Best IDE on the planet??

Hi All,
We have been developing JSP's & Servlets using Borland's JBuilder5 Pro, which is crashing from time to time. So we are looking for alternatives.
I had a look on sun's FORTE for Java, but unsure about its performance.
Are there any other bullet-proof IDE's optimised for JSP/Servlets in the market.
We are using jakarta's Tomcat 4.0.1 Servlet container.
Thanks in advance for any recommendation.
Cheers
Trajano Roberto

We're using IntelliJ's IDEA 2.5 and love it!
It has all the features you'd expect. Download the trial edition and give it a try. Reasonable price as well.

I am an entry level programmer and I am looking for the best IDE to practice programming in C#. What are the best and easier IDEs to work with that work on a MacBook?
Also, any suggestions on sites, books, etc that could help me learn the language better?

  • What java IDE is the best one?

What java IDE is best ?
What java IDE are you using?

I agree that you should decide on what you want your IDE to do.
How important is a GUI builder?
Do you need support for, say Java Server Faces?
Do you frequently work with XML files?
    etc, etc.
That being sad: IntelliJ Idea ist the best in many areas, the most important one being usability. This sounds like a small deal, but as each and every feature is very-well implemented, it really boosts productivity.
Currently it falls short in some areas, like support for Java Server Faces.
"dingfelder": Where did you get these numbers from? Last I know, Idea was the third most used IDE.
Also "quantity of users" is as good a criteria as the checksum of it's installer file.
There's a saying in german that literally translates too "Eat sh*t - milliions of flies can't err." Sorry for the french, but you get the Idea I hope.
Oh no, I can't believe that I posted on yet another "what IDE is best" thread. And even more so in a forum that should deal with other stuff.

  • The best IDE to swing

What is the best API to swing?
    regards

    Mexman wrote:
What is the best API to swing?1) It is Swing, not swing.
    2) If you need to ask that question, I would say the best approach is "brain + Swing tutorial". Trying to code Swing GUIs in an IDE before you understand how layouts and Swing works, will get you into a whole heap of trouble that you are unable to resolve, and produce code that others will not be willing to wade through.
    3) The 'best' IDE, as already mentioned, is entirely subjective. Netbeans and Eclipse are two IDEs often recommended, with JCreator probably coming in 3rd (a long way behind the other two). Or to be more accurate, those IDEs are the most mentioned in my perception across various public forums. The first two are probably often used simply because they are free. ;)

  • Does The Best Buy Exclusive of Dawn of the Planet of the Apes come with a 2D version?

Does The Best Buy Exclusive of Dawn of the Planet of the Apes come with a 2D version? Because I'm really thinking about ordering it.

    Hi there TheTimelordspy,
I've heard good things about Dawn of the Planet of the Apes but sadly haven't had a chance to see it yet! After a quick review, it would appear that the version you speak of (SKU 7713034) should include a regular 2D Blu-ray disc version as well. If you should have any questions, please let me know!

    Hello tcnolen1,
It sounds like you are trying to change the Apple ID logged into the iTunes & App Stores on your iPhone.  Use these steps:
    Changing your Apple ID account
Tap Settings > iTunes & App Stores, then tap the Apple ID signed in.
Sign out of the current Apple ID account and then sign in with another account or create a new Apple ID.
You can find the full article here:

  • I am putting together a proposal for a Final Cut Pro Workstation to use with a tapeless HD camera.  Can anyone suggest the best camera (in the 5-10,000 dollar range) ?  What hardware and software should I include in the package?

I am putting together a proposal for a Final Cut Pro Workstation to use with a tapeless HD camera.  Can anyone suggest the best camera (in the 5-10,000 dollar range) ?  What hardware and software should I include in the package?

This is quite an open suggestion, but here are some ideas which might get you started.  There are good HD cameras in your price range from Sony, Panasonic and Canon (and maybe other manufacturers). Tapeless formats vary.  I have only worked with Sony XDCAM which seems pretty good to me.  File sizes for material shot at 35MBS are not too huge and, with the free Sony transfer and conversion programme, are easy to bring into the computer via USB direct from the camera or from a fairly inexpensive converter.  The Sony XDCAM EX3 can produce results well up to broadcast quality.
As to hardware, you'll need a powerful MAC - iMac, Macbook Pro or MacPro with 4GB or more of RAM and a good video card.  Softwarewise, FCPX is quite a bit cheaper than FC Studio 3 and of course it's 64bit and can make better use of multi-core machines than FCP7.    It's also designed to handle HD formats with less hassle than FCP7 and is matched to the latest versions of Motion and Compressor.   But you'd probably be wise to search reviews of FCPX before you make your choice - it has some issues.
A good HD monitor will be essential and, for colour correction etc, you may want to consider a second monitor or HD TV foe editing. ( A MacPro is generally the best machine to connect a second monitor to).
This should give you a good editing system, but there are many other things you could add (Photoshop, professional sound monitors, etc)
    Hope this helps a bit.

  • Best IDE & Platform Configuration? What do you think?

What do you think the best IDE is out there? I want to compile and create applications as well as servlets and beans, but my focus would be on the beans, servlets, jsp, etc, the web stuff. Once I have the IDE for that, what is the best configuration for developing under that environment. For example I would like to use the the JavaMail API as well, and that is available for the J2EE. So I can install both the J2SE and J2EE SDK's right? Should I accept their default installation directories? Is it possible to move files, the .jar files for example over the to a single directory for centralization? Help, trying to get an understaning how to create a nice development environment. Simple, efficient, etc.
    Thanks so much!!
    Terry

I personally think Eclipse is outstanding. I used JBuilder for a while, but it insisted on formatting code the JBuilder way. Eclipse also has refactoring, which is a major bonus. Moving classes is now a few clicks instead of performing a search-replace on all your files. There are UML and dozens of other types of plug-in.
As far as setting-up your environment, I normally duplicate a web application's deployment. So, the external JAR's I need are in WEB-INF/lib. The IDE should take care of classpath issues, if you perform the initial project set-up properly. I would also learn Jakarta's Ant. It makes deployment a lot easier, at the expense of some up-front development.

  • How Do I Get the Best Range with the Express?

What settings should I use to get the best range with the express? What Radio Mode, Multicast Rate and Transmit Power should I use? What is the estimated area that this will cover?

    +What Radio Mode+
802.11g only would be a good compromise. Here I am assuming when you say that you want the best range that you do not care if better range means lower network speed. Everything in wireless is a trade off. You cannot gain something without giving something else up in return.
    +Transmit Power+
    100%
    +Multicast Rate+
No effect on range, but a good idea to use a lower setting in general
+What is the estimated area that this will cover?+
Not possible to predict without knowing a whole lot more about how many obstructions will be in the signal path, what they are, the construction of your home, other wireless networks and cordless phones around you, etc. and many other factors. Please tell us what you are trying to do with as many details as possible.

I would recommend the products coming from Webgain. They offer the product

  • Best IDE ?

I'm a middle level programmer and I want to know that is the best IDE, so far I've been using Sun One Studio.
Is there something better for DB and networking development ?

Thanks, PowerNewbie. I appreciate that you're able to

  • Best IDE for developing Applets,Servlets,JSP

    Hi,
I'm looking for a little bit of advise. I have been developing prototypes using Apache Tomcat. Now I need to go into a full development phase, and I need an IDE to help speedup my work, especially when it comes to debugging applets and servlets. So the following are my questions:
    1. What is the best IDE to use in conjunction with Apache Tomcat? Does JBuilder, for example, fit this bill?
    2. Outside of Apache, I believe there is for example IBM's Websphere, which includes an IDE and a Servlet/JSP container. Which is the best of these packages?
    Thank you for your help.

  • Best pratices for the customizing about the performance

    Hello,
I would like to know the list of the best pratices for the customizing BPC NW 7.5 about the performance.
    Best regards

    Hi,
There are few how to guides on SDN which will give you a basic idea on script logic. Apart from this, you can refer to the help guide on help. sap.com.
The templates might also effect the performance. The number of EVDRE functions, the number of expansion dimensions, the number of members on which expansion takes place will effect the performance. A complex formatting in the template will also effect.
    Hope this helps.
