Best Practice for Creating a New WebHelp Project from an Existing One

I'm currently working in WebHelp Pro (RH version is 9.0.2.271).
I have a WebHelp project which currently supports the 2012 version of one of our projects. What I needed to do was to create a separate 2013 project, using the 2012 files as the starting point. I couldn't find a way in RH to create a new project by importing an existing WebHelp project, so I copied the 2012 files to a new directory, opened up the project, and renamed it.
What prompts this question is that following this exercise, all seemed well, for a time. However, I have recently had to create new topics in the 2012 version. However, when I imported these topics to the 2013 project and compiled, they vanished--although the htm files still appear in the appropriate 2013 file folder (when viewed with Windows Explorer).
After reading some forum postings, I thought that I might have corrupted my database by improperly creating the new project--but if what I did is the wrong way to go about it, I'm not sure what the correct way is. I will be grateful for any suggestions.

The easy way to do this is create a copy using Windows Explorer.
Open the project and go to File > Rename.
Then you have your 2013 ready made project.

  • Trouble in creating a new iCloud account from the existing one

    my dad gave me his iPad which he bought(iPad 2) it's troubling me with the iCloud account, the iPad has my dad's existing iCloud account and I want to delete it but I don't have the password so does my dad he doesn't have the password for the account.so my question is could you assist me on how to create a new iCloud account without having the password of the old one.it uses iOS 7.1.2.

    You won't be able to delete the existing account in order to set up a new one without the password for the old account.  If your father doesn't remember the password, he can reset it as explained here: iCloud: Change your iCloud password.

  • How to create a new database instance from an existing one?

    Hi, I basically want to create a snapshot of a production
    instance (version 8.1.7) for querying purposes. Would anyone
    tell me the steps involved? What I did as follows:
    1. Copy all data files to a new location
    2. Modify init.ora accordingly. I believe there is no separate
    control file for this version.
    But when I startup the instance, got this error:
    ORA-01103: database name 'TRITON' in controlfile is not 'HERCULE'
    What is missing? Do these data files contains links to the
    previous instance name?
    Thanks for any help.

    Hi All,
    I need some help in recreating new database instance.
    Here are the steps I have done so far:
    1. Created a database with name 'LASTDB' using DBCA
    2. Connected to RMAN.
    3. RMAN>SET DBID=******; (of the source database)
    4. Connect to target. RMAN>connect target SYS/*****;
    5. Executed controlfile restore on RMAN.
         RMAN>Run{
    Allocate channel D1 Type DISK;
              Set controlfile autobackup format for device type DISK to
    ‘\\<ip_address>\Backup\Prod\%F’;
    Restore controlfile from autobackup;
    6. RMAN> ALTER DATABASE MOUNT;
    Now got an error saying ORA-01103: database name ‘PRODDB' in control file is not ‘LASTDB’
    I tried using NID to change the database name but it's throwing an error that database is not mounted.
    I have browsed a lot and found that I need to recreate a control file of the production database using ALTER DATABASE BACKUP CONTROLFILE TO TRACE and should edit the trace file. But it also says to shutdown the source database which is production database and I cannot try that.
    Also I have tried adding a line to init.ora like lock_space_name = LASTDB. Also tried replacing everything from LASTDB to PRODDB but that didn't work either.
    I have been trying to find a solution to this. Please bear with me as I'm a beginner and please let me know how I can fix the error.
    I am running oracle 10.1.0.2.0 enterprise edition on windows 2000.
    Thanks for your patience,
    KG

  • How do I create a new boot disk from an existing one?

    I have a G4 Quicksilver with internal PATA disk, running 10.4. I want to upgrade the internal disk from 40 GB to 160 GB. I have installed a second disk and can see it fine, but what I really want is to put the system on the new disk and have it be the one and only boot disk in the system. Is there a straightforward way to do this? Is a carbon copy cloner the way to go? Will that have problems with the different disk sizes? Will it handle bad blocks properly? Isn't there a way to just use drag-and-drop?
    Once I have made a copy, how do I make it the boot disk? Do I have to swap it into the PATA "master" position to do this?

    Cloning And Backup Tools
    A bootable clone is an exact copy of your drive which is capable of booting your computer. Making a copy of your computer which is capable of actually starting the computer requires special copying procedures. Some people just back up data files but if you have problems you have to reinstall all your operating system and all your applications. With a bootable clone you just start up from the backup drive and clone back everything.
    To copy files from one hard drive to another hard drive you can use:

  • Best practices for folder structure in SOA Project

    Actually, In my project, I have more than 10 BPEL process and several DBAdapters and some HumanTasks. For each BPEL process, JDeveloper creates .bpel, .componentType, wsdl files. For DBAdapters JDeveloper creates lot of files, and same for HumanTasks as well.
    By default Jdeveloper puts all these files in root directory of the Project. It looks messy having 100's of files in root directory.
    How can I organize all these files?
    What are the best practices for folder structure in SOA Project ?
    Thanks

    Yes Yatan. I did noticed that Polling service WSDL disabled in EM . But I want to try this approach beacause I want to move all database related stuff to one composite. I have another composite with 3 BPEL Processes. One BPEL queries external webservice and save the response in DB. One BPEL just fires the first Process(Query) and respond to caller with an unique id. I have Another BPEL which keeps polling on database for 5 sec(I'm using PICK Activity), if there is any new record in database it will retrun to caller. If no new records in database, returns empty to the caller after 5 sec.
    If I put all these in one composite, having lot of files in root directory, the composite really looks very messy.
    As you said, I want to have 2 composites. First Compoiste will have 3 BPEL processes, and 2nd Composite will have DB Polling and DB Save. I will have another project for MDS to store XSDs.
    So because I can't have Polling service as exposed service, I have to keep Polling service in the same Composite where the BPEL is. Now again it goes back to Big and messy project.
    Is there any way I can separate all DB related including polling in a separate Composite ?
    Thanks

  • BEST PRACTICES FOR CREATING DISCOVERER DATABASE CONNECTION -PUBLIC VS. PRIV

    I have enabled SSO for Discoverer. So when you browse to http://host:port/discoverer/viewer you get prompted for your SSO
    username/password. I have enabled users to create their own private
    connections. I log in as portal and created a private connection. I then from
    Oracle Portal create a portlet and add a discoverer worksheet using the private
    connection that I created as the portal user. This works fine...users access
    the portal they can see the worksheet. When they click the analyze link, the
    users are prompted to enter a password for the private connection. The
    following message is displayed:
    The item you are requesting requires you to enter a password. This could occur because this is a private connection or
    because the public connection password was invalid. Please enter the correct
    password now to continue.
    I originally created a public connection...and then follow the same steps from Oracle portal to create the portlet and display the
    worksheet. Worksheet is displayed properly from Portal, when users click the
    analyze link they are taken to Discoverer Viewer without having to enter a
    password. The problem with this is that when a user browses to
    http://host:port/discoverer/viewer they enter their SSO information and then
    any user with an SSO account can see the public connection...very insecure!
    When private connections are used, no connection information is displayed to
    SSO users when logging into Discoverer Viewer.
    For the very first step, when editing the Worksheet portlet from Portal, I enter the following for Database
    Connections:
    Publisher: I choose either the private or public connection that I created
    Users Logged In: Display same data to all users using connection (Publisher's Connection)
    Users Not Logged In: Do no display data
    My question is what are the best practices for creating Discoverer Database
    Connections.
    Is there a way to create a public connection, but not display it in at http://host:port/discoverer/viewer?
    Can I restrict access to http://host:port/discoverer/viewer to specific SSO users?
    So overall, I want roughly 40 users to have access to my Portal Page Group. I then want to
    display portlets with Discoverer worksheets. Certain worksheets I want to have
    the ability to display the analyze link. When the SSO user clicks on this they
    will be taken to Discoverer Viewer and prompted for no logon information. All
    SSO users will see the same data...there is no need to restrict access based on
    SSO username...1 database user will be set up in either the public or private
    connection.

    You can make it happen by creating a private connection for 40 users by capi script and when creating portlet select 2nd option in Users Logged in section. In this the portlet uses there own private connection every time user logs in.
    So that it won't ask for password.
    Another thing is there is an option of entering password or not in ASC in discoverer section, if your version 10.1.2.2. Let me know if you need more information

  • Windows 8 installation error: "We couldn't create a new partition or locate an existing one. For more information, see the Setup log files."

    I recently tried testing Server 2012 for installation and I had a major issue.  Windows 8 also uses the same method for installation so this should also apply to Windows 8.  I thought this might be helpful for other people who have the same
    problem.  My setup is a 1U server with no DVD drive, no hard drives, and only USB.  I have a new hard drive that I wanted to install Server onto, so I put it in and ran the installer off a thumb drive.  I kept receiving the following error when
    I tried to format the hard drive and proceed with the installation:
    "We couldn't create a new partition or locate an existing one. For more information, see the Setup log files."
    After hours of troubleshooting, I determined my problem was I was using a thumb drive to install it, and Windows didn't like it.  Some people had similar issues when similar devices were plugged in (i.e. external hard drives, SD cards, CF cards, etc).
    In my case, it was the installation drive itself was a thumb drive.  I ended up digging up an external DVD drive and placed the installation onto a DVD.  Worked flawlessly.  Now I am up and running.
    I tried
    the steps here to no avail.
    Hope this helps anyone else with the same problems.

  • Help with creating a new XML file from an existing DOM tree!!

    i want to create a new XML file from an existing DOM tree
    i used this code to create a new document:
    static public Document createDocument(String fileName) throws ParserConfigurationException//,IOException,SAXException

    //          handle exception creating DocumentBuilder
              catch ( ParserConfigurationException parserError ) {
                        throw new ParserConfigurationException();

    public void exportDocument(Document document) {
              try {
                   Source xmlSource = new DOMSource( document );
                   Result result = new StreamResult( System.out );

    But the file was not created and i didn't find where can i specify the DTD that the XML file should use and where can i enter the name of the XML file itself
    Another questoin can i write a DTD file dynamically during the execution of the program??

  • Best practice for SWC's in shared projects?

    I'm creating a number of Flex components in Flash for a project where the development responsibilities will be shared between myself and another developer via SVN.
    My question is regarding linking the SWC's in the Flex Build Path. The .swc files are stored in the project src folder (src/components/swc/Tab.swc) It doesn't look like I can use a relative path. When the other developer opens the project on his local workspace, will he have have to relink the SWC's?
    What's the best practice for a scneario like this?

    Um... ok. But, don't you still have to link the swc?
    What I mean is, once I do that (place the swc in the library), I am unable to access that component. Seems as though I'm missing a step.
    Will continue to consult the documentation, but some clarity on this would be appreciated.  Thanks!

  • Best practice for migration to new hardware

    Hi,
    We are commissioning new hardware for our Web Server. Our current webserver is version 6.1SP4, and for the new server we've decided to stay with 6.1 but install SP7.
    Is there a best practice for migrating content from one physical server to another?
    What configuration files should I watch out for?
    Hopefully the jump from SP4 to SP7 won't cause too many problems.
    Thanks,
    John

    unfortunately, there is no quick solution for migrating from 1 server to other. you will need to carefully reconstruct
    - acl rules
    - server hostname configurations
    - any certificates that have been created on the old machine

  • What is the best practice for creating master pages and styles with translated text?

    I format translated text all the time for my company. I want to create a set of master pages and styles for each language and then import those styles into future translated documents. That way, the formatting can be done quickly and easily.
    What are the best practices for doing this? As a company this has been tried in the past, but without success. I'd like to know what other people are doing in this regard.
    Thank you!

    I create a master template that is usually void of content, with the exception I define as many of the paragraph styles I believe can/will be used with examples of their use in the body of the document--a style guide for that client. When beginning a new document for that client, I import those styles from the paragraph styles panel.
    Exception to this is when in a rush I begin documentation first, then begin new work. Then in the new work, I still pull in those defined paragraph and or object styles via their panels into the new work.
    There are times I need new styles. If they have broader applicability than a one-off instance or publication, then I open the style template for that client and import that style(s) from the publication containing the new style(s) and create example paragraphs and usage instructions.
    Take care, Mike

  • Best Practices for multiple authors using single project?

    We are having many issues, particularly with moving, renaming, and multiple check out warnings.  We have a single project with many authors and it seems like RH is not designed to work that way. There is an article in the RH devnet-archive in an article entitled "Sharing RoboHelp Project Among Multiple Authors" that says"
    "At first there may be the temptation to let every author work on every file in a project.  This is certainly not a best practice. Regardless of source contraol, it is always best to designate certain authors as owning certain content-related sections, folders, or topics within a project -particulary at the folder level."
    This statement, and our experience seems to indicate that RH is not a true CMS as we had envisioned.  What are the best practices for this scenario to avoid stepping on each others toes and having problems with source control.

    I have moved this to the source control forum for the gurus there to answer.
    Meantime I must admit I read that statement the same way as you first time. However, on rereading I think what the author is saying is not that what you want cannot be done, rather it is best practice to guide authors to work in discrete areas.
    I will leave it to the author or another guru to give you a more complete answer.
