Best place to find more plugins??

hi everyone
Where is the best place to find more plugins to add to those already with Logic?
The effects with logic are very good but id like to add to those now.
Is there a big range of plugins like the vst's for cubase?
Thanks
Andy

Hey Andy,
There is just as large a collection of plugins for Logic (these come in the AU or Audio Units format) as for Cubase. Anywhere you can buy recording equipment should be selling plugins too. Some free plugins (but not very useful most of the time) can be found on places like www.digitalfishphones.com or www.airwindows.com . The guy that owns AirWindows seems to basically do code copies of plugins. He's got some great free plugins. . . one of which I often use on vocals. he also has some paid plugins that are far cheaper than the competition ($60 vs. $500 for a tape emulation plugin for instance) that are VERY good.
If you're looking to buy plugins, go to www.sweetwater.com . . . or really any large pro audio retailer, but sweetwater's a good place to start. If I knew more of what you were looking for I could help guide you a bit better.
Also, if you have an ilok key you can download demos of many paid plugins and give them a test drive.

  • Best place to find the most authentic information

Best place to find the most authentic information about plans, insurance companies, eligibility, navigators and even the Exchange. Most often, people are unaware that they are eligible for government sponsored coverage and end up buying private and costly health plans. But when a resident accesses the Exchange, he is immediately informed about his eligibility and if interested, he can purchase the subsidized plan. For those who do not have access to the internet, it is the responsibility of the health Exchange to provide information to these residents through other means. Hence, those residents who previously could not purchase health policies due to lack of awareness and information, the health Exchange will prove to be a one-stop shop where they can access information, compare plans and finally purchase that suits their medical and financial needs.

Obviously there are lots and lots of different widgets out there, some free, most not. Where is the best place to find a good package of them that won't cost me an arm and leg?

Personally, I'd recommend my site, but I'm a little biased
However, Adobe just launched a new directory that lists many of the widgets available, no matter who develops them. You can go to MuseWidgets.com to see the directory and search and find one that does what you're looking for.

  • Best place to find acapellas

is there site or store that offer acapella of popular songs

As far as I know, there is no good place to just buy acapellas of popular songs. Most likely this is due to labels not wanting people to have too easy a time sampling vocals. The best place I know of to find acapella versions of songs is on vinyl 12"... I think now that DJing is starting to migrate to CD, more and more CD singles will start to have acapellas as well.

  • Best place to find Adobe developers?

I tried to scour the Adobe site to see if there was a developer exchange to see if I could find a work <-> developer marketplace.
Where is a good place to find developers who are experienced with developing Adobe CS Extensions?
I'm the Product Manager for a software company and I'm beginning to do research around development options.
Finally -- this is not an open solicitation to pitch your services (i.e., looking for someone to point me the right way).
However, if you're interested -- please note, I won't look at anyone who cannot show tangible experience delivering an Adobe CS Extension / plug-in.
    Thanks,

  • Thoughts please on using Powerbook for graphics/best place to find 2nd hand

not sure where the best place for this post was so apologies if it's in the wrong spot - I'm thinking of getting a laptop as a 2nd Mac, mainly for graphics work e.g. InDesign, Photoshop etc what are users thoughts on the Powerbook for this kind of usage and/or where is the best place to look in the UK for 2nd hand/refurbished Mac laptops?
    Thanks!

The Aluminum line topped out at 1.67GHz in the 15" model. Combined with newer features, more RAM capacity, faster buses, brighter displays, these are a big step over the Titaniums.
Although the MB and MBP start at 1.83GHz, which doesn't sound much faster, they have dual cores (basically two processors) and are considerably faster, depending on the apps ability to utilize those cores. Of course, you pay for that speed. If I were going to buy a Ti for anywhere near the price of an Al, I'd certainly get the Al. And if I were going to buy an Al for anywhere near the price of a MBP, no doubt I'd get the MBP.
I think it's going to boil down to what you want to spend, with the ranges being low, medium, and high, as described above. I know that unless I was getting a terrific deal on an Al, I wouldn't even be thinking about it, I'd go MBP all the way.

  • Best place to find a used iphone 4s to use with Verizon.....

My husband would like to upgrade his cell phone to a smart phone before our contract is up.  Where is the best place to look for a used smartphone (either iphone 4s or Motorolla Razr) that can be used with Verizon? Also, does it need a sim card? Can I buy a sim card separately at a Verizon store?  Any help will be greatly appreciated!!!

On the suggestion of a coworker (his kids are very irresponsible), I went to The Cell Phone Nerd on eBay.
8 months into my upgrade, my BlackBerry Z10 wasn't meeting my needs and I wanted an iPhone.  Verizon was either going to charge me the full price to upgrade or have me add an extra line and data package.
I got the 4s Direct Buy on eBay.  It was locked for Verizon Wireless.  I called *228 to activate it and had no problems with my contract.
Let me know if you need more info.

The best  placeto find pictures for backround scenes

Apple hosts a bunch of mailing lists, one of which is for Quartz Composer devs. I read the list occasionally but have never really had the time to become proficient with QC.
Start here for general info about Apple's mailing lists:   http://lists.apple.com/
Then click the "Lists hosted on this site" link to see all the various lists. You'll have to subscribe to quartzcomposer-dev in order to post your questions to the list.
The list is intended for technical discussions related to development and not really for job solicitation. But the usual folks on the list seem relatively friendly for the most part so I expect if you asked nicely and took any negotiations off-line that you wouldn't receive any flak.

  • Where is the best place to find Mac G3 B & W monitor help?

I have a G3/350 rev. 2 Motherboard running OS 9.2.2 and an Apple 17" studio CRT monitor
The machine is working fine except I have been through 3 CRT monitors over the past year. I could use some reliable guidance as I attempt to troubleshoot this issue.

In addition to the total number of hours of previous usage, the internal components of CRT displays can age, even when they sit unused for long periods of time.  The ambient temperature range of the location where stored can hasten this process.  Your (3) CRT displays sound as if they fell victim to flyback transformer failure, which typically occurs when the insulation on the windings degrades and allows arcing to occur.  As for the surge protector, if there were a reasonably strong voltage spike on the electrical lines to your home that the surge protector had to absorb, any further protection capability would have been zapped.  With no LED lit to indicate protection, a damaged surge protector may continue to function as a power strip.  If a voltage spike had damaged your displays, I think it would also be likely that other connected devices would have been affected, like the computer.  If the power cord had an internal open-circuit defect, the display wouldn't function at all.  If the cord had an internal short-circuit, it would trip the circuit breaker on the surge protector (if it has one) or in the panel in your home. Good quality surge protectors protect each receptacle on the strip, so it's preferable to connect the computer, display, and peripherals individually to it. That's why I'd never use the adjacent power connection on the computer's power supply for the display.
"I picked up another studio monitor from a friend to try. It has rarely been used and is in mint condition..works perfectly on her G3/350 B&W. I have reservations about hooking it up to my machine before I am sure I won't  hose this one as well."
Unless this is a long-term loan, I don't know what you'd be able to determine by temporarily connecting your friend's display, since you got at least (3) months of service life out of the other 17" Studio Display. If I were going to loan an older Studio display in mint condition/perfect working order to someone who had experienced your problem, I'd accept the possibility that my display might also become damaged.  With that in mind, I suppose that your friend would be understanding, if her display met the same fate as your others.
If you decide you'd like to purchase a new, widescreen display, I think I'd change my previously-written suggestion for a graphics card upgrade, to finding a slightly newer/used G4 with an AGP graphics card slot. This would broaden the selection of compatible upgrade graphics cards, if one were needed to support the 16:9 aspect ratio of the new display.  At some point, spending $$ on a 12 year-old B&W G3 isn't a good investment, when the same amount of money could provide the benefits of updated technology.
