Best place to purchase RAM for my iMac

I would like to upgrade the RAM on my iMac and I am not sure where the best place is.

And steve hit the nail on the head as well.
I've gotten correct and quality RAM from
resellers on the west coast (USA) online
when I know the proper specifications...
oempcworld.com did OK with three Macs.
Good luck & happy computing!

    Thanks,ed

Crucial.com and macsales.com (Also known as OWC) are highly recommended sources for Mac ram. Its easy to find the correct RAM through either of them, and both guarantee 100% compatibility with your Mac.

Other RAM brands may or may not work correctly with a Mac.

I purchased pages for my Imac can i download this for my ipad mini free of charge?

Correct. To do it, your Mac must be running Mountain Lion and Pages '09 with the most recent version. To check the OS X version you have, open  > About this Mac, and check the version. If it's 10.8, you are running Mountain Lion. Then, you just have to open System Preferences > iCloud, and tick "Documents and Data".
If you aren't running Mountain Lion, you can still share documents between the iPad and the Mac, you can access to the documents created in the iPad in http://www.icloud.com, logging in with your Apple ID, and selecting iWork. Also, you can upload documents from the computer

When I try and purchase keynote for my iMac I am told that "you have already
purchased keynote, do you want to purchase it again?"  Answer NO.  I try to open the
keynote app on my iMac and it asks "do want to buy iWork again?"  answer NO.  Then the keynote app
closes. What an I to do?

Call the apple store you got it from and ask them. Sometimes in the past they've extended the 'no questions asked return' but only Apple can tell you for sure.

  • Purchase ML for my iMac, can I download it again for my MBP ?

As the title suggests I have purchased MLO for mr iMac. Is it ok to download again on a recently purchased second hand MBP or do I need to purchase it again ?

A lot depends on how she wants to use it...Snow Leopard is a rock-solid operating system.  The big advantage to going to Mountain Lion is access to iCloud and the iOS-like features that were addded, iMessaging is the big one for some people.
If she is not interested in those additions, SL is a good system.
Personally, I really like ML...have it on my MBP and iMac, and have Lion on the MBP.  Rarely use the Lion installation now as ML is so much faster.  But note that other users appear on here saying ML is much slower.  For some of us it is faster, for some slower...I realize that is not a definitive answer for you
If you like ML and see advantages for your daughter, you have already purchased and can freely download another copy.

  • Cheapest Online/Offline place to purchase RAM?

    Hello,
I've never purchased RAM before. I was curious on what would be the cheapest place online or offline to purchase / order RAM?
I have a thinkpad t400 with 3gb of ram installed, i have screen flickering problems similiar to http://support.lenovo.com/us/en/documents/ht001223 and im assuming it's because i have two different ram chips instead of two of the same kind? I'm assuming replacing the 1 gb chip with a 2 gb chip will resolve my issue.
    Thanks,
    Steven
    Solved!
    Go to Solution.

The chipset in the T400 supports 2x 4GB. Many people have 8GB installed in their T400. (Likewise the earlier X/T61 series supports 2x 4GB despite Lenovo's official 2x 2GB max. I have had an X61s with 8GB for several years.)
My point is that Lenovo doesn't officially support 8GB on a T400. That doesn't mean 8GB won't work. It only means that if you report a problem to Lenovo with an 8GB T400 they won't be able to help you unless you can reproduce the problem with 2x 2GB.
But since the T400 is now several years old I doubt there are any left still under warranty so in practice this is no longer an issue.

  • Where should i buy RAM for my iMac??

Where or what website should i purchase RAM from.
i am looking to upgrade my Imac 27" (fall 2013)
i like to go from 8GB to 16GB or possibly 32GB
will be working on FCPX. lots of video editing.
    someone suggested www.macsales.com
    and suggested using OWC upgrades.
    anyone have any advice ???
    thanks

My advice. so mileage may vary.
OS X 10.8 Mountain Lion, by itself,  can eat up 4 GBs of RAM.
If you install only 16 GBs of RAM, this really leaves only 12 GBs of a usable RAM for other applications.
You do not, necessarily,  have to install the complete 32 GB of RAM.
You could install 20-24 GBs of RAM and will, probably, still be in good shape, in terms of RAM.
What is really needed for video editing is a fast CPU and powerful GPU ( at least 1 GB VRAM) and lots of hard drive space.
So, I would recommend investing in two fast USB 3.0 or Thunderbolt external hard drives.
One drive (1 or 2 TB storage size)  for a working drive for data and editing of Final Cut files and one other drive ( 2 TB or larger data storage space) to use as a complete computer data backup drive solution.

  • If i purchase Lion for my iMac, do I have to purchase separately for my Macbook?

  • Where is the best place to get support for iPhoto?

    Hello,
I have an issue that is listed here, in regards to iPhoto being very very slow, this is something that started to happen a while ago and I have been all over trying to find something to resolve this issue.
6000+ Images, it used to work fine but now it will not Quit, it just hangs. You can send some images via email then it will crash. I have tried all sorts of suggestions from various forums etc, but nothing. Clearing Cache's etc, nothing seems to help.
Is there any place I can get help from, or should I go directly to Apple for some suggestions?

    William,
You have come to the right place -iPhoto forum. It's the best place I know to get the help you need from knowledgeable iPhoto users.
When you say that iPhoto runs slow and quits, that sounds like a memory problem. How much free space do you have on your boot drive? The OS needs about by 15% free and clear disk space to use as virtual memory. An iPhoto library of 6000 can put a real drain on the system.
Apple recommends closing down other applications if you are getting sluggish response from iPhoto to free up memory.
Working in iPhoto you can also speed things up dramatically if you close all the rolls in the library source window, except the one you want to work with.
If you got the zoom set to give you big displays in that source window then minimize the zoom in the organize mode. I photo creates fasting loading thumbnails for browsing through your library. If the zoom is set all the way up, iPhoto has to load the full size file in the library for viewing in the source window. If it has to load all your photos full size in the source window you will get slow response and iPhoto is apt to quit on you

  • Ram for the iMAC 2.16 Intel Core 2 Duo

Perhaps someone could enlighten me as to why there are no listings for ram for the machine affore mentioned? I go to the apple store and click on memory and the closest listing I see for my system is 2.0GHz. Does this mean that I can use the same memory that is listed for the 2.0GHz in my 2.16GHz machine?
    T.I.A.

Yes that thought had occured to me as well. That's probably what I will do. I don't relish the thought of having to try to get rid of 2x512 sticks and 1x1G stick after upgrading to the 1x2G stick. I think I got all that right 2x512 now equaling 1G. Purchase 2x1G ticks to have 2G. Then upgrade to 1x2G stick and keeping 1 of the 1x1G sticks to go with the newly purchased 1x2G stick...whew what a mouthfull

  • Best place to upload video for family access

    Hi there:
I'm a relative newcomer to FCE, but a 20-year experienced Mac user. I have decided to produce an occasional two-minute video of family news for uploading so that family members round the world can keep tabs on what we're all doing. Where would be the best place to upload this so that:
    1. It's quick to upload.
    2. It doesn't suffer much quality loss.
    3. It's secure from non-family.
I'm a MobileMe member, if that has any bearing on your answers, although we have a public site operating already from that MobileMe account.

    and what let's you hesitate to create a 2nd, pw-protected one.. ?
I'm operating with iWeb/MM simultanously six sites, two are 'closed', family only ..
if some of your family members have problems with the formats in use on MM, upload to youtube (in 1280x720 for 'Hidef'/HQ), make it private, grant access to 'invited only' and add a '&hd=1' to any new YT-URL to direct directly to your hiDef-version ..

  • Where is best place to make settings for printing on 8"x10" paper?

Does PS interpolate (scale?) my final print image when I set the size paper I'm printing to? I would like to avoid that.
I want to combine several photos into a single image and print on 8"x10" paper w. 1/2" borders. Where is the best place to make these settings in CS6?
Do I set my canvas dimensions in the "New File" dialogue box to Width: 7 inches and Height: 9; and then choose 8 x 10 paper size when printing, which leaves 1" for borders?  Or do I go to "Image Size" and make the settings there? Or in the Print Dialogue box?  Thanks.

I would suggest the Print Dialog. Here your printer would be set to 8 x10 paper (borderless),but in the print dialog under "Scaled Print Size",you would set the print size you want without resampling.
At least that's what I would do for a single project. Start by checking "Scale to fit media" so that you start with the entire image.
Keep "centered" checked. Then uncheck "Scale to fit Media" and dial in your settings.

  • What is the max ram for a iMac DV 400mhz? (family M5521)

I've read several posts on this forum about the max memory for this iMac. Several people say it's 512 then usually someone comes back and says "Actually it's 1024". As per the Apple specs page (posted below) the Min is 64MB and the Max is 512MB. Is that overall system, or per slot? I'm guessing it's per slot, since it has two slots and the Ram Sizes states it can handle a 512 chip (2 slots @ 512 ea. = 1024) am I wrong in this?
    Thanks,
    -Matt
    RAM Slots: 2, PC100 DIMM
    Min - Max RAM: 64 MB - 512 MB
    Min RAM Speed:
    RAM Sizes: 64, 128, 256, 512 MB
    iMac DV 400Mhz 512Mb   Mac OS X (10.3.9)

First ensure that you have the correct firmware installed. See Announcement: iMac (Slot Loading): Install iMac Firmware 4.1.9 Before Mac OS X 10.2 or later.
You will need OS 9 installed on the hard drive to install that firmware update. If OS 9 is currently on the hard drive you can install the firmware update (if needed) before swapping the hard drive.
Yes you can install OS 10.3 directly without installing OS 9. If there is any possibility that you will want to boot from OS 9 in the future, ensure that you pick the option to install the OS 9 disk drivers.

  • Upgrading RAM for an iMAC  Intel Core i5 2.8 GHz Quad Core - Late 2012 (I'm guessing).

I have an iMAC Intel Core i5 2.8 GHz Quad Core - Late 2012 (I'm guessing).  I am trying to upgrade the RAM of my iMAC and I am not sure how to go about it. Running on OSx 10.6.3
This iMac has 4 slots - Currently my RAM is using 2 slots with 4 GB so I have 8 GB right now.
The speed is 1333MHz. Now I have some RAM that could get to 32GB but the 4 RAM chips speed is
    1866 MHz.
Would it be possible to swap my old RAM (8GB) 1333MHz for the new 1866mhz RAM? even with the difference in speed?  The RAM is from Crucial.
If possible I can try and swap the RAM if I get inside my iMAC.

If you are really running 10.6.3, then you do not have a 2012 machine. Please check to see if this is yours (it's a 2010):
    http://www.everymac.com/systems/apple/imac/specs/imac-core-i5-2.8-27-inch-alumin um-mid-2010-specs.html
It also mentions the exact specs of the RAM. I would only use the RAM supported by Apple; using the higher speed rated RAM will not result in higher speed.

  • I purchased Keynote for my iMac, when I sync my iPad with iMac isn't Keynote suppose to be installed on my iPad?

I purchased Keynote for iMac, when I sync my iPad with iMac isn't Keynote suppose to be installed on my iPad too?

I think that only files are synced, and not applications.
On your iPad, go into app store and download keynote.
It is possible that you have to buy it again though, once for the desktop, once for ios devices.
please let me know if this helped. and if it's incorrect, so i can change it if so.
    Thanks,
    Finally iMac!
