  • Best Practice for New Doc Version?

I'm a RH novice who needs to create a V1.1 doc based on the
V1.0 source topics, TOC, and images. I'm using RH HTML X5. What is
my best practice? The previous author left a unclear doc suggesting
    something like the following:
Copy the current V1.xpj, V1.hhc, and V1.hhp files and rename
    them as V1.1.xpj, V1.1.hhc, and V1.1hhp
Place the renamed files in the V1 root directory and open the
    V1.1.xpj file.
    Create and edit new content
Not understanding RH too well, this seemed reasonable. It
appears what he is suggesting will bring everything forward in a
new project, but leave the V1 structure intact. I tried this, and
it seemed to be working but I was confused by RH also making
changes to the OLD V1.cpd and V1.pss (I don't know that those files
    are).
So, apparently the copied files contain references to at
least the old cpd and pss files (and maybe others). I'm concerned
that continuing down this path will corrupt V1 and leave me
mis-matched conventions. Some files being V1, and some being V1.1.
Is there a how-to somewhere that can help me create a new
version and not muddy up the old? Do any X5 gurus remember how they
    did this?
    Thanks in advance,
    Keith

    Peter,
Hopefully you'll see this. I tried you suggestion. Opened the
old file and renamed the project. About 10 links came up broken
that weren't broken before. Any ideas why this would happen. I
didn't make any changes other than the rename.
    Thanks,
    Keith

  • Best Practice for sugar refinery process

hello, my company need to deploy a new business concerning raw sugar refinery.
so we need to analyze the business requirements and propose a process for refinery management  .
step 1: arrival of goods in docks
step 2: raw sugar need to be charged in our stock ( quantity and value ) but is not  our property
step 3: goods need to be delivered to our plant ( we pay the transport as service for our business partner )
step 4: goods need to be verified ( for quality and quantity ) and accepted by operators
step 5: goods are processed in a refinery plant, we need to verify timing, costs, quantity and human resources employed ( for costs remittance and transfer  )
step 6: sugar is delivered to other industrial plants, warehouse and finally sold ( but is not our property ), for us it's like a refinery service.
step 7: we need to trace production lot from raw sugar arrival to the docks up to step 6 .
step 8: inventory and  maintenance costs need to be traced because our profit is a part of this refinery service reduced by costs incurred
any suggestions to find the right best practice ?
I'm not a skilled BPS, I was looking for oil refinery but  is not the same process, so.. what can i look for?

    Hi Kumar,
In order to have Consigment in SAP u need to have master data such as material master, vendor master and purchase inforecord of consignment type. U have to enter the item category k when u enter PO. The goods receipt post in vendor consignment stock will be non valuated.
    1. The intial steps starts with raising purchase order for the consignment item
    2. The vendor recieves the purchase order.
    3. GR happens for the consignment material.
    4. Stocks are recieved and placed under consignment stock.
    5. When ever we issue to prodn or if we transfer post(using mov 411) from consignment to own stock then liability occurs.
    6. Finally comes the settlement using mrko. You settle the amount for the goods which was consumed during a specific period.

  • Best Practice in Accounts Payable Processing

    Guys,
Would just like to know best practice (or your practice) in Accounts Payable Invoice Processing if its 100% MIRO (3 way match PR-PO-GR) or part MIRO and part Direct Bill?
Our situation is that, the owner of our PR/PO process is the Procurement Department and all of the transaction goes to them are process through MIRO.  However there are some puchases and contracts that they are not involve and they dont allow us to use PR and PO (MIRO) process since they are not involved in the negotiation. This transaction we end up paying through direct bill process (manual).
    Appreciate assistance.
    Thank you!

    Hi,
For manual payments we implemented the approval process using workflows.
    Hope this helps!

  • Best practice for identifying BPEL process boundary

    Hi
Want to know if there is any best practices / guidelines available to identify how many BPEL processes are required.. I assume once we do a process decomposition we might arrive at an abstract business process boundary.
However, I also think those processes can be further broken down while actually implementing them using BPEL PM?
Is there any guidelines that I can use or follow to specify how many BPEL process to define

  • Best practices to design OWB Process Flows

    Hi All,
I am using OWB to develop historical data warehouse. For this I have created few mappings that load data from source tables to staging tables and then from staging to target tables.
Now I am designing process flows to execute these mappings. Can someone suggest me what are the best practices to design process flows?
I have few questions in my mind that I am looking answers for:
    1) Should I keep the mapping to load staging and target tables in different process flows or in one?
    2) Do I need to include an email activity for each mapping failure or in other words how can I integrate all mapping errors in one email?
    3) I am using two outgoing transitions from each mapping; one for success and another unconditional, is that right method or I should use three transitions one for success, one for warning and one for error?
    4) I have created some email activity templates that I am using in process flows. For development environment I have used test from_address and to_address. But when I actually deploy these process flows in production, these addresses will need to be changed. Will I need to change these address individually in each process flow or in other words what is the best way to deploy process flows?
I am using 10gR2 database and OWB.
    Any help will be appreciated.
    Thanks,

  • Best practice for increasing image processing speed

Are there best practises for efficient image processing so that the overall perfomance speed will be improved? I have a need to do near real time image processing (threshold, filtering, particle analysis/cleaning and measurements) at 10fps. So far I am not satisfied with my cycle time so I am wondering if there are documented ways to speed up performance.

  • Design Choices and is LiveCycle needed? best practices for using RTMP/AMF over HTTP/XML communicatio

    Hi,
I am new to flex/RIA. I am exploring different design choices especially in client server communication. On client side we will be using Flash based RIA (using Actions scripts).
There will be some simple forms (like for login, registration, payments etc) and some simple reports including with several graphs and charts. Each chart might have 1000 to 1500 data points etc. There are not video or audio content as such. On server side we have Servlets, java API and some EJBs to provide the business logic and real time prices/content (price update is usually every 10 seconds) /data. Some of the content will be static as well.
I have following questions in my mind. Is it worth it to use RTMP/AMF channels for the followings?
    1. For simple forms processing (Mapping Actions scripts classes to Java classes). Like to display/retrieve/update data for/from registration forms.
    a. If yes, why? Am I going to be stuck with LCDS? Is it worth it? What could be the cons for heavy usage/traffic scenarios
    b. If not what are the alternates? Should I create the web services? Or only servlets are sufficient (ie. Only HTTP+Java based server side with no LCDS+RTMP+AMF)? All forms need to communicate on secure channel.
    2. For pushing the real time prices/content which we may need to update every 15 seconds on user interface using graphs and charts. Can I do it with some standard J2EE/JMS way with RIA (Flex) on front-end? i.e. Flash application will keep pulling data from some topic. Data can be updated after few secs or few minutes which cant be predicted.
    3. Are there any scalability issues for using RTMP? What happens if concurrent users increase 10 times within a year?
    4. What are the real advantages of using RTMP/AMF instead of simple HTTP/HTTPS probably using xml based objects
    5. Do I need to use LCDS if I am using AMF only on client side? Basically I mean if I am sending an object in form of xml from a servlet. Can some technology in Flash (probably AMF) in client side map it an Action script object?
    6. What are the primary advantages of using LCDS in a system? Is there any alternate solutions? Can I use some standard solutions for data push technologies?
I would like that my server side implementation can be used by multiple types of clients e.g. RIA browser based, mobile based, third party software (any technology) etc.
I appreciate if you can kindly refer me to some reading materials which can help me deciding the above. If this is not the right place to post this message then please do refer me to the place where I can post such questions.
    Thanks and Kind regards,
    Jalal

    Hi Jalal,
Let me see if I can help with some of your questions
    1. Yes, you can use LCDS for simple forms processing. Any time you want to
move data between the Flex client and the server, LCDS (or its free Open
source cousin BlazeDS) is going to help. I would expect you would use the
mx:RemoteObject MXML tag to invoke server side code, passing it the form
data input by the application user.
    2. If you need to push near real-time data, LCDS gives you the RTMP channel
which can scale quite nicely. You can then use the mx:Consumer MXML tag to
subscribe the clients to the messages, which can come from almost anywhere,
    include JMS topics or queues.
    3. RTMP (included in LCDS) is the best option for scaling to tens of
thousands of users and the LCDS servers can be clustered to proved better
    scaling.
    4. The AMF3 protocol used over the RTMP channels performs much faster than
simple XML over HTTP. See this blog posting for some tests:
    http://www.jamesward.org/census/.
    5. If you are sending a Flex application XML, then I would recommend using
the E4X API to work with the XML. This is a pretty nice and powerful way to
work with XML. If you want Actionscript objects (and probably better
performance), then using AMF serialization to Actionscript objects is the
    way to go.
    6. Primary advantages? There are many, but mainly you can avoid thinking
about the plumbing and concentrate on solving your application and business
    logic problems.
Hope this helps you a little

  • Best practice when using auto complete in view layer

    Hello
I have a question regarding best way to store/cash data when using auto complete function in view layer.
I know that there will be a lot of visitors that will use this function and I dont want to kill the application server so I need some advice.
Its about 6000 words that should be searchable .... my first thought was to create a Singleton-bean that stores current items and that I will iterate over but its a lot of "waste" doing that way.
I would be very glad if anyone could advice me how to do this best way if there is any de-facto standard to use when using auto completion in "view layer"
    Thanks!
    Best Regards/D_S

I dont know what your design is, but here are some ideas:
To me, autocomplete means you have some user specific data that the user entered prevously such as their home address, and some generic data that is not specific to any particular user. I would store all that in a database. For the user specific data I would store their userID along with the data in the database. Then, when populating a JSP page, I would call up just the data specific to that user and the generic data from the database. I would store it as an array of some type in javascript client--side. When the user clicks the autopopulate button, I would have that button call a javascript fuction that reteives the data from the javascript array and populate the various textfields. All this is done client-side so the form does not have to be re-drawn. I question why you have 6000 items. Normally, autopopulate has at most only a few dozens of items. If you still need 6000 items, I suggest adding a textfield to the form to filter what the data he needs down to a manageable amount. Example: rather than get all names from a telephone book, put a textfield on the form that allowfs an end user to enter a letter a to z such as 'b', then only fetch last names from the phone book that begins with 'b'.

  • Best solution to convert DOC to over 1000 form-fillable PDF's and apply Javascript

I need to convert over 1000 MS Word docs to PDF, and make forms interactive with the following JavaScript or other scripting needs:
40-50 fields per form, link to db connection (SQL)
command buttons to Add New (new record to db), Update (existing record based on field value), Submit (submit saved pdf file to SharePoint site-must create directory based on field name; save file as field name
form fields should be clear on open
I know this is a tall order, but if I could get some direction on code examples, that would be greatly appreciated.
I have created a db connection and coded to add new record, update record and save file to local directory based on hard coded path, but I need more dynamics on creating network path, filename using Sharepoint

I would suggest using Acrobat Pro, but Acrobat Standard 9 now includes forms creation capabilities, including adding usage rights. Acrobat can automate the form field creation process by attempting to recognize where form fields would go. You will probably have to make some corrections, but it can help speed up the process.
Adding a submit button is a simple matter, though submitting via email is often not highly reliable and is generally not secure. Consider setting up the form to submit to a web server for a much more reliable and secure system.
If you will be including the entire PDF as an attachment to an email, you will need to enable usage rights (i.e., Reader-enable) for each form if it has to work for Reader users. Reader is not normally able to save a modified document, but it can if usage rights are applied.
If you apply usage rights with Acrobat, you need to be aware of the relevant licensing restrictions. In short, if you will be deploying the form to more than 500 recipients, you may only use information from no more than 500 returned forms, including hardcopies. If fewer than 500 recipients, there are no limits.
An alternative to emailing the entire document is emailing just the form data, which does not require usage rights. The recipient can use Acrobat to import the form data into a blank form and then save/print.

  • What's the best practice to define project/processes?

    Hi all,
I'm working on a startup, I have about 18 processes and I don't know which is the best way to manage all of them.
I can create just one project with all the processes within or I can create one project per process. My main concern is in the publish & deploy of a new release of just one of those processes.
Is there any way of release a new version of just one process even if there are another 17 processes within a project?
Can I just increase the version of the process from 1.0 to 2.0 without increasing the version of the other 17 processes?
I'm working with ALBPM Engine 5.7

This is difficult, especially when it comes to utilising the timesheets; there is no out of the box solution; so the best thing to do would be to combine the ongoing projects and resources into a single instance; but then to utilise SSRS to get timesheet
reports from both instances if you need them for historical analysis.  There is no "import" facility for timesheet data.

  • Best practice for credit card processing??

    Hello,
Our application processes credit card transactions. For whatever reason recently double charges have been happening despite our clients stating they are not submitting the data twice. It kinda doesn't really matter what the cause is as we need a solid server side solution to never let double transactions occur. I have thought of a few methods but I'd very much appreciate someone else's opinion/experience on this. Whatcha think! Many thanks.
We are using coldfusion 8 with SQL Server 2008.
    Patrick

My suggestion is to 1) pick a reliable gateway and 2) pick a gateway that allows for pre-settlement auditing.
Double posting is a fact of life when two applications interface to each other. You want a reliable gateway to minimize the occurrence. Because double postings can occasionally occur, I always recommend pre-settlement auditing to make sure application A balances with application B.
A gotcha in the payments industry is when you double post, you get dinged a discount rate and transaction fees -- something like 2.00% + $0.35 as an example. If the double post makes it through interchange, and you need to refund one of the transactions back to the customer, you don't get the original fees back and you will most likely be dinged additional transaction fees (the $0.35 in sample rate). Using my rate example, if your average ticket is $10, your average processing fee is $0.55 ($10 x 2% + $0.35) so a refund will cost you the $0.90 (the original fee that does not get refunded plus another $0.35 for the refund). Now if your average tick is $100, now your approaching $3 for each double posting. If you pre-audit and stop the double posts before interchange, it'll only cost you the single $0.35 fixed fee for the double auth.
Now some API's are better than others and some can stop double postings all together. I still recommend the pre-settlement auditing if notithing else, for volume trending and fraud prevention. Again, a reliable gateway should have a solid API that can prevent double-postings.

  • Best practice for sharing LOV's over multiple Application Definitions?

We want to define/generate (complex) LOV's in 1 place and use them in multiple sub-applications (different application definition files).
What is the best practive to accomplish this?
    Frank

    Frank,
    Here is what you do:
    - Generate the LOV the "normal" way using your first app def file
    - In all other app def files, you create a "dummy" LOV group by the same name with the same items, so you can associate items with the LOV and specifiy return values
    - For each "dummy" LOV group uncheck the checkboxes "Generate Pages", "Generate Page Definitions" and "Generate Controller Group". (only visible in expert mode)
    - Make sure you first generate the first app def file before you run the [ages generated by other app def files.

  • Multiple view state best practice for IOS packaged app - Tabbed view or blank template?

    TabbedViewNavigatorApplication or plain Application?
I have an iPad app that has a fairly complex main view.  Has lots of view state changes.  Before a user can get to that main view, however, they have to go through two other screens:
    1.  Authentication
    2.  Fill out and submit a small form (maybe 6 fields)
If they do those two things right, they can move on to the main view.  If they don't, they can't move on and the main view shouldn't load.
Don't want a tab bar showing in the main view.  Has to be full screen.
    My thoughts were:
    1.  Start with the tabbed view template because it's built for this.  Just figure out a way to hide bars top and bottom for main view.
    2.  Use a blank template and do everything with standarf Flex view states
    Not sure...

Or you can go with door #3, a blank template with a ViewNavigator you use to push and pop your views from the Main.
View states are heavy. Avoid them like the plague in mobile apps. They are ok for small things like buttons and such, but that's about it.
