Best Mac video converter (file based) - Search is down...

Greetings,
I was planning on doing a search, but it's down at this time...
I'm looking for what's considered to be the best and most flexible file based video converter for the Mac. I need to convert VCD's to a format iMovie 08 can edit to output a DVD (yes, yes, I'm aware of quality between the two, this is what my friend needs...)
With the same software I'd like to do all of the fancy conversion file to file be it FLV, MOV, DAT, MPEG etc.
I've been looking at Aimersoft, iSkysoft, and Video Converter for Mac so far.
Any suggestions and personal experience would be wonderful!

There seems to be no need to rename the file extension. I just selected the file from inside the VCD folder and was recognized as a video file.
It's currently converted, but looks glitchy (not on the original). Maybe this is just a product of playing a high demand file on my MacBook?

  • Which application is the best for video converter?

Which MacBook Pro application is the best for video converter?

Docs to go is a bit more polished i think. It has been around awhile on other platforms and the sync is very well done. It works more as an extension of your desktop. You select the files you want to sync. They can stay where they are on your computer. If changes are made to either they update when you sync.
Quick Office allows you to move documents to and from your iphone and Any computer on any network as well as your iDisk if you have MobileMe. It has a server built in. You just enter the web address into any browser and you can see the folders on the iphone. It will work with Word and Excel fine. It is tricky editing a spreadsheet on such a small screen but it can be done.
Docs to Go has a little bit better editor.
I guess it depends on whether you want to be able to transfer files to a computer other than your own.
    Hope that helps

  • Best free video converter ?

Can someone please tell me what the best free video converter is to go from wmv to mpeg-4?
The wmv file is one of those digital copies that I got when I bought a Blu Ray movie with a free digital copy.  I downloaded the copy to my Windows 7 machine (it plays great on that machine) and I now want to add it to iTunes so I can play it on my iTouch 4G.  Most of the advice I see is for converting from a DVD (like handbrake), but I already have the movie file on my PC and just want to convert it so I can moveit  into iTunes.  Any help would be greatly appreciated.

You can use Handbrake to convert files as well. Just select the file as the source. This will only work if handbrake (or VLC) can decode any encryption that might be present.

  • Whats the best free video converter ?

I am sending out a small mov (DV)  file to a a few dozen people (not clients as this is a free thing).
These people want to be able to convert this avi file down to a MP4 or other formats that will work fine on:
    Mobile phones
    Video frames
    small portable data projectors
    etc
What free video converter would you recommend to these guys?
I thought of AnyVideo Converter which is perhaps the most popular.
But I heard that AVC is dropping some features hoping people with upgrade to their pro version etc.
Han anyone got any comments on what free converter I can recommend to these people?
(These people will have Windows computers .... sorry ... :s  )

I don't have any experience with Any Video and what it does with audio _ much less what it was doing for a 4 hour process. You could run it through MPEG Streamclip and change the sampling rate,
Or perhaps post this on the QuickTime forum.
    Good luck.

  • What is the best freeware video converter?

I had been using isquint but it was discontinued. And, I understand that the code of isquint & visualhub has been released. The new snow leopard compatible converters(that I know) that came out of that code are redux encoder & videomonkey.
What is the best current freeware video converter?

"Best" is fairly subjective... I use MPEGstreamclip

  • I borrowed a JVC Everio Camcorder that stores the shot video in a CED format.  How in the world do I play back on my MAC and convert files so I can download to iPhotos and iMovies?

I borrowed a JVC Everio HD Camcorder that shoots video and stores on an SD-Card in a CED format.  I cannot playback this video on my MAC and would also like to know how to convert to a more standard form of video.

I have downloaded the trail....and it won't recognize my .264 files....not sure what the deal is?  Here is a screen shot-they files are "grayed" out....and won't highlight.  Do you see anything wrong?  I'm pulling the files off of a Lorex DVR security system.  LHD200

  • The best free mac video converter for iphone please?

So far i used to add my avi files to my itunes library on my mac using movie2itunes. then i would right click on the movies and choose 'create iphone version'. i was expecting the video size to go down as the resolution and screen size of the iphone is much smaller compared to the resolution of the original avi file and the screen size of my macbook. so for all reasons it had to encode lesser data into the new file. instead, it keeps the same resolution! and while the original size is a mere 300mbs for 60 minutes of videos the new encoded file is a 550 mbs!
so i think using itunes for video conversion is not a very smart way of utilizing space on the iphone. can u recommend me some good, preferably free, video conversion software for mac which is smart enough to convert movies (especially avi) to iphone format and also NOT increase the size, if not decrease it!
google gives a lot of results. so thought making a post would help me narrow it down. thankyou.
i have perian installed and also quick time pro.

Mpeg Streamclip is nice because of options and its free, but I would use iSquint. Its FREE and it converts in very nice quality, with basic options. Trust me it will cover your converting needs. But if you wanna download vids from Youtube and stuff, I would use mpeg streamclip too. Both together are a nice converint combo. I hope I helped:)?

  • Which Is The Best Free Video Converter Software?

Which is the best FREE software for encrypting dvd's for Ipod and which is the best FREE software for converting encrypted dvd videos to my Ipod, or is there out a FREE software that can do both thing?
      Windows XP Pro

    Try this software:
    Firefox or IE7.
    Go to these forums.
    Search these forums.
This question is asked 1000 times a month. So try a search , honest it works. (Google has a few thousand answers as well).
Note DVD's are already encrypted, so you will be looking to decrypt them, then convert to MP4 for iPod..

  • What is the best Youtube video converter for Final Cut Pro?

I want to keep the quality of the video and import into Final Cut Pro to edit. What is the best way to get the video in the correct format?

    I've used FastestTube
    http://fastesttube.kwizzu.com/
usually this allows you to download the files as MP4 files in either 360p or 720p, or as FLV files
I would download as 720p MP4 & convert in compressor to prores, etc for FCP.

  • What is the best FREE video converter?

i need it to be free. i spent all my money on the ipod and now because Apple wants to be cheep, I CANT WATCH VIDEO'S AT ALL!!! somebody help me

    I had the same issue, however I used this program to transfer ...avi,mpg,wma..etc...;
    http://www.videora.com/en-us/Converter/iPod/
I'm pasting this from the Videora site, the settings worked for me when others didn't, enjoy:
    Configuring videora converter
    0) Start Videora iPod converter.
    1) Click setup in the left nav.
    1.5) Click the profiles tab.
    2) Click new profile.
    3) Now, configure that profile:
    profile name: ipod
    in the video settings section...
    mode: MPEG-4 > CBR
    resolution: 320x240
    passes: one
bitrate: 768 kbps (384 kbps also works)
    framerate: 29.97 fps
    in the audio settings section...
    bitrate: 128 kbps
    sample rate: Input
    channels: stereo
    4) Click apply to save the profile.
    Now, you're ready to transcode.
    1) Click convert on the left nav.
    2) Click the transcode new video button.
    3) Pick your source video. Mine was an AVI from a torrent.
    4) Under quality profile, choose "ipod", the profile you created using the steps above.
    5) Click start.
Now you're ready to get the video on your ipod
    1) In iTunes, under the File menu, select add file to library. Find the transcoded one. By default, the transcoded videos pop out under the Videora install directory.
    2) Drag and drop to your ipod.
    Questions/observations:
    1) I haven't been able to get H264 anything to work. Is it broken? How much smaller than MPEG4 is it?
    2) 768 kbps video was about 400 megs/hour; 384 kbps video was about 231 megs/hour. I could readily see a difference in video quality.

  • Need ideas on best ways to convert files for best use on iPad

    Greetings,
As a tech geek that now has an iPad, I am looking for ways to improve the way I perform daily work functions through using the iPad vice a laptop. I am a regional service manager, and as such spend a lot of time on the road. I am hoping the iPad can make that travel easier.
I've already purchased programs such as Documents to Go, Print Central, Keynote, and PDF Expert. I even looked at ServiceMax.
Here is my issue. Currently, our service reports, inspection checklists, and parts ordering forms are all part of one ugly excel file that is 1MB in size and loaded with complicated formulas and macros. I know, having read some in these forums that the macros don't convert well, if at all. I also see that some PDF forms have issues.
ServiceMax was ideal, but it only interfaces with Salesforce.com and not Oracle, which is what we use.
Does anyone have a suggestion for a similar APP to ServiceMax, or an app/program that will allow me to custom create service reports that I and my team can utilize?
    Thanks in advance!

My scan doesn't recognize the above device. If there is no SMNP support in the device, is there anything other than classifying it as a network device that I can do?Also, I have two devices running off of this device by its routerEthernet ports. One is a MS Vista PC, the other is a MS Win 8.1 device. Is it possible to scan through this router to get information about these more moderndevices? If so, how?Likewise, the router is also a wireless access point. I only connect one device to it via Wi-Fi.
