Best portable speakers for macbook?

Any sugguestions for portable speaker for my new MacBook?  I just got a BIGJambox but I'm very disappointed.  It sounds tinny and won't stay connected via bluetooth.  Don't necessarily need bluetooth but quality sound would be nice.

As sound is a very subjective thing, it's hard to say which sound best but if you're looking for portable speakers, I would say either TravelSound 400 or TravelSound 250. I prefer the TravelSound 400 over the 250 model.

Can someone please tell mewhich is the best antivirus program for macbook pro?

    Hi..
Both Sophos Anti-Virus for Mac and ClamXav are recomended and both are free.
Actually, malware is more of a threat on a Mac than a virus.

Here's the one I love, the Altec Lansing iM 237. Don't be put off by the small size or cheap price. I have two, one for home and one for my studio/travel.

  • What are the best AirPlay speakers for Apple devices?

What are the best AirPlay speakers for Apple devices? I would like to get some good speakers to be used with my iPod, iPhone and iPad. Ideally, they should be able to play using AirPlay and be quite powerful, but with a good design if possible.
I am particularly interested in the Fidelio range of speakers by Philips.
Thank you for your help in advance.

Best is going to be a matter of opinion.  What environment are the speakers going to be used in? How large is the room? What type of music are you going to play? What features/functions would you like in the speakers? What price range are you looking for?  All of these are going to effect which speakers will best fit your needs.

  • Best Portable Computer for me?

    Hi all.
Just wondering what is the best apple portable computor for me?
I'll be using it for college work, downloading/watching videos & music & making videos.
    I have the Iphone 4 & i love it!
    Thanks,
    Rob.

First of all if you. Are really gonna follow my advise then I must tell you that there is no cd drive in any of the MacBook air though in this times we use less CD but we still stumble across them also the graphic card is no good for games and the camera is not HD  but if you are not harmed by this disadvantages you can take a 13 inch model because if has a big screen with 720 resolution and it also has more memory It also has an sd card slot so this MacBook is perfect for you
If you feel I gave less info you can always go to http://store.apple.com/us/browse/home/shop_mac/family/macbook_air/select
And by the way you can take a portable cd drive for the MacBook but then you will end up haveing many stuff

  • Best portable speakers?

I want to get a really good pair of portable speakers to use with my MacbookPro when I'm on the road. Any recommendations? I'm looking for best audio quality (and I know a 2-piece set won't compare to a 3 or 5).
    Thanks in advance...

If anyone's interested, I bought the Logitech V20 speakers - they sound great and are small enough (just barely) for travel.

  • Best RAM configuration for Macbook (mid 2007)

Hi, I have a Macbook (mid 2007) with 1 GB ram and I would like to upgrade. Currently I have 2x512MB, so both of my memory slots are taken. Is it a good idea to have one 512MB card and a 2GB card in the other slot? Otherwise, what is the best RAM configuration for a mid 2007 macbook?
I am also looking into purchasing this memory card for my macbook, is this a good choice?

Yes, I read the figure 128 in regards to the benefit. Something about interleaving, maybe?
In doing a Google search for that article I saw, I found this:
    http://www.mac-forums.com/forums/apple-notebooks/99215-4gb-ram-my-macbook.html
the maximum amount of RAM your laptop can take is 3.3GB. So while you can physically insert 4GB of RAM, OS X will only be able to see 3.3GB of it.
But I don't know how knowledgeable that poster is who says it can utilize 3.3 GB. I do know that the full 4 GB shows up in the System Profiler on my MacBook Core 2 Duo 2.16 GHz.

  • Best care practices for macbook pro

Hi I would like to be more active in preventing issues on my macbook.  I use it constantly for school and work, and I rely on it heavily, and so I want to keep it running as best as possible for as long as possible, understanding that while some degradation is inevitable, there is a lot that is preventable.  I apologize if there is another thread like this, i did search, but didnt find anything.  thanks in advance for any feedback from those much more knowledgeable than myself.  I'm runnin:
    MacBookPro8,1
    Os 10.7.2
    2.7 ghz Intel Core i7
    4 GB 1333 MHz DDR3
    Boot ROM Version:          MBP81.0047.B24
    SMC Version (system):          1.68f98
I'm basically looking for tips on the best diagnostics software for my system, and the best implementation of the software (run it off an external? etc) and best practices for the keeping the computer running smoothly. Thanks again. -dL

Make redundant backups, keeping at least one off-site at all times. One backup is not enough. Don’t back up your backups; make them independent of each other. Don’t rely completely on any single backup method, such as Time Machine.
Keep your software up to date. Software Update can be set to notify you automatically of updates to the Mac OS. Some third-party applications have a similar feature, if you don’t mind letting them phone home. Otherwise you have to check yourself on a regular basis.
Don't install crapware, such as "haxies," “add-ons,” “toolbars,” “enhancers," “optimizers,” “accelerators,” “extenders,” “cache cleaners,” “defragmenters,” “firewalls,” “guardians,” “defenders,” “protectors,” most “plugins,” commercial "virus scanners,” or "utilities." With very few exceptions, this kind of software is useless, or worse than useless. The more actively promoted the product, the more likely it is to be junk. The only software you should install is that which (a) directly enables you to do the things you use a computer for: creating and editing documents, communicating, playing, and so on; and (b) does not modify the way other software works. Never install third-party software of any kind unless you know how to uninstall it.
The free anti-malware application ClamXav is not crap, and although not needed by everyone, may be useful under some circumstances, such as being on a mixed Mac-Windows enterprise network.
Beware of trojans. A trojan is malicious software (“malware”) that the user is duped into installing voluntarily. Such attacks were rare on the Mac platform until recently, but are now increasingly common, and increasingly dangerous. There is some built-in protection against downloading malware, but you can’t rely on it -- the attackers are always one day ahead of the defense. You can’t rely on third-party protection either. What you can rely on is common-sense awareness -- not paranoia, which only makes you more vulnerable. Never install software from an untrustworthy or unknown source. If in doubt, do some research. If a web page seems deceptive, it is deceptive. Any page that prompts you to install a “codec” or “plugin” that comes from the same site, or an unknown site, is untrustworthy. Software with a known corporate brand, such as Adobe Flash, must be acquired directly from the developer. No intermediary is acceptable, and don’t trust links unless you know how to parse them. Any file that is automatically downloaded from a web page without your having requested it should go straight into the Trash. Any website that tells you that you have a “virus” or that something is wrong with your computer is rogue.
Relax, don’t do it. Besides the above, no routine maintenance is necessary or beneficial for the vast majority of users, specifically not “cleaning caches,” “zapping the PRAM,” “rebuilding the directory,” or “repairing permissions.” Such measures are for solving problems as they arise, not for preventive maintenance. The very height of futility is running an expensive third-party utility called “Disk Warrior” when nothing is wrong, or even when something is wrong and you have backups, which you must have. Don’t waste money on Disk Warrior or anything like it.

  • Best Equalizer Settings for Macbook

I have a MacBook and use iTunes regularly. As you are probably aware, the speakers on MacBooks are not the highest quality. There is a small speakers preset but that tends to distort at the low end (ie Bass.) Are there any music minded people out there that have any suggestions? maybe approx values for the eq sliders? I listen to mostly classic rock and also blue grass.

    hi,
sound settings are so personnal that I doubt you will receive an answer here that will gives you satisfaction.
personally, I prefer not playing with the equalizer and live well with having it flat. but my expectation aren't very on the computer's speaker and I usually will use external speakers to improve the quality of the playback. "small speaker" setting will try to boost the low end to compensate the limitation of the speakers. In my point of view, there is not much more to do.
I don't use it personnally, but I know some peoples really like sound enhancement given by third-party software like iWow (http://www.apple.com/downloads/macosx/ipod_itunes/iwow.html).

  • Best portable charger for phone and tablet

What is the best portable charger

Agreed - the best depends on what you want, like and need to charge.
I got one from Huuman (http://www.amazon.com/dp/B00NJY11RK)
And I love it. I like that it's slim so I can put it in my pocket. I found most high capacity chargers are chunky and for me, that's not the best. Plus the color is gorgous gotta look good right? lol - it charges my ipod6 and my ipad mini super fast.
I found out there's a deal if you buy it from their website:  http://store.imhuuman.com/collections/frontpage/products/maxx-portable-external- battery-charger
the promo is for 10% off till end of Dec. Try this code: HIHUMN10

  • Bluetooth speakers for macbook?

anyone suggest a good pair of blue tooth speakers for the macbook?

while i can't suggest a good pair for you to buy, i can suggest a pair that you definitely shouldn't buy. I bought the Sharper Image Bluetooth Speakers about a month ago for my MacBook, and for some reason they do not work (even though the manual says the speakers are compatible with Apple computers). Whenever I try to detect the speakers from my MacBook, it just says that they "do not have the necessary services." I've tried countless times to get support from the Sharper Image people, who have been of absolutely zero help--I'm guessing that it must be some Bluetooth compatibility issue with the MacBook. If anyone has suggestions on what I can do to fix this problem though, I'd be greatly appreciative!
moral of the story--be very careful when buying Bluetooth items for your Mac...there seem to be a lot of unresolved issues with certain Bluetooh devices.
