i dont think there is any difference between msi and nvidia more than msi got older drives that the "newbies" can install easy with live update.

  • NVidia firewall stopped working after nForce drivers upgrade

Just for the record, my nVidia firewall stopped working after I "upgraded" from nForce 4.08 (came with the mobo cd) to 4.24 (latest drivers at the nVidia website).
    ...damn nVidia.
    Anyone else have this problem?

Thanks for the reply.  I tried -- to an extent -- what you suggested.  Thinking nVidia was smart   I went on to installing the 4.24 without removing previous drivers/components.  Everything installed except for the network/firewall stuff.  I clicked "yes, install nVidia network stuff" and a fatal error occured a few seconds into the installation.  I then proceeded to uninstalling the network access manager, followed by a retry of the 4.24 installation: same problem.
However, I never uninstalled the nForce drivers themselves.  I will redownload the 4.24 .exe, uninstall everything, and run the .exe.  I'll then proceed to report my crappy results here, in this forum.

  • Nforce drivers which one ? nvidia or msi ?

i need to know which ones gives you max performance ? either nvidia ones or msi's ! .. i had msi nforce3 drivers so i uninstalled them and installed nvidia's ones , i also have a nvidia gfx card , so after installing nvidia nforce drivers i was getting BSOD , so i had to format windows and installed msi's ..
BSOD = may be msi drivers were in the reg and never got uninstalled properly  so i m gettin BSOD so you get BSOD if u put nvidia nforce3 having a nvidia gfx card?
so how many of you are using nvidia's ? and which ones better?
    my os windows xp sp2

    I've always used nvidias drivers , realtek's sound drivers  . Now latest 5.10 .
    Xp sp2 no problem here.
MSI drivers are made by nvidia of course .
The MSI 5.03 driver package was something in the middle of nvidias 4.27 and 5.10
when it comes to some of the individual driver versions .
After all : For graphics cards most people always use ATI's site for ATI cards and nvidia's site for Nvidia cards.
Same should apply with chipset drivers .

  • NVidia's nForce drivers on P7N Platinum SLI

I just wanted to query the forum and other nForce mobo users to see if they had any problems with using the nForce chipset drivers provided by nVidia on their website. I currently use the chipset drivers provided on the MSI website for the P7N Platinum mobo (750i northbridge, 430i southbridge) and they have outperformed all other drivers supplied by nVidia, including the latest 15.45 package (difference of 500-800 marks in PCMark05). Is this common on nForce boards? Are there certain parts of the nVidia drivers that don't work with the P7N, which would make MSI have to create its own driver package for the board? Anybody else have issues with nVidia's nForce drivers?

I have a P6N, the slightly older brother of your board and yes I had troubles with one of their Nforce drivers in Vista.
Like you im running the ones from MSI, somehow they do the trick much better.
They are older, but who cares
Updated it once, but had to roll back due to all sorts of troubles, so íll stick with them.
In Win 7, im running the 15.35, cause MSI has no drivers for Win 7 for my board and so far, no issues.

I need to integrate it with Artificial Intelligence, so the most important point is can detect many vehicles fastly.
Do you guys have recommendation maybe between IP Cameras or CCTV or any better for me?

you can find everything you need at the support page for this board:

click to left to select Driver or Utility
alternatively, download the Nforce system drivers (AGP GART, Mem Controller, IDE Controller, Audio, Lan etc) from Nvidia:

  • MEGA 180 Users - new nForce drivers available!

version 5.10 of the nForce drivers are available from nvidia
    http://www.nvidia.com/content/drivers/drivers.asp
the audio drivers have had a "fix" it would seem

nForce driver set v5.1 did not make any visible harm to my Mega180.
The strange thing though is that VGA driver version did not change after the installation, and I am now 3 levels behind from what MSI offers via Live Update...

  • NForce Drivers?

i've been keeping up to date with these drivers posted off the MSI live update site.
but say i want to download the the nforce drivers off the http://www.nvidia.com website, will my system still function right? or is there a reason msi guts theredriver releases for these drivers?
    thnx

just use nvidias drivers msi ones are nvidia any way they dont write them
they will allways be older than nvidias

  • NForce drivers version 1.13 - problems

Firstly I’d like to say that this is my first post on this message board. I a huge fan of MSI and like to say that most of my components in all my systems are MSI based. I’ve been reading this board (and old one) for over a year now! And its helped loads. I have recently purchased the CNR raiser card so that I can get 5.1 out of the Creative Inspire 5.1 – 5300 speakers. I running Windows XP Professional with Version 1.13 of the nForce drivers. When I use PowerDVD XP it works fine and all 5 channels work correctly with in UT 2003 too. Now the problem is with only game I really play on clanbase which is Counterstrike (Half Life). I have noticed that not may people have posted regarding this so either people don’t play it or it works fine on their systems.
    1) I was having problems with it only coming out of 2 speakers with the EAX selected within the game. I changed the speaker set-up in the nForce sound application from 5.1 to 4-speakers profile and started to get EAX coming out of 4-speakers the but the problem is the sound is really distorted. As soon as I disable EAX it sounds fine and ultra clear! Any ideas?
    2) Other problem is with the MSi GeForce 3 Ti 200 (128MB flavour) I am using the latest beta drivers but I’m having problems with the nVidia control panel. I’ve tried to uninstall the detonator drivers via add remove programs then used the detonator remover app that should give me a fairly clean system then I reinstalled the latest drivers (this process worked for the last beta drivers but since I installed the 1.13 its gone back to not letting me into the advanced settings).
    3) I’m also experiencing problem with Counterstrike locking up after a certain amount of time! At first I thought it was a heat based problem but I have a coolermaster server case & 6+ fans and its super cool inside the case. This problem seemed to get better with each new version of detonator but its back now with the latest beta version. I’ve tried setting the priority of the process to above normal but it doesn’t seem to help.
Apart from the above I think that the nForce board is by far the best motherboard I have ever used and cant wait for the nForce 2.
    Thanking you in advance!

    Hi Jonathon,
What BIOS are you on, and do you have APIC Uniprocessor HAL loaded in XP?

  • EX630 laptop - Nvidia 9300M GS - monitor flickers at 1920x1200

Recently, I bought an MSI-EX630 Laptop with NVIDIA SLI GeForce 9300M GS card from Newegg.
Never, ever, ever, buy a laptop that is from MSI or has NVIDIA inside that you cannot return, NEVER!
In short, my story is that when I hook up a secondary monitor it starts to flicker at resolutions of 1920x1200. This only happens when the laptop screen is active as well.  This happens no matter if I have a HDMI-to-DVI cable or a simple VGA cable.
    2) When I try to upgrade drivers, from official MSI site, everything goes blank (even when I'm on single-laptop-monitor configuration). Turns out, I have to go into Vista safe mode, to turn off the secondary video card, and use only the slow one, otherwise I get blank
    screen with the mouse only...
    3) with original drivers and configuration, single monitor, when I leave the laptop for 2-3 minutes, and then I try to move the mouse - I get a message saying to wait. I guess while the laptop was idle, the boost video card deactivated, and now to get active again I have to wait..
So, when I brought it to MSI Toronto for service, I got this response:
    Hi,
The resolution of EX630 is 1366x768. It is the highest it got. If you connect it to an external monitor, you only got 1366x768. It won’t run under 1920x1200 resolution.
We have tested your notebook and the dvi cable. They are all ok. Your computer will be sent out to you soon.
    Regards,
    Harry with MSI(Canada)
    (905)707-1880 ext 119
The good about MSI, is that you can go and talk in person with their service people. The bad, is that they cannot speak English and have very little idea about their products.
I told Harry, that there are two video cards in the laptop, and I suspect the secondary, faster card has issues.
Harry told me: "Who installed the second video card for you?"
Me: "This is NVIDIA SLI configuration, it comes with two cards, one built-in that is slower, and a secondary one, that boosts performance in games".
Harry then said that he has to ask his technician in Asia.. Harry later on told me that he has to bring the laptop to factory settings and whether I give permission to do that..
On the RMA sheet of paper that he asked me to sign, I specifically said that he can reformat the disk - no problem and that I've already used the MSI recovery disk to bring back everything as original..
But I guess better ask twice that sorry, can't blame them for that..
I asked to speak to a manager, but to no avail.. Harry suggested he'd ask his technician again..
I even put a youtube video to demonstrate to people the first problem that I have:
NVIDIA refuses to talk to me, because their product is in a laptop, so I have to talk to the laptop manufacturer..
So, I went to a store with 14-day return policy and bought another MSI - CR600, with 8200GS Nvidia card.
Needless to say, 1920x1200 works just fine with same cables and monitor. This MSI-CR600 laptop, at least I can return, and I'll do it.

I have a similar issue: external Samsung monitor worked fine on Vista, but I could not stand Vista. I put Win Xp Pro on... and I cannot get any signal out through the VGA port now. The monitor works fine (still), tested with two other latptops.
My suspicion is that the nVidia driver files, possibly the .INF, may need tweaking / replacement / etc.
    Any assistance appreciated.

  • Installing new Nforce drivers?

I'm running the lastest Nforce driver pak from MSI on my K7N420. When the new Nforce drivers from Nvidia come out (Soon I hope) should I be able to install them over the MSI Nforce drivers I'm running now? If not, could someone please tell me an easy way to uninstall old Nforce drivers, MSI or Nvidia.
    Thanks
    Dennis

Thanks for the reply. One more quick queston. I'm running an Gf4 add in card so removing the Nvidia display drivers in Add/Remove does the video drivers, I know this one. What listing in Add/Remove removes the Nforce drivers?
    Thanks

  • Live Monitor doesn't detects my updates

    Hello all
Been browsing arround the forums, but could't realy find this issue
    Question #1
I have installed a brand new windows, and the first thing I installed was LiveMonitor ver 3. I leted LM (LiveMonitor) detect what drivers needing updates, DL:ed them and installed them. After several reboots I had installed them all I though  . So I rerunned LM and did another autocheck, and I got exactly the same result!
I went in and checked the driver versions manualy in DeviceManager, and there all drivers look updated.
    The system I have is:
    MSI RS480M2-IL
    AMD Athlon 3500+ (130nm)
2*512 MB kingston KHX3200UL HyperX (I can't understand if that is an OK mem or not)
    Question #2
Should I be able to run a 64-bit OS on this machine? I tried both Microsoftand Novell (SUSE). The Linux fails initializing a table while mounting SWAP, and stands in a DoNothingLoop. Numlock and CapsLock works fine though. When trying to boot from MS 64 bit CD, the computer doesn't detect it sa bootable . I even tried DL and ISO  , burned it and got the same problem
    well, thanx in advance and

Live Monitor and Live update only properly detect MSI's own drivers. If you installed Windows without using the MB CD with MSI's drivers or got them from a site on the web other than MSI then they won';t be properly detected. No matter as most of the drivers at MSI or on the CD are dated anyways. Better to roll your own setup than to deal with older drivers.

So the answer is that it's newer compared to MSI 5.01 pack and Nvidia 4.27 pack.
    Agp/gart version 3.77 in MSI 5.01 driverpack and in nvidia's 4.27 driverpack .
    And agp/gart version 4.36 in nvidia's 5.10 driverpack .
Basically there is nothing new in the Gart department that has not already been out, none of the above solve the punkbuster freezing problem with the K8N Neo Plat. mobo. Neither does the following Gart below which is newer then all of the above:

As far as Im aware that is the newest Gart driver available (please correct me if Im wrong), and its dated flipping April!!! Its Flipping September!!! still we have this problem, I wish nvidia would release something a bit more upto date.

  • Nforce drivers, worth it?

i have a linux box running on an nvidia e-7150 nForce 630i motherboard with an intel core quad.
i use the nvidia display drivers and my own tweaks to xorg.conf to get video the way i want.  for sound, i use alsa and for ethernet i'm running the sky2 intel driver (i think).  i like to keep my system as free (as in speech) as possible, but i need that video driver.
    my question:
is there any compelling reason(s) to download/install/configure the nforce drivers for the nvnet and nvsound modules? i've read most of the documentation about how nvsound needs oss but i could use alsa-oss emulation etc. but is it even worth the trouble?
my system is performing flawlessly now but my card has 7.1 surround sound and optical out that i'm not using and i think the nforce drivers are the only way to utilize that, right?  i don't think the nvnet will give me any significant improvements but i'm wondering if anyone has experience with these drivers / this mobo and would like to offer some insight.
    thanks in advance.

thanks for the reply.  i've had issues in previous distros where playing multiple sound sources at once would kill sound in any program thereafter until a reboot.  at that time i didn't quite understand the whole alsa / oss / pulse audio interaction though.  my only real concern for trying out these drivers was breaking my system back into that situation because i was quite happy to find that problem didn't exist when i set up my alsa-only arch box.
the idea of 7.1 surround sound enticed me; but i think you're right, "if it ain't broke don't fix it".
