Best option connecting to VGA ?

My wife's MBP has USB 2, Firewire 800, and Thunderbolt connectors.
Need to connect to a meeting room's Projector with vga cable.
Best way to do that?
Thanks!

You will need an adapter such as this to insert in the Thunderbolt port;

Naturally you will also need a VGA cable.
Ciao.

  • What is the best option to connect my ipad to play on my BWM1 ?

    Hello,
I just bought the BW MM1
    http://www.bowers-wilkins.com/iPod_and_Computer_Speakers/iPod_and_Computer_Speak ers/MM-1/Overview.html
I am wondering if connection my Ipad to the MM1 with the jack is the best option to get a pure sound ?
Or maybe can i use the airplay with the help of my time capsule ?
Is there any other alternative for the best possible sound ?
    Many thanks

These are digital speakers, designed to connect directly to a computer by the USB port. You can use them with an iPad, with an analogue cable, but you paid a lot of money and you will not get the quality that you paid for when using it with an iPad.

  • What is the best option to get a wireless connection please?

Hi, I have a 1.6 GHz G5 with Tiger (soon to install Leopard).
I currently have broadband through an ethernet cable but I want to set up wireless. My understanding so far is that I need either an airport card or an external device such as airport express (in the system profiler it says no info found under AirPort card).
Can someone please tell me if I am correct and if so, what is the best option to buy for my G5 model?
    Thanks very much
    Adam

    BD, I declare an interest!
Look here if you would:  https://discussions.apple.com/thread/4229088?tstart=60
I like the look of the one in your third link, but the only similar one I can find in the UK is this:
    http://www.amazon.co.uk/Daffodil-LAN02-Wireless-Internet-Adapter/dp/B003FBVUH8/r ef=wl_it_dp_o_pC_nS_nC?ie=UTF8&colid=2QR3S4NSXNBE1&coliid=I2JD2YDHCMB4HH
but it comes with a 3 inch CD which is utterly useless to me!
If you can confirm that the MXP2802GU2 will work for me I will buy that!

  • Help Determining Best Option for a MacBook Pro

I will be purchasing a new MBP, and I am having some challenges determining my best option.  I have researched quite a bit, but the more I research the more I get lost. I was hoping that the support community here would be able to assist in my decision.  I am very price consious so I am looking at the refurbished models from the Apple store.  I am also a Web Developer so I need to be able to run Photoshop, Dreamweaver, Illustator plus have a few browsers going with multiple tabs in each.  Speed (both working with files and browsing the web) is of the utmost importance to me as I need a computer that can keep up with me. Basically I need a fast computer so I can get my job done quickly. I would love to purchase a new Mac and max it out, but cost is a very important issue which is why I am looking at these two models.
I am torn between two models in the Apple Refurbished section:
    Option 1.
    Refurbished 13.3-inch MacBook Pro 2.5GHz Dual-core Intel i5
    Originally released June 2012

    500GB Serial ATA @ 5400 rpm
    8x double-layer SuperDrive (DVD±R DL/DVD±RW/CD-RW)
    Intel HD Graphics 4000
with this model I would max out the RAM to 16GB and switch the HD to an 128GB SSD that I have.
    Option 2.
Refurbished 13.3-inch MacBook Pro 2.6GHz Dual-core Intel Core i5 with Retina Display
    Originally released February 2013

256GB Flash Storage

720p FaceTime HD Camera

Intel HD Graphics 4000
What it comes down to is that I like option 1 as the cost is much lower and I can upgrade, but I am nwondering if option 2 would be a faster than option 1 even after I upgrade the RAM and HD. I'm just hesitant about the retina model as I cannot upgrade.  To me most of the numbers look the same, but I do not know much about what is under the hood and what is overall a better machine for my purposes above.  To the retina screen isn't all that important as I plan on connecting the MBP to a larger external monitory.
Thanks in advance for any help.  If anything needs clarification please ask and I will provide more details.

Another advantage to the non-Retina MB/Pro with optical drive is the possibility
of upgrade with a kit, to install a second SSD in place of that drive; as per a
part number kit that macsales OWC site has listed. That kind of upgrade does
come up on occasion; however an SSD in that location has a slower data rate
than one on the hard disk drive bus. 'Data Doubler' is their name for it; a kit
could include a suitable SSD, too. http://eshop.macsales.com/shop/SSD/OWC/
About wireless connectivity differences between Retina MB/Pro and non-Retina,
could vary the results if one were to use a newer Time Capsule wireless base
station; as these can use two bandwidths of wi-fi. However I am not sure if one
or both models can utilize this feature when connecting to the base station &
wireless backup function of the time capsule. The faster speed could be a little
helpful if using wireless; yet I'd be sure to make a backup clone and directly
use a wired connection of dependable speed and quality for its use.
So to read up on the newer specs for the Time Capsule with built in wi-fi base
station to see if that matters; I doubt there would be an issue as the newer is
supposed to be compatible with the older.
Hopefully this helps somewhat. I've found an older AirPort base station can
affect the internet speed when the source is higher than the base thoroughput.
This can be an issue, at least with wireless backups or internet access. For
best connection speeds, it also helps to have a wired network, to fall back on.
Ethernet is faster and more reliable as a local & internet network path; and a
wired network is more secure than a wireless one.
If you have a different question, be sure to ask; you could also start a new thread.
    Good luck & happy computing!

  • Best Option to Improve Computer Speed Using External Hard Drive?

    Hi!
My eMac's 80 gig hard drive is full - mainly due to music, movies and photos - so it is slow and I can't add new media. I cloned the whole hard drive to a 1TB external drive. The computer boots from the external drive. The hard drive is connected to the computer via a FireWire 800 to Firewire 400 adapter cable. I am running Leopard. My RAM is maxed out.
When I boot from the external HD, I seem to get a boost in performance but this seem intermittent and/or not substantial. I have not tested it with a stop watch yet.
I want to get the best performance from my machine. Please help me with the best option. What sounds best?
    1) Forget about cloning. Copy my music, movies and pictures to the external hard drive. Delete these media files from the original eMac to free up space. Run the eMac from the internal drive and access these files from the external drive.
    2) Boot from the cloned external hard drive and use computer like that.
    3) Will it help if the internal eMac HD is not so full? Does this matter if I am booting up from an external drive? Should I delete most or all files from the internal eMac HD and then boot the computer from the EXTERNAL drive? Would this speed things up?
    4) I am open to other suggestions.
The only reason I would not prefer option #2 is that I like to keep all my files on the same drive for backup purposes. I use Time Machine.
    Thanks!

Your Mac will run best and fastest if you run from the internal HD -- it's much faster than an external HD.
And it's best to keep at least 15% free on it; as your startup drive gets more full, your Mac will slow down. Just how much and when depends on a lot of things, but if it gets over 95% or so, it may get very sluggish, apps may hang or crash, data may be corrupted or lost, etc.
So your best bet would be a larger HD in your Mac. I don't know if that's possible or how much it would cost.
Second best would be to put selected data on an external HD, preferably not the one you use for Time Machine. As long as you format that HD for a Mac, Time Machine can back it up, along with your internal HD.
Put Music on the external for sure, and things like documents.
Photos and Video, maybe. Editing will be much slower on a F/W disk than your internal. So it might make sense to do editing on the internal, then put completed video on the external. You'll have to figure that out depending on what you're doing and how.

  • Best Option to learn Java: Search the Web, Books or Real Training

    Good Evening People,
I came to the following conclusion during my 4 weaks of trying to just connect and read a MySql Database, to read a CVS file.
It seems that you get some leads, but never the full answer.
So I am asking what will be my best Option, as I can see people on the Forum sort of give you some direction, but they want you do figure the answer out for yourself. Which I suppose you deserve as you might have started off with the same frustrations.
So what fo you suggest I do to limit my frustration:
Web Search drive me to a level of uncontrollable frustration, is this realle a complete solution.?
I bought books each costing me over R600.00, still the mistery remains on how to do simple functions.?
Should I rather spend some money and do a Course ?
Please if you have walk the road and have the correct answer I will appreciate it.
If it is a course, what will it be ??
I am in the Gauteng Area.
    Regards

  • The best option to create  a shared storage for Oracle 11gR2 RAC in OEL 5?

    Hello,
Could you please tell me the best option to create a shared storage for Oracle 11gR2 RAC in Oracel Enterprise Linux 5? in production environment? And could you help to create shared storage? Because there is no additional step in Oracle installation guide. There are steps for only asm disk creation.
    Thank you.

Here are names of partitions and permissions. Partitions which have 146 GB, 438 GB, 438 GB of capacity are my storage. Two of three disks which are 438 GB were configured as RAID 5 and remaining disk was configured as RAID 0. My storage is Dell MD 3000i and connected to nodes through ethernet.

  • Best option for Croatia vacation

Hi there!  I'm traveling to Croatia next week (live in the U.S.), and I'm hoping to find the best option to use Skype over wifi to stay connected while I'm there.  What are your thoughts on the lowest cost option?

What are you wanting to do with Skype?  Call back to the USA?  Call phones in Croatia (or other places in Europe)?  Receive calls from back in the USA while in Croatia?
The lowest-cost option would be to use Skype to communicate with other Skype users, when you are on WiFI or other sort of Internet connection not tied to a US-based mobile phone.  Skype-to-Skype calls are free, including one-on-one video chats.  Then what do you want to do - call back to the US?  If so, two options are available... purchase some Skype Credit and pay as you make calls, at the US rate of 2.3 US cents/minute plus a connection fee per call.  More on the per-call pricing is available at the "Pay As You Go" link at the bottom of this web page.  If you think you'll need to be on the phone a lot, the Unlimited USA & Canada subscription at US$ 2.99/month is a great deal.  Click on "Subscriptions" below for more on that option.
Do you want to receive calls from back home with your Skype account?  A US-based Online Number is an option.  You can purchase numbers in most US states and area codes, in 3- or 12-month increments.  Click on "Online Number" below for more about that.
If you have a mobile phone or tablet that can run the Skype app, you can use that wherever you have access to the Internet.  US-based mobile phones, including 3G tablets tied to a US mobile carrier, could lead to a very expensive bill from your mobile carrier when you return home.  Use WiFi wherever you can to avoid that.  If you must use a mobile phone while in Croatia, you may want to purchase a cheap phone with prepaid SIM card over there.  That may work out very well for calls in Croatia, rather than run up roaming charges using a US-based mobile phone in a foreign country.
    Anything else?

  • Best option for wireless Mac Pro early 2009

I didn't but the airport card when I bought my Pro, but find myself needing a wireless connection.
    What is the best option?
I see many USB adapters cheap, but have heard that reliability has been an issue with many of them.
I've heard of issues with 10.6.x (and I need 64bit too) with some PCI adapters.
Should I try to find one of the airport express cards that shipped with it as a BTO option? I have the skill to dismantle the computer to install it myself.
I'd like to go the cheapest route, but don't want to chase down drive or other issues repeatedly; I've gone through that mess with "bargain" routers before.
I'd need it to work with boot camp too.
Any advise would be greatly appreciated.

Obviously you can find your way around inside one of these things, so yeah -- you're probably better off just shopping for the best deal online.
I think you have to be careful about the connection wires -- they're referred to here, in step 5

  • Best option for optical au

    Hey guys,
just a query - i have an audigy 2 ZS currently, and a high end yamaha 7. amplifier.
what im wanting to do is connect this up via optical .. its currently connected via RCA and it seems to get confused as to which is the sub and which is the centre, despite me trying all combinations of cabling.
so i thought an optical wire from soundcard to amplifier would be the best way ?
i've read somewhere that if i do this, and play 2. audio (mp3s), my rear channel will be disabled ? surely thats not true ? - reason for saying this is i've seen home theatre setups where a CD player is hooked up to an amp via optical, and it still produces audio through the rear channels.
whats the best option to run this via optical ? do i need to purchase a new sound card ? if so, what is the best option for me ?
id rather quality than cheaping out on something that 'will do the job', but options are always welcome
mostly i listen to music with a bit of bass, i dont do a whole heap of gaming, so i guess music is the focus.
    Thanks !

    ReaperZ,
The center is on the nominally-left-channel RCA, so the likely-red-coded, nominally-right-channel RCA is your subwoofer connector.
I don't have the same soundcard model, and I can't give you blow-by-blow detail, but try looking in the Bass Management tab of the Speaker Settings control, or you may find something in the THX Setup Console, for bass redirection. You should at least find subwoofer volume and crossover-frequency sliders, and you also might find a center volume control. I'm a proponent of running all soundcard volumes at 00% and controlling listening volume and speaker balance at the amp, since this maximizes the digital SNR, but it can also be less convenient.
Run through the receiver manual's troubleshooting section for "No sound from the center speaker" and "No sound from the subwoofer" just to rule out a setting problem on the receiver side.
Then use "Manually adjusting speaker levels" on pg 45 of the receiver manual, with? MULTI CH IN selected on the remote control, to max the SWFR level (+0dB). Most receivers have separate level settings for their multi-channel input, so it is usually advantageous to provide the +0dB boost this way so it is in effect only when using the soundcard. This boost can be increased further by lowering all of the other settings the same number of dB's: if you subtract dB from all of the others, the effect is to increase the relati've subwoofer volume by dB.
Try using this information and let us know what happens.

Prior to the speed  upgrade I was connecting  at 38MB/ 8MB and now checking my speed via BBMAX I'm connecting at 62MB/14MB (BT speedchecker advised 56.6MB/18MB) so are pleased with the upgrade.

I've tried  TP link 200MB power line adaptors connected to the home hub and to the PC using the house power circuits and still only obtain 33MB on the speed test (the T link utility shows I'm connecting at 133MB).
I assume my wireless network is being limited due to other older G type devices (such as mobile phones etc) bringing the wireless N network down to their level?
So to get the best out of my broadband in the rest of the house, should I upgrade to TP link 500MB units, get a dual band router (which will run G and N type devices) or are these two upgrades not worth it and should I take a hit and  hard wire and have all the problems of running the cat 5 cables to the rest of the house?
PS as a side note my son has the PS Vita and cant get any speed results faster than 13MB on the wireless network

hmmm - you have lots of options and it really pays to think them all through for what you want to achieve. Don't lose sight of that.
i now use time capsule and with the dual band noted an immediate improvement to the extent that i'm nicely wireless throughout my house. My sons use PS3 wirelessly and get a fast, stable connection all the time (16-18mg). I don't care too much that wirelessly might not be best option. It exceeds my needs .
You'll get alot of views from the guys on this forum - each with their own experiences and trials/errors - lots of good learning!!

  • What is the best option for working live off external hard drive?

I have 3 iMacs all networked together and working off 1TB of files stored on an old MacPro. I'm wondering what my best option would be for upgrading moving forward. I need more space (preferable 2TB or more) and I'd like the connection to be as fast as possible. A server seems like overkill ...
I have an external 3TB WD Cloud backing up all of the files, but it's far too slow to work off of live as it needs to 'wake up' every time I ping it.
Would running a 'headless' Mini directly off my router work? Or perhaps attached to one of the iMacs?
    Other options?
    Thanks in advance

    Hi there,
Ive always followed the idea that journalling is turned off, so I would follow the advice given and turn journalling off.
In addition I would also make that drive "private" to spotlight so it doesn't search or catalogue there.
If its of interest, I've always formatted my drives in the following way
    make 2 partitions,
partition 1 - make this about 10% of the drives capacity and label DO NOT USE
partition 2 - make this the remainder of the capacity
the reason being (So Im told by the drive gurus) is that the first sector contains the volumes boot block - this can get corrupted/damaged so having it partitioned like this means you can erase it safely whilst keeping your media.
Ive followed this for years and it has worked on the few occasions a drive has misbehaved.
    cheers

  • CTS+ what is a best option for transport domain?

    Hello Experts,
What is a best option to confugure CTS+ regarding the transport domains?
Should it be simpe and single transport domain at SOLMAN system and all satellite systems assigned to this single transport domain OR should I keep existing transport domains for satellite systems and connect them via domain link with SOLMAN?
    Any  ideas please?
    Thanks!

    hI,
Normally if you have non abap system in your landscape then you can have solman domain as both communication system and Transport domain, then maintain the TMS domain configuration in solman itself
If you want to maintain ABAP separated system as communication system then this case you have to create the domain link between communication system transport domain and the solamn domain
    Chk this CHARM Configuration Problem

  • IWeb my best option

    Hi anybody
I'm making a personal web site with a lot of video files. I'm not too into all the details about servers and webpages and so forth but It's seems to me that iWeb (now that I'm a member) is not the best option. A video file i.e quick time takes forever to load..
Is iWeb just slow in general? Or are video files just a pain to begin with?
I compare my web page to i.e these movie sites where you click on a video and it just starts to play in HD and everything.
I'm sure I'm not the best to explain all of this but if some one has got the general idea and wants to comment I would be most appreciative.
    Best Ulrich

The speed at which your videos play are based on the size of your file, the buffer setting and the users connection speed. Simply put you have to learn about compressing video for the web. iWeb might be a tad slower than using a shared server on your own but not by much if any at all.
Today, because of Internet Explorer, you just can not embed your video files. They have to go thru an Active X Javascript fix. Apple uses a Javascript file as does Adobe's Flash. My point saying this is that no matter what service you use, you'll have to do the same thing as in iWeb.
My guess is that your videos are too large to play as fast as you want. Wether you use .Mac or Network Solutions, your download to play times will be the same. The websites that you see on the web probably have been optimized for different users and browsers. You can write code that detects your browser and download capabilities which will download the movie file that is appropriate. Advance coding that is beyond the typical iWeb user.
Another consideration that you have to take into account, with the basic service with .Mac you get 100 Gigs of transfer a month. Which is pretty decent. But if you have allot of videos and receive allot of hits, you may want to upgrade your service. If you are not coming close to 100 Gigs per month then you would be wasting your money going elsewhere.
Try to get your video file sizes smaller and try to learn about compressing video for the web. Quicktime H264 is the best quality format in both speed and picture quality. It's worth getting to know better.
