Best Macbook Pro 15" Cooler?

What is the best Macbook Pro 15 inch laptop cooler? I have the new 2011 Macbook Pro 15 inch.

Hi guys ive just brought the Luxa2 cooler and its seriously sweet, Ahhh its also fanless so super quiet and it takes up no USB slots which is a bonus for myself, the only thing i will say is it would be useful if it had adjustable legs, apart from that though i think its perfect looks so sweet on my desk at home.
If you take a look on http://www.thinkcomputers.org/luxa2-m1-pro-laptop-cooler-review/3/ you will be able to find a decent review,
Also if it helps i brought mine from Expansy Uk http://www.expansys.com/luxa2-m1-pro-laptop-cooler-186072/
but there is a few more places that are selling these.
Hope this helps buddy

what is the best macbook pro for video editing dslr footage?

It is the GPU that is important.  All the CPU's will be fast enough.  If you can affords it, the 15" with the NVIDIA GPU is the best.

  • Best macbook pro for gopro editing

hi. i am new to the editing world and would like to get a macbook pro, i would use it for homevideo editing from a gopro, holding music and possibly watching the odd movie on it.
i have no clue on what sort of macbook pro id need but id like a retina display?  what are the pros and cons of retina? and i would also like the macbook pro to not be slow or lag or crash while im edititng.
so if someone out there could write back with exact specifications to what they think would be the best macbook pro for me that would be great.
    thanks
    Ross

The best one is the model without the word "Book" in it...
You don't say what you want to edit, but in general, editing is a horsepower game so you'll want a lot of RAM, a fast system disk/SSD and the fastest processors and video board available. Don't expect to do much on the battery because all those resources (plus your external media drives) will severely limit your battery life.
You may also want an external monitor and plan on either USB 3.0 or Thunderbolt external drives for media and scratch storage. The bigger, the better.
    Hope this helps

  • Best macbook pro specs to run photoshop CC

I'm going to buy a new Macbook pro to run photoshop CC. Thinking a 13 for portability, but the 15 is more robust. What do I need on the specs to run PS CC fast.  I'm planning on 16 GB RAM, I5 processor, 512 SSD.  Is the separate graphics card on the 15 really important to photography editing or is it just for higher end gaming and video? I would need to only consider the 15 if the video card is a deal breaker

Is the 128g drive just a scratch drive?  I may be marginal if you use big files and lots of layers.  Best to have seperate internal physical drives for scratch and program files.
VRAM of 512g is considered min. now.  Can you get 1 gig?
Personally 15" is the smallest I would go.  Am old and a 24" is better viewing for me.

  • Best macbook pro for lightroom 5 and CS photoshop

I have lightroom 5 and CS photoshop and am about to buy one of the new 13" macbook pro.  Which is the best one for these applications

You are welcome.  Just finished a chat session with an Apple support rep and confirmed the matte option no longer available.  Seems lots has changed since I bought my 17” 19 months back:).  They did say that there were after market screen films available from places like amazon
Have never used anything like that though.  My wife has a 2008 MBP 15” with gloss and I can say it is a nice screen finish, you just have to be careful of lighting from behind you.  All my iMacs were glossy and I did learn to compensate for the added brilliance the screen brought to the photos.  The new soft proofing feature of LR5 seems to better estimate the level of brightness of the printed work, compared to past versions of the s/ware.
In any case, in my opinion you really can’t go wrong with the apple product.  I bought my first iMac in mid 1999 and have never looked back.  I donated that machine to a pre-school in 2008, it was running OSX version 2 or 3 I think.  I did run Photoshop 7.0 on an IBM laptop for a time (windows XP).  I think I had one of the very first versions of Adobe Camera Raw on that machine.  I digress, sorry.
The chat representative did confirm that the 17” is out of production and I’m guessing Apple found the market for the big laptop just wasn’t there.  They did mention that 17” MBP’s show up as “certified refurbished” units from time to time.  Suggest you might explore that option with a local Apple store in the UK, assuming  Apple has store front operations off this continent of course.
Please feel free to contact me with further questions if you wish.
    Take care, Gordy

It might help us to advise you if we knew what your budget is.
In the meantime, I can suggest a couple or three items that aren't too expensive.
    1) Your computer has four drive bays. Fill them up with the largest hard drives you can afford. I prefer the Seagate 7200.11 SATA drives. The 1TB version is about $120 each right now. With four drives living in your MP, you can have one boot (system) drive and three media drives. I would NOT RAID them. The 7200.11 drives in a MP will benchmark at around 100 MB/sec, which is plenty fast for your needs.
    2) You have an 8 processor computer and Apple recommends 1GB of RAM per processor for running Compressor batches. So, you should buy 6 X 1GB RAM modules to fill your MP RAM slots. Make sure you buy RAM with Apple approved heat sinks. Crucial.com is a good source.
    3) For back-up and archiving of media files, I recommend firewire drives with removable trays, like the Burly enclosures from MacGurus. You buy the enclosures and the extra trays from MacGurus, then buy the raw drives (Seagate 7200.11) separately from a reliable online vendor, like newegg.com, for the trays. The Burly case is built like a tank, with two fans, so it isn't as likely to burn up drives like some other firewire enclosures.

  • What is the best macbook pro backpack

I am wanting to purchase a macbook pro 13' backpack and i am frustrated with looking so which one is best to keet an mac iphone and ipad in?

When it comes to the best it's impossible to beat the quality produced by Brentheaven. Would Apple feature more Brenthaven products on thier site than any other if they weren't amazing? As far as backpacks for the Macbook Pro the Brenthaven ProStyle Backpack is the top of the line for quality and protection.

  • Best Macbook Pro battery replacement?

My 2.5 year old Macbook Pro's batter is winding down(cycles=446, mAh=1406, etc.). It doesn't hold a charge nearly as well as it used to(neither do I, but that's another story).
What's the best possible type of battery I can get?
Thanks in advance for the advice.

a brody: I am on my 2nd "Apple" battery for what is probably the same MacBookPro as swami [MacBookPro Mid 2008, right before the new ones with the black keys], and it is definitely not, "FAIRLY GOOD". It *****. They both expanded and became useless about 1 year after purchasing (which I am sure was used to dictate the warrenty length '1-year'). Now I have to plug in everywhere again until I get a new one. What I would like to know, as swami should as well, is what other brands offer good alternatives? Let's face it, Apple's batteries for the older MacBookPro's are crap. Who else has had any luck with others? I am definitely NOT buying one from Apple this time, suggestions are needed!

  • Best Macbook Pro for a college art student?

    Why hello everyone
I'm currently a student in college who recently hit a dilemma. I currently own a Dell XPS M1530 from when I was Biology major... however, I recently switched to Art, and I'm beginning to find that I would like to add a Macbook Pro to my collection (I'm keeping my Dell, it's my child lol).
However, I have NO CLUE where to start.
All I know is that I'm paying for this myself, and I'm going to (hopefully) get a payment plan.
This Macbook Pro will be running Final Pro (hopefully) and part of the Adobe collection.
    Any suggestions?
And should I look at refurb models?

    Welcome!
However, I have NO CLUE where to start
The best place to start--at least in Apple Discussions--is in the area for the current MacBook Pros, here:
    http://discussions.apple.com/category.jspa?categoryID=251
The area you posted in is for older MBPs (two years old and older), so people with newer models more like you are looking to buy will be in the other forum. There have been a number of improvements since the MBPs in this forum were released.
The info site for MBPs that CMCSK posted are a great start for comparing features. So is this:
    http://www.apple.com/macbookpro/specs-compare.html
If you are going into Art, you may wish to consider a 15- or 17-inch MBP with the nVidea 330M dedicated graphics chipset instead of the 320M installed in the 13-inch. You should also visit an Apple Store or reseller and see whether you prefer the matte (called "antiglare" in the spec comparison sheet) or glossy display. Most people doing color-critical work seem to gravitate to the matte version.

  • Macbook Pro was cool at first, 5 days later all of a sudden its a microwave

I have looked for anyone else who has had this happen to them and so far havent found anything. I know alot of peoples Macbook Pro's are hot, but the issues for them seem to be from the start. i got mine 5 days ago (31/5/06) and it was fine, no exessive heat issues etc. All of a sudden yesterday night though it has started getting really hot, i mean so hot that you seriously cannot touch the bottom of the thing. I promis i am not blowing this out of proportion. Even when the system is at idle it gets really really hot. I didnt do any software upgrades yesterday so im sure it has nothing to do with that, and as of the day i got the computer all my firmware etc was fully upgraded. Has anyone else experenced the same sudden increase in temperatire? I am worried its going to cook its self! I am seriously thinking about sending it back to see if apple can fix it because the heat of the thing bugs me for the whole time i use it. I would even go as far as saying that using my Macbook Pro is an unpleasant experience because i am constantly worried that at any minet it will fry its self and die. Any advice would be appreciated. I will Call apple technical support and get their take on the situation and then repost what i find out. Thank you

While this is happening to you, open up Activity Monitor and check for a runaway process. This happened to me once and I found out that for some reason, MS Word had started and was consuming both cores. The result was slow response and very hot computer. Maybe you have some application that is starting and running away?

  • What is the best MacBook Pro for me? (Budget = 1500$)

Hello guys, I am looking forward for buying a new MacBook Pro. But I don't know which one. I want a 13 inch model that can run very good. In 2010 I bought a MacBook White and I should probably say that it was worth every penny I spent. I loved it so much but this year the trackpad would not move, lagging is an issue but it still works fine now. I want to buy a new MacBook Pro that is good.
I will use it for the following :
    - Microsoft Word / google docs
    - Photoshop
    - Game programming
    - Gaming (League of Legends, Football Manager 2014/15/16/17)
    - Programming
    - Researching ( EXTREMELY IMPORTANT)
    - Homework
    - And personal use (Facebook, and surfing the web)
My budget is 1500$, okease answer as fast as you can!!

    givemethemac,
if you still have your white MacBook, then it seems like fixing its trackpad and installing more RAM and/or replacing its hard disk with a SSD would cost significantly less than $1500. It sounds as though if the trackpad were fixed and the lagging were resolved, that you would still be happy to use it.

  • Best Macbook Pro 15" for photo editing?

    Hi,
I have to get a MacBook Pro 15" for my work. I'm a photographer, so I will be editing a lot of images with Photoshop, Aperture, plug-ins, etc. + I will connect a large external monitor to it.
I will also have to edit some videos in FCP but not much, and recording some audio using Logic.
My two choices are: MacBook Pro 2.4 GHz (i5) or 2.66 GHz (i7). From what I understood the 2.53 GHz (i5) is not really worthed, since there is almost no difference with the 2.4 GHz.
I was wondering if in your opinion the better graphics of the 2.66 GHz could make a big difference to me.
I don't play any games on my mac.
Thank you so much for your advises
    Have a good day
    Luca

I think you will find the only difference with the Nvidia graphic card between the i5 and i7 is the i5 have 256mb less dedicate vedio RAM than the i7 model. This mades no difference for the tasks you listed.
Both i5 and i7 can display resolution upto 2560 X 1600, so you can connect it to a 30 inch monitor without any problem.
I agree with you the 2.4Ghz model is a good choice, you can use the rest of the money for 6 to 8Gb of RAM upgrade.
The i7 in my MBP only get pushed to the limit when I test software in multiple vitural windows. Most time incl working in Photoshop CS4 in virtual Windows 7, the cpu only operate around 30%. So I don’t think you will notice any performance difference with the 2.4Ghz model.
