Best iPad writing app with very good formatting support?

I'm looking for an app that can create and edit documents. The most important things for me are formatting and structure, and the ability to insert pictures. Page breaks would be nice too. Free and cheap are preferable :-)
Any ideas? Thanks!

Ya OK, I have to learn to be more specific. I realize Microsoft does not make apps for iOS but other developers do make apps that integrate and work better with Microsoft's products.
What I meant is an app better suited to saving windows formats, but I guess Pages can do this as well. The Pages app saves Pages files by default which requires you to share the document to save it as a Word document. Other Work suites which are built more for Windows users will save Word documents by default if you also use Word to edit the documents on the PC as well. It may work better now, it has been my experience you will find formatting issues when converting documents between the different file types.

MY IPAD 2 is not very good at picking up wi-fi signials .I have a Kindle Fire and it has no problems in the same location .Is this a normal limitation for the IPAD or do I need a fix

It's possible it's that app that's the culprit.
Try syncing your apps but deselect the box next to labyrinth 2 in iTunes. Or, delete the app directly from the iPad by holding down the app until it jiggles then tap the circle with an x, then tap Delete. Press the Home button once or twice to stop all the icons from jiggling. You can always re sync the app using iTunes.
Then restart the iPad.Press and hold the On/Off Sleep/Wake button until the red slider appears. Slide your finger across the slider to turn off iPod touch. To turn iPod touch back on, press and hold the On/Off Sleep/Wake button until the Apple logo appears.
See if the screen will rotate.
If that doesn't help, try, "Reset All Settings".  General / Reset. Tap Reset All Settings. That resets preferences and settings to default but contacts, calendars, and media won't be effected.

what is the best ipad flash app for the ipad2

There's only browsers and they all have mixed reviews. I'd look through the App store and see which ones have the least issues with what you need it for.

Someone is probably sending spam with your address forged on the To: line.  Could be one of your old contacts with a Windows machine has a virus that's doing it.  It's also possible your e-mail account has been hacked, though I'd think such a hacker would be a bit more purposeful.

  • How can I sync my iPad calendar app with my iPhone calendar app?

I use my iPad calendar app a lot. How can I get the info on the iPad app to sync with my iPhone (it's the same calendar app). Thanks in advance for the help.

I guess there are a few ways to do this. I make my iMac the "home" for calendar and contact info. I make sure it is current and accurate. I sync my iPhone and my iPad2 to it frequently. If I enter new calendar data on the iPhone or iPad when I get home I sync them to the iMac to be sure it is current.
We use BusyCal at home so all our Mac's are automatically synced to one another and we sync our mobile devices to the computers. So I sync my iPhone and iPad to the iMac and all of them have the same information.
We do not use Mobile Me or another other web based service for calendar syncing since we feel that give us less control and more complexity.

  • BEST iPad 2 case, WITH screen protection built in!!

I am looking for the best ipad 2 case. I know there are other posts on here, but I can never find the information I am personally looking for.
First of all let me start by saying I have an iphone 3gs. On my iphone I have an otterbox which is water resistant, shock proof, and it COVERS the screen.
That is exactly what I want, except I want it in ipad 2 form.
I am looking for an ipad 2 case that has a screen. I do not want a screen protector I want my case to have the screen. But I havent come accross any like that. I bought an otterbox but it didn't have a screen, I don't know if I bought the wrong otterbox, but if anyone could help me, I would greatly appreciate it!!
    Thankssss

You'll get more responses to this in the "Using iPad" forum then here... you may want to move it.
But to start - what do you mean by wanting a case that "covers the screen" and "to have the screen" but not a screen protector? It seems like you want a case that covers the screen but at the same time lets you use the screen? But is not a screen protector?

  • New version of app with subscription and newsstand support not visible in App Store

This might be more question aimed on Apple Support, but maybe someone had similar experience. Today at morning i've released new version of App for customer. This version have two main news - support for newsstand and subscription. Old version disappeared from App Store, but new one is not visible on any market. i'm quite confused, anyone have idea what happened?

    Hi, Steven and Martin
I have  this porblem now. My app is out from app store, because I delete the subscription in my app with newsstabd enable.
I'm a little confused, because I submit a new subscription - with a new product ID - because I can't reuse the first.
Apple don´t allow me update a new app without newsstand. Until now I hadn´t answer from apple about the new subscription and my app continuous nor visible in app store, but the status is "ready to sale".
At least, Apple should me send a  message about this issue.
All the problem started because I set the tier price to subscription the same value to retail price (tier 3), then when I changed the tier price to amount the period subscription - 6 months (tier 90). This price (tier 90) was set to the retail folios too, so my magazine turned the most expensive in App Store!!!
Please, I'd like and I need to understand better how set differents prices to retail and subscription, because something happened wrong in my first try

  • Best ipad 1 apps for integrating voice and handrwriting recognition to other apps like email & calendar

my wife just inherited my old ipad 1 and she wants to use in her office to replace her old paper/binder franklin organizer. she needs an easy to use intuitive set of business apps that she can type, dictate & write that will inetgrate with other apps like email, calendar & orgnized note categories. what are the best apps to give her a great experience. If all goes well, she may upgrde to new ipad but she needs to see value here first to stop using her paper system.

I should also mention that we use android phones so iPad is a new technology for her. She needs a Windows or web interface since she uses gmail, google calendar & google docs. I guess I am asking for a lot but it seems that somebody (quite a lot of people!!!!) would have the same requirements. Just a no-nonsense high functionlaity portable interoperable daytime planner/organizer. OmniFocus looks good but is only Apple centric and requires iOS 6.0 where our iPad 1 only goes up to iOS 5.1.1. How about the ability to 'print' .. ??? Am I going off the deep end here ?? Sounds pretty obvious to me ...

  • Best iPad mail app for attachments

I'll be picking up the new iPad Air in the next few days and am wondering what email app I should use for attachements. My work uses a Gmail hosted email service, and I'm a Gmail user myself, so ideally it would have multi-account support.
In my work I use the usual mix of .doc, .xls and .pdf documents. From what I understand the default Mail app is not suitable for (multiple) attachments. I'm a big Dropbox user if that makes a difference.
I hear good things abou the Mailbox app (by Dropbox) and the Gmail app by Google themselves.
    Any suggestions?

I love the recently launched iPad app Cannonball. https://itunes.apple.com/app/cannonball-email/id701582906
You can search for just attachments as well as sort email into various cataegories as you would with snail mail. So subscriptions, financial, travel etc all get sorted and allow you to peruse through as you need them.
It got great reviews as well - http://mashable.com/2013/10/22/cannonball-app/

  • Localization: Best practice suggestions Apps with mixed UI and Content languages?

I am trying to write a simple Universal app that can be easily localized to different UI languages. But the app also needs to display content that is determined by user settings. For example I would like the app UI to display in the users region (English,
Russian, etc.) while at the same time having fields on the page whose strings are coming from other resources (Latin "la"? , Spanish, etc.).
The samples are pretty good about how to setup resources with respect to the UI ( e.g. Strings/en-us/Resources.resw ) but not what to do if you want to also be able to draw strings from a different language. When the words in the content fields show in Latin
I don't want the UI to also be in Latin.
Suggestions on best way to do this?
    Thanks,
    -Tom19

    Hi Tom19,
I did not receive the email notification on my mailbox for your reply, that's weird. Sorry for the late response.
Basically we have the best practice documentation for you:
Creating and retrieving resources in Windows Store apps also
Quickstart: Using string resources, take a look at the documentations to see if these helps.

  • IPad Photo App with the ability to write on the image with stylus?

Is there a photo app for 4th generation iPad that allows me to take a picture and then write on the image with a stylus? I'm in the sign business and that would be ideal for on site assessments (write dimensions and notes)

Creating notes using stylus on the application is not possible on Adobe Reader Touch.
But, you can add a sticky note on the document. To add a sticky note, launch app bar, select Comments button and then select Sticky Note option and click on the point where you want you add the sticky note.

  • IPad closes apps with slightest bump

So recently my mom's iPad 2 has gone nuts. No matter what app is opened, the slightest bump makes the iPad go back to either the home screen or the multi screen where you close/select open apps. Sometimes it will flip back and forth between a few of these screens a couple of times. Even simple typing on screen using a normal touch makes the apps minimize.
I've performed a hard reset and I've completely erased the iPad and started over. Still does the same thing. I'm thinking it has to be a hardware issue, but I thought I would come here to see what the community thinks.
    Thanks.

That's the sure sign of the Home button being triggered, possibly due to out of calibration or dust/dirt. You'll notice that when an app is open, pressing the Home button does exactly the same thing as what is happening when it's being bumped so I feel pretty certain that the Home button is being triggered due to the above possible reasons.
A couple of things to try:
Reset your device (I see that you've already done this):
    Device Reset (won't affect settings/data/music/apps/etc)
    1. Press and hold (& continue to hold) BOTH the Sleep/Wake button & the Home button.
    2. Continue to hold BOTH (ignoring any other messages that may show) until you see the Apple logo on the screen.
    3. Release BOTH buttons when you see the Apple logo and allow the device to boot normally.
    Calibrate the Home button:
    1. Open a stock app on the device like Calendar or Weather
    2. With the stock app open, press the Sleep/Wake button at the top of the device until the red slider control appears. As soon as you see it, press the home button and keep it held down until the red slider disappears.
    3. The Home button should now be calibrated
*Note that Home button calibration may work for awhile but if something is really wrong with the button and it's switch, the calibration may not last.
Clean around the Home button with compressed air...try to tilt the button to the left, blow some air into the right side, tilt the button to the right, blow into the left side, top and bottom as well. Also Google "home button stuck" or "home button cleaning" for more tips on how to possibly clear out anything (dust/lint/whatever) preventing the Home button from operating normally.

  • Best Practice - Analyze table with very large partitions

We have a table that contains 100 partitions with about 20m rows in each. Right now the analyze is taking about 1 hour per partition. The table is used for reporting and will have a nightly load of the previous days data.
What would be the best way to analyze this table? Besides using a low value for ESTIMATE and using low GRANULARITY.
    Thank You.

Are you suggesting that the table is so big, its not feasible to analyze anymore?I'm suggesting it's not necessary. I think it's highly unlikely that a nightly load is going to change the stats in any meaningful way, unless you are loading millions of rows. the law of diminishing returns has kicked in.
Remember, the standard advice from Oracle is to gather statistics once and then only bother refreshing those stats when we need to. From Metalink note #44961.1:
"Given the 'best' plan is unlikely to change, frequent gathering statistics has no benefit. It does incur costs though."
What you might find useful is to export the stats from your last run before you do the new run (you should do this anyway). Then after the next stats refresh import both sets of stats into dummy schemas and compare them. If the difference is significant then you ought to keep analysing (especially if yours is a DSS or warehousing database). But if they are broadly the same then maybe it's time to stop.
    Cheers, APC

  • IPad Economist app with iOS6

    Hi all,
Unfortunately I encountered the following issue - this is a copy of my email to the Economist:
Regrettably I updated my iPad to iOS6 today. The immediate result is that my Economist subscription is no longer recognised in the iPad app - I do not have access to the latest articles.
Can Apple look into this please?
    Thank you.
    M

    1. Double-click the Home button to close all Inactive Apps in Task Bar
    2. Hold the Apps in Task Bar down for a second or two until you see the minus sign
    3. Tap the minus sign to close Apps
    4. Tap center of screen to return to Home Screen
    5. Reset iPad. Hold the Sleep and Home button down for about 10 second until you see the Apple logo. Ignore the red slider

  • What is the best YouTube app with best quality?

I need to know the best quality YouTube app that has good speed, picture/video, and is popular/has all the videos on the web/ YouTube .....
    - As iOS 6 ridded the YouTube app.

On either iPad or iPhone/iPod Touch, The most direct and straightforward option is to use youtube.com from Safari. When the page loads, tap the Share button and select Add To Home Screen so you will have an icon like you did in iOS 5. When you make a video full screen, it will load the best quality it can within the constraints of your bandwidth and screen resolution (whether it's an iPad, iPad 2, or iPad (3rd generation) with Retina Display).
On iPhone the most direct and straightforward option is the YouTube app, developed by Google and available in the iOS App Store.
There may be third-party apps that do different things with various degrees of finesse, but try the simple approach that for your device first; you may be happy with it. And do share your findings here if you discover a good third-party app for this!
