I've got the i7 8 gb but with HDD as I needed it quick. I am thinking of getting a samsung 850 pro. I've been doing research but not sure which is best and the info seems to advance as fast I can read it ( ok I've got a job as well- for which I need the usable long lasting computer). I am more interested in reliability and increased robust/durability/longivity. The 10 year warrenty sounds good to me, but is the samsung 850 pro the one to go for? what if money were no object

Thanks, all my research seems to indicate this is the case. I have been looking on this community for steps to take, when replacing, its a t440p, I found the following article, is that about correct? so no need to disable internal battery,
back up and clone according to though that is for m2 as opposed to SDD.

According to my experiments, you have removed all line terminators from the file, and replaced those between lines with a space.
That is to say, you have turned a multi-line file into one long line with no line terminator.
If that is what you want, and your files are not very big, then your echo statement might be all you need.
If you need to deal with larger files, you could try using the 'tr' command, and something like
tr '
' ' ' <file.txt >newfile.txt
The only problem with this is, it will most likely give you a trailing space, as the last newline is going to be converted to a space. If that is not acceptable, then something else will have to be arranged.
However, if you really want to maintain a multi-line file, but remove just the very last line terminator, that gets a bit more complicated. This might work for you:
perl -ne '
chomp;
print "
" if $n++ != 0;
print;
' file.txt >newfile.txt
You can use cat -e to see which lines have newlines, and you should see that the last line does not have a newline, but all the others still do.
I guess if you really did mean to remove all newline characters and replace them with a space, except for the last line, then a modification of the above perl script would do that:

print;
' file.txt >newfile.txt

Believe it or not, I have been limping along with Iphoto 6.0.6 and basically faring fine, given my needs. But I would now like to be able to order prints from my photo library -- and you can't do that any longer with 6. So my question is: what are the things that
can go wrong with the later systems? And is there any way around having that happen?

If you want to sync it to the iPad from that Mac, you need to upgrade it to at least 10.5.8.
If you want to copy the music to another Mac, you don't. Move the iTunes folder of the item in the Finder's sidebar over as you would any other folder. If you put it somewhere other than the Music folder, launch iTunes with the Option key held down and point it to that location.

Thanks all for your answers. I am comparing what you are saying with what I know about my N80 (I have to use 2 batteries a day to keep it on 3G with bluetooth enabled all the time). I am looking for a phone with a battery that will last at least from 7 am to 10 pm in the same conditions.
@moee: altogether, in general. I'm not particularly interested in video calls, but in regular voice calls (using the 3G network) and (lots of) internet browsing and email.
@6280: 2 days with the 6120c or the E61? If it would be the 6120c, it would be an extremely interesting option, given the HSDPA speed ... and I think 6120c uses the same BL-5B battery as the N80.

Mail problems since upgrading to security 2015-002

Since upgrading to security 2015-002 I cannot send or receive emails. I receive an email alert saying the default ports timed out. Prior to the upgrade everything was fine. At present I am deleting all my email setting and reinstalling them but this only works for a short period before timing out again. Does anyone have a solution to this problem

Most robust? MB or MB Pro?

Hi, My 15 month old Macbook is needing repair again, and I'm wondering if I'm just wearing it out, and should really get a MB Pro.
I don't do work that is processor intensive, but my MB is used as my desktop machine with external keyboard, mouse and screen at work, then for a few hours most evening at home for a bit more work. It averages 10 hours a day use.
My work is typical office stuff, emails, website updates, surfing etc. Then at home basic video and photo stuff etc. Like I say I'm not a "power user" in terms of needing lots of processing power, but I'm a heavy user in that it's used a **** of a lot of the time.
So, is the MB Pro a more robust machine than the MB? Is it better able to cope with constant use day in day out? Is it a workhorse?

I don't think your wearing it out. My MacBook is used as a desktop 98% of the time for anywhere from 10 to 16 hours a day for the last 16 months and it is still going strong. As far as I'm concerned the MacBook is a workhorse. Never had a better computer. You just may have bad luck with your MacBook.
