Best Photoshop for new MAC.

I am purchasing new Mac Book.  What is the best and most comprehensive version of photoshop that I can purchase, one that is permanent and does not rely on the Cloud or a subscription?

Photoshop CS6 is your only non-Cloud option.

  • Where is the best shop for new mac pro's memory in America ?

    Dear all.
Thank you for your advice in advance.
I bought new mac pro at yesterday. But here is japan,so really expensive new mac pro's memory.
So I want to buy memory at America by internet.
If you know where is the best shop for this memory's price and stability, please let me know.
Really thank you for your advice. I want to buy 16G in now.

    I bought a "8GB FULLY BUFFERED PC6400 DDR2 ECC (FB-DIMM) 800MHz SPECIAL APPLE KIT (Four modules 2GB) MB194G/A" from Memoryamerica.com for $395.
killer deal.works perfectly, no overheating , no issues.
They shipped the sameday. they say on their website that they are the only website shipping the new memory. It must be true, people who ordered from OWC, macsales are still waiting...I am happy I ordered from them. They even have the 4GB modules in stock. These guys are really good.

  • "Best" configuration for new Mac Pro used for Aperture?

I'm getting ready to order a new Mac Pro and would like to configure it to optimize Aperture performance.
On CPUs - I have found no benchmarks which show whether Aperture would benefit from 2 quad core processors versus 1. Does anyone know of any benchmarks or have any experience using a single quad core? I don't want to spend $500 on a 2nd processor if Aperture can't use it.
On Graphics cards - I was sold on the GForce 8800, due to it's supposed blazing speed for gaming and it's larger on board memory. However, after reading the following review http://www.barefeats.com/harper10.html , these guys seem to imply that applications such as Aperture actually run faster with the standard Radeon 2600 video card! If anyone has any experience or opinions on this review, I'd love to hear them!
On memory - I know from experience that Aperture will use all of the physical memory you make available to it. I plan on ordering the standard 2GB from Apple, then adding 8GB from 3rd party for total of 10MB.
Any help would be greatly appreciated.

I can only say that when faced with the same decision last month, I went with a 2.8 8-core/8800GT/10gb RAM/library stored on 2nd internal drive setup and am completely satisfied with Aperture's speed. Beyond satisfied, really, borderline thrilled to be honest. No beach balls, perfectly responsive adjustment sliders, smooth and quick scrolling through images (even with Quick Preview mode turned off). Aperture 2 definitely takes advantage of all 8 cores - I have MenuMeters installed and can watch its CPU usage across all 8 cores. Exporting, for example, is fast and uses all cores for background processing.
I have seen a couple small anomalies though...when moving photos around in a light table, I get some odd flashing artifacts on the right side of screen that could be graphics card related. Visually annoying but it doesn't affect performance. I'm also seeing some weird behavior with keywords not appearing in Tooltips and in the Viewer, but it's intermittent and is most likely a software bug and not my hardware setup.

I participated in getting the free download of Mountain Lion for new Mac owners. It took me three days to finally get a code to do it and when I tried downloading it, the estimated time was 74 days 17 hours. Now an error occurred. What do I do? I am very frustrated and just want the great software to download in a resonalbe time!

Take your Mac to a location with a fast, relaible Internet connection that will be all yours during the duration of the download.
If you want to complain, PLEASE call Apple and do so.
Internet only downloads of OS X is completely stupid, it assumes everyone has reliable Internet everywhere and /or no data caps.

What is the best skin for new Macbook Air 13"?
I have a new Air and want to protect it from scratches and such.
    Thanks in advance

Sorry, I don't like "skins". They inhibit the heat transfer necessary to keep your MBA cool. Get a soft or hard case to store it when not in use. I like Speck products.
Just take care of it. Battle scars make it uniquely yours.

I have switched from using a PC to an iMac and want to know how to register Lightroom 5.7 for new Mac?

Are you on CC or standalone perpetual licence?
If the former I believe you merely download LR from the CC site onto your iMac and log in and off you go.
If the latter, download LR onto your Mac from the perpetual licence site (not the CC version), install it and use the same licence number as with your PC.

The James Colby system (123macmini link) seems to be the only one I could find with an color display. He went for an LCD, instead of CRT. He kept the original look of the CRT by cutting the picture tube (so the glass face stayed in place, but behind it is an LCD).
Here's the discussion where he specifies the source for the LCD display:

Best choice for new RAM on nForce SLI Platinum

    OK,
So it would then seem that going for the tighter PC3200 RAM is better that going for the more relaxed PC4000 RAM
It would also seem that the Corsair is a slightly better buy than the Kingston    In general, which overclocks better Corsair or Kingston?
    Thanks,
    D.
Kingstone have a reputation for producing faster compatible memory to replace that found in HP, compaq's etc. Corsair do have a reputation for producing memory for overlockers. Note that dosn't mean memory which overlclocks, it means memory which overlockers can use to push the FSB harder and overlock the CPU.
This is really not a problem for AMD64 users. P4 systems have a poor memory peroformance, and hate running asych. You can push an AMD64 by running the memory asynch without noticing from my expericnace testing my system.
My current system is running at 305 FSB, 1/180 devisor for 275mhz. Everest benchmarks my latency at 43ns, read speed 7300mb/s, write speed 2800mb/s.

  • Best (affordable) Router for new Mac G5

What would be the best Router for my new Mac G5?
I currently have a DLINK router, which just won't cooperate so I am running straight out of the cable modem.
DLINK help says they don't support the latest OS version, so I decided to try another router so I can make use of my laptop (wireless) and Mac (not wireless) again.
Any thoughts? Plug and Play would be nice.

Hi Ryan, welcome to Discussions, all routers follow an industry standard and should would with your Imac. I would look on D-link's website for a firmware update (caution USA and Canada for sure have different firmware and loading wrong firmware could kill your router and it is not covered by warrentee) Make sure you have all the latest updates for Imac, there was one not to long ago that did infact make Imac "play nicer" with competitive routers. I know my D-link DI-624 didn't always "play nice" with my Imac but seems to be working wonderfully lately (knock on wood) Give that a try and if that doesn't work then Netgear and Linksys make good products too. Good luck, Bob :~))
I currently have a DLINK router, which just won't cooperate
also what exactly is or isn't happening, do you have encryption or MAC filtering or anything configuired?

  • Which Windows version is best for new Mac Pro?

I read the Apple support article which said the full version Windows XP with SP2 or SP3 is supported. Is there a preference? Has one demonstrated to be more reliable over the other? Should I consider Windows 7 instead?

I am hoping to finish this up so I can purchase the right version of Windows and get on with using my new Mac Pro.
I don't know what VMs is. Can you explain?
Windows 7 64-bit sort of requires EFI64 and you have that in UEFI 2.x Early 2008 Mac Pro 3,1.<</div>
Sorry, I'm an old guy. Can you explain this, too?
At this point my understanding is that it is preferable to go with Windows 7 64-bit. I can order a Windows 7 Home Premium 64-bit Software and Product Key - Disc Version. Does this sound correct?
    Many thanks--

  • Best Practices for new iMac

I posted a few days ago re failing HDD on mid-2007 iMac. Long story short, took it into Apple store, Genius worked on it for 45 mins before decreeing it in need of new HDD. After considering the expenses of adding memory, new drive, hardware and installation costs, I got a brand new iMac entry level (21.5" screen,
2.7 GHz Intel Core i5, 8 GB 1600 MHz DDR3 memory, 1TB HDD running Mavericks). Also got a Superdrive. I am not needing to migrate anything from the old iMac.
I was surprised that a physical disc for the OS was not included. So I am looking for any Best Practices for setting up this iMac, specifically in the area of backup and recovery. Do I need to make a boot DVD? Would that be in addition to making a Time Machine full backup (using external G-drive)? I have searched this community and the Help topics on Apple Support and have not found any "checklist" of recommended actions. I realize the value of everyone's time, so any feedback is very appreciated.

OS X has not been officially issued on physical media since OS X 10.6 (arguably 10.7 was issued on some USB drives, but this was a non-standard approach for purchasing and installing it).
To reinstall the OS, your system comes with a recovery partition that can be booted to by holding the Command-R keys immediately after hearing the boot chimes sound. This partition boots to the OS X tools window, where you can select options to restore from backup or reinstall the OS. If you choose the option to reinstall, then the OS installation files will be downloaded from Apple's servers.
If for some reason your entire hard drive is damaged and even the recovery partition is not accessible, then your system supports the ability to use Internet Recovery, which is the same thing except instead of accessing the recovery boot drive from your hard drive, the system will download it as a disk image (again from Apple's servers) and then boot from that image.
Both of these options will require you have broadband internet access, as you will ultimately need to download several gigabytes of installation data to proceed with the reinstallation.
There are some options available for creating your own boot and installation DVD or external hard drive, but for most intents and purposes this is not necessary.
The only "checklist" option I would recommend for anyone with a new Mac system, is to get a 1TB external drive (or a drive that is at least as big as your internal boot drive) and set it up as a Time Machine backup. This will ensure you have a fully restorable backup of your entire system, which you can access via the recovery partition for restoring if needed, or for migrating data to a fresh OS installation.

  • Configuration recomendations for new Mac

I need some help figuring out the best configuration for a new mac. In addition to basic office tasks, I will be using the computer primarily for all Mac Studio applications and After Effects.
    A few questions:
    - memory - is 8GB enough??
    - RAIDs - What do people recommend for RAID systems?? what are people's feelings on using the Mac Pro RAID?
    - drives - is it better to have external hard drives for video media, or does it matter?
    - are the Mac drives any better or worse for video media than whats on the market?
    - any new releases/updates happening next week?
Thanks so much for any advice.

    *memory - is 8GB enough*
Yep, five or more works well. Buy from macsales.com, not Apple.
    *Mac Pro RAID*
For what purpose. Most HD formats except uncompressed work well with SATA internal drives. And you can create a RAID with two or more SATA internals with a MacPro.
*drives - is it better to have external hard drives for video media* I don't believe it's better at all. eSATA drives with a controller are fine, but I stay away from all FW externals except for backup. Only one FW bus on all shipping Macs.
Apple doesn't make its own drives. They are likely Seagates. I prefer Hitachi Deskstars from zipzoomfly.com
MWSF is next week. Apple doesn't release details before the event.

  • Reinstalling Photoshop on new Mac

I own Photoshop CS3. I have had it installed on 2 devices. My laptop crashed and i can't access it.  I bought a new laptop. When I try to install my owned version, it is only showing up as a trial version. Is my version only compatible on 2 devices and if so, how do I deactivate it from a computer I can't access?  Can't seem to find any phone # to talk to anyone. What should I do?

    Look at this guide:
Configuration error 16 | CC, CS
I don't know what version you have, but you cannot install a Windows edition on a Mac, you need the Mac edition.
If you have Photoshop CS6, you can swap it for a Mac version, otherwise you would have to purchase a full Mac version ($700) or enroll in the $10 per month Photography program from Adobe to use Photoshop CC.
