Best DVD/CD printing system

What is the best DVD/CD printing system out there? I dont want labels but to print directly on the disks. Lightscribe doesn't have enough color.
Thanks

I also use Primera, (Bravo Pro) printer, prints directly on to the disk surface. The printer uses a disk lift/transport arm that picks up disks to be printed, moves them to the print tray and then deposits the finished disk in the finish tray. It can hold 50 disk at a time before you have to reload it.
Prints in full color and covers the surface all the way to the center, (fully adjustable margins.)
The print driver supports the Mac.
It uses discus print software, to allow creation of text and graphics layout prior to printing, as well as saving project layouts to file.
I print thousands of disk each year and it works well.
You will have to use ink that is specifically designed for the printer, no third party source, (due to a barcode that is read by the printer, on the bottom of every ink cartridge. Ink cost about $30.00 per cartridge, (1 black and 1 color.)

  • Best practices for printing on a DVD?

    I have Taiyo Yuden printable white (inkjet) DVDs and an Epson R280 - getting ready to try printing on the DVDs and was wondering any best practices?
    - Print on the DVD before burning or after?
    - Should I use the Epson software or is there an outside program that is better?
    - Any other tips?
    Thanks!

    Hi Deborah -
    Welcome! As Eric says above, never put labels on your DVDs. In many cases, the adhesive can eventually cause problems and irrevocably damage the disc.
    So, going with "labeling" as in putting information on the disc about what it contains, these days, a regular consumer can actually just use an inkjet printer that offers the ability (usually a special tray). I have an Epson Stylus Photo R280 (and there are other Epson models), there are several HPs and a few Canons. My printer was actually free with a digital camera from Circuit City but would have retailed for $149 at the time, so they aren't really all that expensive. Just search for printers with that function and you'll find all your choices.
    Then you want to buy inkjet-printable DVDs or CDs and you're off (and there are a bunch of options there - I found it easier to order online to get a good quality, long-lasting DVD that is inkjet printable - the supplies at the local office stores were not good)! Usually your printer comes with software to do the design/print but then Old Toad has a great recommendation above.
    I'm printing with a new "watershield" DVD from Taiyo Yuden (which is known for it's quality and are long-lasting, up to 75 years, not that we'll be on DVD players then!) which makes an inkjet print "unsmudgeable." There are a few other brands like that or some people use a spray on them because the downside to inkjet is that it can smudge if you touch with moist fingers or if anything wet touches it. Water shield DVDs are magical, I've found - makes a glossy print (even though inkjet) and locks in the design so it's smudgeproof. Still they are more expensive than others. I'd probably search around the forum here or other forums on DVDs and CDs if you want to look into them more.
    Good luck!
    Alexa
    p.s. I was told that if you absolutely can't print on them, then to use a thin Sharpie with minimal writing on the DVD. I think some stores sell "DVD safe" pens but I've never been convinced that they are anything but a sharpie at a premium price - maybe someone else on here will know.

  • Reset Printing System does not exist on my computer!!!

    I have been trying to get my HP PSC 2175 to print and working with HP support to do this. It just prints out blank pages. The last thing they sent me was to Reset the printing system using the Printer Setup Utility. And they sent me to the below link:
    http://docs.info.apple.com/article.html?artnum=301185
    For whatever reason, the "Reset Printing System" DOES NOT EXIST on my computer. I actually sent screen captures to show them. The first showed my
    version of the Printer Setup Utility (3.0) and the second showed the
    Printer Setup Utility menu - with no such option. I am running OS 10.4.4 and have all of the updates. I even opened the Printer Setup Utility holding down the "option" key.
    Does anyone know how to reclaim this feature???
    thanks
    eric

    After all of the emails back and forth with HP, I have really only done two things: A complete manual uninstall - which is a royal pain in the butt. That is worse than any uninstall with windows, and way worse than Class MacOS. Then they kept trying to get me to Reset the Printing system - which is what I can't do.
    I upgraded to Tiger via a DVD - straight from the box. I had 10.3.x, bought Tiger and upgraded. I have since updated it via the website. I think what I just installed was the combo updater - but I don't think it really did anything as I had already done that.
    If there is a better way to go, please let me know. I searched all over Apple's site for just that piece of the printing system, but unlike the old OS, there doesn't seem to be a way to download those components.

  • IP4500 DVD Top Printing - Colours WRONG - Driver Issue or what?

    OS10.5.5 QT 7.5.5
    I have a Canon IP4500, it worked well for some time printing DVD TOPS. I used Verbatim inkjet printble matte, (& sometimes gloss), white tops, the results have always been excellent. I use DISCUS to design and print my tops.
    The printer was idle for a number of weeks when I ran out of ink, and had to wait for replacements.
    Since then; when printing DVD tops the colours have been wrong, "red shifted". Dark blue ("Blueberry") prints as "lilac". Green grass printed with a "straw" colour. And apart from NOT looking as CRISP as they have in the past, and the colours being off, the tops seem OK.
    I have run all the supplied maintainence programmes that come with the IP4500, noozle clean etc.
    I have replaced the ink cartridges with fresh ones.
    It was suggested to be by the people at Discus that I download the latest Canon driver for my IP4500 and install it. I have done this. (ip4500sosx693ej7.dmg). Checking through System Preferences/Print & Fax/Options & Supplies/General - Driver Version is listed as 6.9.3, so I assume it's installed properly.
    I did a test DVD top print after all that and got the same result, Blueberry as Lilac. I then tried printing the DVD top design on a sheet of white A4 and it looked OK, at least the grass was greener.
    So, downloaded and installed lastest driver, (I assume), cleaned the printer noozle and printed a test page which looks fine, which indicates the noozle is clean. Which makes me think the driver didn't install properly. Maybe.
    So can anyone suggest anything else I could try? I'm really at a loss.
    Ta.

    Hello Jay,
    I have never used Discus (I only use Canon's CD-LabelPrint) but reading through your post it does sound like something is amiss with the driver, although the printing okay on plain A4 throws a spanner in the works for that theory.
    Anyway, if you wanted to try removing all the Canon driver files and then installing just the v6.93 driver again, it may prove to be the answer?
    The iP4500 files will be located in HD > Library > Printers > Canon > BJPrinter. You can trash all of these files and run the v6.93 installer again. Note that if you ever need a different Canon driver then you can download it from Canon rather than rely on the Meg's worth of outdated printer drivers in this folder...

  • What is the best and easiest print app for the iPad and iPhone?

    What is the best and easiest print app for the iPad?

    Richard-
    The best and easiest is to use the iPad's built-in AirPrint system with an AirPrint-capable printer.  <iOS: AirPrint 101>
    If you do not have an AirPrint-capable printer, all printing Apps are a compromise.  I have an HP non-AirPrint printer connected to my WiFi router.  The free HP App, ePrint Home & Biz works OK with photos.
    Print n Share and PrintCentral each have their own browser, mail, text and photo programs that work well with the printer, but they can only be accessed from within other programs that have the "Open In" option.  (So far, I think GoodReader is the only App I have with that option.)
    You can run a program like Printopia or FingerPrint on your computer that will share its printer as AirPrint over WiFi.  They both are reported to work well.  However your computer must be on and awake any time you want to print.  <Printopia for Macintosh>  <FingerPrint for PC and Mac>

  • What ate the best Cartridges for printing Photos in a office jet 5610 all in one?

    I have a Officejet 5610 all in one and I am having trouble printing photos. I am using the Tricolor Cartridge and the Photo cartridge with new HP paper and the photos look terrible. What am I doing wrong?

    Please provide some details of the problem - do you see banding, improper colors or ???  What program are you printing from?  What operating system?
    I would start by checking the print settings.  Select "Best" for the print quality and select the proper photo paper type.

  • Best way for printing

    Hi,
       I have developed a card designer tool having features of adding text and image on card with many effects(sepia, negative etc..) , But when I print the quality of printed card is not good, I used ImageSnapshot class to print and used dpi 300.
           What should I do for best printing quality? Kindly suggest the best way.

    ...I am wondering which is the best option to make
    JPEGs for an external printing service.
    JPEG is a lossy format, meaning some image data is lost with every save to JPEG format. That means that best files for print submission should be non-lossy TIFF or PSD files when possible (e.g. when you are delivering files on CD/DVD).
    That said, prints of well shot images from files saved once as JPEG-12 quality are indistinguishable from prints of the same files saved to TIFF.
    As you go down the JPEG quality scale from 12 to 1 quality gets progressively worse.

  • Best DVD Software

    Can anyone tell me what the best movie to DVD software is out there? I am trying out Fotomagic, I have Imovie 08, 06 on my desktop as well as FCE. Which one will produce the best DVDs with regards to picture.
    Thanks

    The way to go would be to get a software bundle - software that is designed to work amongst the various applications - such as either Final Cut Studio Pro, or the Adobe Suite.
    After having used both programs for many years now (I work in Post Production & actually teach these systems + others) I'd say it is down to personal preference. After using and teaching these, I PERSONALLY prefer Final Cut Studio Pro. It is just a0 beautiful piece of software to use.
    I would not recommend using various individual software components, especially if this is a regular thing for you, as i have found that this is where a lot of the problems will arise - trying to export/transfer your projects from one to another. It has caused me heartache in the past. It is so much better to get a software bundle that is designed to work together! TRUST ME!
    And for what it's worth, after having to use both Mac and PC for the past many years (scary to think!) I would say that Mac is so UNBELIEVABLY BETTER, easier to use, smoother, and so incredibly hassle free when compared with its PC rivals!
    Keep us posted with what you decide

  • Best Ink Jet Printer

    What would be the best ink jet printer to hook to a airport extreme router with both Mac's and Pc's hooked to it.
    No need for high end printing mostly black & white word documents and a few colour pages for school projects.

    The best one "for what?".
    According to your post, if you're looking to print mostly B&W and some color, basically, any modern printer will do.
    One point that you've to check carefully is the cost of the replacement ink cartridges.
    The very cheap printers (+/- US$ 60.00) usually use one cartridge for the 3 colors (Red,Green and Blue) and one for the Black, and replacement of these cartridges cost almost the price of a new printer.
    The ones over US$ 100.00 have separate cartridges for each color, so, when you run out of one color you'll have to replace ONLY that color, which can amount for a lot of savings.
    If you also would like to print labels directly to the surface of the blank CD's and DVD's, then I would recommend an Epson (there're various models that'll do this).

  • What's the best way to print content of javax Object (JTable for example)?

    Hi there,
    1) I would like to know the best way to print content of jtable (for example)
    2) I would like to know how can I Print content of SQL statment (for example "SELECT ID, NAME FROM COMPANY")?
    Best Regard,
    Eyal
    [email protected]

    Depends on what you want printed. You can do something like System.out.println(myTable);but you may not like what you see. If you want to print anything else, extend JTable and create a new toString() method that prints out what you want.
    As for printing a SQL statement - assuming it is in a String, you can just do System.out.println(mySQLStatement);

  • "no printer selected" unless i reset printing system

    My printer is never recognized unless i go into the printer setup utility and click on "reset printing system" Then i wait for the utilty to find my printer and i can print. Everytime i shut off my computer, i have to reset the printing system in order to use the printer.
    Does anyone know the solution to this problem?

    1 back up your stuff to an external drive if at all possible. Use something like Carbon Copy Cloner or SuperDuper!.
    2 get out the system CD or DVD which came with your system, or the retail copy of OS X which you bought separately if you upgraded your system software with a newer version of the OS.
    3 boot from the CD or DVD noted above by inserting it into the optical drive and restarting holding down the 'C' key.
    4 select 'Install' from the options at startup. The system will tell you that you need to change some options to do an install. Tell it yes. You will be presented with a list of options, one of which will be to do an erase install (which will erase your drive and you'll have to move over all your stuff from your backup, you did make a backup, didn't you?) and one of which will be an archival install, which will move your current system files into a folder named Previous Systems and which will install a brand new system. Select archival install.
    5 once the install is complete, restart your Mac on the internal drive, and verify that all is well. You can move items you want to keep from the old system, such as fonts, over to the new system and then toss the Previous System folder into the Trash.

    There is at least one way on each operating system (windows and mac) to rip your own dvds and then transfer them to itunes and finally put them on your ipod. A mac is the easiest of the two ways. If you have a mac, then you download a program off of the web called handbrake (just "google" >handbrake rip dvds< and its homepage should pop up or try <a class="jive-link-external-small" href="http://">http://handbrake.m0k.org). Handbrake allows you to copy and convert your dvds to ipod format. On a windows operating system the most effective way i have found to rip my dvds is quicktime pro($25-$35). You can buy it at quicktime's website. It basically does the same thing as handbrake. I, myself, have simply converted some videos, like sports shows and commercials, to ipod format using itunes and both the video and audio worked fine.
    if you have any ?'s just reply back
    I hope this helps!

  • What is the best 3rd party print API available with rich print capabilities

    Hi
    Our SWING based application is 6 years old and we have been using a third party print API that was available at that time.
    As it is a very old API, all the print features are not available and it provides just a minimal print features. Now we are thinking of migrating to a best available print API.
    What is the best third party print API available with robust print capabilities? OUR COMPANY IS READY TO SPEND SOME BUCKS TO BUY ANY ROBUST THIRD PARTY PRINT API.

    I just put this into my client class (removed the stuff i had that weren't needed):
    import java.io.*;
    import java.util.Scanner;
    public class ListClient
         public static void main (String [] args) throws IOException
             Friend[] friend = new Friend [20];
             List myPals = new List();
             Scanner s = null;
            try {
                s = new Scanner(new BufferedReader(new FileReader("myFriends.dat")));
                while (s.hasNext()) {
                    System.out.println(s.next());
            } finally {
                if (s != null) {
                    s.close();
    }my file (called myFriends.dat, in the same file this program is in) has 3 names listed in a column with their birthdays right next to each and phone numbers right next to the bdays.
    when i right click on the listClient class and "tell it to work", it does nothing... did i do it completely wrong? lol
