  • Start of new Financial Year

    Dear Sir,
    Kindly guide us about the various steps which need to be performed to start a new financial year .
    We assure to give full points for the suggested solution pl .

    Hello Sonia,
    Fiscal year tells how many posting periods and how many special periods you need and how the system is to determine the posting periods when posting. When you define your fiscal year you should keep in mind whether it is
    - Calendar Year
    - Calendar year but is not year dependent
    - Non Calendar year but is year dependent
    Configuration: There are standard variants like K4, V3 etc you can copy and change the description and save it.
    1. Spro>FA>****>Fiscal year>Maintain fiscal year dependent (TC:OB29)
    2. Assign Co code to Fiscal year variant (TC:OB37)
    Thanks

  • Is it a best practice to have a template with one master page?

    I am a newbie FM 11 writer and am cleaning up some unorganized books. Should I copy one set of Master Pages to all files in the book. Currently my TOC and certain other files have unique master pages. I would like to set up our books using best practices and would like input from the community. Thanks.

    There are two schools of thought on this. The specific sub-template approach or the "kitchen sink" approach.
    In the "kitchen sink" (i.e. everything, including the...) approach, the FM template is loaded with everything required for the project in a single file. It's simple to deploy, import it to all files and you're good to go. However, the author may have to deal with all sorts of superfluous tags and page layouts in some specific file types, like the cover pages, TOC, Index and other generated files. The onus is on the author to select the correct items to use from the multitude of choices.
    The sub-template approach is modular approach where one creates the various components in separate template files, e.g. paragraph and character tags, tables, page layouts, etc. and combines to create specific templates for the various book components. These component-combined templates only have the minimum that is required for each type of document component. This is a lego-like approach and it provides more flexibility (IMHO) with modifying, updating and creating new templates. This is easier (perhaps less intimidating would be a better term) for the author to use as their choices are much more limited in any given context. However, they do have to apply the correct templates to the specific book components.
    In all cases, you need to document the usage of all components in the template(s), so authors will know the intent of each and every tag, table, sttyle, page layout, etc.

  • Best practices to have several BO on the same MO ?

    Hi,
    We'd like to have several BOs on the ACCOUNT MO, each BO triggering its own set of business rules.
    What are the best practices for it ? Inheritance with a GenericAccount BO (DetermineBO on MO ACCOUNT) and several child MOs? What are the pitfalls to avoid ?
    Thanks,
    Fabien

    FabienHi,
    You can have any number of BOs for an MO based on your requirement. However, when it comes to inheritence Oracle recommends to not to have more than 2 - levels of BO heirarchy. If additional level is a real necessity, ensure that it is very well documented and tested if you want to avoid nightmares in the future.

  • Best practice to have cache and calclockblock setting?

    Hi,
    I want to implement hyperion planning.
    What should be the best practice to set essbase settings for optimize performance?

    Personally, I would work out the application design before you consider performance settings. There are so many variables involved that to try to do it upfront is going to be difficult.
    That being said each developer has their own preferred approach and some will automatically add certain expressions into the Essbase.cfg file, set certain application level settings via EAS (Index Cache, Data Cache, Data File Cache).
    There are many posts discussing these topics in this forum so suggest you do a search and gather some opinions.

  • Where is the best practice to have the controlling logic in scenarios....

    The following steps need to executed in the system:
    1> Need to store the data that User has selected in the screens that he has visited till now (selecting data is not part of this step 1 for now); focus of step 1 is there is some data which needs to be stored in session.
    2> After keeping data in session, the system needs to check and if current user's account is Not created then force the user to create user account;
    3> The system then checks If user is Not logged in. If not forces the user to login;
    4> Process the data that has been searched and selected in step 1;
    EJBs are used for providing the solution;
    Now, the problem i have been having is where should the controlling logic (basically the block which invokes the above 4 steps in sequence) needs to be sitting?
    Should it be in the EJB tier or WEB tier?
    If we decide to store the data in the session bean, Should data get stored in session bean and then should control go back to front controller servlet in web tier;
    Should the enclosing function making checks for steps 2 and 3 and followed by invoking the step 4 be in Front controller servlet or in business delegate or in stateful session bean?
    Any thoughts or any useful links to let me know what is feasible / not feasible.
    I mean, whether such controlling logic which requires ui to be brought up and then control come back can never be sitting in session bean -- is feasible or not.
    Thanks in advance.

    (Assuming you mean Essex in the UK), go here https://selfsolve.apple.com/GetWarranty.do and enter your iPod's serial number to start with. (Change the country in the drop-down menu if you're not in the UK.) This will guide you to an Authorised Apple Service Provider (AASP) local to you.

  • Best Practice to move OSX + Bootcamp W7 to new MacBook

    Hi,
    I've just bought a new MBP and want to shift everything from my existing one onto it.
    On my current Mac I have OSX + a Windows 7 64bit Bootcamp partition with all the associated settings, programs etc.
    Obviously the Mac side has migration assistant and I will use that to shift all the OSX stuff, but what is the nearest eqivalent for the W7 stuff.
    Following MS links on the web takes me to a video showing how to do an 'easy transfer' in W7, with a special 'easy transfer USB cable I have to buy from, well, you can guess who, etc etc, all of which enables me to copy files, folders and program settings, but very far from the complete account transfer, including aplications, that migration assistant gives by the looks of it.
    W7 does have an internal 'Easy Windows Transfer' utility to transfer from one machine to another, but what is not clear is whether I need to have W7 on both machines, given that I have Purchased W7 to go on the Bootcamp partition of my old MacBook and want to use that same copy of W7 on the new one, I will have to deactivate.
    From what I understand Carbon Copy Cloner, Super Duper! etc all only work on the OSX side - or am I wrong on that, is there one that can do both?
    So dear Mac users, what is the best way? Who has travelled this path successfully (and simply) recently?
    Thanks for any assistance.
    Stephen

    Windows Easy Transfer Advanced options and make sure to show hidden folders and custom so you can copy AppData
    Reinstall Windows and apps you will have a new motherboard and that insures you don't have older drivers and issues
    As long as it is retail you can reinstall on new hardware
    The cable is for PC to PC or Mac to Mac I suppose but never used it.

  • Can you have audio automatically start when new page is loaded

    I was wondering if iWeb allows you to set up an audio file to be played automatically when someone loads a certain page.
    Thanks for your help

    You are using iWeb 1.1.2. No problem.
    As long as you don't mind doing a little post publish editing of your .js files, it's fairly easy to do. You will find them in this path on your iDisk, using the Go menu in Finder:
    Go/iDisk/MyiDisk/Sites/iWeb/Nameofsitefolder/Page_filesFolder/Page.js
    Open the .js files for that particular page on your iDisk with any text editor (I like Taco, and it's free) and make the following changes to the script code that controls your movie: (you will find the movie code near the top of the page in the .js file)
    Change autoplay="false" to autoplay="true"
    Change loop="false" to loop="true"
    Changing controller value="true" to controller value="false" will remove the controller from the page entirely. Make these changes in both sets of tags, (object and embed).
    Make the changes and just "Save". Clear your browser cache and you should see the changes take effect immediately. Bear in mind you will have to make this modification each time you republish your site. You can also save this modified .js file and replace the republished file with it, as long as no other changes were made to the page in iWeb.

  • Best Practice - Order Types for Consumers

    I was curious what the best practice is for entering orders within the CRM Interaction Center.   Do you have a separate order type within the CRM system and pass it to the SAP system for "Consumer" orders and then have a different order type that is defined in the ECC system for distributor/wholesale orders?
    We are trying to determine if it is best practice to have a separate order type for consumer orders or not.
    Any help on this topic would be greatly appreciated.
    Thanks,
    Darcie

    Hello Darcie,
    I received the following guidance from one of our CRM consulting practice managers at SAP:
    "My recommendation to customers is that they separate out the number ranges and order types.  Especially if they are being created via different sales channels.  The reason is two-fold:
    1. Gives greater visibility to what is created in one channel vs another channel (easy to report by order/document type and visually, someone would see an order that starts with 7 and know that itu2019s for consumers whereas one that starts with a 4 would be for wholesale accounts).
    2. Even if the order/document types behave the exact same way today, they may want the flexibility to be able to change how a consumer order behaves without affecting the wholesale orders.  They could always add the new order type later, of course, but itu2019s easier to set that structure in place now."

  • Facelets template best practices

    Hi,
    As I gain more experience in JSF, I am doing things a bit differently. When I first started I was binding all components to a backing bean and using the component binding in code for various things such as multi component validation. Later I used only value bindings, and had a lot of configuration in the template:
    <select id="country" jsfc="h:selectOneMenu" value="#{user.countryCode}" validator="#{someBackingBean.country_validate}" required="true" requiredMessage="#{theme_messages['field.country']} #{theme_messages['word.required']}">
        <f:selectItems value="#{someBackingBean.countryItems}"/>
    </select>I modified that example from real code, so it might make more sense to use a converter than a validator for a country code... But anyway, there is a lot of per component configuration in my templates. When I create multiple themes/skins, this stuff has to be duplicated. When I make changes to the application, all themes have to be updated.
    I think Wicket encourages you to bind all components to the "backing bean" and do your configuration in code. Your equivalent template would look something like this:
    <select id="country" jsfc="h:selectOneMenu" binding="#{someBackingBean.countryDropDown}">
        <f:selectItems value="#{someBackingBean.countryItems}"/>
    </select>You might even leave the f:selectItems out of the template. The only challenge I foresee with this is that using JSF APIs to resolve EL to add a validator, converter, action, or whatever else into the component from code is very verbose and difficult. I asked the JSF expert group to enhance the APIs to make it easier to do everything in code, but it did not make the JSF 2.0 spec. They will consider it in a future release: [JSF API Ticket 363|https://javaserverfaces-spec-public.dev.java.net/issues/show_bug.cgi?id=363]
    Can anyone share their experiences with facelets template complexities and best practices they have learned? If you do most of your component configuration in code, how much of it do you allow in the template? Do you allow value bindings? The f:selectItems tag?
    Thanks,
    Ryan

  • Database best practice: max number of columns

    I have two questions that I would appreciate comments on...
    We have a table titled TRANSACTION with 160 columns and a view titled TRANSACTIONS_VIEW with 233 columns in it. This was designed by someone a while ago. I am wondering if it is against best practice to have this many columns in a table? I have never before seen a table with this many columns in it and feel that there must be a way to split the data into multiple tables to make it more manageable.
    My second question is on partitions, the above table TRANSACTION is partitioned by manually specifying partitions with max values on the transaction date starting august 2008 through january 2010 at 1 month increments. Isn't it much better to specify automatic partitioning using the interval clause?

    kev374 wrote:
    thanks for the response, yes there are many columns that violate 3NF and that is why the column count is so high.
    Regarding the partition question, by better I meant by using "interval" the partitions could be created automatically at the specified interval instead of having to create them manually.The key is to understand the logic behind these tables and columns. Why it was designed like this, if it's business requirement then 200 some columns are not bad, if it's design flaw 20 columns could be too much. It's not necessarily always good to have strict 3NF design, sometime for various reason you can denormalize the tables to get better performance.
    As to partitioning Q, you have to do the rolling window (drop/add partition as time goes by) type of partitioning scheme manually so far.

  • [Beginner] Best practice Backing Bean, DataBinding

    Hi everybody,
    I followed an oracle course in November 'Oracle Fusion Middleware 11g: Build Applications with ADF I'
    Great, now I know what are the different parts of the framework.
    But now I'd like to go a bit in depth.
    Here is a simple example
    Login page
    Backing Bean
    Session Bean
    Read only View Object (select from view)
    Application module
    We have a username and password in a table but the password is encrypted in the column, in fact this is the checksum of the password.
    Here is what should be done.
    Login page (username, password) --> proceed button --> get data from VO --> compare usernames --> transform password coming from the login page (MD5) --> compare it to the database password -->
    setting params to session bean --> redirecting to login2 page.
    Here is what I have actually
    I have a tuned AM with a java class having a method doLogin(String username, String password) with a String return value.
    This method is exposed to the UI via a client interface.
    Here are my questions.
    Where do I have to check and transform all those params. In the Read Only VO via a tuned Java class extending ViewRowImpl or in the tuned AM java class ??
    And now for the session bean where do I have to instanciate it. In the Backing Bean I suppose.
    Wouldn't it be better to call the client interface from the backing bean, then instanciate the session bean, with params coming from the AM, in that BackBean.
    I have so many question that I don't know where to begin. :-(
    Kind Regards for your help.
    Stessy Delcroix

    Hi Frank,
    thanks for your response.
    Now where do I have to implement the logic behind the login.
    I explain a bit the application.
    We have coordinator and partner who can connect to the website.
    If a coordinator didn't change the passwords for both coordinator and partner, the partner cannot login.
    And a message will be displayed on the login page.
    If the username or password is not correct, another message will be displayed.
    Now how to return the params of the query ??
    Do I have to implement the logic at the AM level or at the VO level ??
    I mean calling findViewObject in the AM, play with the result of the query, implement the logic and return the params that will have to be set in a session bean
    Here is the query we have
    SELECT A.PASSWORD, A.TYPE, A.PROPOSAL_ID, R.CALL_ID, R.INSTRUMENT_ID, R.ONLINE_PREPARATION, A.STATUS, I.ANNEXES_UPLOAD, C.SINGLE_PARTNER, I.REFEREE_FUNCTIONALITY, A.REFEREE_ID, I.INSTRUMENT_CODE, C.TWO_PARTB_FUNCTIONALITY, C.STAGE_TYPE, EIL.SETUP_TYPE, C.CALL_CODE, I.MANDATORY_ANNEXES " +
                   " FROM EPSS_CREDENTIALS_VIEW A, EPSS_REGISTRATION R, EPSS_INSTRUMENT I, EPSS_CALL C, EPSS_INSTRUMENT_LIST EIL" +
                   " WHERE (USERNAME = ? AND A. PROPOSAL_ID = R. PROPOSAL_ID AND R.INSTRUMENT_ID = I.INSTRUMENT_ID AND C.CALL_ID = R.CALL_ID AND I.INSTRUMENT_CODE = EIL.INSTRUMENT)
    All the values except Password will be set in a session bean.
    I know that question is a bit annoying, but I don't want to start implementing things in the wrong way. And having dependencies between layers.
    That's strange that no best practices examples have been published yet.
    Thanks a lot for your precious help.
    Regards,
    Stessy

  • Dealing with Drobo (best practices?)

    I have two second generation Data Robotics Drobos, and have been using them under 10.6 on a MacBook via USB. Like many Drobo users, I have had various "issues" over the years, and even suffered 1TB of data loss probably related to the USB eject bug that was in Mac OS X 10.6.5-10.6.7. I have also used the Drobos on a Mac with FireWire.
    My Drobos are set up as 1TB volumes, so my 4x2TB unit shows six 1TB volumes. Using DiskWarrior on some of my volumes has reported "speed reduced by disk malfunction" and DW was unable to rebuild the directory. I fear for my data, so I have been in the process of moving data away from the drive and starting fresh.
    I would like to use this discussion to see what "best practices' others have come up with when dealing with a Drobo on a Mac.
    When I first set up the Drobo, the documentation stated that the unit would take longer to startup if using one big partition, so I chose the smallest value -- 1TB. This initially gave me a few Drobo volumes to use, and as I swapped in larger hard drives, Drobo would start adding more 1TB volumes. I like this approach, since it lets me unmount volumes I am not using (so iMovie does not have to find every single "iMovie Events" I have across 12TB of drives).
    This was also a good way to protect my data. When my directory structure crashed, and was unrepairable, I only lost 1TB of data. Had that happened on a "big" volume Drobo, I would have lost everything.
    Data Robotics own KB articles will tell you to never use Disk Utility to partition a Drobo, but other KB articles say this is what you must do to use TimeMachine... Er? And, under 10.7, they now say don't do that, even for TimeMachine. Apparently, if your parititoned under 10.6 or earlier, you can still use your TimeMachine backup under 10.7, but if you are 10.7 only, you have to use some Time Tamer utility and create a sparsebundle image -- and then you cannot browse TimeMachine backups (what good is that, then?).
    It's a mess.
    So I am looking for guidance, tips, suggestions, and encouragement. I will soon be resetting one of my Drobos and starting fresh, then after I get everything working again, I will move all my data over to it, and reset my second Drobo.

    I have been trying to do either.
    right now i have the images download when the cell is created and then stored into an NSMutable Array. the array is initially populated with a NSString value of the url to the image. I then test to see if the object at the current TableView index is a UIIimage, If not i download the image and replace the existing NSString with the UIImage in the array.
    -(UIImage*) newUIImageWithURLString:(int)urlString
    if (![[imgarr objectAtIndex:urlString] isKindOfClass: [UIImage class]])
    NSLog(@"image not there");
    UIImage *img2get = [[UIImage alloc] initWithData:[NSData dataWithContentsOfURL:[NSURL URLWithString:[imgarr objectAtIndex:urlString]]]];
    [imgarr replaceObjectAtIndex:urlString withObject:img2get];
    [img2get release];
    return [imgarr objectAtIndex:urlString];
    Works fairly well but does stall the scrolling when i download the image because i am calling it like this in the cellForRowAtIndexPath.
    UIImage *cellimage = [self newUIImageWithURLString:indexPath.row];
    cell.image = cellimage;
    I am looking into using a background process for the actual downloading so as not to interfere with the table operations. have you any thoughts on the best way to this?
