Best Keyboard Customizations

Please let me know what you find are the best keyboard customizations while editing in Pr. /Just a side note: (I am also a Ps and Lr user.)/
I would like to know how everyone has the F1 - F12 keys set up. I know of course that it is "customizable" and everyone's workflow is different, but I would love to see what works for others. For starters, where do you put your 1.) cross fade/dissolve and 2.) audio/fade

Also, what would that file looke like that would go on a flash drive/stick? What's the ext? .kys? Where would you find it to drop it on to a stick? (I am only editing on 1 desktop and 1 laptop, but I would like to know)

But now I am wondering if I am doing this correct... When you change or add the KC (keyboard customization), if you just hit ok, it doesn't seem to save it.
Do I SAVE AS? If I keep going in and tweeking it,I notice it always brings up [custom] vs. the one I saved: MB. Do I need to save as and over ride it each change? Does it always bring up custom? Can I set it to bring up MB? Thanks

T61: Keyboard Customizer for Windows 7

Hello Everyone,
today I upgraded from Windows XP(32bit) to Windows 7 (64bit). After setting up the operating system I used Lenovo System Update to install all necessary drivers etc. But finally I recognized, that there is no "Keyboard Customizer for Windows 7" on the Lenovo website . In the office I'm using my laptop in an advanced minidock and have an external keyboard (Lenovo Enhanced USB keyboard) for input.
Using the Keyboard Customizer it was possible to emulate the missing Fn-Button on the external keyboard for example using Strg+Alt+Fx. This way it was possible to use all the combinations of Fn+F2 to Fn+F12 with an external keyboard.
What can I do to get this functionality on Windows 7 systems?
There is not installer in the download section for T61 (only Windows XP and Windows Vista). Does anyone know if Lenovo will provide one later on or if the Version for Windows Vista can be used?

Have you tried running the ThinkVantage System Update program to update any Windows Vista-era ThinkVantage software on your T61 to their applicable Windows 7 counterparts?

Importing Keyboard customization settings

Hey Guys,
I am new to this forum.
I am having some issues exporting an OMF from CS4, it has been crashing like crazy. So I figured I would reinstal the program.
My question is, can I import my previous keyboard customization settings. If so, how?

I have a ThinkPad USB Keyboard with TrackPoint (55Y9053),
I install the driver 1.0.7 and Keyboard Customizer Utility 1.0.01 for it.
But, Browser Back/Forward Key of my ThinkPad USB Keyboard with TrackPoint (55Y9053) can't control by Keyboard Customizer Utility.
Keyboard Customizer Utility only work for my keyboard of R61.
Somebody can help me, plz?

I have an SK-8845 that I like a lot and I've been running driver version 1.06. I didn't even know that 1.08 was out. I'm not an employee, so I don't have any insight on future driver releases. I've had some scrolling issues myself in some programs, but after I did this, I haven't had any issues.
I just installed your driver, (1.08) and everything seems to be working okay. I haven't tested it fully yet. I saved my old driver though, just in case.

Best Keyboard?

Making the switch to FCP from AVID. Would like some opinions on the best keyboard. Have a Logic now, really don't like the feel. Had an EZ years ago and I recall liking it very much. Any thoughts?

I was getting kind off frustrated with the GB keyboard not keeping up with my texting speed so I decided to investigate a new replacement solution and I ran into a app called Smart Keyboard Pro and I can say this app is incredible, got a large amount of themes and options to add more and also supports a number of launguages..

Everyday I use this keyboard it keep surprising me, I went to use the voice command app through keyboard and realize it added a new option… Now it gives you a list to select text of what you just said so if it gets it wrong you do not have to delete and try again it usually has the correct one on the list.
Once again I have to say this…. THIS IS THE BEST KEYBOARD ERVER!!!!

that's kind of like asking - what guitar should I use with GB? There are tons of guitars and tons of keyboards, so the "best" one has to do with what is best for you, your budget, your preferences.
M-Audio makes good bang-for-the-buck keyboard controllers, so they are often well-matched with GB. And they work fine with your iMac as well.
If you're looking for something with semi-weighted keys, I would recommend their Axiom series. I'd recommend getting one with enough octaves so you're not frustrated by a lack of notes.
If you want a weighted keyboard, they make that too (the keystation Pro). Here's M-Audio's page of keyboard controllers:

Their digital pianos would also work (as would those from other manufacturers like Yamaha, Roland, etc.) and include their own sounds so you can use them away from the computer:

I'm not big on any keyboards that don't have at least semi-weighted keys, although maybe that's not something you care about, and if you're looking for the cheapest solution, something with "synth action" - basically, tiny springs - might be sufficient.

Keyboard customization in FCE

Hello,
Question: is there a way to customize keyboard shortcuts in FCE as it is possible in FCP? Specifically, Control-v shortcuts to "add edit" in FCP, but it can be customized. So… is there a shortcut i missed for adding an edit point in FCE—and can we customize the keyboard also? And if not, what is the easiest way to add edit points? Can i do it with markers?
To be precise, i would like to add edit points to a slug the way it was demonstrated in a Creative Cow iTunes videocast (Tapping Out the Beat, part 1), so i can easily edit my clips to the beat of the soundtrack. Thanks for the help.

What is the best keyboard case for the 15" Macbook Pro Retina?

I currently just bought the new 15" Macbook Pro Retina display to replace my old 2007 Macbook 13" however I am reluctant to use it until I find a keyboard cover. I have read many forums already and tried the Moshi keyboard cover (which didn't fit well at all) however I still cannot decide which keyboard cover to use. So far I have found two keyboard covers that look O.K. any help with this problem would be greatly appreciated.

Re engineering of existed process / Best Practice (customization)

We are implementing SAP ECC 6.0 for one of our clients. Client is asking us to compare their existed business process with Best Practice / standard process and based on the result, asking to prepare a GAP analysis between the existed and best practice for his business.
SAP itself is a best practice in the respective domains / business processes. By implementing SAP ERP, the client will have best practice for his business processes as I know. But thing is, how can I explain to the client that SAP has given the best practice and based on which, client will consider the SAP practice as Best Practice for the business??

I'm not sure deleting keys from the registry is ever a best practice, however Xcelsius has listings in:
HKEY_CURRENT_USER > Software > Business Objects > Xcelsius
HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE > SOFTWARE > Business Objects > Suite 12.0 > Xcelsius
The current user folder holds temporary settings, such as how you've modified your interface.
The local machine folder holds more important information.
As always, it's recommended that you backup the registry and/or create a restore point before modifying or deleting any keys.
As for directories, the only directory Xcelsius uses is the one you install to. It also places some install logs in the temp directory, but they have no effect on the application.

Keyboard customization CS3 vs CS4

I work a lot with keyboard commands. Now I have updated from CS3 to CS4. Discovered that the ability to assign keyboard commands in CS3 for "Target Video Track Below" and "Target Audio Track Below" is not available in CS4. Someone with the same experience and what to do?

Joe is correct. We're honestly at a loss to keep finding new keyboard shortcuts these days for all of the functions there are.
however, if you're a keyboard junkie, the new track targeting commands should open up faster editing for you.
