If you bought from eBay, start a complaint to get a refund. If you bought
directly from the seller, contact him. If you cannot contact the seller, give all
the information to the police so they can pursue a fraud case.
When the time comes to get a new iPhone, buy from Apple or an Apple

  • Best conversion for the web site

    Hi Folks
I made a Video with my HD camera and made a nice movie in iMovie HD 6 in 1080i-30. what is the best conversion to view it on my web site. I have tried a few of the settings but none thrill me. all either too small or too square. What are the best settings for wide screen conversion for the web?
    Thanks
    Don

    hey everyone
just wanted to say thanks, I have been working on my 1st iMovie project and had a few questions and everyone here was great
I finished my 1st iMovie project yesterday and posted it to the web site today
    http://www.pspartyband.com/Live%20Video%20Clips.html
I just bought the Cannon HV20 camera on Monday 5/7/07 and shot this Video on Tuesday night 5/8/07. I have never owned a Video camera before and true to the advertisement the canon was just point and shoot and I got pretty decent Video. We passed the camera around to everyone in the band so that everyone could shoot a little and everyone could be in the video. next time I think i'll bring a friend to shoot so we can just play.
I had no problem at all importing the video from the HV20 into iMovie as some here have been experiencing. I thought iMovie was very easy to use and since I am used to working in Logic Pro I know to hit save every couple of edits, just in case of a crash, which it did a couple of times
anyway thanks again and let me know what you think of my video

  • How best to handle multiple web sites using iWeb 08

I currently am using iWeb08. I am maintaining two websites; The church site resides on a Rogers server. I use Transmit as a FTP loader. The other site is an engineering society's website that is posted on Apple's server. I have an ME account just for the latter group. iWebsites is used to alternate between the two sites. The church group has a .ca web address.
Is it worth upgrading to iWeb 09? How does iWeb09 handle 2 websites? I wish I could publish both to the Mac account but have not figured out how. I must retain the rogers account for viewing the church site
Has anyone deleted iWebsites from OX10.5.6? How was it done? I know that backups are mandatory before attempting these changes.
    Thanks,
    Bill

In its current form, iWeb '09 doesn't handle publishing well at all!
I keep all my sites on separate domain files, each in their own folder. Any site is launched in iWeb by double clicking the domain file. I start each new site from a new, blank domain file.
I keep all my website folders in a folder in a second dock so that I can launch any site with two mouse clicks - faster than you can launch iWebsites!
You can publish as many sites as you want to one MobileMe account but you can only have domain name forwarded as Cname. Any more have to use masking with all its inherent problems.
I would be more inclined to dump MobileMe and publish both sites to a decent hosting company.
The new iWeb '09 FTP works for some. I have tested it with my server - Host Excellence - which doesn't force you to upload to a Public_html folder and this goes as planned.
Having said that, I still publish to a local folder as I optimize and upload my files using Web Site Maestro. Once you have published your site for the first time, this application will then use its Smart Handling feature to process the changed files only.
Unless all your viewers use Macs you have to optimize to get your pages to download in that browser that all the Fred Flintstones of the world use.

  • Best way to Capture Web Sites

This is a question from a colleague of mine.
"Is there a better way to do web captures than by filming the screen?"
I recommended taking screen shots of each web site for better control - but apparently it's a lot of steps and web sites to show and that would take too long.
Any suggestions I can give her?

Never mind - found a repeat thread.

  • Iphone imei checking different for 4s and 5s

I am using iphone 5s 64GB white. when i check my imei number it doesnt show the info about the colour or memory capacity but all other details are provided is it like that?
My 4s 64GB is showing colour memory and colour too!

No 3rd party has legitimate access to that information. All you're doing is giving an untrusted entity access to your IMEI number, which they can then abuse.

  • IPhone on certain Web sites...

    Hello all,
I purchased a ticket over Fandango Thursday and got the confirmation number email which came through the iphone.
I went to the theater to watch the movie and figured since I have the confirmation number through the email (which had a link to pick up the confirmation number) I would do that rather than print it out.
Well I kept getting a page to "sign in" where the link on a regular computer sent me to the correct "page".
What the question is, is this a problem with iPhone not able to get all the web pages even though it is suppose to? Or is this a problem with the Fandango website not accepting information from the iPhone. I realize this is a vague question...I guess has anyone else had this problem?
    Sean

I think those Fandango pages go away after a certain period of time. In other words that final confirmation number page expires and you can't get it again. You have to print a PDF of the receipt when you get it.... I might be wrong but this has been my experience (pre iPhone).
I don't know what your other strategy would be. You'd have to do it on your regular computer, print a PDF to file and then email that file to your iPhone.
Again, I may be wrong -- or not remembering right -- about the basic problem with Fandango, but I believe it's an expiration issue at Fandango.

  • Creating iPod touch/iPhone web sites with iWeb

I have a web site created with iWeb, i was woundering if it's possible to create a web site specifically for the iPod touch/iPhone platform . Or is there some tamplates in iWeb for creating iPhone/iPod touch web sites ?

Here's a site I created with the iPad in mind.
    http://ipad.dailynews.webege.com/
    I used a template from iWork's Pages.
Then I made a page setup for the width and height of the iPad screen : 1024x768 or rather 768x1024.
The paper size = 28,40 x 34,50 cm. The papersize is slightly larger because I had a background in mind but changed that later.
The display percentage is 100% so it will look the same as in iWeb.
I copy/pasted the objects from Pages to iWeb.
Then used the iPad simulator to view it. Hopefully it's the same with a real iPad.
See if you accomplish the same for the iPhone/iPod touch.

  • Multiple Web Sites on OS X Mavericks Server

I want to run multiple test web sites off my home Mac OS X Mavericks Server 10.9 can someone point me to a good "How to" on the specific of how to use the Server application to create and operate multiple web sites of a single Mavericks Server?
    Example
    MyServer.inno.com          10.0.2.5
Basic web is up and running....
I want to host four other web sites off the same machine for testing purposes how do I do that?
    MyServer.inno.com          10.0.2.5
    MyServer.web1.com          10.0.2.5
    MyServer.web2.com          10.0.2.5
    MyServer.web3.com          10.0.2.5
    MyServer.web4.com          10.0.2.5
so if I go to the server and load
         MyServer.web1.com          10.0.2.5
it load a different web server.
My thought is to use virtual host how does Apple / Community recommend I set this up...
    T.

Please do not squat in the "home.com" domain.  If you're going to use a bogus domain, please use a bogus to-level domain such as server.home.jarvis — .jarvis is not currently a valid top-level domain, though that might change with the way ICANN has been bringing many new top-levels online, so a real registration is safer here.
    Peter Jarvis wrote:
    Assumptions:
         1. The Server is not intended to be publicly accessable from the Internet
How will it be accessed?  Entirely privately?  No external access?  OK.
         2. Private Network - 10.0.1.X
I'd probably pick something a little further into 10, such as 10.8 or 10.10, or 10.20.1.x — if you're ever using a VPN, it's best to use a weirder subnet, and I've worked with several folks that have 10.0.1.0/24 subnets.
         3. DHCP Reservation for the Mac Server - 10.0.1.2.
I usually prefer keep the server and the other fixed-address hosts outside the DHCP pool.
         4. Server Domain name MacServer.home.com
Are you the registrant for the home.com domain?  (I'd tend to doubt that, and would therefore suggest use of a real and registered domain or subdomain that you have permission to use or (less desirably) use a bogus top-level domain.)
         5. Example Web Site http:www.rouxacademy.com to also run off the same server...
Is that going to be public?
    Prequisites:
         1. Static Server IP Address / DHCP Reserved IP Address against MAC Address
         2. DNS Service Configured and Running
         3. Web Service Configured and Running
         4. Example Web Site http:www.rouxacademy.com
         5. You have a basic website (with mysql) files available
Directory roux_academy (Contains Basic Web SIte files etc)
    OK.
    Steps:
         1. Static Server IP Address / DHCP Reserved IP Address against MAC Address
The Airport Airport allows you to Reserve and IP address against a MAC (Media Access Control) physicall address of Server Ethernet Card. You can do this or have the Airport allocated DHCP address from 10.0.1.50 and above and statically allocate the server address of the machine.
I'd leave the server out of the address pool.  So long as the pool and all static IP hosts are in the same block (usually a 255.255.255.0 or /24 subnet) it'll all work, and you won't need to entangle the OS X Server with the DHCP server.
         2. DNS Service Configured and Running
Install Mavricks, install OS X Server application, launch server app...
Go to DNS tab, define a new host name MacServer.home.com and associate with 10.0.1.2 IP Addresss
    Start DNS Service...
Note: DO not publish DNS service via airport to Internet...
Other than not squatting in that domain, yes.  There's no reason to open TCP or UDP port 53 inbound.
         3. Web Service Configured and Running
    Go to Web Sites tab...
Click + and create new web site entry
    Domain Name:                http:www.rouxacademy.com
    IP Address:                     Any
    SSL:                               None
    Store Files in:                /Volumes/dev/Library/Server/Web/Data/Sites/roux_academy
Who can access:          Anyone # I would restrict to a single user
    Additional Domains:     rouxacademy.com
no http: prefix there, but yes.
If you're not exposing the server to the 'net (as mentioned above) there's probably no need to restrict.  If you do need to restrict, you'll need to edit configuration files for Apache, or some other technique — maybe a VPN, if you're allowing (controlled, VPN-based) inbound access into your network.
    Start Web Service...
         4. Back to DNS
    Add host name....
    www.rouxacademy.com / 10.0.1.2
    # Do not create an MX record or publish DNS via airport...
AirPort does not know from MX records, and does not provide DNS services.  AirPort will know about your local DNS server, since you are apparently using the AirPort for DHCP.
You can also add the DNS translation during step 2; Apache and DNS are not tightly linked here.
    Launch Safari and type
www.rouxacademy.com          - should launch web site...
rouxacademy.com                   - should launch web site
Caveat: the Real rouxacademy.com will not be accesable from the server or local machines on 10.0.1.X network...
Ah, so there's a key detail — you're playing games and mimicking a real web site?  OK.
The rouxacademy.com web site will be accessible from the server, as that'll (also) have the DNS translation (and remember the basis for virtual hosting is the client — the server in this case — has a translation for the host — the rouxacademy.com or www.rouxacademy.com domain in this case — and passes that string over the HTTP or HTTPS connection to the web server.   If you really want to keep the server from accessing this web site, then you'll have to push the local translation of that domain into the hosts file, or to a separate DNS server.
I'd try to avoid this configuration though, particularly as your references to MX earlier implies that this domain might be more active than just the web services discussed here — trying to run split-horizon DNS means you'll get what's internal and external somewhat tangled, and you'll have to keep mail — for instance — aimed outside and web services aimed internally.  This is possible for many cases, but gets tricky.
Best to test the web site with a different domain name, and to use /-relative notation for accessing the files, or using the web content management system's configuration settings to control the "published" name of the site.

  • Developing a web site (NOT just gallery web pages)

Web Galleries are great but I want to build a site around them. LR supplies what I need to upload galleries (look, color choices, etc) but I want to build a site using galleries as pages.
That would probably employ frames in HTML so I can have a Home Page with a menu that would be on every page, even those uploaded from LR.
If there are any tutorials out there on how to best manage building a web site using LR galleries, I would be grateful for the direction.
    Thanks for your help.
    Terry

If you are using drop down menus for your navigation you will have problems with both galleries and frames. They don't allow the menus to overlap. However, there is a solution.
    1. Use an iframe for the galleries pages. Your main page is the full screen size so the menus don't hit the edge.
    2. Edit the index.html file created by Lightroom. Near the bottom there is a parameter called 'wmode' change 'window' to 'transparent'
Making these changes will allow drop down menus to overlap the gallery. Take a look at my site, www.aginphotography.com, for an example.
    Good luck
    Arthur
p.s. my web site is still a work in progress

  • Safari keeps going back a page while typing in text on web sites

While on any web site typing in the text boxes and when veiwing web pages, Safari goes back a page by its self. Does anyone know what to do or is this thing disfunctional after year. I tried going back to my wireless keyboard but still does it. I real be real lucky to finish typing this before it goes back and I lose what I have typed.  I am just about ready to go to Best Buy or HP web site and purchase a new HP I7 with Windows 7

Try deleting your Safari preference file...
Quit Safari and go to ~/Library/Preferences/ folder ("~" represents your user folder) and delete all .plist files that belong to Safari. I think the file name is com.safari.plist or something similar. Just drag the file to the trash. Relaunch Safari and test if the issue is still happening.
A word of caution, when you delete your Safari plist file you'll have to reset all your browser settings as they will return to the delfault.
If you keep having problems I suggest reinstalling Safari from the Apple Website.
    Download Safari 5.1.2 for Mac
    Hope this helps!

  • We are evaluating the use of iPod touch devices to record best practice videos on our manufacturing floor and to post to an internal Moodle web site. How can you upload a video from the iPod touch to a site other than YouTube?

We are evaluating the use of iPod touch devices to record best practice videos on our manufacturing floor and to post to an internal Moodle web site. How can you upload a video from the iPod touch to a site other than YouTube? The Moodle upload interface is expecting a file selection dialog box like windows or OSX. I do not want to have to go through an intermediary step of messing with a pc.
    Thanks!

It should be around 7 and a half gigs. In iTunes, across the bottom there should be a bar that show how much storage is being used and by what. (music, movies, apps, etc.) To make music take up less room, you can check the box to make it convert the music to 128kbps AAC. This lowers the quality, but with most earbuds and speakers, you can't even tell the difference.
The iPod touch has parental controls built in. You'll find them in Settings. I think they only work for enabling/disabling Safari, Mail, YouTube, and App Store. Here's an app that does more: http://www.mobicip.com/online_safety/ipod_touch

  • Check iTunes account information on Apple web site?

Is there any way to check the status of my iTunes account on the apple web site? Specifically, I'm looking for authorized computers, etc.
    TIA.
    Airmon

We're closing in on the answer, I think, but both of those suggestions involved accomplishing this task via iTunes, which involves reinstalling iTunes, and I'm keen on avoiding that.
That's why I'm trying to do it through the web site, rather than iTunes.
Sorry, I've just had a lot of bad luck with that software and it's taken a fair amount of effort to clean all the stuff it left behind off of my computer.
If the answer is "No, you have to use iTunes. There's no way to accomplish any account management on the apple website.", I can accept that and live without ever knowing the iTunes account information. I'll be done with the iPhone in a month or so and can call Apple support and have them cancel the account.
I was just hoping there was an easy, online way to manage my account like there is with most other stuff...
    Thanks for your time.

  • Can't log into web sites on iPhone 4s.

I recently upgraded from an iPhone 3Gs to an iPhone 4s running iOS 5.0.1.  I've recently noticed that on the iPhone, I can't log onto any web site that requires my ID and password.  Basically the information is not recognized by the web site.  I had no problem logging onto these same sites on the old 3Gs. I've checked that the IDs and passwords are being entered correctly.
If I use my iPad of my MacBook Pro, I can log onto theses same web sites without a problem.  I've tried resetting the iPhone but that has not fixed the problem.
The log in problem only happens on the iPhone.
Web sites that don't require an ID and password seem to be working fine on the iPhone.
Has anyone else run across this issue?  Any ideas how to correct it?
    Regards,
    David

Many web sites requiring username/password use cookies during authentication.  Be sure Settings | Safari | Accept Cookies is set to something other than Never.  I recommend From visited.  I think iOS 5 defaults this setting to Never, a difference from prior iOS versions.

  • Good iPhone optimized Web Sites?

    All,
I would like to ask what good iPhone optimized Web Sites, people use. I have created my own web page would would like to add links to cool sites.
Check out my new iPhone optimized web site At:
    ihttp://homepage.mac.com/mgural/iPhone.html
It offers a quick web search, with the ability to search Google, Yahoo, Wikipedia, Digg, Flickr + 12 other Great searches, all from one search form. Link buttons to many great iPhone optimized sites. The whole site is orientation sensitive, and rotating you iPhone to the left and right, will change the page, and may also reveal some hidden surprises. Have fun, and let me know what you think.

Optimized websites are a far cry from prior "WAP" or "mobile" sites. They're generally text only and very limited in what they can display. iPhone optimized sites are simply sites optimized for a touch interface (interface widgets of a certain size and other tips listed here. http://developer.apple.com/iphone/devcenter/designingcontent.html )
They are still able to use the full power of Safari to create really sophisticated and graphic powered interfaces. In some cases, the site can also be designed so as to be an easier download over EDGE. As long as the site author allows me to choose a full version of their site by choice (when I have WiFi), then I've no problem with optimized sites.
