Best Hardshell Case For Drop Protection MBP 13"

Looking for a hardshell case that will protect my computer when it drops (hopefully it won't). But, if it does, I'd like a sturdy case to save the computer.
I've seen a lot of hysteria over which case will scratch the computer the most and other aesthetic issues...I'm fine with a few scratches, to be honest...not fine with dropping my computer and having to buy a new one.
So, any cases out there that will protect the macbook from a fall as well as my wallett?

Well then why ask

I think the best / strongest / hardest cases are the MacTruck
They aren't light but mine's been round the world a few times and kept my MBP safe in some crazy situations (like schools can be)

  • BEST LEATHER CASE FOR THE VISION

whats the best leather case for the vision M, thats not too heavy.

The best case is the one that Creative sells. It is the only one that allows support for the sync adapter. Stay clear of any purchased from ebay or amazon as there are several of them. The two most popular on the Internet which are not manufactured by Creative seem to be available on almost any site. The one with the kickstand and the exposed top should be avoided. Sure it looks practical, but the plastic protecti've window which is stitched to the case is stitched in a way that it is sharp and will certainly scratch your player, especially if you have the black player. The other most popular leather case has a flip cover which is snapped into place at the bottom. This one is ideal and well padded for maximum protection, but beware, the sync adapter will not fit with this case as well. You will have to remove the player for nearly every case I've seen except the one Creative sells on their website. The better of the two types however is perfect if you wish to carry your player outside and only use it for outdoor protection. There is no guarantee however that all cases will have the plastic window stitched properly so beware! The Creative model has no plastic window as it really doesn't need one. Simply buy the Creative screen protectors for this purpose.
So save your money and go with the Creative case. It is specifically designed for the Zen Vision:M.

  • Best Bumper Case For Verizon iPhone?

What is the best bumper case for the VZW iPhone that is,
    1. Pretty thin, doesn't make the iPhone feel that thicker.
    2. Under $35.
    3. Doesn't cover the back.
    4. Has a sort of front or back lip.
    5. Is good looking and is good quality.
It's a lot of stuff but I'd really appreciate it if you could recommend me some bumpers. Thanks.

What you just described is the apple bumper perfectly. Just go get one of those.

  • Hardshell Case for Macbook Pro

Does anybody use hardshell cases such as Techshell or Speck with any keyboard covers? Are there any heat build-up issues? I heard that Macbook Pro vents hot air from keyboard area upward. Are there any problems covering keyboards with protective cover all the time? I'm thinking about getting one of these hardshell cases to protect my MBP from dust, scratches, etc to use along with the keyboard cover which I always leave it on. I'm especially curious about case from Techshell since their hardshell cases don't have vent holes on the bottom... Any comments will help!
    Thanks,

I have the Techshell case with an iSkin keyboard cover. I keep those on the majority of the time (for internet browsing, playing iTunes, word processing, other light tasks) and have no issues with heat. However, it is the middle of winter where I live and ambient temps are about 65*F, so keep this in mind for the following numbers. My processors are currently at 39*C, with fans set at minimum (2000rpm) and the case/keyboard cover on; my computer has been on for about 3 hours.
The processors jump up to around 50-60*C when using Photoshop and other more intensive programs for a decent amount of time, but even then it's still fine. I only take the bottom of the Techshell off when I'm in Bootcamp and planning on playing 3D-intensive games for a few hours, because the shell does slow down the dissipation of heat enough to be noticeable when gaming. I also crank the fans up to around 3500 rpm and put the computer on a stand to give it some airflow around the bottom; CPU stays under 80*C, GPU around 60-70*C, with this setup--compare this to an over 80*C CPU and GPU with fans running at full blast--6000rpm--if I try keeping the bottom shell on while playing games. I keep the keyboard cover on full-time; it doesn't seem to affect much and when I peel it back, the keyboard is usually fairly cool.
I highly recommend the Techshell; it has yet to scratch the aluminum casing even though I often remove the bottom shell (very easy after you get the hang of it). And it has definitely saved the aluminum from a few dents.

  • A nice case for a 15" MBP?

So I am thinking of getting a nice case for my future MacBook Pro. I was looking into getting a Marware CEO Milano.
Of you who own this case: how do you like it, does the leather hold up well under rain, and I am going to need to put a 150 sheet spiral and a notebook along with the possible power adapter in this case so can it fit these items along with the MBP without looking obscenely bloated?
Also, if any of you have any other nice cases that I can sling over my shoulder, that would be great!

    Hi,
I'm using a Brenthaven Metro which offers the best protection I've seen so far (using apple laptops for 8 years now). I especially like the screen protection on BOTH sides and that the MBP is cradled in a way that it cannot move around. This bag is strictly a Laptop and some limited other stuff too.
So for your needs (spiral notebook, notebook, poweradapter, stuff…) the Brenthaven Metro deluxe might be more appropriate. Check it out, its well worth the price with a lifelong guarantee.

After all a MBP is worth a LOT of money too.

  • What is best iPad case for new iPad?

I have a cover that works the on/off but have tried a cygnet cover that doesn't activate the on/off.  I need more protection for travel and wanted a case instead.

A case is a very personal choice, and there are many to choose from.
I have the Executive Leather case from Yoobao.  You can get them here:
    http://kevikev.com/Yoobao-Executive-Leather-Smart-Cover-Case-for-New-Apple-iPad- 3-YBNEWIPADEX.htm
It's made of leather and comes in 6 colors.  The cover works the sleep/wake function, and the case provides substantial protection to all sides of the iPad.  The cover portion can also function as a stand.  It's also thin, so it does not add any additional bulk to the iPad itself.  Highly recommended.

  • Best nano case for thr gym

what in your opinion is one of the better cases for the Nano, for use at the gym? I just got a 4GB black, and I know I'll be taking this thing to the gym with me but I'm afraid the click wheel and button mechanism will get messed up if I just use it with my (sweaty) fingertips. my 20GB is two years old, and I'm starting to think maybe the click wheel started losing responsiveness for the same reason.
any input would be great. thank you.

i would suggest getting a combo of a screen protector like invisishield, or something like it, plus any armband that you like. the screen protector will keep your sweaty fingers from hurting the clickwheel, while still providing the same response as before. i have the black 2gb and i have never had any problems. it also protects from the nasty scratches it WILL get without it.

  • The best iphone case for functionality

Okay, so I just got myself an i Phone 4S and now am looking for a case. After browsing the interwebs for a bit I have begun to notice the pattern of either bulky hard plastic cases designed to protect I'm guessing, or interesting silicone ones more marketed toward 'showing the personality of the user' as types of cases avalible. The thing is while I do want my fancy (i.e. expensive) new phone to be protected, I also want it to stay fairly slim and functional: I do not carry a purse and usually just stick my phone in my pocket: I also often go out dancing and with this upgrade to a fancier phone I now find myself sattled with a larger one. I'm looking for a case that protects but doesn't add too much extera bulk: any suggestions?

I thought these cases were known to cause heat problems in the Iphone....that is what an ATT rep told me some time ago...did Otterbox recently redesign their cases? I am always afraid that a belt clip will snap off in a busy place like an airport...
The AT&T rep is wrong - no problem with overheating. The only problem the Defender case had was an echo when using speakerphone. Otterbox "redesigned" it by removing a filter like material that covered the mic and speaker - no more echo.
I use the belt clip daily - it's secure, but I wouldn't play hockey wearing it. You can always put the phone in a pocket.

  • Best Hard case for Mac Pro 13in?

    whats yalls opinion?

The Spec hardshell case is among the sleekest I could find. I love it. It snaps on and off super easy. But you don't have to worry about it falling off, it is definitely on there! Looks really nice too I like how you can see the apple logo on the top still. If you're on the fence between a few other cases, go with Spec....you will not regret it!

  • Will a hardshell case provide some protection for the display for my 15" Retina MBP?

I am concerned about how fragile the display is. I purchased my MBP w/retina display in August, and about a month ago I got a line through the display. It had never been dropped or hit, whatever - and when I brought it in, they noticed a tiny crack in the display. They said this can occur by simpling applying to much pressure with your thumb and forefinger! Eeks!
Needless to say, I do not want this to happen again. I am obviously going to use more care when handling, but was wondering if a hardcase would help provide some extra protection for the display - or if the rigidity would actually hurt the display upon application. I'm looking at the Speck smartshell now.
    Thanks!

  • Best iPad case for hospital/ER use?

    Hi all,
I'm an ER doc and our department just received new iPads as we move into the electronic medical records age.
I need a strong yet practical (lightweight) iPad case.
We will carry it from patient room to room and use it for documenting histories and charts.
I've read other threads about practical sanitation of iPads but that's not that big of deal since I'd rather just take it out of the case to clean it or just wipe the whole thing in its entirety with our sanitation wipes.
I'm mainly looking for something that can protect against drops, spills/blood/fluids but not weigh like a brick.
Our documentation program is also compatible with a stylus.
Are the hard screen protectors on most cases OK for stylus use in terms of accuracy and details?
Any input and reviews would be greatly appreciated.
    Thanks!

    GummyD and other docs,
My company Alphyn Industries just developed a scrub that holds your iPad for you on your chest with our LEDGE system. It frees both your hands and the iPad is suspended perpendicular to your chest when needed.
To put the iPad away, the pocket flap is simply zipped up. We have not launched is commercially yet, and we are looking for doctors who want to work with us and help us make it mainstream.
We aree also working on a disposable film pack to keep the screen sanitary in the OR.
You can see the LEDGE application in our commercial PADX-1 fleece jacket:

  • What is the best keyboard case for the 15" Macbook Pro Retina?

I currently just bought the new 15" Macbook Pro Retina display to replace my old 2007 Macbook 13" however I am reluctant to use it until I find a keyboard cover.  I have read many forums already and tried the Moshi keyboard cover (which didn't fit well at all) however I still cannot decide which keyboard cover to use.  So far I have found two keyboard covers that look O.K. any help with this problem would be greatly appreciated.
