Best driver for T61p atheros wireless a/b/g card?

Hey guys I was wondering what model the card was and what the best driver was or which driver had the most tweaking options? The driver works fine on Win7 x64 but I've got other laptops that have way better range. Thanks

Supported cards with corresponding part numbers can be found in Chapter 3. Removal and replacement procedures can be found in Chapter 4. It is a relatively easy procedure--the most difficult part is attaching the tiny antenna leads to the card connectors--and it isn't that difficult. If I can do it, you can do it.

Since your notebook specs state you have an Intel processor/chipset, you are in luck that you can install the
Intel Centrino Advanced-N 6230 Part # 631956-001 WLAN card.

Now, this is very important...You MUST get the Intel Centrino Advanced-N 6230 card WITH the HP part # on it. No exceptions. So, do your search for a vendor (if you don't want to get it from HP) by the part number.
If you do not follow the above guidance and buy just any old centrino 6230, your computer will not boot until you remove the unsupported card.
Wireless cards have to be tested and validated with the antenna system in the notebook in order to comply with the wireless communication regulations established for many countries--in the USA, the FCC for example.
HP ensures compliance with these regulations by locking out any wireless cards that were not tested and validated to work with the antenna system installed in the notebook. Needless to say, HP is only going to test a few cards for each model notebook.

Tried again, failed. Contacted HP, they graciously sent out recovery disks for free. Only they sent recovery disks for Windows 8.1, so I contacted HP again and they graciously sent recovery disks for Windows 7. Recovery disks would work almost all the way through the Windows installation, giving 3 errors and allowing an install log to be copied. The errors were "chkErrBB.CMD Detect some error during PININST_BBV.", "check c:\system.sav\logs\BurnBootWarn.log.", and "check c:\system.sav\logs\BurnBootMerg.log." Scanning the hardrive showed that the 4 partitions HP factory installs were installed, but the Windows folders were shell folders. HP support had contacted me and suggested I send the laptop in and pay them to install the restore, and I instead purchased Windows 7 Ultimate for a clean install. Using HP support driver tools, it reports the wrong notebook and suggest drivers for a WLAN radio that I do not have installed on the motherboard. I updated the BIOS to F.34 and that did not help. I don't know how to extract the driver from the HP driver and utilities recovery disk HP sent me, it is in a file format I do not know how to manipulate. I can connect to the internet using the ethernet cable, just not the WLAN.

Hello all, I apologize if this is a repeat of a previous topic;
I own a GX 630, and have had it for about a year, or more, now. I understand it isn't top of the line gaming, but I expect a certain amount of performance out of it.
Recently I've been having trouble with WoW and the game seems to run fine until the video card gets exceptionally loud for about 5-10 seconds, then performance drops to under 10 fps. The laptop seems to experience abnormal heating issues as well.
Before this happened I had been playing around with different drivers to see, pound for pound, what was the best driver for the laptop in terms of monitoring heat and giving suitable performance.
In short, which is the best driver out there, in your experience, for the GX630 32 bit?

I am sorry to hear that you are unable to install successfully on your Windows 8.1 with your Officejet 4500 Wireless. I can see that the installation quits on you, giving you an error message. I am going to recommend trying a couple of things to hopefully make the installation successful.
1. First of all, try installing by using The Printer Install Wizard for Windows which finds the correct driver for your unit and installs it.
2. If that does not work, please try this next troubleshooting document step by step.

Help: XP driver for 3000 G410 wireless adapter

Hi All,
My recently bought g410 came with Vistra (only) drivers CD, while I'm installing winXP instead. I downloaded drivers from Lenovo website and everything worked except the winXP driver for "wireless network adapter" (all 3 of them: Gemtek, 3xxx, & 4xxx), the adapter was simply not recognized.
When I look at g410 spec, it says something like "Wireless Network Type: InviLink 802.11BG", does it mean that it is another type of wireless network driver those available on Lenovo's site? If so, where can I get this driver? Can someone help, please?

Have tried to install the vista driver for Gemtek, and YES, the wireless thing is working now! Thanks for the feedback.
I notice that in the device manager, the device reads something like"Broadcom 802.11g" while from the specification, the wireless adapter should be 802.11bg (the letter "b" is missing from the description). I don't notice any performance issue though, however, would like to know if you have the same description as well?

Best Drive For "Disk Cache"

Hello Everyone.
By default, the After Effects Disk Cache is located somewhere in the "C Drive", Temp Folder.
Since all the applications are Installed In the "C Drive", Therefore, Is It better to use another Hard Drive for the temp folder or just leave It alone ?
Both my "C Drive", and my Other drive each have a 400 GB of Empty Space.
My Drives are not SSD Drive, just a regular Hard Drives.

Cache should be on a the fastest drive on your system that has a fair amount of free space. Simple as that. If your fastest drive is the same drive that contains the OS and there is a bunch of free space then that may be the best option. If you have other drives on your system that are as fast, then pick one of them. It's as simple as that. Cache needs room and speed before it needs to be on a separate drive.

Is there any one know the Driver for Lion and SL for Airlink wireless AWLL6070 USB adapter. Airlink web site does not show any Mac driver support. I use this adapter in window and it works fine. I want to use it on Mac too.

just like you mentioned, the driver did not work. I force my lion boot into 32-bit mode but it didn't work as well. I look at the /var/log/install

I download and install 10.6 version of driver on Lion. well, it seems to work now.
I forced my system to boot into 32-bit because one of the driver did not work in 64-bit mode.
I will give it a try to boot into 64-bit mode to see if it work.

I have a USB Wireless LAN Adapter for my desktop so I can share the network at home with others，but I found that I can only use my USB Wireless LAN Adapter in install environment. The driver for USB Wireless LAN Adapter just disappear after installation，the operating system could only identify the device but could not drive it.
Are there some packages not install for this problem or some configuration of the system is wrong?

have you searched the forums? There are a bunch of threads on the ath9k module not working correctly with the latest kernel.
That's why it works in the live cd environment but stops working once you update and login to your actual installation.

Can time capsule also function as a second drive for my computer wirelessly?

Can I use my time capsule as a second hard drive for my computer if I am running out of space on my current drive? For example - could I have my iphoto library reside on the time capsule and be mapped directly when I log into iphoto?

Definitely not recommended. Simply stated, I would never do this.
Access to the Time Capsule drive is slow, and if there are any errors when iPhoto is writing to the Time Capsule drive, the entire iPhoto library can easily become corrupted.
This assumes that you are connecting the Time Capsule to your Mac using a wired Ethernet connection. The potential for problems would be greatly magnified if the Mac was using wireless.
Another point to consider....the only copy of the iPhoto library that you have will be on the Time Capsule. When....not if...the Time Capsule has a problem, you will lose the iPhoto library unless you have a backup on another drive.
The correct way to do what you want is add an exernal drive and connect it directly to the Mac using USB or better yet, Firewire. Move the iPhoto library over to the external drive.
Then....the Time Capsule will backup both your Mac and the external hard drive. In case something goes wrong with the external drive, or the Time Capsule, you still have a backup copy of the iPhoto library.
For confirmation of all of this, please post in the iPhoto support forum.
