Best practice for a new wordpress install / dreamweaver
One thing that is being shown in the demo video's. A pre created wordpress document, I wish, they started to show with a new wordpress install / setting up the server etc.
What are the best practices with using a service which has a one button wordpress install. Install wordpress with one button install on web hosting servers?
Is there a way to sync with your site that you can work on the live server? I noticed everytime i seem to add my server it will connect but never sync with a new site / server. Test Connection Link's though.
Am I going to be forced to install / purchase mamp to more easily create install's of wordpress?
Is there anyway to Sync, a new site folder on a local machine with an existing ftp site?

I have such a service (installatron) running on the webserver of my hosting comapny and I like it a lot. It installs the latest version, is incredibily fast ( a few seconds for the complete install, really), handles the database settings for you (it creates a database on your server, a database user and password) and it even handles the safety settings correctly (like setting sufficiently secure "secret keys" and passwords etc). Remember to print out the mail you receive with the passwords and database settings and keep it in a safe place. Not all services are as good as this one though, so check that out first. (or later, you can always do a re-install later) Also check if the Wordpress install is the latest version.

Yes, you can work on a live server if you set up your site correctly from the Site/new site or Site/manage site menu in Dreamweaver.
You can also GET the remote site and keep it on your own computer, but you won't see anything happening if you make changes since Wordpress needs to run on a webserver running PHP and MySQL. You can also work locally and upload the changed files to your remote server using PUT from the Files window. You can even do this automaticaly by checking "automatically upload files to server on save" from the advanced/remote info tab in the Site Definition window.
Am I going to be forced to install / purchase mamp to more easily create install's of wordpress?
If you want to run Wordpress on your own machine, for development and testing purposes you will need to run mamp or wamp so Wordpress can run.
If you want to run Wordpress on a webserver you won't need it. Dreamweaver or an FTP program and a texteditor is all you need.
Firefox and the webdeveloper plug-in (of Firebug) is also very handy, check that out.

I posted a few days ago re failing HDD on mid-2007 iMac. Long story short, took it into Apple store, Genius worked on it for 45 mins before decreeing it in need of new HDD. After considering the expenses of adding memory, new drive, hardware and installation costs, I got a brand new iMac entry level (21.5" screen,
2.7 GHz Intel Core i5, 8 GB 1600 MHz DDR3 memory, 1TB HDD running Mavericks). Also got a Superdrive. I am not needing to migrate anything from the old iMac.
I was surprised that a physical disc for the OS was not included. So I am looking for any Best Practices for setting up this iMac, specifically in the area of backup and recovery. Do I need to make a boot DVD? Would that be in addition to making a Time Machine full backup (using external G-drive)? I have searched this community and the Help topics on Apple Support and have not found any "checklist" of recommended actions. I realize the value of everyone's time, so any feedback is very appreciated.OS X has not been officially issued on physical media since OS X 10.6 (arguably 10.7 was issued on some USB drives, but this was a non-standard approach for purchasing and installing it).
To reinstall the OS, your system comes with a recovery partition that can be booted to by holding the Command-R keys immediately after hearing the boot chimes sound. This partition boots to the OS X tools window, where you can select options to restore from backup or reinstall the OS. If you choose the option to reinstall, then the OS installation files will be downloaded from Apple's servers.
If for some reason your entire hard drive is damaged and even the recovery partition is not accessible, then your system supports the ability to use Internet Recovery, which is the same thing except instead of accessing the recovery boot drive from your hard drive, the system will download it as a disk image (again from Apple's servers) and then boot from that image.
Both of these options will require you have broadband internet access, as you will ultimately need to download several gigabytes of installation data to proceed with the reinstallation.
There are some options available for creating your own boot and installation DVD or external hard drive, but for most intents and purposes this is not necessary.
The only "checklist" option I would recommend for anyone with a new Mac system, is to get a 1TB external drive (or a drive that is at least as big as your internal boot drive) and set it up as a Time Machine backup. This will ensure you have a fully restorable backup of your entire system, which you can access via the recovery partition for restoring if needed, or for migrating data to a fresh OS installation. -
Best practice for running multiple sites on 1 CF install?
Hi-
I'm setting up a new hosting environment (Windows Server 2008 Standard 64 bit VPS configuration, MySQL, IIS 7, CF 9)
Has anyone seen any docs or can anyone suggest best practices for configuring multiple sites in this environment? At this point I'm thinking simple is best, one new site in IIS for each client (domain) and point it to CF.
Given this environment, is anyone aware of any gotchas within the setup of CF 9 on IIS 7?
Thank you in advance,
RichThere's nothing wrong with that approach. You can run as many IIS sites as you like against a single CF install.
As for installing CF on IIS 7, I recommend that you do the following: install CF 9 without connecting it to IIS, then installing the 9.0.1 upgrade and any hotfixes, then connecting CF to IIS using the web server configuration utility. This will keep you from having to install the IIS 6 compatibility layer that's needed with CF 9 but not with CF 9.0.1.

Best practice for migration to new hardware
Hi,
We are commissioning new hardware for our Web Server. Our current webserver is version 6.1SP4, and for the new server we've decided to stay with 6.1 but install SP7.
Is there a best practice for migrating content from one physical server to another?
What configuration files should I watch out for?
Hopefully the jump from SP4 to SP7 won't cause too many problems.
Thanks,
Johnunfortunately, there is no quick solution for migrating from 1 server to other. you will need to carefully reconstruct
- acl rules
- server hostname configurations
- any certificates that have been created on the old machine -
Could you please share your best practices for setting up a new Windows Server 2012 r2 Hyper-V Virtualized AD DC, that will be running on a new WinSrv 2012 r2 host server. (This
will be for a brand new network setup, new forest, domain, etc.)
Specifically, your best practices regarding:
the sizing of non virtual and virtual volumes/partitions/drives,
the use of sysvol, logs, & data volumes/drives on hosts & guests,
RAID levels for the host and the guest(s),
IDE vs SCSI and drivers both non virtual and virtual and the booting there of,
disk caching settings on both host and guests.
Thanks so much for any information you can share.A bit of non essential additional info:
We are small to midrange school district who, after close to 20 years on Novell networks, have decided to design and create a new Microsoft network and migrate all of our data and services
over to the new infrastructure . We are planning on rolling out 2012 r2 servers with as much Hyper-v virtualization as possible.
During the last few weeks we have been able to find most of the information we need to undergo this project, and most of the information was pretty solid with little ambiguity, except for
information regarding virtualizing the DCs, which as been a bit inconsistent.
Yes, we have read all the documents that most of these posts tend point to, but found some, if not most are still are referring to performing this under Srvr 2008 r2, and haven’t really
seen all that much on Srvr2012 r2.
We have read these and others:
Introduction to Active Directory Domain Services (AD DS) Virtualization (Level 100),
Virtualized Domain Controller Technical Reference (Level 300),
Virtualized Domain Controller Cloning Test Guidance for Application Vendors,
Support for using Hyper-V Replica for virtualized domain controllers.
Again, thanks for any information, best practices, cookie cutter or otherwise that you can share.

Best practice for data migration install v1.40 - Error 2732 Directory manag
Hi
I'm attempting to install SAP Best Practice for Data migration 1.40 on Win Server 2008 R2 (64 bit).
Prerequisite error
Installation program stops with missing file error
The following file was not found
... \migration\InstallationWizard\BusinessObjects Data Services\setup.exe
The file is necessary for successful installation. Please connect to internet or refer to Quick Guide (available on SAP note 1527151) for information regarding the above file.
Windows installer log displays
Error 2732 Directory Manager not initialized
SAP note 1527151 does not exist or is internal.
Any help appreciated on what is the root cause of the error as the file does not exist in that folder in the installation zip file.
Other prerequisite of .NET 3.5.1 met already.
Patch is released since 20.11.2011 so I presume that it is a good installation set.
Thanks,
AlanHi Alan,

ArunrajHello Ramesh,
you should have a look at the SAP Instguide, and if it tells you to do as your colleagues say, open a ticket to SAP and ask, whether doing it the otherw ay could have spoiled your system. Anything but an official "yes, it's ok" won't help you.
For the other guys: have a loook at http://service.sap.com/instguides, there you can find all the guides you need.

New mac - what is best practice for accounts?
I am about to get a new mac (imac g5), and would like it to work well (ie file transfer and backup to from) my existing powerbook.
Is there a best practice for account set up? should I use the same accounts between the two or can I set up a new account on the new mac?
Related to this: what will key change sync give me? does that only work with the same accounts on two macs?
thanks
JohnWith Tiger there is a migration assistant that will move everything over from your Powerbook to your new iMac G5. All you need is a firewire cable and when prompted in your first start-up select migration assistant and connect the two computers. You will need to boot up your Powerbook holding down the 't' key before you connect the two together. Good luck, Jack.

What is best practice for installing Yosemite
I am currently on OS X Mavericks version 10.9.5 Macbook pro 13. 2.6 ghz intel for i5, 8gb 1600 mhz ddr3.
I am now downloading yosemite 10.10.1 but since i've been reading all these negative feedback so far, i am having second thoughts if i should continue to install the upgrade or not.
Any suggestion What is best practice for installing Yosemite? Or is it not yet time to upgrade since the platform is premature yet?
Thanks in advance.Check your apps are compatible with 10.10 - roaringapps.com
http://www.etresoft.com/etrecheck can show what is running & installed - look for updates on the developer own sites.
If you have many kernel extensions or startup items look for updates to them too
Take a full bootable backup to another disk via Carbon Copy Cloner, Super Duper! or Disk Utility
Disconnect the backup before you begin any install (ideally set it aside & leave it untouched incase you need to go back to 10.9)
Personally I prefer a clean install when there are signs of multiple migrations (if you have upgraded several OS for a period of years). Setup Assistant/ Migration Assistant can import user data from a backup, but consider that Apps & 'other data' should be manually reinstalled from the latest versions.
If you clean install (erase the HD before installation) then make sure you deauthorise iTunes & any other apps that are associated online (like find my Mac).
Basically the steps you would take before selling a Mac…

Installing SAP Best Practices for HCM v2.60
Hi Gurus,
Has anyone installed SAP Best practices for HCM. I have to install the building blocks in the system. Can anyone guide me How to approach it? I have downloaded SAP BP v2.60 for HCM. How will I start transfering it to the client's SAP ECC 6.0 system. My Client needs Best Practices for HCM in their system.
Any kind of help is deeply appreciated. Please help.
Regards,
SanchitHi Shaukat!
Please take a look at http://help.sap.com -> SAP Best Practices -> Cross-Industry Packages.
You can also try and take a look at http://service.sap.com/swdc -> Download -> Installations & Upgrades -> Entry by Application Group -> SAP Best Practices
Caution! You only can use the BP if this is suitable to your ERP version! Check if your HCM BP is for ERP2004. If so it will not work on an ERP2005 System.
I hope this helps!

Can we install Best Practice for Fabricated Metals V1.604 on ECC 6.0 EHP5
Hi Expert Team,
We are planning to implement Best Practice for Fabricated Metals V1.604 on ECC 6.0 environment.
We are on ECC 6.0 EHP5, but the SAP installation document mentions to install Fabricated Metals V1.604 on ECC 6.0 with EHP4.
Also I dont think SAP has released Best Practice for Fabricated Metals for EHP5.
I would request your confirmation if we can still install Best Practice for Fabricated Metals V1.604 on ECC 6.0 EHP5, does EHP5 supports BP V1.604, Let us know if there will be any impact on Fabricated Metals V1.604 if we install on EHP5.
I didnt find any SAP note or document to answer my question. Please provide some reference for the same.
Looking forward for your response.
Thank you!
