Best iPad Case & Accessories?

Aloha all,
Just got my iPad on Friday and I need a case.
Any recommendations on a case and perhaps other necessary accessories.
Mahalo!

I bought and tried several cases... I finally found one I like and it's a MarWare brand
http://www.marware.com/products/iPad/Eco-Vue-for-iPad
Love it!, built very nicely, has a built in stand to use to raise it at the perfect level for typing on, hand strap to secure it while you hold it and overall just holds the ipad nicely..
I am interested in Otterbox's offerings now that they have shown what they will have. I may have to switch over to that for the more rugged protection when I'm out and about, but for my daily use of the iPad at the office and around the house, the MarWare case I got is perfect. One thing I love about the marware (and other padfolio cases) is that you can't tell there's an iPad in it easily, just looks like a notebook. I really don't want a big "APPLE" logo on the front of it as I think that just makes it a target to steal. Rather have a good solid case that's low visibility into what's inside when I'm not using it.

  • Best iPad case for hospital/ER use?

    Hi all,
I'm an ER doc and our department just received new iPads as we move into the electronic medical records age.
I need a strong yet practical (lightweight) iPad case.
We will carry it from patient room to room and use it for documenting histories and charts.
I've read other threads about practical sanitation of iPads but that's not that big of deal since I'd rather just take it out of the case to clean it or just wipe the whole thing in its entirety with our sanitation wipes.
I'm mainly looking for something that can protect against drops, spills/blood/fluids but not weigh like a brick.
Our documentation program is also compatible with a stylus.
Are the hard screen protectors on most cases OK for stylus use in terms of accuracy and details?
Any input and reviews would be greatly appreciated.
    Thanks!

    GummyD and other docs,
My company Alphyn Industries just developed a scrub that holds your iPad for you on your chest with our LEDGE system. It frees both your hands and the iPad is suspended perpendicular to your chest when needed.
To put the iPad away, the pocket flap is simply zipped up. We have not launched is commercially yet, and we are looking for doctors who want to work with us and help us make it mainstream.
We aree also working on a disposable film pack to keep the screen sanitary in the OR.
You can see the LEDGE application in our commercial PADX-1 fleece jacket:

I may receive some form of compensation, financial or otherwise, from my recommendation or link.
Please contact me for more details.

  • What is best iPad case for new iPad?

I have a cover that works the on/off but have tried a cygnet cover that doesn't activate the on/off.  I need more protection for travel and wanted a case instead.

A case is a very personal choice, and there are many to choose from.
I have the Executive Leather case from Yoobao.  You can get them here:
    http://kevikev.com/Yoobao-Executive-Leather-Smart-Cover-Case-for-New-Apple-iPad- 3-YBNEWIPADEX.htm
It's made of leather and comes in 6 colors.  The cover works the sleep/wake function, and the case provides substantial protection to all sides of the iPad.  The cover portion can also function as a stand.  It's also thin, so it does not add any additional bulk to the iPad itself.  Highly recommended.

For anyone who was waiting forever for the Quirky Cloak and are now disappointed with the finished product check out the JAVOedge case at http://www.javoedge.com/reflexeshop/productCatalog/getProduct.do?poid=2974&pbmId =18266 . Horizontal and vertical orientation and reasonable price.

  • I'm a new iPad user, what's the best looking case?

    Just got a iPad an
D wanted to know what's the best case out there from my new apple fam n__n

That is one loaded question. As with beauty, the best looking case is in the eye of the beholder, and the same for the best case. If there were only a few cases available from one or two case manufacturers only, maybe an easier question to answer, but there are a number of different types and styles of cases available from a significant numbed of case manufacturers.

  • BEST iPad 2 case, WITH screen protection built in!!

I am looking for the best ipad 2 case. I know there are other posts on here, but I can never find the information I am personally looking for.
First of all let me start by saying I have an iphone 3gs. On my iphone I have an otterbox which is water resistant, shock proof, and it COVERS the screen.
That is exactly what I want, except I want it in ipad 2 form.
I am looking for an ipad 2 case that has a screen. I do not want a screen protector I want my case to have the screen. But I havent come accross any like that. I bought an otterbox but it didn't have a screen, I don't know if I bought the wrong otterbox, but if anyone could help me, I would greatly appreciate it!!
    Thankssss

You'll get more responses to this in the "Using iPad" forum then here... you may want to move it.
But to start - what do you mean by wanting a case that "covers the screen" and "to have the screen" but not a screen protector? It seems like you want a case that covers the screen but at the same time lets you use the screen? But is not a screen protector?

  • What is the best iPad 2 case out there?

  • Best Ipad3 case with keyboard? Can I use a Ipad 2 case for Ipad 3?

I just bought the Ipad3 and I need to buy the case, but all the cases I found are for the Ipad 2 - are the Ipad 2 and 3 the same size? Can I use same case?
Which one is the best case with keyboard for ipad 3?
    Thanks!

First, we have a whole bunch of threads on this, so a search would help, and it would offer dozens of answers to this you might want to think about including a long thread where I reviewed a whole bunch of keyboards for the ipad3....
    But in short,
The Zagg Folio fits both the 2 and the 3 -- most people are finding in general that almost all cases made for the ipad 2 work with the iPad 3....
The Zagg has what I have found to be, by far, the best keyboard with the least errors -- in fact, I was able to get about 60 wpm on the keyboard without error after only a few minutes of practice. The downside is that the case is flimsy, looks kinda cheap, and its really hard to get the iPad out of the folio case -- I've found I have stopped using the folio at all, and just use the keyboard on my desk at work.
The clamcase fits both the ipad 2 and the iPad 3 -- it is by far the best overall case/keyboard that I have found. It looks great -- and the keyboard works well. Because of the realignment of the magnets in the ipad 3, it does not turn on/turn off the iPad like it does with the ipad 2, where that works flawlessly.
The downside is that the keys are cramped, and the error rate increases. With about a half hour of practice, I got about a 45 wmp typing rate, and that included several errors that required correction. It's a tradeoff because the keyboard feels good, the response is good, but because the keys are not seperated it is harder to type. I use this case only when I go on longer trips and don't want to take my laptop.
The nest overall keyboard is the Apple bluetooth keyboard without a case -- but it's a pain to lug it along, and you need a seperate "easel" for your ipad. Still, it's the best keyboard you can use -- and I get 65 wpm error free with this keyboard. I have one at home, and it's my keyboard of choice when you don't need the case.
Finally, I've gound that Brookstone makes a decent keyboard -- it works well, comes in multiple colors, and its actually more stable than the Zagg folio. The keyboard is not as good, though, and is plastic-y feeling. Still, it might be a fair tradeoff.
Almost all other keyboards are made by the same companies and distributed to third parties who put them into their own cases. I'd stay away from most of the other keyboards.
Overall -- for the convenience of the sheer folio thing, the Clamcase is about as good as it gets, even though it is about 50 dollars more than the Zagg and other similar models. Plus it makes your iPad look like a macbook, which is kind of cool.

  • Best iPad mini retna case

Best Ipad min retna case ANY advice would help

I like using the Khomo iPad Mini Smart Case. If you have considered buying Apple's smart case but find it to be too pricey this is the case for you!

  • The iPad Case Thread

With the iPad out less than a month, it's surprising to see how many cases are out there. Unfortunately, most cases are not available in stores, so it's hard to get a read on them. iLounge.com did a great review of many of the cases. I thought an iPad case thread would give us an opportunity to share out thoughts with the cases we have purchased, what we like, what we dislike.
    I'll go first:
I decided that I didn't want a portfolio type...I prefer my iPad "naked" in my hands. To protect it, I used the Bodyguardz front/back/sides protector. The back give me just enough grip to reduce the slipperyness of the iPad. For a case, bought the Waterfield Designs Slip Case (sfbags.com). It is a snug fit, nicely lined with a plastic "shield" built in to prevent damage to the screen. If provides great protection and can slip into a brief case, shoulder bag, etc. I'm very happy with it...it's well made and great customer service. In addition, their site shows videos of each bag so you can seen them in action.
Anyone else buy a case they like/dislike? Let's hear it....

I think the problem with the iPad accessories in general is A) the lack of hands -n availability of the cases and B) Not knowing how to treat the iPad and C) the size of the unit requires more raw material and thus higher prices and probably less profit margin. Its not a phone, not a touch, not a notebook, not a tablet pc.......its a hybrid of its own. I don't even think the manufacturers of these cases are hip to what the case should be like. Thats going to take some time in my opinion.
    _*CASE MATE:*_
I tried the "Gelli" Case from Case-Mate for $39.99 with free shipping from case-mate.com. Its one of the most attractive case I have seen but it didnt improve the feel of the iPad in my hands. It was almost an extension of the slippery feel of the naked iPad. I kept it for 3 weeks to really make sure I didnt like it. And its not so much that I didnt like it, but I also didnt love it. I have returned it for a refund. Again, its a well made and attractive case, its just not for me. I WISH they would make a Barely-There line for the iPad as I have them for my iPod Touch.

    HDACCESSORY:
I also ordered a leather folio from HD ACCESSORY.com for $29.95 plsu $8.00 shipping. My hopes were to have a leather carry case for meetings and the like. I looked at the apple case, the other cases from incase and the like, but each one had a "fatal flaw" of one kind or another for me. So I ordered the leather folio from HDA as mentioned above. It arrived last weekend and was a disappointment. The "straps" wouldnt hold the iPad in place, and there was glue on the inside "suede" lining, very unprofessional. I have since shipped it back and am hoping for a full refund.

    BELKIN:
Last weekend I was at Best Buy and found a Belkin "Grip Swell" (cute name) and purchased it for $49.99 + tax (yikes!). Its soft and "grippy" , perhaps not quite as "grippy" as I would prefer, but I still like the case. It improves the experience of the iPad as a case should. I have opted to keep it despite the high cost of the unit.

*_INCASE SLEEVE:_* I looked at this one in Best Buy but at $39.95 (I passed on it). That said, its extremely well made and the material inside the unit is SO SOFT. I ended up ordering an InCase Netbook Sleeve (INCL57365) which will fit the iPad for $22.20 dollars shipped from B+H Camera. It should arrive any day now.

CASE LOGIC NETBOOK ESLING: I saw a YouTube review for this a week or so ago. Its a nice netbook carry bag that retails for $34.99 or higher. I got it at my local Best Buy for $7.99 (I think they are closing it out for the new model). What a steal!
    +Case Logic YouTube Link+ - http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=9hIyk1I2Ieg
I also looked at the following cases:
*Apple Case* - This was the first case I considered, but I have seen more negative than positive reviews on it. Seems awkward to me.
    http://store.apple.com/us/product/MC361ZM/A?fnode=MTc0MjU2Mjc&mco=MTc0Njk0ODM
*InCase Convertible Book Jacket* - Not sure all that FOLDING of the case would be good long term.
    http://goincase.com/products/detail/CL57512/5
*Marware Eco Flip* - I felt the hand-sleeve would end up getting too loose. I wonder how well the stand works as well.
    http://www.ilounge.com/index.php/reviews/entry/marware-eco-vue-for-ipad/
In closing, my DREAM case would be something like a leather folio with the ability to have a SKIN case (like the Belkin) while using the folio.
    Hope this helps someone.

  • Any recommendations with respect to the best ipad 2 cover

What is the best ipad 2 cover? Looking for maximum protection front and back

I'd suggest looking for a portfolio cover. One that the iPad can slide into with a heavier front cover. I got mine from anazon, a nice pretty purple leather which I'm sure won't be to your tastes
However portfolio cases do seem to provide the most functionality and protection.
Now none of them really provide muchh protection against accidental drops. There are ones like Otterbox that do have more chunky looking cushioning, but none of them are perfect either.

  • Advice Needed: Cleaning iPad Case

I'm looking for tips on how to best clean Apple's official iPad case. I don't use it very much if at all, but it's REALLY dirty and I'm unsure about how to clean it. I'd like to get it looking halfway decent again.
Thanks in advance for any feedback.
    Steven

I use a terry wash cloth dipped in warm water then wrung out. Scrub the case thoroughly, then dry it with a dry terry towel. It gets 95% of the gunk out of the cover. Certainly improves its appearance.

  • What is the best iPad 2 cover. Any suggestions please?

Best iPad 2 cover. Any suggestions please?
I would prefer a leather option, but this is not a certainty.

For my iPad 2, I bought an Adesso case/keyboard model WKB-2000CD http://www.adesso.com/en/component/content/article/49-coming-soon/455-wkb-2000cd .html Works great & looks good. The keyboard is easier to use than Apple's on-screen keyboard. Do a Google search using the model number to get the best price. About the same price as Apple's covers & it covers the whole iPad. Although the new iPad  is slightly thicker, it should fit this case.
     Cheers, Tom

  • Best ipad 3 battery cover?

Anyone know of the best ipad 3 battery cover? It should provide good battery life as I am out of power most of the time. Even though I feel my new ipad gives great work time, I need more power! I already have an excellent case but it does not have an extended battery. Price should be US$ 125 max.
    Thanks!
