If you want to learn Servlets "deeply" - you need to understand how the Servlet Container works, along with the Servlet API.
You can check out the Servlet Container Jetty ( http://jetty.mortbay.org/ ). You can download the Source Code & see how the Server ticks !

Importing the Ravenna Tutorial Site

Hello, I was able to import the RVH Tutorial Site and everything went as planned, EXCEPT after it installs then I go and run the Indexer because the doc says that needs to be done before you can view the site in teh browser. Well I went in to the Repository Manager and Ran the "Collection Rebuild Cycle" it Finished and is now sitting idle. I now try to go to the site and I get page not found.

WHY? What am I missing?
I also went to the files where that folder exists and there is no index.htm like the doc says, I only see the follow:

Whats a good tutorial site for starting with Flash?

I have searched far and wide all over the internet and I
can't seem to find any good tutorial sites on how to make nice text
animations, example, making something sparkle, or making the text

Best Swing tutorial?

I've always wanted to get into Swing, but I have two left feet.
Okay, so in all seriousness I was wondering what you think the best Swing tutorial is? I'd prefer online to paper, but I'm open to any suggestions. As to what I want to do with Swing, I really can't say other than that I want to learn the basics. I've developed a lot of apps with user interfaces on the web and I want to try developing an app that doesn't require a web server or other overhead for a change.

Videos on tutorial site suddenly not loading?

Having a problem with videos on a US tutorial site which worked fine until two days ago. They hang on the buffer screen and won't play on my MacBook Pro, but are fine on PC, iPhone and iPad.
My repairer has tried reinstalling Flash (new and previous versions) with no success and suggests a problem with JW Player on the site - www.larryjordan.biz
Anyone else having similar issues? Ideas?

on my fresh; sidenote: first; install of Arch (about 2 weeks ago, just before gimick ><) i had to update the firmware before the module would load properly.

i was wondering what the best service is in combination with aperture, the best service on its own for me is flickr, i like there online interface a lot.
so there is no way to have the same functionality with aperture as with iphoto from ilife08?
the demo on the .mac website shows they simply upload a gallery to .mac web gallery like here: http://gallery.mac.com/emily_parker
now when i export a web gallery from aperture its just a stupid web page with none of the interactive functions of a web gallery
but unless aperture can publish to .mac like iphoto can i will probably stick with flickr, flickr export for aperture seems also the most capable plug in for the moment compared to the export plugins for smugmug or other services.
i was really hoping to be able to use .mac like advertised with iphoto or have someone here suggest some other great service to use with aperture, i would especially like to be able to sync keywords both ways.

Best illustrator forums - also rotating

Whats the best sites for illustrator forums, for asking questions about using illustrator? I like the adobe forums for technical issues but I've never used it for use issues. Any suggestions?
Also, Earlier today I wanted to rotate a line 9 degrees, and copy. It was to make a locker lock. 40 little hash marks around a circle. I put the registration point in the center of the circle, but is there anyway to precisely put in 9 degrees. If I move the registration point then it seems like I can't type in an exact measurement. I used the mouse and the little tool tip helped me get close, but I could never hit 9° exactly.
Hopefully that made sense, its kinda hard for me to describe these things well.

Option-click with the Rotate tool where you want the center of rotation and to get the Rotate dialog which will allow precise numerical rotation. Then use Cmd(Ctrl)-D to repeate the transformation as many times as needed.

Music on Hold: Best Practice and site assignment

I have a client with multiple sites, a large number of remote workers (on and off domain) and Lync Phone Edition devices.
We want to deploy a custom music on hold file. What's the best way of doing this? I'm thinking
Placing the file on a share on one of the Lync servers. However this would mean (I assume) that clients will always try to contact the UNC path every time a call is placed on hold, which would result in site B connecting to site A for it's MoH file. This
is very inefficient and adds delay onto placing a call on hold. If accessing the file from a central share is best practice, how could I do this per site? Site policies I've tried haven't worked very well. For example, if a file is on
\\serverB\MoH\file.wma for a site called "London Site" what commands do I need to run to create a policy that will force clients located at a site to use that UNC path? Also, how do client know what site
they are in?
Alternatively, I was thinking of pushing out the WMA file to local devices via a Group Policy, and then setting Lync globally to point to %systemdrive%\MoH\file.wma. Again, how do I go about doing this? Also, what would happen to LPE devices that wouldn't
have the file (as they wouldn't get the GPO)?
Any help with this would be appreciated. Particularly around how users are assigned to sites, and the syntax used to create a site policy for the first option. Any best practice guidance would be great!

Dreamweaver CC Tutorial Site Display Errors in IE11

Hi all
Have recently started getting to grips with Dreamweaver CC through this tutorial:

I am something of a beginner here, but I've been doing really well with this tutorial series - that is until I started testing the site in IE11. Up to that point I was using my default browser of Chrome and everything was displaying perfectly. I even went on to start producing my own pages with some success (these pages also displaying in the same way in IE11, can provide details if needed).
I have since tested my own tutorial page builds and the completed pages supplied with the tutorial and when they display in IE11 the navbar appears vertically staggered like a series of steps (see attached screen grab). I've done as much digging as I can, but can't find any solutions. The code looks good (both HTML and CSS) as far as I can tell from a novice perspective, and it displays fine in Chrome, but not IE11.
I'm assuming it's something to do with the CSS code, specifically the float attributes, but would welcome any insight as I really don't know enough to make an informed observation.
I haven't attached any code as everything is available from the tutorial link above.
As an aside, the Adobe Edge Fonts don't seem to load either, but that is a secondary concern at the moment (unless it proves to be part of the same problem).

Unfortuantely sourcelabs.com does not give the option of testing IE11 on windows 7 so I cant be of much help here.
One thing you might want to try is floating the <li> tags - add the below to your css stylesheet.

David Powers is pretty good when it comes to his tutorials and they are usually thoroughly tested. As I say in a simulated windows 8.1 envrionment in IE11 the nav looks fine BUT of course its better to test in the real thing.
