Best plan  to MSCS cluster NW700

Gurus:
We have a sandbox NW700 as a POC for MSCS cluster.
We do not care about hardware with enough funds.
We want a full MSCS clustered  CI, DI , SCS , ERS and DB,  therefore each part is HA.
We also plan a webdispatcher in front of the NW700 and will not be clustered.
Could you please give some high level recommendation to achieve above HA?
Thanks!

Hi,
Yes, you can install MSCS cluster. You need to be having 2 nodes. CI and DI will be local on both the nodes. ASCS and DB will be installed on virtual hostname and directory will be moving across 2 nodes. ERS will be installed on both nodes locally.
You can read the installation guide for more information.
Thanks
Sunny

  • Multiple SAP Systems In One MSCS Cluster

    We have installed a NW 7.0 EHP abap stack in a MSCS Cluster with 2 nodes.
    This was installed as a standard Cluster Install.
    We have now higlighted a requirement to install a 2nd (Java ) instance in this Cluster Group.
    The NW 7.0 EHP1 documentation and Note 1321854 shows that multiple SAP systems in one  MSCS cluster is supported.
    The documentation, however, is not clear if the 2nd instance can be installed when the 1st instance was installed without the preperations for Multiple Systems.
    There are no further documentation or guidelines to help.
    Has anyone come across this situation or managed to install 2 SAP instances in one Cluster Group based on Windows 2003, SQL Server 2005.
    Regards

    I am not quite sure if I understood your problem completley. But let's see...
    Usually you use on on MSCS Cluster Group per SAP instance. So you have your already existing NW 7.0 ABAP stack in a separated Cluster Group, and you create a new Cluster Group for your new Java system.
    You can find more information about it in this guide here on SDN:
    Link: [High Availability;
    More information about High Availability Setups for SAP System can be found here on SDN:
    Link: [High Availability]
    If you want to use the same database for your clustered ABAP stack and your new Java stack you can do a MCOD installation.
    Please see Link: [SAP Note 388866 - Multiple Components on One Database - Installation|https://service.sap.com/sap/support/notes/388866]
    Hope this helps.

    Start Hyper-V Manager pr failover cluster console on the primary server and choose a virtual machine to fail over.
    1. Turn off the virtual machine that you want to fail over.
    2. Right-click the virtual machine, point to Replication, and then point to
    Planned Failover.
    3. Click Fail Over to actually transfer operations to the virtual machine on the Replica server.

    Hi Samuel,
    In the original post :
    Tests: 1 -
    Planned Failover from Cluster to StandAlone Hyper-v is ok
    Test: 2
    Planned Failover from Standalone hyper-v to Cluster is ok
    Test:3
    Planned Failover from Cluster (Primary site) to another Cluster (Replica site) with Replica
    There is no  standalone hyper-v to standalone hyper-v between two sites .
    After the last test , if they still can not do planned failover , maybe you can focus on network configuration .

  • Best plan for this scenario (migrate oes2 to oes11)

    Hi there!
    I would like to ask you guys the best plan for migrate a few servers that I have
    in oes2 to oes11.
    I have four servers in oes2sp2/sp3, these servers have a few NSS
    volumes over NCS. Also I have my iPrint service on two machines,
    also using NCS. I have one cluster between two machines and
    other cluster between the other two machines. For exmaple,
    machine1 and machine2, three NSS volumes (every NSS volume is a cluster
    resource) and other resource in the same cluster for iPrint. Cluster: CL1
    machine3 and machine4, one NSS volume (for other people in the company)
    in other cluster. Cluster: CL2. In this cluster only have a NSS volume/resource.
    Machine1/3 are physical, machine2/4 are virtual (vmware)
    My CA is in other server that I will migrate after a while. So, It seems that there is
    no problem with the certificate. Machine1 and machine3 are a replica for the eDir in
    my organization.
    My plan: I have deployed two virtual machines and one physical with oes11sp1 and sles11sp2.
    I think that the best plan is migrate with migration tool iPrint first, like a cluster resource,
    and NSS volumes, and after that, make a transfer ID (like a different project)
    For machine1/3, move NSS volumes and after, make a transfer ID.
    Is this correct? I dont know If I have to delete the current clusters (cl1 and cl2) and
    create new ones, after that, create every resource as It was on the old ones.
    thank you so much !
    Antonio.

    If you look in my signature, there's a link to my OES2 guides. Somewhere there is one that I did for our Rolling Cluster Upgrade.
    If all you have is NSS and iPrint, then you only need to use the miggui (migration utility) for iPrint--or so I think (I do have to followup on this one as I vaguely recall I asked this a while back and there may have been a way to do this without migrating stuff again).
    But your NSS data will simply "re-mount" on the OES11 nodes and you'll be fine (so that's why I like the rolling cluster upgrades).
    Let me double-check on the OES2 -> OES11 cluster option with iPrint.

    Thank you Kevin for your answer.
    Finally, I think Im going to proceed using transfer ID on my servers that Im only using NSS over NCS (I only have two machines with one NSS volume)
    because it seems that its a good option. I would like to keep old IPs from all the servers, cluster and resources if possible. So, testing this
    migration on my test environment it seems that it works fine:
    - I use miggui for transfer id between all the machines: physical -> physical and virtual -> virtual. eDirectory assumes new hostname, IP, etc.
    the only task "out of the box" is that I have to delete the cluster and regenerate (reconfigure NCS on the new servers) but its pretty easy. This way
    I have the two old ips from the older machines and all the ips from the cluster and the cluster resources also. I think that its the best plan.
    For the other two machines that has 4 nss volumes and iPrint I must think about a plan. But with those, Im going to proceed this way. I hope
    I have chosen a good plan!

    Virtual hostname must be resolved on both hosts while configuring SMD. Otherwise you'll not able to access Oracle Listener.

  • Best plan?

    Hello...
    I live in an area where my cell service is very poor at home, so I am looking to Skype to make calls when I'm home.
    Mostly, I will probably be using my iPhone to make Skype calls when connected to WiFi.  However, I am considering getting one of the Skype ready phones as well, so that everyone in the home can make calls when needed.   If possible, I would like to have a phone number associated with the account as well.
    I will only be making domestic calls (United States), and most often I would probably be receiving calls, not making them myself.
    With that info... what service should I be signing up for?   I see Premium... but does that come with a phone number?  Any suggestions are appreciated...

  • Installing Leopard and new internal hard drive at same time, best plan?

    Ok so basically the title explains what I need to do. I am currently travelling in Europe, and returning home to New York on Tuesday night. I have a new hitachi 250gb HD and will have Leopard waiting for me at home when I arrive, and will get right to doing this installation. I am writing on the discussion boards here because I am hoping the users here can give me their opinions on what is the best plan of action to do this whole install?
    So what I was thinking was, I should remove the hard drive that's already inside, put it into an external enclosure. Then, put my new blank 250gb hard drive into the macbook pro, close up the computer, then put the Leopard OSX install disk, and do a completely fresh install of Leopard. Then, after installing (or during installing?) I should run the migration assistant program to get all my files and settings etc. transferred over to the new internal hard drive with Leopard on it, from the old hard drive that will be plugged in from an enclosure as an external drive.
    Will this plan have any problems that I am not aware of? Is there a better process for doing this task? Any advice will be greatly appreciated! I am anxious to get my new hard drive into the computer because my 160gb is filling up, and dying so badly to use the new Leopard!!

    You could also put the new disk in the external enclosure, partition it using disk utility. Then make a clone of your current hard disk to the new external one using the restore feature in disk utility. Boot from the external disk and Install Leopard as an upgrade keeping all your files and setting. check everything is all running how I should and swap drives over. That's another option for you.

  • Java Add-In installation on a existing ABAP System (MSCS Cluster)

    Hi all
    we try to install a Java Add-In for a already existing ABAP System with
    SAPinst. The ABAP System is a NetWeaver2004s SR1 System in a MSCS Cluster.
    We have the Problem that we can´t choose the Installation Drive during
    the SAPInst Define Parameter Step during the "Central Services Instance (SCS) Java Add-In" Installation.
    But in the Installation Manual for
    NW2004s Java AS in Chapter 4.3.2 is stated:
    "Caution: You must install it on the same shared disk as the ASCS instance."
    If I run the Installation, the SCS will be installed on the local disk E:
    beside the Central Instance. But it need to be on the shared Disk P:
    beside the ASCS installation. How can I control this?
    Stefan

    obviously the network share saploc is existing in your system an pointing to a local device.
    Delete the local saploc share, install SCS instance, run MSCS first node, additional node, create the local share saploc again (don't forget to set permissions on the share, the default permission did only allow Read vor Everyone) and proceed with installation.
    There is a note in creation for this issue.

    Hi,
    You know what ?
    Step by step installation is different in every company because each company has a different usage of SAP software.
    It is precisly your job as a SAP sys admin, to study the problem, to solve it and to write the step by step documentation.
    In my company, it took me one month and my documentation is 250 pages long.
    You will not get someone else doing YOUR job instead of you.
    The standard SAP documenation is perfectly enough to study your particular case...

  • OFFLINE backup and DB13 jobs configuratins error in MSCS cluster with OFS

    Hello,
    We have recently installed SAP ERP 6.0 EhP4 SR1 in MSCS cluster using Oracle Fail Safe.
    The installation is successful and all the failover scenarios work fine.
    I need to schedule offline backups and DB13 jobs, which is not possible in current scenario as once the database shuts down it fails over to node2.
    I am following sapnote 657999 to install standalone gateway on both the nodes of the cluster and assigned the service to ORACLE<SID> group. the gw<SID> is different from the ERP<SID>.
    However, the  service SAP<gwSID>_<gwSN> fail to come up with the following error.
    The service SAPSGA_30 cannot be started on local computer
    error 1067: the process terminated unexpectedly.
    The ../SapCluster/sapgw and associated directories have full permission.
    Following are the contents of the profiles in ../SapCluster/sapgw
    default.pfl
    SAPDBHOST = ORACLEPRD
    gw30.pfl
    SAPSYSTEMNAME = SGA
    INSTANCE_NAME = GW30
    SAPSYSTEM = 30
    DIR_PROFILE=C:\WINDOWS\SapCluster\sapgw
    DIR_EXECUTABLE=C:\WINDOWS\SapCluster\sapgw
    DIR_INSTANCE=C:\WINDOWS\SapCluster\sapgw
    SAPLOCALHOST = ORACLEPRD
    SAPLOCALHOSTFULL = ORACLEPRD
    startgw.pfl
    SAPSYSTEMNAME = SGA
    INSTANCE_NAME = GW30
    SAPSYSTEM = 30
    DIR_EXECUTABLE = C:\WINDOWS\SapCluster\sapgw
    DIR_PROFILE = C:\WINDOWS\SapCluster\sapgw
    DIR_INSTANCE = C:\WINDOWS\SapCluster\sapgw
    _GW=gwrd.exe
    Start_Program_00 = local $(DIR_EXECUTABLE)\$(_GW) pf=$(DIR_PROFILE)\gw30.pfl
    Now as the service is a part of my ORACLE<ERP SID> group, everytime I try to bring the group online, it fails due to the gw service and toggles many times in the two nodes before coming to rest on one node withfailed gw service and database in the  up condition.
    Any insight in this regard will be really helpful.
    Thanks
    Nischal

    Hello,
    Yes we were able to configure offline backups.
    We opted to install standalone gateway on both nodes and added it to the DB group. That provides the essential shell console.
    You need to follow the SAP Note 657999 and then 378648 for setting the necessary environment variables.
    One piece of advice, use the SID and system no. for the independent gateway, different from any of your SAP installations.
    Thanks
    Nischal

  • What is the best plan for me? *please read details*

    My parents are getting me a 4S for my birthday but I have to pay for the plan.
    - I live in Alberta
    - I will use less than 500MB data
    - I have many friends in different provinces I will be texting
    - I never talk on the phone for more than 200 min a month
    - I'm currently with Koodo
    - I will be in Costa Rica for 4 months in the new year; I am probably gonna get a SIM card when I'm down there.
    What's the best service provider, and what's the best plan for me?

    Thanks, Meg.
    So would a Verizon device-only iPhone 5S still be the better choice if I plan to use GSM in the US (and not the CDMA part of the Verizon iPhone which would lock me to their service).
    Ideally, if I had the device in my hand, I would like to use TMobile's prepaid plan (40$ for unlimited talk, text, and 500 mb of data). Upon getting the phone, couldn't I just discard the included verizon simcard (without my activation) and just pop in the TMobile SIM card since the Verizon device-only instrument comes with the GSM unlocked? ( In other words, I don't have to ask Verizon to unlock the GSM part of the iPhone 5S )
    Also, if this is what my goal is (to use a prepaid Tmobile sim), I could just buy an unlocked sim-free iPhone 5S from Apple, right? I dont have to ask for a Verizon device-only iPhone 5S if I want nothing to do with Verizon or use their CDMA service? I'm guessing a device-only iPhone 5s (regardless of carrier label) is the same as unlocked sim-free iphone 5S?

    Can anybody help me configure the SAPGUI on the end user's system in a MSCS Cluster installation ?
    I have Central Instance on Node 1 and Dialog Instance on Node 2 with SQL Server 2005 on Windows 2003 Enterprise Edition. The SQL and SAP cluster is working absolutely fine, but when there is a failover to Node 2, the user's connection to the server is getting disconnected

  • PI 7.1 Installation on MSCS Cluster

    Hi Sapers,
                         I'm In the middle of Installation of PI 7.1 on MSCS Cluster
                         My Problem is while Installing In Node A I have chosen for Host Agent and SAPOSCOL a Shared Drive(G:) which
                         Should actually be a Local Drive(C , But In Node B I have Chosen Local Drive (C
                         Now My question
                         1) Can I change the path In the Registry, If yes can anyone tell me the procedure and
                          2) What would be the implications or Consequences?
                          3) Will My Installation Go Successfully
    Thanks In Advance
    GHK

    Installation of SAPOSCOL on a different logical partion within the same local host is fine, obviously not on a different host as the SAPOSCOL is the operating system collector for the host on which it is installed.
    Regards.
