Best of Edge Animate #2

Hi everyone,
Edgehero made a  weekly article about the best projects made by Edge Animate.
http://www.edgehero.com/articles/best-of-edge-animate-2
We really need your help with finding new projects!
Please suggest projects or submit your own!

Looks good - should have the 'examples' open to a new open. At the moment, when clicked, 'they take over' Edge Heros' site.

  • Edge Animate - für CMS exportieren und einbetten?

    Hallo!

  • Best workflow from InDesign to Edge Animate for DPS

    I'm working on a DPS project and want to take an article that I designed in InDesign, and bring it into Edge Animate to animate.
    What's the best way to do that?

    There is no good way to do that but without seeing the layout it's pretty much impossible to give you any advice at all. BTW, The Edge and DPS forums would be way better places to post this.

  • Is Edge Animate the best Adobe program for creating app demos?

    I would like to create an animated demo (video?) that shows a mobile app UX as if someone is interacting with it...(ie. fly-out menus, zooming, scrolling, etc.) It is not meant to be interactive but rather just observed by the audience. I plan to include these in my online portfolio but I am not sure which Adobe app would best accomplish this. Is Edge Animate the best option for me?
    Here is a great example of what i am trying to achieve...

    When you say "App demos", are you referring to software applications? If so, Adobe Captivate is something to consider.
    Cheers... Rick

  • What is the best way to manage file structure in an Edge Animate project

    I started an Edge Animate project, but halfway through I realized that one of the folders I created was misspelled. In Windows Explorer, I renamed the folder, but that caused the Edge Animate project keep crashing.  Is there a way to manage/edit the file structure of a project within Edge Animate?  If not, is it possible to make alterations to the project's file structure in Windows Explorer without causing errors in Edge Animate?
    Thanks,
    Paul

    Does anyone have any comments or know of any possible solutions for this?

  • What are Edge Animate best practices?

    I am almost done creating an animation. It has about 6 minutes of audio with animations timed to it. The more I develop, the slower the Edge program is to manipulate to the point of being unusable. I can 't select and drag to shorten/lengthen animations. Elements that were at one time set to off turn back on and code that used to work no longer does. This is my first time using Edge and I'm wondering if there is something I could have done to avoid this situation. I copied Illustrator images into Edge so I have a lot of svg files. The project is one long timeline (to correspond to timing with the audio) with many, many layers. Should I have broken the audio into small sections and created many individual symbols and placed them sequentially? Should I use png files instead of svg files? When I needed to reuse images I made them into a symbol - should I make sure their timelines aren't playing perpetually? There must be something that is bogging this program down because if I create a new program it works fine. Any input/insight/suggestions are greatly appreciated.

    Hi there,
    symbols
    I always turn off the timelines and play them in code when needed. Of course sometimes you have loops in symbols so this would not apply to these.
    audio
    I try to split the sound files but I am not sure it makes a difference
    Edge Animate version
    Unless I have absolutely no need of jquery, I do not use the current version any more because it is too buggy in my opinion. 2014.0.1 is stable and has few bugs.
    svg versus png
    It depends on what you need - I have used both separated and together in comps. I rarelly have problems with them.
    I think the size of images in general would tend to cause problems if you have lots of them and they are big. I was told there is no limit but I am not so sure about it.
    These are only my opinions and Adobe or other users might differ.

  • How do I pass a variable from edge animate to an external JS?

    I need to pass a variable value from Edge Animate to an external JS file. How can I do it?

    Not sure if this is the best way ,but works
    Set the variable as a property of a global variable
    Like
    SET
    window.myVar = 'your value';
    AdobeEdge.myVar = 'your value';
    Read
    window.myVar
    AdobeEdge.myVar

  • How do I know if my Edge Animate compositions will scale up or down to fit each mobile phone platform's resolution? iPhone 3s, 4, 4s, 5, and 5s all have different resolutions. Do I use .png or svg?

    I want to use Edge Animate to create native app in PhoneGap Build. How do I know if my Edge Animate compositions will scale up or down to fit each mobile phone platform's resolution? iPhone 3s, 4, 4s, 5, and 5s all have different resolutions. And do I use .png or svg?

    If you use responsive scaling it will definitely scale .

  • How do i actually view Edge animate content at 100% on a connected device??

    Hey,
    I'm working on a mobile mockup in Edge Animate, the resolution is 1280px high x 720px wide. I am previewing the output on a HTC One X via Edge Inspect.
    It is working fine (once I figured out how to use the reponsive layouts feature in Edge Animate) but the android status bar and the 'dock' menu within Inspect are squashing my comp vertically so the preview is not in fact 100% scale... my 1280px high comp is now squashed to 1134px. Doesn't exactly give an accurate view of the final product...
    It seems to me that the 'Show full screen on devices' is a bit misleading, or is it just how android handles this?
    Any help much appreciated.
    lance

    Hi Lance,
    I'm not entirely clear on what you're seeing, could you possibly take a screenshot and post it here if I've misunderstood what you're describing? Thanks, meanwhile, I'll do the best I can to help.
    There are two things that may prevent your mockup from taking up the entire screen on Android. There is the Android status bar and our Edge Inspect UI chrome that shows the URL and a couple of buttons. The Edge Inspect chrome you should be able to easily remove by choosing the full screen button within the Chrome extension. "Show full screen on devices" may be a bit misleading it's true, because when you click that we don't also hide the Android status bar. That is however, by design, since that status bar will remain visible on devices while your page is being shown in the native browser on the device, so we're giving you an accurate representation of your page.
    Hope this helps,
    Mark

  • How do you add Edge Animate to HTML Module using DotNetNuke (DNN)?

    First off I'm new to the whole web design/coding/html/css/jquery/etc., and the program Edge Animate is amazing!
    I have a site up using DNN and wanted to put what I created on Animate onto one of the pages. I added an HTML module and that's where I'm stuck.
    I do not know where to get the complete code so it works, and I do not know where to upload the Animate files. When it comes to creating the thing, I can manage (by reading ALOT), but when it comes to implamenting I am just stumped.
    Any idea?
    If you need more specific info just give the word, and I'll try my best.
    Thanks,
      Moses G.

    There are four basic steps needed to embed an Edge Animate composition into an existing page:
    Publish from Edge Animate. (This creates the necessary files to run the animation. Also, the code referenced in Step 2 and 3 below will be included in the .html file that Animate creates inside the publish/web folder, which you can just copy/paste.)
    Add a <div> to the page that has the ID of Stage and the correct class name for your stage (i.e. the "Composition ID" for your project in Animate).
    For example:
    <div id="Stage" class="EDGE-1655086"></div>
    Include the Preload .js file and the default style in your page's header, within Edge Runtime HTML comments.
    For example:
    <!--Adobe Edge Runtime-->
    <script type="text/javascript" charset="utf-8" src="test-1655086_edgePreload.js"></script>
    <style>
    .edgeLoad-EDGE-1655086 { display:none; }
    </style>
    <!--Adobe Edge Runtime End-->
    Make sure to upload all of the include files to your server in the appropriate relative locations. This includes the _edge.js files, _edgeActions.js file, _edgePreload.js file, the edge_includes folder and its contents, any other files/folders created inside the "publish/web" folder when you publish from Edge Animate (e.g. "images" folder, etc.).
    Here is a very simple example that will hopefully help to clarify:
    http://thetraininggrounds.com/An-test/Insert-An-into-existing-page.html
    As a reference, these are all of the files involved in the example:
    An-test/Insert-An-into-existing-page.html (the existing HTML page)
    An-test/ball-bouncing-banner_edge.js
    An-test/ball-bouncing-banner_edgeActions.js
    An-test/ball-bouncing-banner_edgePreload.js
    An-test/edge_includes/edge.1.0.0.min.js
    An-test/edge_includes/jquery.easing.1.3.js
    An-test/edge_includes/jquery-1.7.1.min.js
    An-test/edge_includes/json2_min.js

  • Problem with Edge Animate oam file's autoplaying inside Muse

    Hi,
    I have created a Donut Chart animation in Edge Animate. It has 6 donut charts. Each chart is a symbol with animation inside. Everything looks good in edge animate. But, the problem is the .oam file is not working like I want inside Muse. The scroll effect function of is not working. It autoplays every time, regardless of the scroll settings applied. I am using Edge Animate 2014.1.1 and Muse 2014.3.1. So, it's kind of the latest versions.
    I tried several different methods. I found out that the animation works fine in Muse if I don't use any symbol in Edge Animate. Then the scroll function works like a charm. But if I use symbols, then the scroll function stops working. I want to use symbols for a reason. Because, I am making the website as a template to sell and want to include Edge Animate animations in it. Without using the symbols, it will create several objects in one place. And it would be too hard for people, with less knowledge of the program, to edit them.
    What should I do now? Please help!
    Best Regards

    Hello,
    Please double click on the symbol and make sure "autoplay " is unchecked in the stage properties. then republish the OAM file and then try.
    If the issue still persist please share the compressed project file with us to take a look at it.
    Regards
    Vivek
