Best Hosting Service For Email/Website (#spam issues)

I've been using GoDaddy for webhosting and email hosting for a few years.
I've been having spam issues with every site and email I've setup with them. It's apparently a notorious issue with GoDaddy specifically, you can find loads of threads on it all over the net and GoDaddy closes the threads that people start on their own help forums.
I do nothing that could cause spam triggers. I don't send out mass emails, no subscriptions, newsletters, no links, nothing. Its literally nothing but responding to customer inquiries and VERY often they go directly to their spam/junk folders which of course is very very bad.
Can anyone recommend the best hosting service so this does not happen? Or anything I can do to help the situation? I have no problem paying a premium monthly for something that will guarantee (or at least as much as possible) that my mail actually gets delivered.
Is there any hosting service or service in general that is considered the best of the best?

Never heard that there was a specific problem with GoDaddy and spam.
Spam is a fact of life. Getting your mail delivered has nothing to do with spam.
If you use Mail and a POP account fro getting your mail, try something like SpamSieve, this will eliminate about 99% of spam in short order.
Gmail has a fairly good spam filtering for email only. You could change email accounts and not rely on GoDaddys email service, just set it up so it forwards to a gmail account to take advantage of their filtering/

Your site is a CCM site which is on a WebBasics plan (This plan does not provide hosted emails on Business Catalyst).
If you want to create email addresses on this site, you would need to setup your email server elsewhere and configure the MX records on your site to point to that external mail server.
If you want to use Business Catalyst's hosted email services you would need to use a WebBasics+ or higher siteplan. To upgrade your CCM free site, Access your site's admin area -> Site Management -> Upgrade Now -> choose the desired site plan and billing frequency -> Add personal and credit card details -> Submit.

Help, how do i find out the host server for a website i have inherited

hi i inherited responcibilty for a website, simply because
there was noone else avalable. i have dreamweaver cs3, but only
about 2 weeks worth of knowledge and experience. I was given info
ie. ftp address and username etc, so have been able to download the
website to my home computer, and have been making updates, now
however i need to find out more about setting up a test server so i
can use dynamic pages, specifically for collecting form
information, collecting donations and selling art work. i will need
some information from the host server to start with, but am unsure
as how to identify and contact them, can anyone help me please. I
am sure it is rudimentary, but the information is essential.
also as a side note, could anyone tell me how to find out
where the websites domain name is regestered ( other than
contacting the original designer, as that seem quite impossible)
because i get the feeling that if all else fails i may be able to
move the website to another host ( not that i now how yet, or even
how to select or find a host) please let me know if any of my
assumptions are wrong.

Hi,
To find out about the host, go to register.com and look up
the domain name.
When it gives you results, it'll say that the name is already
taken, but it
will let you do a 'whois' on it.
Those results can give you some info such as the server DNS.
That may let
you figure out the host.
Sometimes the technical contact in the whois, is the host as
well.

Relationship btwn Virtual Host Services for Groups AND WorkGroup manager??

Can someone please explain the relationship between Virtual Host Services (as specified in the Sites section of Server Admin) AND "Enable the following services for this group on ... and the options"?
And where does one go to "create wikis on this site" when one is give the authority to do it in Server Admin > Sites > Services for Groups (Allow the following to create wikis on this site)?*
Finally, why do all my groups seem to show up on all my virtual hosts, even though they are only enabled on a particular site?

Thanks Angus, I see that error too.
I understand that Virtual Sites are web-related Apache settings. So, I guess the "Services for Groups" functionality there-in (Sites > Web Services) is just to indicate that this virtual site can have wikis, calendars, blogs etc.
I also understand what a Group is but I am confused as to how they relate to wikis (especially when the config item (Sites > Web Services again) says "allow the following to create wikis (plural) on this site" - my emphasis).
Is it saying that from all the users/groups only the following users/groups can turn on a wiki which will run on this virtual site? For me it sounded like a user/grous could create multiple wikis. So I would like to know if wikis are one-to-one with users/groups?

GW Host/ Service for program SAPSLDAPI on PO 7.31 single-stack

Hi there,
We are running SAP PO 731 on SPS07 and are currently connecting all backend systems as proxys. All is done and all is working fine.
But when i checked my configurations i saw sth., which is not so pretty in our configuration.
In detail: To use proxys, you have defined among others a rfc connection with the name "SAPSLDAPI" (program iD maybe SAPSLDAPI_<SID of PO>). Testing is possible with Tx sldcheck or Tx sldapicust.
On PO java stack, you have to set this JCO in the "JCO RFC-Provider". To start it, you need a GATEWAY HOST/ SERVICE.
In the former pi releases you have a double stack installation with a gateway inside the abap stack (Tx smgw), but now on a single java stack, i don't know where i can run the program (ID).
As not pretty solution, i set our solman as gateway host. But this system is not defined as a high avalaible system and that's why i have some stomachache.
So, here my possibilities/ questions:
1. whats's about the gwrd process from the central services of our PO java stack? Can i run the program ID here locally? Is this possible?
If yes, could you provide me documentation? I tried it without success.
2. Or should i install standalone gateways on our same PO hosts? 3-tier as our 731-PO-landscape?
3. Or should i set many JCOs in the "JCO RFC-Provider" and start the the program (ID) in the corresponding backend system? F.ex. SAPSLDAPI_<SID of PO>_<SID of ERP> running in system ERP

Help setting up external service for email (MX record)

I am new to all of this so bear with me....
I am trying to set up mail using an external service...
Previously my website and email was hosted by justhost.com... i used muse to develop the website so i recently switched to business catalyst to host and im using domain forwarding to the new site hosted through the business catalyst. (not sure if this plays a role in my issue)
my email was (as i said) through justhost and i had it set up on my computer with outlook and on my phone. worked fine before...
when i switched to busines catalyst email went down so now im trying to set it up with the mx record. I have gotten it to work intermittantly but overall no success.
seems like im missing something simple???

However, my client in frustration for not getting mail on his phone and (I'm sure at this point) thinking that I don't know what the heck I am doing with his website call ipage.com.
They confirmed to him that the name servers are pointed at worldsecuresystems.com (the Business Catalyst server). My client told me that told him that he had to wait for the MX server to propgate. My client told me that they made no indcation that they did or would make any changes on the ipage.com side of things. Oddly my client started getting emails after about an hour. I check the new muse website I had built and the URL pointed at his old wordpress site. I was confused to say the least. I logged on the the ipage.com admin panel and the name servers where changed back to the ipage defult name servers.

Best hosting plan for iMac and PC editing?

I've been using iWeb for the past year on my personal site. I love its ease of use, not to mention how great everything looks.
Now I want to start another site with a more commercial flavor. The big difference with this one, though, is that I need to be able to update my site on my iMac at home AND my PC at work. I've yet to find a hosting plan or program that will allow me to do this efficiently. I'm thinking a web-based file manager might be my best option, but maybe there is something else out there that would be better. Would FTP be better? I have some experience with file managers but absolutely no experience with FTP.
This new site will mostly be set up in a blog style (several updates each day, permalinks, etc.), and I also want to be as flexible as possible in posting ads on the site. It seems some blogging software is fairly restrictive when it comes to ad flexibility.
Anybody have suggestions as to what might work best for my circumstances? I would appreciate any help.

Of course you can't use iWeb for your project, because it doesn't run on PC's, and you can't update an iWeb-created site without the app and the appropriate Domain file. So you presumably need to look at a cross-platform app like Dreamweaver.
As far as uploading technology, web-based file managers provided by the host are usually very limited and not to be recommended. You should use a real ftp client to get the best results, and major apps like Dreamweaver have this built-in.
Here's a list of Mac web editors. You might check to see which other ones have Windows versions.

Another option is to do everything on a site like Blogger, where you create your pages via a browser, rather than using a local web editor.

This post will be a little bit long and I thank you in advance for the patience and help. Sorry for any (or all) English errors. I'm brazilian.
Well, I want to reconstruct a website I have but now using as external .swf and .as files as I can. Also I need to change the way it works.
I have problems with loaders but I'm decided to dive into the subject and put it into practice here, for the first time.
The website will be really simple and here I have a scheme I just made to help you understand what are my doubts.
How this is going to work?
- When the user clicks a button, the current section will slide out (maybe unload?) while the new section slide in. This is the basic functionality.
- The website will have a home page when the user clicks the company logo.
- In the scheme you see all 4 sections but only one will be visible. The others will be hidden by a mask.
To start, I guess the best thing I can do is built each section in a separeted .fla file to have 4 external .swfs to load.
Then I thought about loading all 4 sections inside a sprite container. Then, "onSectionClick" slide the sprite to the right X position to show the correspondent section.
Now, what's the best approach to achieve that? The obvious is that each section should load only when the user clicks a button. Should each seaction has its own loader? When is the user going to see the message "loading section" or progress bar? Should I slide the section in onLoadingComplete or should I slide it in and show the message/progress bar? Should I unload the current section when that slide out?
I also thought about working with two sprites. One to loadSection and slideIn and another to load another section. Then, onSectionClick the currentSprite slideOut while the other slideIn and on background the first sprite unloads its content, change its X position and get ready to load another section when requested.
I think that's all.
I have this thing working but it's terrible because all sections load at once and there's no loading progress or whatsoever.

I was really thinking about making every section an external .swf instead of exporting movieClips from stage (linkage option). Which one is better?
As I said, Andrei helped me with the loading process. Actually he's still helping me but with what he already taught me I think I'll be able to do the loading thing.
Anyway, to make my life easier, imagine that all sections will tween to stage from the right side of it... to do that I'll have an onLoad method that will run when the loading process has finished. This method will call other two methods, slideOut and slideIn.
slideIn will only bring the loaded .swf loader on stage (from the right side) while the slideOut will push the current .swf out of stage (to the left side), unload it and finally be positioned at the other side of the stage (right) to receive the next section when requested?
Is this the best way to do this?
I think this is so confusing that not even you will understand what I'm trying to say.

Sorry, but that is totally insane and contradictory because quite simply it's not technically possible. Either you live with the reduced quality and limitations of an animated GIF or you use a static background. And even then I would predict that your GIF fiel may be way to heavy for web site use. You really need to reconsider your strategy and read up on web design in general. this simply cannot work the way you want it to.

I installed Gizmo recently. But then saw some videos about Truphone and the heard about Fring (dont know if it is for internet call or not).

While all others are stand alone apps installed on your phone which integrate with the phone's TCP stack Truphone is the only trully integrated solution which works naturally with the phone. allow me to explain
We are fast entering a world of 'least cost routing' with phone calls. simply put your mobile will intellegently decide on the cheast and most desirable way to connect a call!
In this respect the truphone architecture which in all intense and purposes is simply a configuration wizard on your mobile but clever routing on their network between your SIP number and your GSM number is the closest at achieveing this! It's simple but extremly impressive stuff when you get your head around it!
That said other standalone apps while occupying more memory sapce on your phone (which non of us really like) offer additional usefull services such as Video calling and chat messaging.
As ever the Tru annser (pardon the pun) depends on your requirements
Tivi is a stable app which support voice and video and chat using standard SIP protodol
if you are an MSN or Skype user us may be tempted to go for Fring.
My personal advice is keep it simple and get use to the Truphone solution!
