Best practice for displaying multiple subpanels?

I have about 20 different subpanels to display controls for different functional groups.   What is considered the best way to represent these on the main front panel?  For example:
- tab control with a sub-panel on each tab?
- Single subpanel using Insert/Remove methods to display the selected subpanel
(select visible panel with buttons or ring menu?)
- some other way?
Considering from both code development/maintenance point of view and user experience point of view, what do you consider the best way to implement this?
Thanks and Best Regards,

Hello,
It is hard to determine what is best for your specific type of information. In the end, they all do the same thing, but what is the best for your users? What looks the best? Which provides the easiest accessibility? Which do you find to be most intuitite? There are instances where any number of these methods might work for a particular application and would not be as good in another one. This all depends on how you would like to present the information to the user and also the level of accessibility that you would like. If there was only one best way to do this, why even give options?

  • Best Practice for using multiple models

    Hi Buddies,
Can u tell me the best practices for using multiple models in single WD application?
Means --> I am using 3 RFCs on single application for my function. Each time i am importing that RFC model under
WD --->Models and i did model binding seperately to Component Controller. Is this is the right way to impliment  multiple            models  in single application ?

It very much depends on your design, but One RFC per model is definitely a no no.
Refer to this document to understand how should you use the model in most efficient way.

  • Best practice for running multiple sites on 1 CF install?

    Hi-
I'm setting up a new hosting environment (Windows Server 2008 Standard 64 bit VPS  configuration, MySQL, IIS 7, CF 9)
Has anyone seen any docs or can anyone suggest best practices for configuring multiple sites in this environment? At this point I'm thinking simple is best, one new site in IIS for each client (domain) and point it to CF.
Given this environment, is anyone aware of any gotchas within the setup of CF 9 on IIS 7?
    Thank you in advance,
    Rich

There's nothing wrong with that approach. You can run as many IIS sites as you like against a single CF install.
As for installing CF on IIS 7, I recommend that you do the following: install CF 9 without connecting it to IIS, then installing the 9.0.1 upgrade and any hotfixes, then connecting CF to IIS using the web server configuration utility. This will keep you from having to install the IIS 6 compatibility layer that's needed with CF 9 but not with CF 9.0.1.

  • Best Practices for FSCM Multiple systems scenario

    Hi guys,
We have a scenario to implement FSCM credit, collections and dispute management solution for our landscape comprising the following:
    a 4.6c system
    a 4.7 system
    an ECC 5 system
    2 ECC6 systems
I have documented my design, but would like to double check and rob minds with colleagues regarding the following areas/questions.
Business partner replication and synchronization: what is the best practice for the initial replication of customers in each of the different systems to business partners in the FSCM system? (a) for the initial creation, and (b) for on-going synchronization of new customers and changes to existing customers?
Credit Management: what is the best practice for update of exposures from SD and FI-AR from each of the different systems? Should this be real-time for each transaction from SD and AR  (synchronous) or periodic, say once a day? (assuming we can control this in the BADI)
Is there any particular point to note in dispute management?
Any other general note regarding this scenario?
    Thanks in advance. Comments appreciated.

    Hi,
    I guess when you've the informations that the SAP can read and take some action, has to be asynchronous (from non-SAP to FSCM);
But when the credit analysis is done by non-SAP and like an 'Experian', SAP send the informations with invoices paid and not paid and this non-SAP group give a rate for this customer. All banks and big companies in the world does the same. And for this, you've the synchronous interface. This interface will updated the FSCM-CR (Credit), blocking or not the vendor, decreasing or increasing them limit amount to buy.
So, for these 1.000 sales orders, you'll have to think with PI in how to create an interface for this volume? What parameters SAP does has to check? There's an time interval to receive and send back? Will be a synchronous or asynchronous?
Contact your PI to help think in this information exchange.
Am I clear in your question?

  • Best Practice For Display Description and getting Id from  af:selectOneChoice

    HI Experts,
I have a table DeptTable with the two attributes. 1) DeptId and 2)DeptName
I want to diplay List of all DeptName in <af:selectOneChoice component. and in backingbean or managedbean I want to get
corresponding DeptId for Selected DeptName in <af:selectOneChoice.
To be precise, IN UI I want to see -
    Dept A
    Dept B
    Dept C
And in bean I want to get-
    101
    102
    103.
If I select DeptA I want to get 101.
Therefore what is the best practice to achieve it.
    Regards,

    CJ,
I vote for solution 1 as it's just your use case. As you said you what to update the his_status_id and her_status_id through the by selecting a STATUSES.short_txt_descr by a drop down. This is exactly the LOV solution.
ViewLinks are used fro master detail navigation (which you don't do here) and Joining the data make it difficult to update (and you still need a LOV for the drop down box.

  • Best practice for displaying calling party ID

I have several different office codes in a CM 4.0. I need to prepend the area code and first two digits to the actual 5 digit extension for outgoing caller ID. I am doing this by setting External Phone Number Mask on each line and telling my route group to use that value. Is this the best way to display caller ID in this situation?

You can do this any way you want. You can check ext. ph number mask and set the mask on each phone. If you dont want to do this (too much work), you can set the prefix at the route pattern or route list level. route list level overrides route pattern level.

  • Best practice for displaying an image

    Hello everybody,
I have an application that displays and animates several
images and I was wondering what was the best way to improve
    performance.
    Is it better:
    - to create a Bitmap object, put it in the display list and
    then move it around
    - create a Sprite, do a graphics.beginBitmapFill and a
drawRect, and then animate this Sprite.
Using one method or the other doesn't make a big difference
for me, but I was wondering if there is a difference in terms of
    performance and memory usage.
    Does anyone know ?
    Thank you.

I don't think there is currently a way to do this in Catalyst (unless you create multipe text fields). I'd suggest setting it up in Flash Builder.

  • Best practice for running multiple instances?

    Hi!
I have a MMPRPG interface that currently uses shared objects to store several pages of information per account.  A lot of users have several accounts (some as many as 50 or more) and may access only one or several different game servers..  I am building a manager application in air to manage them and plan on putting all the information in several sql db's.
The original authors obviously had no idea what the future held.  Currently players have a separate folder for each account, with a copy of the same swf application in EACH folder.  So if a player has 20 accounts, he manually opens 20 instances of the same swf (or projector exe, based on personal prefrence).  I have spent the last year or so tinkering with the interface, adding functionality, streamlining, etc, and have gathered a large following of supporters.
Each account is currently a complete isolated copy of a given interface (there are several different ones out there. It could shape up to be quite a battle)   In order to remedy this undesireable situation, I have replaced the login screen with a controller.  The question now is how to handle instansiating each account. The original application simply replaced the login screen with the main application screen in the top application container at login.
My main (first) question is: If I replace the login screen with a controller is it more economical to have the controller open a window for each account and load an instance of the required classes or  to compile the main application and load instances of the swf?
Each account can have up to 10 instances of about 30 different actionscript classes that get switched in and out of the main display.  I need to be able to both send and receive events between each instance and the main controller.
I tenatively plan on using air to open windows, and simply alter the storage system using shared objects to storing the same objects in an sql table.
Or should that be 1 row per account?   I am not all that worried about the player db, since it is basically file storage, but the shared db will be in constant use, possibly  from several accounts. (Map and player data is updated constantly)  I am not sure yet how I plan to handle updating that one.
I am at the point now where all the basic groundwork is laid, and the controller (though still rough around the edges) stands ready to open some accounts...  Had the first account up and running a couple days ago, but ran into trouble when the next one tried to access what used to be static infoirmation...  The  next step is to build some databases and I need to get it right the first time.  Once I release the app and it writes a db to the users machine, I do not want to have to change it
I am an avid listener and and an eager student.  (I have posted here before under the name eboda_kcuf but was notified a few weeks ago that it was not acceptable in the forums....)  I got some great help from Alex amd a few others, so I am sure you can help me out here.
After all, you guys are the pro's! just point me in the right direction....
Oh, almost forgot:  I use flashbuilder 4.5, sdk 4.5.1

  • Best practices for Calling Multiple Business Services in OSB

    Hi All,
I have a requirement where I need to call multiple business services in OSB. We are presently calling them sequentially in a proxy pipeline. I was wondering if we could accomplish the same task in a better way. Each of the business services are mutually exclusive.
    Thanks in Advance,
    Rudraksh

    Hi Eric,
Thanks for the response. We figured that it is possible to call multiple services with Split Join. However, we ran into the issue you described. We had a blocking call and had to wait until each of the services returned a response.
However, we needed a Async model for our design and felt that this might not be a right fit.
We are now looking at implementing the publish option with QoS configured as this fits our usecase better. Thanks for the help again.

  • Best practice for linking fields from multiple entity objects

I am currently transitioning from PHP to ADF. I'm looking for the best practice for linking data from multiple entity objects.
    Example:
EO 'REQUESTS' has fields: req_id, name, dt, his_stat_id, her_stat_id
EO 'STATUSES' has fields: stat_id, short_txt_descr
'REQUESTS' is linked to EO 'STATUSES' on: STATUSES.stat_id = REQUESTS.his_status_id
'REQUESTS' is also linked to EO 'STATUSES' on: STATUSES.stat_id = REQUESTS.her_status_id
    REQUESTS.his_status_id is independent of REQUESTS.her_status_id
    When I create a VO for REQUESTS, I want to display: REQUESTS.name, REQUESTS.dt, STATUSES.short_txt_descr (for his_stat_id), STATUS.short_txt_descr (for her_stat_id)
What is the best practice for accomplishing this? It appears I could do it a few different ways:
    1. Create the REQUESTS VO with a LOV for his_stat_id and her_stat_id
    2. Create the REQUESTS VO with the join to STATUSES performed within the query for the VO. This would require joining on the STATUSES EO twice (his_stat_id, her_stat_id)
    3. I just started reading about View Links - would that somehow do what I'm looking for?
I also need to be able to update his_status_id and her_status_id through the by selecting a STATUSES.short_txt_descr from a dropdown.
Any suggestions on how to approach such a stupidly simple task?
Using jDeveloper 11.1.2.2.0 if that makes a difference in the solution.
    Thanks ahead of time,
    CJ

  • Best Practice for Multiple iTunes and One Account?

My wife and I share our account for our iPhone Applications and Songs in iTunes.
Can someone point me to a topic that covers a best practice for multiple iTunes syncing?
I travel a lot and keep my iPhone synced to my Macbook Pro while she uses the workstation at home to sync to. We keep the addresses and contacts and calendars synced through MobileMe, however, I'm trying to find the best way of pushing applications and songs I've bought over to the other PC so they're still around while I'm traveling for her to sync with.
    Thoughts?

    Hi Steve,
Might be trying for solution for a long time, If i understood your question clear let me clarify you few points.
You are trying to access the bex query which is designed with the exit's in the background based on the logic and trying to call the entire dimensions and key-figures in a single connection. Then you are trying to map those data in the charts.
Steve, try to make more connections based upon the logic and split them. use the same query but split them by sales per customer group, sales per day, sales per week by making three different connections and try. You can merge the prompts from all connections.
    Hope this Helps!!!
Sorry if i misunderstood your question.

  • Best practice for test reports location -multiple installers

    Hi,
What is recommended best practice for saving test reports with multiple installers of different applications:
For example, if I have 3 different teststand installers: Installer1, Installer2 and Installer3 and I want to save test reports of each installer at:
    1. C:\Reports\Installer1\TestReportfilename
    2. C:\Reports\Installer2\TestReportfilename
    3. C:\Reports\Installer3\TestReportfilename
How could I do this programatically as to have all reports at the proper folder when teststand installers are deployed to a test PC?
    Thanks,
    Frank

There's no recommended best practice for what you're suggesting. The example here shows how to programmatically modify a report path. And, this Knowledge Base describes how you can change a report's filepath based on test results.

  • Best Practices for multiple authors using single project?

We are having many issues, particularly with moving, renaming, and multiple check out warnings.  We have a single project with many authors and it seems like RH is not designed to work that way. There is an article in the RH devnet-archive in an article entitled "Sharing RoboHelp Project Among Multiple Authors" that says"
"At first there may be the temptation to let every author work on every file in a project.  This is certainly not a best practice. Regardless of source contraol, it is always best to designate certain authors as owning certain content-related sections, folders, or topics within a project -particulary at the folder level."
This statement, and our experience seems to indicate that RH is not a true CMS as we had envisioned.  What are the best practices for this scenario to avoid stepping on each others toes and having problems with source control.

I have moved this to the source control forum for the gurus there to answer.
Meantime I must admit I read that statement the same way as you first time. However, on rereading I think what the author is saying is not that what you want cannot be done, rather it is best practice to guide authors to work in discrete areas.
I will leave it to the author or another guru to give you a more complete answer.
