Best forum to find a Flash developer?

I will be posting a job opening for a full time Flash developer next week for the Fortune 200 company I work for. I would like to advertise this opening in the most effective forums to receive qualified applications. Any suggestions?

There are certainly lots of good developers in this forum. The terms of use explicitly prohibit advertising goods or services, but I don't see anything about seeking services. Could be wrong about that and expect to draw fire almost immediately if so. I don't think a link to your website or other personal contact info belongs in a message but would be ok in your Public Profile.
If it turns out your notice isn't welcome in this forum, I would suggest one of the many other OS/X developer forums on the web. Just take the time to read some of the threads to assess the level and quality of the advice that's given. Atm I don't know of any boards exclusively devoted to OS/X developer employment, but there must be some, so Google for those too.
Btw, your previous threads got my attention, since Universal Access technology is one of my interest areas (not too long ago I was tasked with making a suite of Windows business apps compatible with JAWS, and learned about some of amazing software available at that time). However the interface you described was beyond anything I'm competent to do on the Mac, so all I could do was hope for your success. I'm especially interested in the research going on into ways to operate a computer directly from brain activity sensors and I'm sure that's going to be the future of the kind of work you want to do.

Best way to find a good app developer?

My company has an idea for an app that we'd like developed for IP4....
Can anyone here steer us in the right direction insofar as how we find a good app developer who will do contract work?

They have forums where you can ask questions, like "I need an App developer...HELP." Someone will point you to someone. Or volunteer.
Also, LinkedIn has an iPad/iPhone developer group. I belong to a medical apps subgroup, and I can tell you there's a lot of "advertising" of skills and such. Moreover, LinkedIn gives you the chance to do some background checking.
With these two groups, you will get the best of the best. Don't google for one. You'll get junk surrounding the few diamonds.

Where Can I find a Flash 8 demo

I have Flash FX 2004/Flash 7. I am working on a demo project
and template which requires Flash 8 or later. Is there somewhere
that I can download a trial version of Flash 8 so that I can try
out the demo template? I have seen the trial versions of the latest
Flash which I plan to purchase but right now all I need is Flash 8.
Also I am on dial-up so I cannot download huge files. I would
appreciate anyones help.

After the release of Flash CS3, Flash 8 trials were no longer
available.
Your best bet is to find a Flash 8 book with accompanying CD
that has a
trial of Flash 8 on it.

Seeking Flash Development "Guru" in New England

Am seeking avenues for finding expert-level Flash developers
in the New England area, especially eastern and central
Massachusetts.
We are now encountering more-than-occasional call for Flash
development expertise, and I'd like to have a short list of
reliable, "Guru"-level Flash developers to call upon for such
projects. Are there any resources either through Adobe or through
other places on the 'net to find such expertise? This would be
Flash at a sophisticated level, as for developing fully interactive
training materials.

What is the best way to create a Flash site

Hello Everyone,
I am realtively new to flash. I created the splash page of
our site in flash but 1st off it takes to long to load as it is.
But I would like to create the entire site in Flash. What is the
best way to create a Flash site, and are there tutorials out there
or any really good books, resources, or online classes to learn
Flash well. I understand the basic of flash and have created
banners, and other flash materials.
Can anyone help?

For me, as a noob, It's all about creative problem solving.
For lots of stuff, there's no right or wrong solution, but you have
to figure things out on your own. I, too, have built sites from the
ground up, and then rebuilt them even better. It's the only way to
really learn it well. Books, online forums, help docs all sort of
help, but it all comes down to how innovative you can be with
integrating them all into a site that is completely yours.
This might save you loads of headaches: avoid using scenes,
unless you are doing only animation. Keep each of your 'pages' on
their own keyframe, and use 'gotoAndStop' to navigate through them.
This is perhaps the easiest way to create a website quickly.

From flash develop into flash builder?

Recently, I'm trying to use flashbuilder as the editor to associate with augmented reality. I'm useing in2ar sdk to compile the ar function. In the official in2ar tutorial they used flash develop as a example. However, when I import the sdk to the flash builder and try to run the example, it just samplely not working. In the console window, it just show [SWF] with the path of Main.swf - 1.285 bytes after decompression. Anyone know what wrong with this? The sdk and example works perfect in flash develop.

Go to the Insert menu in DW and select swf. Find the .swf that you want to use and select it. Save the file and then use the Preview in Browser tool. Alternately, you can use the Publish function in the File menu in Flash to publish an html docuement that you can then open in DW.

Industry standard for alloting Flash Development time

Does anyone the industry standard for the time it takes for
Flash development in general. In other words, How much developement
time does it take to do one minute of flash animation. For example,
with video and motion graphics, it's one hour of editing time to
accomplish one minute of edited video.
Is there a similiar industry standard for Flash development?
Obviously, there are variations in the how robust the
animations are, how interactive they are, and how complicated the
code is...but I'm really just looking for a general rule of thumb
for professional Flash developement..

to belive that a standard does not exist. As a multimedia developer
at a high profile corporation, I have been asked for this
information....and I gurantee that if I have been asked....others
at large companies have been asked also.
can anyone that works in the industry share their own
guidelines based on personal experience? I have my own SWAG for the
amount of time it takes indivdualy for custom animations,
interactivies, and games...but would like to compare that to other
estimates.
Maybe it's better to ask for a Multimedia developemnt
standard instead of a Flash development standard.

I am wondering what forum is best for me, MM logistics is pretty close to my area of knowledge but to much finacial posting questions I was hoping I could get your thoughts.
Me: SAP support 3 yrs now in warehouse dealing with ALL warehouse activity - movements reciepts order processing and so on
Trouble is there seems to be no home for me on SDN, end user forums are not at all interesting to me and I see to many question in MM logistics not related to things I have learned.
So yes I am not a developer, sort of stuck in between right now, not able to move forward until I get access in a proto typing client and getting much resistance for access (boss is afraid I will move to another company if I do dev.)

I have got a problem with flash development

Hallo guys, I am new to flash development, that's why I ask you to help me.
I have got the following problem:
Actually, we want to create service for internal use in our companies in Russian cities. This service must solve following problem: when an employee leaves work, he must have a possibility to login to our web site, turn on his web camera through web interface on this site, so that he would be able to see the picture from his web camera in the player on the site. Than he leaves his workplace and goes home, when he gets home, he must be able to login on the same site, and see, what is happening on the camera. Ideally, we must also provide such function: when nothing changes on the camera, our service realizes, that everything is ok, when someone walks in the camera or something changes on the picture this service must "realize" that somebody is walking in front of the camera and it should alert users via e-mail and send him some letter with a photo of object, which appeared in the camera.I found one site, which allows to do that dompodprismotrom.ru on this site, everything happens through the flash.
I understand that this task should be divided into 4 parts:
1.Getting image from video camera and broadcast it to the player on the site
2. Send and store this video on the server
3.Analyze video (if something changes an alert should be sent)
4.Sending an alert letter with notification to the mail of the user.
Maybe someone of you can tell whether there are any open source solutions for any of these 4 problems?And how can I realize all this functionality?Maybe there are such services in America or Europe?

Private forum for kinect for windows developer preview

Hello all,
I received notification email from Microsoft regarding Kinect for Windows developer preview. In the beginning of the content, it is written:
"Until the program agreement is signed you cannot get access to the pre-release sensor, the SDK and documentation, or the private forum. Please check your junk or span folder. If you still are not able to locate the Docusign agreement please let us
know and we will resend it to you."
After checking my junk folder, I could not find any, so I replied the email asking to resend the document, I got email response suggesting me to use technical support in the private forum for 'Kinect for Windows developer preview'. But if I clicked the link,
I got message "no results were found". I think I still don't have access to the private forum.
I appreciate any suggestion.

Where is the best place to find Widgets?

Obviously there are lots and lots of different widgets out there, some free, most not. Where is the best place to find a good package of them that won't cost me an arm and leg?

However, Adobe just launched a new directory that lists many of the widgets available, no matter who develops them. You can go to MuseWidgets.com to see the directory and search and find one that does what you're looking for.

T440s: Best place to find beta drivers?

Beta drivers are commonly distributed by support staff either on forums on by email - any ideas on the best way to find the latest Win 8.1 T440s Wi-Fi drivers for the Intel AC 7260?
PS - I know Intel has drivers but a/ they're older (?) and b/ I was under the impression manufacturer ones were better for laptops.

There is just as large a collection of plugins for Logic (these come in the AU or Audio Units format) as for Cubase. Anywhere you can buy recording equipment should be selling plugins too. Some free plugins (but not very useful most of the time) can be found on places like www.digitalfishphones.com or www.airwindows.com . The guy that owns AirWindows seems to basically do code copies of plugins. He's got some great free plugins. . . one of which I often use on vocals. he also has some paid plugins that are far cheaper than the competition ($60 vs. $500 for a tape emulation plugin for instance) that are VERY good.
If you're looking to buy plugins, go to www.sweetwater.com . . . or really any large pro audio retailer, but sweetwater's a good place to start. If I knew more of what you were looking for I could help guide you a bit better.
Also, if you have an ilok key you can download demos of many paid plugins and give them a test drive.

Good tutorial book for non-flash developer?

I need to learn flex for our company. I am a .NET developer
although I have used Flex 1.0 before and was doing well with it. I
am by no means a flash developer, so I'm looking for a good
beginner to intermediate book for someone who is looking more at
flex application development rather than design.
I need a book that focuses more on database/XML/webservice
integration and not something that focuses SOLEY on rich GUI's.
Yes, I would like for the book to focus also on design, but not
have that purely be the focus.
What do you all recommend? Thanks!

I found the book Adobe Fex 2 Training from the Source VERY
helpful. I read and did everything and am also finding it useful as
a reference. One reason I liked it is that it takes you through an
appliation step by step refining the application over time as you
"discover" more succinct/efficient ways to do things (e.g. making
components and a more reusable design). It takes you through
multiple ways to get at server stuff too. I also highly recommend
reading the Cairngorm articles posted on Adobe's website to help
you get off on the right foot using good design principles for
Flex.
P.S. I am very much a newbie myself and am still climbing the
learning curve.
