2GB sticks in 1/2?

Put them in the back two slots on Riser B (below the two installed in Riser A.)

What memory modules can we use for RAM upgrade of HP Pavilion dv5-1198de??
    Max RAM?  Vista?  Windows 7?

I can't find a dv5-1198de but I did find a dv5-1198er which should be similiar. It states up to 8 gb of ram. HERE
I would try www.Crucial.com for suggested memory ,you can use their Scanner Tool to let it detect what you have and what you can upgrade/replace with.

  • SAP Best Practice For Unicode Upgrades - NetWeaver 2004s

    Team SAP,
I have a customer that is starting to plan for a Unicode upgrade.  The question from the customer is as follows:
What is the SAP Best Practice for Unicode Upgrades?  They will be upgrading from a BW 3.5 System to NetWeaver 2004s, and their question is ... should they:
       a) Perform the Unicode Upgrade At The Same Time As Their BW 3.5 > NetWeaver 2004s Upgrade, or
       b) Perform NetWeaver 2004s Upgrade first, and then at a later date, perform the Unicode Upgrade?
Thank you in advance for any guidance or counsel you may be able to offer.

  • Best configuration for maximum WiFi speed?

Hello, I am trying to configure my network for the best WiFi speed. I have a Comcast/Xfiinity Modem/ Wireless Router (SMCD3GNV) with speed of 50 Mbps down and 10 Mbps up (acutally 87 down and 11.5 up last time tested) and 3 Airport Extremes, and a 16 port GB switch.  I am really confused about what should be plugged in to what and how to set up the Airport extemes for best WiFi speed for laptops, iphones and iPads etc. . I have a large house and want the WiFi to be available everywhere. Shoud I plug the Modem/Router and the first Airport extreme into the switch and then set up the other 2 Airport extremes as extended networks, or should I plug all the Airports into the switch, or should I plug just the first Airport into the switch and then connected the other 2 Airports into the 1st?  Like I said I am really confused. Any help you can offer would be appreciated.
    Thanks in advance,
    Vic

For the best configuration for maximum WiFi speed, connect all your Extremes to the switch.
The effective range of your wireless network will be a function of the distances the Extremes are from one another. Each will be limited by Ethernet specification to a maximum distance 100m from the switch or adjacent Extreme.

I will be buying an IMac 27 inch in December. What is the best configuration for photo and possibly video processing.Does one need a Mac Pro? Dream machine!

Just to explain what I just wrote to Laundry Bleach:
Why is there no iDVD on my new Mac?
    https://discussions.apple.com/docs/DOC-3673
    UPDATE & ADDENDUM:
But even though you can still buy iLife 11 that includes iDVD 7 from Amazon, Apple now make it difficult to install:
Poster jhb21939 posted this in another thread:
“when I attempted to load iDVD into a new iMac. A notice came up on the screen stating that the 'Authorisation Licence' had expired on 25 March this year (2012).
I contacted the Apple support team and eventually, I was told that the Licence had been withdrawn and could no longer be used.”
In other words Apple are now so adamant that we don’t use iDVD that they have tried to make it impossible to install.
In response, Old Toad posted this solution:
“You can still use it one all of your Macs.  If you get an invalid certificate message just set your Mac's clock to sometime before early 2011 and run the installer.  After you're done reset the time back to the correct time.” He added this comment:
“It began after iDVD and iWeb were discontued and they were dropped from the Apple Store. All I can think of is the certificate was set to expire after a certain time period after the intitial iLife disc was released.
I've been able to use the installer even without setting back the date.  I just clicked on the Continue button and it would work as expected.  For some it would not continue unless the date was set back.”
The latest anorexic iMacs just announced do not even include a CD drive! Proof positive that Apple virtually prohibit the use of DVDs - although the newly announced Mac Minis do include a Superdrive.
Yet, they still include iMovie! Heaven alone knows or understands what you are supposed to do with your newly edited masterpiece - except make a low quality version for YouTube?

  • Best Configuration for Laptop

I just purchased, and upgraded, a laptop that has:
GTX 470 (3 GB dedicated video)
    24 GB DDR3 RAM
120 GB primary internal SSD (C Drive) (up to 550MB/s read, up to 500MB/s Write)
480 GB second internal SSD (D Drive) (up to 540MB/s read, up to 460MB/s write)
    i7 processor
I shoot with 3 Sony HDR CX550V's. They of course compress to H.264...
So, what is the best way to setup this laptop? Basically, I installed the OS and software on the primary drive. Then I opened up premiere and created a blank project and setup "Media" and "media cache" under project settings to store in a folder on the D drive. I assume I don't want anything on the primary drive, no cache, no renders, just keep it clean.
But the C drive is faster and I would like your professional, experience opinion as to how to best configure this. Should I render out to the C since it has faster write? Should I store cache on C in a folder that I clean out every now and then? Data files on D? etc...
This laptop has a thunderbolt port too, and 4 USB3.0, it's an Asus laptop. I have an external drive, but it's RDD, 7200 RPM's. I could get an external SSD but for the most part I don't want to use an external drive in my workflow. However, for bigger projects if there's a major advantage I may need or at least want to do that. So, suggestions for this scenario would be appreciated too, but mostly curious about the best way to deal with my internal drives. I am curious if there would be a big difference expected with an external drive(s) in the mix...

Also, please be specific, like where to put what:
    Project (premiere project files)
    Scratch (video/audio previews)
Source files, my H.264 files that is)
    Exports (Renders)
"Media Cache Files" and "Media Cache Database" under preferences/media
And anything else specific that would be helpful to know.
    Thanks!

  • Whats the Best Configuration for Professional Photographers ???

    Hello Everybody,
Can Please somebody tell Me Whats the Right Configuration for a Photographer I am Into Photography and Have to edit files (Photos ) upto 35 - 60 Mb size In Photoshop CS4 or Phase One Software which itself takes about 1GB of RAM I think Is The New 20" iMac 2.66Ghz with 2Gb RAM enough or do I need a 4GB RAM ??? This is the first time I will be going for a Apple Product so have no Idea about the System Please let Me know as Soon as Possible
    Thankyou

I think any of the current models would be up to the task. But since you are a pro photographer, you might consider NOT getting the base line 20" model and instead upgrading to the 24" model. Not only do you get a bigger screen to work with when editing your photos, but it also comes standard with 4GB, twice the memory of the 20" model.

  • The Best Configuration for Mac Pro

    Hey All,
I'm getting a Mac Pro in April, and I'm just seeing if you guys new the best configureation for the Mac Pro, Now I like alot of space and I love watching Dvd's on my mac, I'm also really in to making great home movies!
    Thanks!

You don't need to do much of anything to get good performance.
Once you've gotten use to it, and paid down a bit, shop for more RAM, check for what type and size of drives, and do make sure to include backups and maintenance.

  • Best Configuration for temporary move

I have recently moved for 90 days.  During this 90 day stay I’m in a separate area of a house that has a wireless network set up.  I have their Wireless Key and able to use their connection to the internet.  I also have access physical access to where their modem & router are at, but I’d like to set it up and be out of their way.  In 90 days I’ll be back at own house and able to plug it back into my DSL  modem and be on my way.  I’d rather leave my network configured the way it is configured – even if that means buying some additional hardware during these 90 days.
I own a Linksys WRT54G Router and have everything all set up correctly to go to DSL modem, but now need to connect it to a Wireless Connection in this temporary house.
During my temporary 90 day stay – what is the best configuration to connect to wirelessly from my “network” to my temporary connections internet access?
Any good links you can send me with set up & configuration advice?

If they have a Wireless router that you could use You could just connect a wireless access port (portable usb access card) that plugs in your usb slot and will give you access to their wireless connection. I don't know if Linksys makes wireless cards or not maybe someone can help you in that regard but you can probably get them cheaply at your local computer store or big box store.
    hope this helps

  • Best configuration for Time Capsule & Airport Extreme running one wireless network?

We just moved to a house that does not have Ethernet pre-wired so I've had to re-setup the wireless network in a different configuration and it seems we're experiencing deteriorated wireless signal for devices like laptops.  It will work perfectly fine (and fast! wheee!!!) but then it will slow to a crawl and mostly timeout.  before I reset everything and start from scratch, I'd like some help.  As an FYI, when connected via Ethernet to either of these, Internet is blazingly fast… so my problem here is the Wireless portion.
As some background, here is how we had the network set up in the previous house which was working great (although it was wired for Ethernet which made things A LOT easier):
    Airport Extreme (4th Generation)
Wireless Mode: Create a Wireless Network
Internet Facing (Connected to the Cable Modem)
Location: Upstairs Utility Closet (with Smartbox and cable modem)
    Time Capsule (1st Generation)
Wireless Mode: Extend a Wireless Network
Joined to existing network above, but also connected to the Ethernet jack
    Location: Upstairs Office
Here is the current set up we have running:
    Time Capsule (1st Generation)
Wireless Mode: Create a Wireless Network
Internet Facing (Connected to the Cable Modem)
    Radio Mode: 802.11n (b/g compatible)
    Location: Upstairs Office
    Airport Extreme (4th Generation)
Wireless Mode: Extend a Wireless Network
Joined to existing network above with NO incoming Ethernet connection
    Location: Downstairs Family Room
My understanding is that the Airport Extreme should pick up and relay the signal downstairs, as well as provide the router for the devices downstairs that need Ethernet (TiVo, Apple TV, etc).
So, my question is (and thank you in advance for helping me sort this out!), what would be the best configuration to optimize the Wireless performance in the house?
Also, for whichever device is the one picking up the existing network and providing the router capabilities for the Tivo and such, is it possible for it to pick up but not rebroadcast the signal?  I think in this new house we may have a good enough signal from the office, without the need to rebroadcast it.  My theory is that in this house, they are too close together and interfere with each other and/or devices aren't sure which to choose so they bounce back and forth endlessly.  Again, just a theory.
Many thanks again for your help! If I've left out any information, please ask and I can provide.

Should they be running on the same channel (as with the "Extend" option previously? Or just both on Automatic channels?
I would recommend the Automatic setting on both devices because this will allow each router to scan and choose an open channel automatically. If  you want to set the channels manually, keep them separated by at least 4-5 channels. You would not want to ever use the same channel for both devices in this type of "roaming" setup.
Is there a way to limit bandwidth per device (or action) so that it doesn't monopolize the network and keep other devices from using it?
Nothing that I am aware of. It sounds like  you have some young users who are likely visiting Bit Torrent sites, which will really gobble up the bandwidth with big, heavy downloads. The Time Machine has to back up the same files again when it makes the next pass, so that clogs things up again.
Backups would go 3-5 times faster, on average, if the computer(s) could connect using Ethernet, but I understand that wires are not cool with the younger crowd.
should BOTH the TC and AE be set up in Bridge mode?
The AirPort Extreme should be set up in Bridge Mode.
The Time Capsule...it depends. If the TC is connected to a simple cable modem...then the correct setting for Connection Sharing would be "Share a public IP address" on the TC. That is because a simple modem has only 1 IP address to deliver. The TC takes that address and "shares" it with other devices by setting up a local network for all your other devices.
If the TC is connected to a gateway....a combination modem/router in the same box that usually has 3-4 Ethernet ports on the device....then that device would be considered the main router on the network and the TC would be  configured in Bridge Mode in that case to function correctly on the network.

  • Need Recommendations on Best Configuration For My SW Needs Please!

    Ok,
Besides all the "normal" stuff, I run Apple Aperture and Pixelmator (may one day move to PhotoShop). My finances limit me to either a 4 core @ 2.93Ghz or an 8 core @ 2.26Ghz. (Assume the RAM is the same at 6G.
Which unit will deliver me the best performance for these applications? If you need more info, please just let me know.
    Thanks in advance!

    Hi,
Don't forget about places like this:http://www.powermax.com/parts/code/PMCNMP
I saved $400 in taxes buying my Mac from them. And they are darn fine people to boot.
Also keep an eye out for what Apple sells as refurbished. Not that much of a price break, but it is some. Plus, Applecare is almost essential for these machines and that still covers their used models.
The 8 core will give you a little more speed and offers more options for growth, but I think the Hatters advice is very sound.
