Best iPad apps for creating and sharing word and spreadsheet documents?

I am about to take a work trip away for a few weeks and will need to create word and spreadsheet documents and share them with my colleagues back in the office. Does anyone have any tips on the best apps to do this? I'm concerned that the iWork apps might be problematic with the .pages and .numbers native formats, given that my colleagues work on ms office in a windows environment. Also, the google docs mobile experience seems to be pretty clunky, so I'm hoping someon out there has the perfect solution! Thanks in anticipation.

I use documents to go and am pleased with it. and the premium version also supports cloud storage and syncing.

(X-post from Using iPad, but thought I might get some useful responses here.)

There is no perfect solution, especially for those who need to create more complex documents (tables, etc.) and spreadsheets.   If your files are simple Quickoffice will do the job; you can set up a shared dropbox for those at the home base to access and interact with it directly through the app.  For heavy duty lifting you may want to consider accessing your  work desktop remotely using Splashtop, Logmein, gotomypc app, etc...

  • What is the best app for creating and signing documents on the iPad?

I am a home organizer and I am typically in a clients home when I need to have them sign a contract and I want to become a 'paperless' organizer.  I need to take my service agreement, enter their information, have them sign the document and then email it to both them and myself.  I don't want my 'template' altered in the process and I don't need to worry about saving the document since it will be in my inbox.  Can anyone suggest the best app to accomplish this?  Thank you in advance for all your help.

You may want to look at a company called Docusign at:
    http://www.docusign.com
My company uses this service to have customers sign all kinds of documents. I don't know what the cost is.

  • Best iPad app for Job Timing, "To Do" & Scheduling

I'm contracted to a company as a computer tech, graphic designer and administrator of their computer and accounting systems. I also design and layout their brochures, catalogues and pricelists ready for print. I need to keep track of tasks requested, plus how long each task takes to complete.
Therefore I am needing an iPad/iPhone app that will do the following:
    • Quickly enter tasks with a date/time deadline. Input is available to specify priority (e.g +Urgent, High, Medium, Low, When-you-can+ etc). An iCal-like layout would be good. Includes the option of alarms and push emails to be assigned to each task.
    • The option of setting as a template a recurring set of tasks for each day. e.g. Daily meeting @ 9am, Process invoices @ 9.30, Update stock levels @ 9.45am etc. These tasks happen everyday, and is set as a customizable template of recurring events, just like iCal's repeating events. Tasks in the template can be edited and will affect all consecutive days recurring tasks.
    • Once I begin a new task, the app begins a timer to keep track of how many minutes it takes to complete. It allows for pausing (if I have to answer phones etc, but keeps that task open.) Once task is complete, it automatically marks the task as complete, notes the total time spent on the task and moves to the next prioritized task.
    • If a task can't be completed that day or at that moment, you can choose to carry-over that task to another time or even re-schedule to the following day/week/month. When returning to the re-scheduled task, the timer continues from where it left off. e.g. Weekly sales reports couldn't be finished Friday, continued Monday.
    • At the end of each day, a +task report summary+ can be exported to A4 PDF and either printed or push emailed, showing each task title, short description (if entered), the time opened, closed, total time taken, and if it is carried forward/re-scheduled.
    *Can anyone help me?*
I know this is really specific, but I would be ecstatic if someone, somewhere, had an app that suits!
I'm just so overwhelmed with the variety of GTD and "To Do" apps. I don't want to outlay $ on an app that just doesn't "float me boat."
Any advice from anyone would be very welcomed.
    Thanks.

It doesn't do everything you are looking for, but I would look at Timewerks: Mobile Billing. It does a lot of what you are looking for.

You may also want to check out iTimeSheet.
    http://itunes.apple.com/app/itimesheet/id287629482?mt=8
I have used both. I started out on iTimeSheet and moved to Timewerks because it works better for me to keep track of time spent on a project.

  • Best CC App for creating "animated" menu?

Picture this on the home page of a website: a rectangular frame (size irrelevant for this question), empty inside, every 2 or 3 seconds a new graphic/slide appears (transitions) inside the frame, each has text describing a page in the site; when you click on one of the graphics/slides when it appears, it takes you to that page.
I'm calling this an animated site menu. (You can call it whatever you like.) (Not being snarky. Just saying there could be different, better terminology.)
I'm confident that something - some app in Adobe Creative Cloud - will allow me to create a menu like this and then embed it in a web page. This webpage will have other things, like the header graphic, so this menu won't be alone on the page.
Flash? Edge Animate? Something!! I subscribe to the whole ACC shebang.
I'm a WYSIWYG type of person, so I don't know code, and I don't know javascript.
I haven't used a lot of the ACC apps, which is probably why I can't answer this question myself. But if someone can tell me which app (if there is one) will let me create this menu and then embed it in a web page I'd be forever grateful.
Of course you can ask more questions. I know I've probably not described my project/outcome as clearly as I could have, but it's early, or late depending on how you look at it. (It's 6 am and I've been up all night.)
Here's the "frame." The white space within the orange rectangle will be a sort of slideshow. Graphics/slides will change every 3 seconds or so. The frame will never change.

You can create a slideshow in Edge Animate and put markers and actions on the relevant sections, then size it to fit within your imaginary frame. Otherwise I'm sure there's tons of "preview slideshow with page jump" jQuery widgets out there that can easily be integrated into Muse, Dreamweaver and so on.

  • Best iPad app for teaching

I teach courses and am looking for an app on for my iPad where I can scroll through my notes like I'm turning the pages of a book. Most of the apps allow you to scroll up and down but there's very little control or no page breaks. I've downloaded GoodReader but have not been able to figure out how to "swipe" horizontally yet. I can't figure out how to set the page read to "Landscape". If anyone has suggestions with another app or can help with GoodReader I would appreciate it.

The  program Pages let's you make iBooks just like in the book in the iBook app. Book cover and page turning and all... This is Pages for the desktop not the app Pages for the iPad.
    http://www.apple.com/iwork/
It is easy fairly easy to make epubs (iBooks) with Pages. One of the nice things is with the Pages you can place videos within the iBook. The maximum size for epubs (iBooks) is around 500MB. You need to take that into account when you make your epub (iBooks).
    http://support.apple.com/kb/HT4168
Pages for the desktop is a Mac only program. It will not run on windows.

As the question is asked three times, I guess that you wish to marry three times.
From my point of view, the best app to do this or that is the one with which we are comfortable.

    - InDesign 6 - Best layout limited intractivity and issues with the folio builder
    - Edge - HTML 5 BUT No Audio/Video
    - Digital Publishing Suite the cost is just silly for the little guy

  • What's the best thesaurus app for iPhone 4S?

I'm looking for the best thesaurus app for my new iPhone 4S.
The best I've seen listed to so far is the Oxford English version for $24.99 Canadian. All the rest are Roget II or those A-Z thesauri which I've never liked.
I prefer the Roger's International Thesaurus (remember in school that yellow paperback thesaurus with the kangaroo on the front?) which has all the words divided by subject in the front, and all the words listed alphabetically in the back, subdivided by meaning, and have a number listed as to where it is in the front (ie GREEN noun greenness 44.1 verdigris 44.3 lawn 310.7 adjective inexperienced 414.17 new 841.7 etc etc etc).
I would like to find an app version of that (320,000 words and phrases in 1072 categories according to the back of the book) or the closest version.
Is there such a thing or is the Oxford English version the closest I will come to it? I consider this one of the most important apps I will put on my phone. Even more important than Facebook. haha

    depends
    some people dock to
    sync with their computer
    some to charge
    some to use audio out
the answer to your question really comes down to what you are trying to do
