Best export from FCP4.5 for conversion to Flash video player?

Hi,
I'm prepping a 5 min edit production for the best web presentation w/o excessive file size / loading time. The production has a lot of subtle detail & layered images so there a lot of opportunities for this to turn to mud (shot on low grade digital consumer video camera & also in lower light settings).
I exported in H264 at med quality & got a good looking 75 meg file. Tried uploading to YouTube, fearing the worst, and it actually created something decent from that file. I could just link that embedded file to the intended website, but I dont want that YouTube logo in the corner. I'd rather recreate what they do in Flash w/o the logo.
Does anyone have info on what YouTube does to the videos it processes into those flash video player files? Compression or resolution settings? It looks like going that route will give better results that can be universally viewed than the standard mpeg route. (file size & universal viewing on all platforms are my only reason not to post in H264).
Are these issues best solved going from a big FCP export and handled with settings in Flash? Or is there some export choice in FCP that will give best (size & res) quailty with minimal influence needed from Flash?
I've tried Compressor but havent been able to get any results from it. I just get errors that I dont understand. If thats the solution, I'll dig into that further, but would appreciate any tips / guidance.
thanks

You could try Sorenson 3 at 640x480. Try a quality setting of about 80 percent.

  • Any examples for loading a Flash video player into a JavaScript layer?

I want to build a web page with a button that when clicked opens up a javascript layer and loads a flash player inside that layer.  And that layer would need a close button.  Does anyone know of any tutorials to help me do this?
    Thanks!

follow thread down to responses by Video Man (aka Adninjastrator) for simple javascript hide/show solution.
That example needed to be launched from Flash.. so you see the big blue button.
but just as well could be launched from HTML. sample page here:
    http://www.hiesequim.com/education_center_test.html
view the source code to see how the overlay and video player are positioned using CSS (#mediaspace2).
There are a number of ways to implement show/hide, so Google more more info.

I'm unable to open vCard exported from MS Outlook for Mac (2011) which adheres all requirements.

vCards exported from Outlook are not compatible with iCloud if that's what you're trying to import it to.  You'll have to do something like create a Gmail account, then export your Outlook contacts to Gmail (see http://office.microsoft.com/en-us/outlook-help/export-outlook-contacts-to-google -gmail-HA001148902.aspx), then export the contacts from Gmail as a vCard (see https://support.google.com/mail/answer/24911?hl=en) and import it to iCloud (see http://support.apple.com/kb/PH3605).

  • Exporting From Final Cut for Dropbox

I have a 2GB Dropbox account that I would like to utilize as a way for my clients to view their projects. Specifically I have a 30:00 program that I need to export from Final Cut to Dropbox. Could someone suggest the best export settings to create a less than 2GB file? Every setting I try always produces a file greater than 2GB. If you could please be specific as possible; do I export using Quicktime or Quicktime conversion? What compression do I use? Etc. Thank you so much.

I don't know...i'd go with the H.264 for iPod video and iPhone preset in Compressor. Oughta squish it down pretty good and still look nice.

  • Best export settings in iMovie for later import to iDVD

    Hello,
I've created a few iMovie projects that I've put on DVD using the Share To iDVD option.
I have a few different projects that I want to put on one DVD. What are the best export settings in iMovie to create files that I can later import using iDVD?
    Cheers

I would sugest using the Apple defaults - which you will get if you use SHARE/Export Movie.
It is possible to infinitely tweak the parameters by using SHARE/EXPORT USING QUICKTIME, but in my experience, you are not likely to visibly improve quality. However, you might be able to get more compression(i.e. a smaller file size) at nearly the same quality.
However, there is no harm in experimenting if you like.
You should use Movie to QuickTime Movie. Click Options. Generally, set the video codec to h.264. If space is not an issue, you can use Apple Intermediate Codec instead, but only if you are going to edit the movie some more. For a final movie, use h.264.
For frame rate, use automatic or 24 frames, but you can use fewer and see if it imporves quality.
For bit rate, you can use up to 20 Mbps, but 16Mbps is the highest I have gone, and that results in a very large file. With h.264, you can get good results with 10 or even lower. (Note: 10 Mbps = 10,000 Kbps)

  • Looking for stand-alone Flash 9 player

Can anyone tell me where I can download the stand-alone Flash
    9 player for Windows?
The only version I can find in the downloads area is the

I want the standalone player so that I can see the console

    error messages.

There is no download of the standalone. The only publicly
    distributed version
    is the browser plugin/player.
Download the authoring tool, Flash CS3 and you will get the
    standalone with it.

  • Quicktime conversion to Flash video

When I drag my Quicktime movies into Adobe Flash CS3 video encoder, I then click to resize the video and enter the specs.  Then I uncheck 'Maintain Aspect Ratio'.  Then I press start queue.  I have been doing this for years but my memory seems to be having a little slippage.  Does this process only send to my desktop the .flv file or should it also send the .swf file?  The reason I'm asking it I'm only getting the .flv file and when I upload this to my server with the intention of putting the Flash video onto a website it asks for the source file which I'm assuming is the .swf file which Flash Encoder is not generating.
If I have forgotten and I'm only meant to have the .flv file, how do we then get that to appear and play as a Flash video?  I have recently changed technical help and this was always done by former staff member.  We need help.  Thank you for your time.
    Sheryl

would changing it to a Quicktime movie be more universal for people to view without having to download a plug-in?
Not sure about the "universality" of QT but believe it is generally found as a "freebie" on most PCs and, of course, on all Macs sold today. Don't use Windows Media since a good player with codec runs about $50 for my Mac but admit to keeping the "Flash" plug-ins installed for all of my browsers. Would have to abide by what David said as my one and only venture into flash conversions produced "less than adequate" quality as far as I was concerned.
As filmtex indicated above, Handbrake would be a suitable solution if you plan to convert the entire DVD (or chapters thereof) without edits directly to either MPEG-4 or H.264 files. Of the two, the MPEG-4 output would likely be more universal for QT since it would not require QT 7 be installed. On the other hand, the H.264 would provide files roughly one third the size of an MPEG-4 file at the same level of quality.
However, if you are planning to edit the material to any degree (i.e., extract highlights, break it into smaller files, enhance audio/video content, etc.), then you might prefer an alternate work flow. For instance, MPEG StreamClip (free) would allow you to load unencrypted or decrypted individual VOBs (or the the entire title) into the application and peform minor edits before ouputting material to any available QT format. Or, if you plan to make major edits in iMovie, FCX, FCP, or other such editor, you can convert the VOBs directly to the appropriate DV format for your particular editor.

  • Looking for a non-Flash mp3 player

Can anyone recommend a non-flash mp3 player?  I've looked around on the web quite a bit but it seems the ones I'm finding all use flash.  I need one that will work on the iPad and iPhone for my websites.
    Thanks!

    Hi
I wonder why not show you how to use Quicktime.
Because I would use the html5 audio, that way the browser chooses the 'player' to use, and I wanted to give the OP the choice -
    <audio controls preload="auto" autobuffer>
      <source src="elvis.mp3" />
      <source src="elvis.ogg" />
<!-- now include flash fall back -->
    </audio>

  • Best high quality format to export from final cut for DVD

What is the best format to export in final cut to put onto a DVD?
Mostly its footage from VHS so it doesnt have to be awesome but need some tips
    cheers

You can't get any better than what your Sequence settings were in FCP. Export a self-contained or reference movie (File->Export->QuickTime Movie) from FCP. Do NOT recompress all frames, but do include DVD-SP markers (if any).
Bring the resulting file into Compressor and choose the appropriate DVD preset. You can duplicate, then modify a preset if needed.
You'll have two files from Compressor: an MPEG-2 video file (.m2v) and a Dolby Digital audio file (.ac3).
Import those two files into DVD-SP for authoring and burning.

  • Best, export slideshow in iMovie, for online viewing

I tried exporting my 5min slideshow in iMovie using this setting:
    go to>share
    export using quicktime
    export as: mpeg4 settings>
    file format: mp4
    video format: h.264
    data rate: 1500 kbits/sec optimized: cd/dvd
    image size: 1280x720
    key frame: 12
    frame rate: 12
    video options>
    restrict profile to: main
    encoding mode: best
    ~
So far, this is good file size for online uploading, and good quality. Good enough. But there are still color issues, like some color blotching, and color transitioning, and the quality of the photos in the imovie when exported is not as good as when I view the slideshow in imovie. It's very important that the quality of the photos remain top quality as this for fine art photography promotion.
If you have any ideas how to export slideshows from imovie, in top quality, please reply. This is for online viewing, to be uploaded in free-hosted sites like youtube, facebook, multiply, etc. I am aware that youtube and facebook have HD options for video viewing. I need someone's help. Thanks.

Yes, I did. Not so good. The settings I mentioned above is actually the best I've tried so far.

  • Export from Premiere Pro for movie at theatre

We have a 1hr 40 minute movie that we plan to show at a local theatre. The theatre says they can show it from DVD or computer. I meet with them this week. The movie is a documentary with just interviews and simple transitions; no special effects (4:3) What are the best settings to export to DVD for the best quality for a large theatre?
I believe the projector will connect to my laptop via VGA to play from the computer. (I'll find out this week)I have concerns with my Audio Out. If I go that route, what is the best file format? I guess AVI. If I ran it directly from Premiere, I worry about stalling issues. Any suggestions? Thanks as always - Art

I meet with them Feb. 4 I may not know about the projector until then. My appologies for lack of knowledge...my source resolution/codec? The final movie is still on the timeline in Premiere CS4 720x480 29.97 D1/DV NTSC 4:3 Microsoft AVI codec DV NTSC. I only use this setting because it works for what I usually need for playback on a TV set. I have never done anything as large as a movie projector - Art

  • Best Export from Final Cut to PE7?

    Hi All,
My client is going to supply me with edited footage from a Final Cut project. What output/file format/specs/etc would best be suited for me to bring it into PE7, based on:
    - My preset is HDV, 1080 x 1440
    - I am using this preset because of HDV footage I shot and will use in the edit
    Thanks, Stan

Let's see if we can break this down.
First do you have FCS 1 or 2?
Second are "sending" to STP or exporting?
If you go to the Browser in FCP and right click the sequence and choose Sent To>Soundtrack Pro Multitrack Project, You will get a dialog box to name and safe the Project file. The checkboxes at the bottom of the dialog should (by default) be all checked and "Base layer" chosen. When you click save STP should open.

  • Ideas on how to export from Oracle (11g) for import into a MSSQL server?

    Hi folks,
Crazy question yes...but I have some devs that are needing to export some schemas/tables from Oracle to somehow import into MSSQL.
Are there any utilities our there, hopefully from Oracle that would allow for this? So far, all I can think of are to generate the DDL from the Oracle instance, and then do some scripts to output the data in a cvs type format....
    Anything better than this?
Any links or suggestions greatly appreciated.
    Thank you in advance,

Senior Oracle DBAThank you for the prompt reply. I'm looking into this and am finding some Oracle documentation, but just off the top of my head, this approach seems to assume the 2 database servers can see or talk to each other.
What if the oracle box is on one network...that cannot connect to the network that the MSSQL box is on. For example..running off some test data from one company to another company with networks that do not cross?Assuming some acceptable export/import utility, how do you plan on getting the file from the source to the target if the two servers are on networks that cannot talk to each other?Well, I'm still trying to gather facts, this is just a question coming in from some developers.
From what it may be, is that the can scp from site to site, but no direct connectivity between the database servers on the sites...isolated, maybe a DMZ...I dunno everything yet.Well, you either have connectivity between the two machines or you don't. Binary decision tree.
    IF  net_connectivity_exists
you can use oracle sqlnet enabled capabilities
         OR
you can transfer an export file via ftp, sftp, scp, etc.
    ELSE
you have to transfer an export file via sneakernet
    END-IF
