Best current ideas for wireless AIO printer for MBP? Prefer not HP or Canon(my MX 850's bad match)*

Would appreciate best current ideas for wireless AIO printer to pair with MBP (bought late 2011). Prefer not HP or Canon.  Got my MX 850 to print -- with lots of work -- but would not scan.  Tried to fix that, now won't print or scan. Time to move forward, leaving Canon along with Dell notebook in recycle bin.  Thanks for any suggestions.

The Epson Mobilelink P60 series and the Star Micronics T300 will work over wi-fi, but not being AirPrinter printers you'll have to find a third-party printing app that will work with them. The Epson P60 now also supports printing via Bluetooth, according to Epson:

Perhaps one of those would work for you.

  • How do I make my HP P2055dn printer into a wireless network printer for 5 computers

How do I make my HP P2055dn printer into a wireless network printer for 5 computers? Windows versions on computers used are  XP,Vista & 7.
    Thanks

Unplug the USB cable from the printer.  Plug your printer into your wireless router with an Ethernet cable.
Next, on each computer, get the latest software for your printer from the "Support & Drivers" link at the top of this page.  Install it and select "Network" installation when it asks.

  • I'd like to buy an all-one print, scan, fax wireless laser printer for my Mac.  Any suggestions?

Any suggestions for a laser all-one, wireless, print, scan, fax printer for my Mac Air?
    Suggestions gratefully accepted.

Yes printers (their drivers mostly) can become obsolete. Laser printers are so inexpensive I would lean that direction (often new ink cost more than a new printer). That being said when you combine functions you make sacrifices. A laser printer/fax would be, in my opinion, the way to go. If you need a scanner I would make it separate.
I have had good luck with HP - the school district I worked for also used (standardized) to HP. At times Epson has worked well with Mac's - and then there are other times. I think as long as you stay with a top tier brand (look at what Apple is bundling with their new sales) you'll be all right.
Of course you budget, the number of times you expect to scan, fax and print should drive the decision.
I have a ~$100 Brother Laser Printer networked through my Mac Pro (it prints wirelessly) and has done so for going on 10 years. I have an HP Photosmart 6800 about the same age. As you can tell I'm not a fan of AIO's.

  • What types of files do HP printers natively support for wireless/bluetooth printing?

I've been trying to find this information, but digging it out of the HP Support Pages is daunting...
What are all the file types that HP wireless-enabled printers can support, without having to have some sort of driver/rip?  Since you can stick media cards directly into many printers, the printing driver/support must reside in the printer itself, so I'm assuming that simply transferring files to an HP wireless-enabled printer will cause them to print, ala the HP iPrint iPhone app.  But, other than the native iPhone image format, what is the full list of types of images/files that can be printed directly to the printers?
    Thanks,
    Mark

    Great question, Mark!
We support several formats in our printers.  *Note, depending on the model, some formats may not be supported.  If you want a model that supports ALL formats mentioned look for a PhotoSmart Premium branded model like our new line in hpshopping.com with Bluetooth and Wireless Networking capability.
    Now for the formats:
    For iPhone:
    -Graphics Interchange Format (*.gif)
    -JPEG File Interchange Format (*.jpg)
    -Portable Network Graphics (*.png)
    -Device Independent Bitmap (*.bmp)
    -Tag Image File Format (*.tif)
    -Windows Metafile (*.wmf)
    -Enhanced Metafile (*.emf)
      For Sybian OS models:
    Graphics Interchange Format (*.gif)
    -JPEG File Interchange Format (*.jpg)
    -Portable Network Graphics (*.png)
    -Device Independent Bitmap (*.bmp)
    -Windows Metafile (*.wmf)
The above formats would be used when printing over wireless (wireless N, G, A - depending on radios in phone and access point)
For printing via Bluetooth, and UPnP/DLNA we use an xhtml-print standard to support the following:
    Image Format:
-JPEG File Interchange Format (*.jpg) -Portable Network Graphics (*.png)
    Document formats:
     XHTML-Print.
    Standard Text

  • Unable to use RAS SDK for server-side printing for XI 3.1

    Hi all,
I am using RAS SDK for server-side printing.  Here are my codes:

    rcd.getPrintOutputController().printReport(printOptions);
When I run the report, I got the following errors:
    com.crystaldecisions.sdk.occa.report.lib.ReportSDKPrinterException: com.businessobjects.crystalreports.printer.bean.ReportPrinter---- Error code:-2147215357 Error code name:internal
I consult the Diamond Technical Community and I found the issue related to printer name:
    https://boc.sdn.sap.com/node/498
However, I did check the printer name, it is accessible via Windows Explorer.
Anyone knows how to resolve this?
    Regards,

It doesn't appear to be listed as a dependency in the developer docs, but would you try putting the ReportPrinter.jar in your RAS app?

  • Looking for a mobile printer for my car/ on the road work for my IPAD2

Looking for a printer I can use in my car and where ever necessary.

I've been happily printing for a while from my iPad to my battery-operated HP H470 with absolutely no wires (and no router / pre-existing WiFi connection - it operates in AdHoc mode). Literally just the iPad and the H470 - in fact, one time in a marquee in the middle of a muddy field with no power and a long way from the nearest WiFi connection, so it can be done from literally anywhere.
Once I'd sorted it all out, I wrote down the solution and the steps to get it to work in the hope of helping others:

    Hope that's useful to someone!

  • Any recommendations for buying a printer for my Mac Book Pro

Looking to buy a printer for my Mac Book Pro!! Any recommendations???

Any will work. "AirPrint" compatible printers will work even better, since they require no setup whatsoever, and will even work with iOS devices  (and with some compatible android/windows phones) you might end up buying.

  • I need to find my WPA passphrase for wireless HP printer.

Hi. Hope you're having a good Sunday. I've got me a brand new HP Photosmart Premium. In order to set it up wirelessly it requires a WPA passphrase. Looking around I have found only "WPA2 personal". The HP didn't like that or my general computer password. Where do I find or how do I create this WPA passphrase. Thanks for any help! Lizz

yeah but if you use 'show equivalent password' using the windows client, it will
not allow you to copy any of that into the clipboard. you can only copy to the clipboard with the mac version! copyinng it into a temporary file, a "windows connect now" flash drive, or simply pasting it from the clipboard into the printers webpage will save you the hassle of having to actually type it in.
especially if you like me and you have a random passphrase
the mac version of airport utility has its own password maker (up to 31 characters), but the windows version does not, heh
do you have any windows computers or bootcamp that has ever connected to your airport? save the wireless configuration to a usb stick, stick the usb stick in the printer. it shouldnt automatically import (my hp printer reads "windows connect now" usb drives)
the passphrase your computer uses to connect is also stored in your keychain..
if you do not have a windows machine you can connect wired to the printer, and if the printer is of recent vintage, it will have its own embedded web server. its a simple as copying the passphrase from "show equivelent network password" and pasting it into the printer's embedded web server.
were trying to avoid having to reinstall the printer drivers (on a windows machine) or sitting in front of the control panel and manually typing in 63 characters at most.
a screwy thing with hp printers and windows is if i change the numeric ip address of my printer, my macs will find it, but all my windows machines require the printer drivers to be reinstalled from the hp cd-rom

  • The best way to connect wireless and wired for a WRT160N.

It took me about 4 hours to find out how to connect wireless and wired to a network using model WRT160N.  Here is what I have done.  First install the CD when it says there is not connection connect your PC, Modem and router Andy any wireless are wired products, after that do what the linksys advisor tells your which is default.  When it gives you the security key write it down because you will need it for your wireless and wired Products.  Under security mode  type your SDD name and where key 1 is type your security password with was given to you.   Remember all you wireless products have to have the same SDD Like Linsys and all your wired products have to have a different name like Linsys2 but your Key 1 numbers has to stay the same.  That is all you have to do.  Remember that wireless and wired has to be in sequence.  That should do it.

    Hi David Hamilton1;
I guess that all depends on how critical your data is in relation to how much time you want to spend doing the erasure. Those higher level erasure options can take a significant amount of time to complete. Personally I don't have anything on my Mac that I think is worth more time then a simple erasure even if that does leave it some what recoverable. To me it seems some people are going overboard on this issue.

  • Best network (4-in-1) laser printer for Mac??

    Hi Girls & Guys,
I'm looking for a reliable laser network printer (fax/copy/scan/print) suitable for Mac, for small business - 2 iMac's Snow leopard.
I had problems in the past, especially with regards to scanning through a network HP printer to my iMac's.
Anybody have some suggestions? Brands & Models...
I've heard Brother, Epson & Canon are most suitable for Macintosh.
    THANKS!!

If I were you, I'd go shopping at MacMall - they have a number of printers that they sell and will let you know if they are Mac-compatible.
This one looks nice - and supports AirPrint.
I do a lot of shopping there, for everything from hard drives to Apple products. Have always received top-notch service.

  • What is the best way to do hi-res printing for iCal?

I am trying to figure out a way to print some iCal calendars in a hi-res format that can be imported as a PDF or TIF into a (ugh) MS Publisher 07 document. When I use the straight 10.6.2 print to PDF format, it loses resolution. Any suggestions on how to do this? Is there a better font to use, and if so, how do I change the font?

I'm now using BusyCal, which is way better.
