Best(ish) web browser ever for WM6.1

Hi guys- I searched the forums for 'Skyfire' and got zero hits, so I thought I'd put the word out about this beta product.
Skyfire is a mobile browser that renders most web pages, including pages that rely on flash and java, perfectly on my Treo 800w. It is AWESOME. It is currently free, and I don't think they've said what the fee schedule will be post-beta, but it uses a lot of serverside processing, so I can't imagine it will be free whenever it goes live.
Anyway, it has a few issues (pandora.com and a couple other sites I like, humourously enough including Skyfire's Flash-enabled support stuff) don't work properly), but overall it is a giant amongst midgets in the world of web browsers that my Treo will run. Forget half-arsed Flash Lite thingies that don't work right. Go get Skyfire for free while it's still free!  http://www.skyfire.com
Post relates to: Treo 800w (Sprint)

Skyfire will be the new standard until mobile devices can handle the regular web. I have it on two phones. I have it on the 800w and on the Mogul. I had to sign up seperately with another email. You can change your number, but not add one. Hope they don't mind. In fact I am writing this post in Skyfire right now. I love it even if it has a few issues, but I am sure they can get those worked out.
Anyone who hasn't got it yet should go sign up. I have always been just about ready to pay for opera, but haven't. I would pay for this tomorrow, even in beta form. Great post and I cannot agree more.

  • Whats the best, fastest web browser in 2013 ?

whats the best, fastest web browser in late 2013 using mavericks on haswell MBP ?

posting questions and answers on this board are optimized a little better with Safari, and its easier to work with, however I still prefer Firefox for this board.
Also some websites dont process Amazon.com or other ordering things right with Firefox, a couple Airlines I use are the same, must use Safari for them, or Chrome (which I dont use)
So I use Safari for those.
see all the neat addons for Firefox at:
    https://addons.mozilla.org/en-US/firefox/
there are quite a few for Safari too, but not nearly as many.
I dont like Safaris search word feature, its too awkward, Firefox is very easy and fast.
what one has, the other is better at and vice versa....which is why most prosumers use MORE than one web browser.
Consider the installing of the free ADDON called "Ghostery" for Firefox or Safari,  it removes all Youtube commercials. (ie adware)
    isnt that nice?
many such examples like this,  one is good with this,.....other is better at that.... etc.

  • Internet Explorer web browser app for iphone 4?

Is there an IE web browser app or one that mimics EI?

    Julian Wright wrote:

You're not going to get something more like a desktop browser (if that's what you mean by regular) on any device with a 3.5 inch screen.
    Safari seems limited.
In what way? Safari is almost universally regarded as being the best mobile browser on any device. It's support for web standards, and its rendering engine are far better than what you are used to in IE.
Exactly what do you feel is missing?
Are you referring to Safari's HTML rendering engine (it's ability to display websites accurately), or features of the browser itself?
Well I guess I was expecting too much for a phone browser. But thanks for the info on Safari.

  • Web browser update for 5th ed.

nokia should give browser 7.3 update to s60v5 devices which is available with symbian anna or atleast give existing 5th ed. browser 7.2 an update to webkit ver. 533 or 534 for stable browsing.

Uh, again do not compare PC to mobileOS. web browser update is given to S^3. They have Flash 4.0...
You asking them to rewrite a Qt based app so it could be compatible to s60v5? I doubt they'd do that. Yes the webkits are the same, but what you are asking is not simply rewriting, thats making an entirely new app all over again. Making an entirely new browser again, and integrating that again to a new firmware. EVEN IF the do that, it would only go to the newer s60v5 phones, like the C5-03. Why? Most likely performance issues, the C5-03 has 600Mhz procs, the other s60v5? 434Mhz. This is one of the reasons s60v5 is dead. The hardware is just so outdated. And from your pic you're using a 5800? I doubt that phone will ever receive another update after v52. Nokia has a history of only supporting a phone with updates for only a maximum of 2 years. Even if they do release new updates, the 5800 would not probably get any.
Second. Do you actually think Nokia would still give s60v5 phones these updates? They've practically stopped making s60v5 except for really cheap ones to sell (and really cheap phones dont usually get updates).
Companies are like this. If they've got something new, they put it in new phones and force you to buy the new stuff. I doubt that they would spend more time and money on the already dying S60v5, and would concentrate on S^3 already. Its the same for every company. Older/cheaper models get left out of the update lists etc. Its just like that. Its capitalism.

  • What's the best way to browse keystrokes for ornament fonts?

I have a number of fonts that are non-alphabet ornaments, such as Monotype Rococo and Adobe Woodtype. I can look at a selection of the ornaments in Font Book, of course, but if I see an ornament I like, I have to guess which key to hit to get it. If it's the first ornament in the top row, of course I know I use capital A, but God help me if it's someplace in the middle of the fourth row. The obvious solution -- opening Keyboard Viewer and choosing the ornament font as the displayed typeface on the keys -- is unavailable due to some technical limitation of the later OS's that I don't understand.
Character Palette sort of works, but very clunkily. Basically, I pull up the latin alphabet, then go down to choose the ornament font in the Collections window below and then click letter by letter above. I do see the ornament each key gives me. But I'm seeing them one at a time and am giving up the at-a-glance scan of the available ornaments I'd have just by looking at a keyboard.
If anyone has a better way of browsing keystrokes for this kind of font, I'm very, very interested!
    Thanks.

On re-reading and following your directions, I really should have given you 10 pts. for that answer, Tom, and not 5.  I'd somehow misunderstood the glyph view, thinking it was only a matrix of a certain standard, limited set of symbols, like arrow dingbats and such. I see the way it works now, and it's quite practical.
    Thanks very much.

  • Best SOAP Web Services Architecture for E-Commerce

    Hi there,
I have developed an E-Commerce system following the normal way of
developing Java web applications (all classes and JSP files in one Eclipse web project).
I want to modularize the application, I want to split the application into
    two applications:
    1. The core app, with SOAP web services methods
    2. The client (front-end JSP files and some servlets to request/receive responses from the SOAP web services core app)
Basically, I want the servlets in the client app to call the core SOAP web services app for data such as
get product by ID, get customer by ID, etc...
The core SOAP web services app would then return a response in an XML format, which I then
would map to Java objects at the client application.
    My questions are:
    1. Is this the right way to go?
    2. Where should the session management be? At the client app?
    Hope you can help?
I have been thinking about a proper architecture for 2 years and honestly it's been giving me sleeping problems.
    Thanks!

    It works. Thanks,

  • The Best Java Web Services Technology for Developing Web Services

    Hi,
I am new to Web services world.
I read the java web services page . there are more than 6 technologies.
    JAX-WS,
    JAX-RPC,
    JAXB,
    SAAJ,
    JAXP,
    WSIT,
    XWS-Security
I went through several documents on web services.
I could not get a clear idea of which technolgy to use.
Which Java web service technology will be the best to develop web services independant of language, platform.
or is there any 3rd party implemetations available ? for rapid development of web services.
    Could anyone help me !.
    Thanks in advance.

Which Java web service technology will be the best
to develop web services independant of language,
    platform.
Java by nature is a cross-platform language, so if your focus is on the need for portability, the choisce of WS should not be a problem. However, each WS is best suited for paricular uses.
SAAJ, a low-level level API, offers much simplicity, but is not the first choice for programmers, as SOAP (Simple Object Access Protocol)messages need to be constructed piece by piece, making it a quite arduous code to program.
If you are not familiar with XML, your best bet would be to use JAX-RPC (Java API for XML-Remote Procedure Calls), as it hides the underlying detail from the programmer, in terms of SOAP and XML. The shortcoming with RPC-based WS is that it is "restricted to the local programming experience". Another failing is that assumes there is a network path- a reliability concern.
If your program will be contacting other services during downtimes, unlike JAX-RPC, JAXM is quite useful. However, your listing did not mention it, so I wont cover it.
JAXR is a client-side only API that acts as an interface between registries (not referring to JAXP)
I am not famiiar with JAXB, JAXP, WSIT or XWS-Security..
or is there any 3rd party implemetations available ?It depends on what platform you are used to. Assuming you are familiarized with the J2EE platform (now changed to Java EE SDK), the NetBeans IDE (either 5.5, 5.5.1 or the latest editiion) is quite useful. I am using 5.5.1, but have found that it is quite buggy, especially when adding WS operations, a core requirement of a WS. if you will be using to devlop a service for an immediate need, you may find the learning curve to be a bit high, in terms of getting to grips with how to use it. (Download link:
    http://www.netbeans.info/downloads/index.php)
The IBM Autonomic IDE (or AIDE), based on the WSDM standard, includes 3 sub-tools, icluding the IBM Manageability Endpoint Builder which, according to their website, allows individuals to build endpoints to allow manageability interface exposure; Manageable Resource Browser and the IBM Manageability Endpoint Simulator. However, I'm not familiar with this IDE. (Download link: http://www.alphaworks.ibm.com/tech/aide/download)
The .NET Framework uses the Visual Studio IDE. For an unbiased comparison of J2EE and the .NET Framework in terms of WS, see http://www.webservicesarchitect.com/content/articles/hanson01.asp.
Apache Axis2, Geronimo and JiBX allows fast development of WS, or so the creators profess.
The PHP environment- you could try NuSPHERE PHPed. According to one website, with it you can develop a web service in under an hour.
I hope this was useful to you.

  • Unable to open PDF in Web Browser and delay for printing

In my LAN, on several PCs running with Windows 7 (32 and 64 bits), I observe two problems with "Acrobat Reader XI":
    - Delays / unable to open pdf files in the web browser (Internet Explorer).
    - Delays in printing: for example it takes over 8 minutes to print a pdf file: 400kB for two pages (on different printers / models).
Here's the list of actions that I've allready tried to issue those problems:
For the Web Browser problem :
    - Repair the "Acrobat Reader XI" installation.
    - Uninstalling and Installing Acrobat Reader.
    - In the web browser, disabling and activating the add-on (Adobe PDF Reader).
    - Uninstall "Acrobat Reader XI" and install "Acrobat Reader X"
Temporary issue: downgrade to "Acrobat Reader 9", which solves the problem with the web browser.
    For the printing delay:
    - Repair the "Acrobat Reader XI" installation
    - Change the printers drivers (install Universal Drivers PCL)
    - Check the box: "Print As Image" before printing
    Any Idea ?

You can get that error if there is still an old Adobe Reader plugin in the plugins folder in the Firefox program folder.

  • Capturing web browser events in the labview

    Hi,
I am using the Web browser on my front panel (Lab View 8.2) and I can type in the URL and it opens up the website on my front panel. I want to listen to the events happening in the web browser. For example if I click a link on the web page being displayed on my front panel and it opens up a Windows file browser, then how can I listen to this event?
What I am trying to acheive is to automate the process of saving the file if the windows file browser opens up asking for the location for saving the file.
    Thanks.

You need to use event callbacks for the active X component. You can see some examples in the example finder. I think one even uses the web.

  • How to launch my java application in a web browser?

Hi. I try to launch my java application, e.g. "HellowWorld.java", using web browser.
    1. How can I change my java application program to java applet in general way?
I read "Java: An Introduction to Computer Science and Programming, Third Edition"
by Walter Savitch and found page 803 - "Converting a Swing application to an applet".
My question is how I can know which class should be removed or not such as using JApplet instead of JFrame. Are there general rules about this?
    2. I found "AWT only" tutorial had some example lauching application using "AppletButton".
How can I use this method to launch "HelloWorld.class"?

(after extracting zip file) -> ../OLDui/layout/card.html
    3. (continued 2) Can I use above method to embed applet into web browser?
For example, java Swing application -> applet using "AppletButton" -> web browser using "<applet></applet>" tag.
I'd appreciate any partial anwers of these questions or other suggestions.

Yes - The NMH is a local network device, and you can store/retrieve files on it using the computers on your home network using either Windows Explorer, or connecting to it in Linux/MacOS as a Samba share.
However: The NMH requires an Internet connection to dowload firmware updates, and - If my experiences today are anything to go on - You'll need to have up to date Flash support in your web browser to be able to configure and administrate the thing.
(See the new thread that I'll be posting in this forum shortly.)

Yes - The NMH does support uploading via a web browser as long as the latter has a recent Flash plugin installed. For small numbers of files, this should work fine...But for larger numbers of files, I'd suggest using either Windows Explorer, or the Media Importer program that came on the enclosed CD-ROM. :-)
You can find full details and instructions for doing both of the above in the NMH 4xx user guide, which may be downloaded Here. :-)
