Best conversion for the web site
Hi Folks
I made a Video with my HD camera and made a nice movie in iMovie HD 6 in 1080i-30. what is the best conversion to view it on my web site. I have tried a few of the settings but none thrill me. all either too small or too square. What are the best settings for wide screen conversion for the web?

I just bought the Cannon HV20 camera on Monday 5/7/07 and shot this Video on Tuesday night 5/8/07. I have never owned a Video camera before and true to the advertisement the canon was just point and shoot and I got pretty decent Video. We passed the camera around to everyone in the band so that everyone could shoot a little and everyone could be in the video. next time I think i'll bring a friend to shoot so we can just play.
I had no problem at all importing the video from the HV20 into iMovie as some here have been experiencing. I thought iMovie was very easy to use and since I am used to working in Logic Pro I know to hit save every couple of edits, just in case of a crash, which it did a couple of times

The topic comes up weekly, sometimes daily, so you've got lots of advice to rummage through. However, you must determine if you want streaming files, which require the QT Streaming Server application, or you're actualy downloading with quick start. Huge difference.
Be aware, the term "best" is not applicable to compression for Web video. You can have image size, frame rate, and image quality be better but only one at a time. Pick one, the others suffer. It's a question of bit rate, not file size. Time to take your Compressor manual to the gym with you. Transcoding is a difficult and complex process.

I know that this is probably not the place to raise this, but I really dont know where to look for a solution to this.
I have a customer who I have requested SAP Portal USer ID's for and they have all been generated 'S' numbers accroding to my requests.
However, none of these numbers is physically allowing these people access to the bits of the web-site that they should abe allowed to.
I have checked that they all have the correct authorisations, and I have also sent a feedback message to SAP as per the instructions when you get a situation where 'S' numbers do not appear to be working correctly ans as yet I ahev heard nothing back from them.
Can anyone suggest any reasons as to what might be causing this issue and whether there is anywhere that I could turn to get this sorted out.

What are BEST settings for the WEB?
Hello, I have a short in RED Hd 1920/1080 finished on FCP 6. I made a QT and then used compressor to make a 800mbps Quicktime for the web, deinterlaced and checked BETTER tab, others stayed with regular.
I also made one through FCP into a QT in 640/480 which is size I need.
On the web it looks clear and plays fine. Problem is when there is motion or
lots of movement, it stops and goes, jitters like ****, not smooth all.
What settings are best to make it SMOOOTH, just like when watching it on computer or as best. I know you got much bigger things to talk about but if you know please let me know.
H.264, Mpeg4 or Sorenson ect...just looking for smooth as can get it for playing on web.

The compression is reducing the number of pixels being shown in order to maintain the bitrate. So rapid motion, which requires nearly all of the pixels to be redrawn, causes things to stutter.
Compression is really, really hard to do. Really.

As far as a plugin is concerned, I guess we are asking since we have never seen this aspect. Trying to narrow down just what software and system you have and what you are doing at the time all relate to us trying to understand what is going on. At this point, I don't think any of us have a clue what you were doing when you got the message and thus we have no way of trying to either repeat it or guess the problem. -
I have MS Visual Studio Express 2013 It has worked fine for many months and then suddenly (I have made no configuration changes or added new programs) when I try to publish I am getting the message:
Unable to create the Web site 'ftp://ftp.xx.xx/xxx.org.uk/www/htdocs'. The components for communicating with FTP servers are not installed.
(I have replaced actual name with x's).
I had a similar problem some months ago and found that saving all files, closing VS 2013 and re-starting the program fixed the problem. This time it has not.
I am at a loss to know how to take this forwards. I do not use IIS.

For web site development, so you use the VS2013 express for web, am I right? We have to make sure that it is not the VS version issue.
As you said that it worked well before, did you install other add-ins or tools in your VS IDE like
Xamarin or others?
Maybe you could disable or remove all add-ins in your VS IDE, test it again.
please also install the VS2013 update 4 in your side.

Best Practice for Securing Web Services in the BPEL Workflow
What is the best practice for securing web services which are part of a larger service (a business process) and are defined through BPEL?
They are all deployed on the same oracle application server.
Defining agent for each?
Gateway for all?
BPEL security extension?
The top level service that is defined as business process is secure itself through OWSM and username and passwords, but what is the best practice for security establishment for each low level services?

FarbodIt doesnt matter whether the service is invoked as part of your larger process or not, if it is performing any business critical operation then it should be secured.
The idea of SOA / designing services is to have the services available so that it can be orchestrated as part of any other business process.
Today you may have secured your parent services and tomorrow you could come up with a new service which may use one of the existing lower level services.
If all the services are in one Application server you can make the configuration/development environment lot easier by securing them using the Gateway.
Typical probelm with any gateway architecture is that the service is available without any security enforcement when accessed directly.
You can enforce rules at your network layer to allow access to the App server only from Gateway.
When you have the liberty to use OWSM or any other WS-Security products, i would stay away from any extensions. Two things to consider
The next BPEL developer in your project may not be aware of Security extensions
Centralizing Security enforcement will make your development and security operations as loosely coupled and addresses scalability.

I am running 10.6.8 and using iweb for my web site. After several SEO analysis they all indicate I need H1-6 header tags. After looking at the source code I see there are none in iweb. Are they necessary to add? Why would one add these tags and how do I add H Tags to iweb? And are there examples to look at? I am slowly learning about simple web design and assumed that iweb was stand alone without having to write code. Is this one of the reasons iweb is no longer supported? Thanks for looking at this!

I would guess that the use of h1-h6 tags helps search engines to understand the structure of a page as the tags imply a certain structure.
This can be compared to more generic tags like <div> that could represent any kind of content - and may be what iWeb uses (you'll have to check yourself).
I would generally recommend that you use some kind of up to date blog/site building tool, perhaps Wordpress or Squarespace (I haven't used either one myself) that support current web technologies - this should reduce your SEO issues and make it easier to properly support mobile/tablet users. -
I've had issues with Facebook not loading certain areas of the web-site correctly or fully since Feb. 22. When I first go onto Facebook I am on the home page "news feed". Thing is when I click on the tab at the bottom of the news feed that says "see more", nothing is happening. It refuses to open the feed up to older posts which friends or myself have posted. Only about 6 - 8 posts at the max show on that home feed. That's it.
My other issue, also in Facebook is when I go to access my "messages". First click on the tab "messages" brings up a white page. Then if I refresh the page to see if it will load, the messages page loads very weird. It shows the last message I may have replied to at the bottom of the screen, but over lapping on top of the list of previous messages to the left of the page. Plus the page appears extremely different than it should. Just like it's been re-formatted or whatever.
Since these 2 issues started on Saturday afternoon I've switched over to the Safari browser on my iMac. On that browser Facebook is performing properly, as it should be. It's not overlapping messages. Plus the home feed isn't refusing to extend for me so that I may view older stories or posts by friends. All appears fine while accessing Facebook on the Safari browser. Not so while on Firefox. I am running the most up to date version of Firefox. "27.0.1" Plus I have a habit to clear the browser's history daily & restarting the browser as well as my iMac. So I do not believe those are my problems. I feel there may be something you guys there at Firefox should look into on this.

I followed the instructions on the Web site to uninstall Photo shop elements 12 in windows 8.1 and when I did as it said there was no box to tick for deactivation so I carried on.. Can I just go ahead and install on another computer ?

This error is generated when there was no web page with the name you specified at the web site.-
Troubleshooting suggestions:
Ensure the page you are linking to exists in the correct folder.
Check your file name for case sensitivity . Index.htm is not the same as index.htm!
Temporarily disable any rewrite rules by renaming your .htaccess file if it exists
is the problem with
iweb or with hosting?
One Apple tech started to fix Iweb and had to end session and the next said problem with hosting at Network Solutions as it published
to local folder. NWS has checked sttting a few times-
Any help would be extremely appreciated as trying to fix this for about five weeks

Best way to save HQ video for the web?
What´s the best settings for great video-quality for the web?
I have a 5 min long clip I´d like to put on my website.
I would like it to be 480x360 and with good quality. It´s ok if the file gets 30-40 MB.
I have tryed the Expert Settings, Quicktime Movie, Broadband - High, but the movie gets "striped".
What´s wrong?

I'm not sure what you are doing to create this problem. I create web movies all the time and have never had this problem, although, I never use the advanced settings cos I have never had to. When you go to the Quicktime export pane in iMovie you have the quality choices from full quality to web. When you select one of these it gives an estimate of the file size. For that length clip you should not need to use any setting besides full quality. I'd say the problem is coming from the 480x360 aspect ratio. This is what is compressing the file. Have you tried exporting it as full quality and then uploading it? The only problem you face by doing this is, it will take a long time for the movie to load on your website. For a short clip you may find that the CD ROM setting is sufficient.

I need to know the best way to encode a quicktime clip for the web.
This was my first try:

It works fine in safari, firefox, and ie for mac, provided they have quicktime 6 or later but it seems not to work on pc browsers. The file is encoded as an .mp4 using compressor and played with the browser's quicktime plugin. I've read that encoding files as a .mov provides greater compatibility but when i compress it as a .mov using the mpeg4 codec the file sizes are huge and when i use the photo-jpeg codec the quality is poor. h.264 looks great and has low file sizes but then my viewers have to have quicktime 7 which i think is too limiting because many will have older computers.
How should I encode my file such that it works best across browsers and platforms and has the highest quality at the lowest size?

KeeganIf you open an .mp4 file in quicktime pro you can then select File->Save-As and you are presented with two options:
Save as self-contained: This will create a .mov that is the same size as your .mp4 but is playable on any system w/ QuickTime 6 and the Mpeg-4 codec. (PC's included).
Save as reference: This will create a small (>500kb) file that will simply reference the .mp4. If they're in the same folder the .mov created will open the .mp4. Without the .mp4 the .mov in this case is useless.
For what you're trying to do I suggest going with self-contained. -
