Best Premiere sequence type for image sequences

Hi!
Lately I have been working a lot with intermediate image sequences and I'm looking for ways to improve performance.
The original footage is DVCProHD 1080p and when put it in a sequence created with the preset for that, everything runs very smoothly. But when I bring in intermediate files that were created with the same resolution, but that use PNG, Targa or Tiff instead, rendering becomes very sluggish. That makes me wonder if there maybe is a better sequence preset that I could use for playback of these image sequences? Or does the sequence preset even make a difference here?
Also, I think there are differences with the rendering speeds of different image sequence formats and that's why I'm asking which ones you guys prefer? I liked PNG because the file sizes are so small compared to TIFF or Targa, but (if I'm not imagining things) the render times seems to increase with PNG.
I welcome any discussion on the subject!

With image sequences, probably the biggest thing to address is the pixel x pixel sizes of the stills. For maximum performance (and quality in my book), I like to have those Scaled to match the Frame Size of the Project Sequence. The PNG format should be just fine, but size DOES matter. What are the pixel x pixel dimensions of your stills?
I do a lot of work with stills, but not usually in image sequences. For my work, I usually just leave the stills as PSD's, and never have any issues. These are Scaled to the Project, or only slightly larger (when I need to Pan on a Zoomed out image), and my Scaling is always done in Photoshop, prior to Import.
Good luck,
Hunt

  • Best Practice - Order Types for Consumers

I was curious what the best practice is for entering orders within the CRM Interaction Center.   Do you have a separate order type within the CRM system and pass it to the SAP system for "Consumer" orders and then have a different order type that is defined in the ECC system for distributor/wholesale orders?
We are trying to determine if it is best practice to have a separate order type for consumer orders or not.
Any help on this topic would be greatly appreciated.
    Thanks,
    Darcie

    Hello Darcie,
I received the following guidance from one of our CRM consulting practice managers at SAP:
"My recommendation to customers is that they separate out the number ranges and order types.  Especially if they are being created via different sales channels.  The reason is two-fold:
    1. Gives greater visibility to what is created in one channel vs another channel (easy to report by order/document type and visually, someone would see an order that starts with 7 and know that itu2019s for consumers whereas one that starts with a 4 would be for wholesale accounts).
    2. Even if the order/document types behave the exact same way today, they may want the flexibility to be able to change how a consumer order behaves without affecting the wholesale orders.  They could always add the new order type later, of course, but itu2019s easier to set that structure in place now."

  • Best Video File Type For iTunes and Xbox360

I have an extensive digital library and I am trying to have one file for all devices.
What I am looking to do is to have one file that can be managed by iTunes, play on my iPhone and stream to my xbox360 via Connect360 and look good. File size is not a concern. I dont want to do multiple encodes.
The important features are one file playable by iPhone and Xbox360 via Connect360 that can be managed by iTunes. I would like the video to be of very high visual / audio quality.
I use handbrake to convert video files.
My question is, what is the best file type for this scenario? I have used mv4 but more recently I am using MP4 with 264...
Again, one file to rule them all....
    Thank you in advance!

Old thread for others, but,,... It isnt necessary to convert a bunch of files, if you have Plex on your pc, and on your iphone/ipad.
I would have spent a month converting the terra bytes of all the video files that I had but i just airplay and my Plex app to send nearly any type of file on my Imac directly to my Apple tv.
It converts on the fly any file that isnt supported.

  • Cant choose file type for images when saving them from a website.

Any time I try to save an an image with "Right Click > Save as" the little dropdown bar that shows what file it will save as is completely blank. I dont get this problem with IE, just Firefox. I dont want to use IE again. Help me please

I'm stumped. The global setting really should be global.
    (By global setting I mean:
orange Firefox button ''or'' Tools menu > General > "Save files to")
I can't think of a reason that Firefox would ignore that setting just for image files if there isn't some inconsistent instruction in the Application settings.
My only other thought would be an interfering add-on. You could test in Firefox's Safe Mode to see whether that is an issue.
First, I recommend backing up your Firefox settings in case something goes wrong. See [https://support.mozilla.com/en-US/kb/Backing+up+your+information Backing up your information]. (You can copy your entire Firefox profile folder somewhere outside of the Mozilla folder.)
Next, use Help > Restart with Add-ons Disabled to restart Firefox's
[https://support.mozilla.com/kb/Safe+Mode Safe Mode]. Ignore the checkboxes and click Continue in Safe Mode. (Be careful not to "reset" anything permanently if you didn't back up.)
If the problem site(s) work, then most likely one of your add-ons has changed Firefox's normal download behavior.

  • Best JMS Message Type for XML

Which type of message is most suitable for XML file transfer? and why?
what parameters decide the selection of message type for xml payload?

You can use WebLogic's XML message type if you like. If you want to use
selector expressions then it is particularly useful, especially since your
selector expressions can run on the body of the message. However, the
implications of this are that the selectors are more expensive (both in
terms of the processing needed to evaluate the XPath expression, and in
terms of the fact that the message bodies have to be in memory to do the
              evaluation).
If you just want to transfer XML, then why not use a simple text message
              type.
              Use whatever suits your needs.
              Regards,
              Jon

  • Best output file type for further editing

Hi - I was hoping someone could help me with this. I'm making shots which composit various source material (cgi, still images, video from a Canon 7D, etc) which I intend to then edit in premiere for a final output which is as lossless as possible. The trouble is shots which are even a few seconds long render out at several Gb (thus making the final edit enormous - 30Gb+ for two minutes of footage).
I started outputting with quicktime (animation codec) but was advised to switch to targa sequences but these are pretty huge as well.
What would be the recommended output for most lossless quality?
    Thanks in advance

Welcome to the world of video compositing, where quality and file size go hand in hand.  I'm working on a project today that is a 7 minute promo video, and the current job folder is just under 1 Terabyte.  If you are serious about quality work in this field you need plenty of hard drive space.  Hard drives are ridicuously cheap these days - I can buy an uncased 2TB drive for about $80, or a USB 3 2TB for $95ish.
Quicktime Animation, Quicktime PNG and Uncompressed are common intermediate formats.  Apple users also commonly use Pro Res formats, and the Apple Intermediate Codec.

  • What is the best way to setup premiere sequence for export when mixing 24fps and 23.976fps for final

What is the best way to setup a premiere sequence for export when mixing 24fps (CG) and 23.976fps (live action) for final output at 23.976 (vimeo and such).
Right now my sequence is at 24fps, and when I export to 23.976, my dialogues seem to shift.
Should I set my sequence at 23.976fps instead of 24fps?
Thanks in advance for the help, and sincere apologies if this is a noob question.
    David

That makes it easy.  Remove the CGs from the project.  Go to Edit>Preferences>Media... and set the Indeterminate Media Timebase to 23.976.  Then when you import the image sequence, PP will assign it the correct frame rate.
    Edit in a 23.976 sequence.

  • Best way to convert my Premiere sequence, to AE (other than using prproj obviously)

I made a thread earlier, but didn't find a solution. I tried to link some Premiere sequences with AE, with blank screens and errors as a result. (probably some components in the file I've gotten rid of, or a bug). I'll pay attention to it in the future.
I can link the programs together if I convert my prproj to another format. Is there a way I can do this without losing quality? (Preferably without creating a massive file either.) Will I lose quality if I use a render file for ex?
    Thanks in advance

My Premiere sequence(s) doesn't let me link up with AE. Empty screens, on both sides as a result of using "dynamic link". (Importing project works, but I need live edit (Premiere screen directly affected by what I do with the files in AE)
I've worked around both programs and looked up online for answers with no real results. Now I'm trying to work around the system, to find a solution. Gathering the sequences and converting them into another file, will probably make AE accept the files live. I'm looking for the best way to do this.
That's what I'm trying to do here.

  • Iphoto photo import - best image type for max resolution (jpg vs tiff)

What is the recommended image type for maximum resolution of photos brought into iphoto albums, since I will be enlarging them? (ie assuming everything brought into iphoto is set/reduced to a standard resolution, then jpg might allow more digital data for later enlargement; on the other hand tiff is often recommended for best resolution though it requires more space). Thanks, - D

Thanks, Terence - OK, lets assume I shoot a 5-meg photo of a painting and adjust the paralax etc in photoshop so it is perfectly set inside the rectangular format. Now I want to import it into iphoto, knowing that I will use the crop tool to make two blow-up enlargements to go along with the original full-size image... total 3 related images of the artwork. As you mentioned these will eventually go into iweb as part of a series inside an album, with a hyperlink connecting the two enlargements to the full-size image... so viewers can tap to see finer detail and then go back to the overall composition. My question is, for the original photo image of the painting should I drag a 10-meg tiff into iphoto or a 2-meg jpg? (I do not know what importing the image into iphoto does to the original in terms of final image resolution and data size... Will a 2-meg jpg provide sufficient data to work with and enlarge via the cropping, or would the 10-meg tiff be better as a starting point? Or, if everything gets translated into a certain pre-ordained size anyway, would the tiff get watered down to, say, a 2-meg-size image anyway?) Thanks, - D

    <b><u><i>Step    Condn Table</i></u>
    10            354
    20            355

  • Best practices for image compression in dps

Hi! I have been reading up on best practices for image compression in dps, and I have read that the source assets of panoramas, image sequences, pan and zoom images, and audio skins are not resampled on upload. So you therefore need to resize them and compress them before dropping them into your article, because dps doesn't do it for you. Okay can do!
So then Im also reading that the source assets of slideshows, scrollable frames, and buttons ARE resampled as PNG images. Does this mean that DPS will compress them for you when you build the article? So does that mean I shouldn't bother going to the trouble of resizing these images at all? I can just pop in the 15mb 300dpi files used in the print magazine and dps will compress them upon building the article - and this will have no affect on file size?
And this is also the case with static background images?
    Thanks for your help!

All images are automatically resampled based on the size of the folio you make. You can drop in whatever resolution image you want, it doesn't matter.

  • Export a Premiere Sequence in Pieces

I have a Premiere sequence that is several short scenes. They fade out and in between them and have titles on each scene. I want to export and compress them as separate standalone videos for YouTube. Is there a way I can do this without individually exporting them by changing the in and out points on the timeline, or putting the scenes into separate sequences. What is the best way to handle this in the most efficient manner? Could bookmarks help?

I believe that what you want is the WAB (Work Area Bar), which will allow one to Export segments of the Timeline to discrete video files. For more info on the WAB, see this article: http://forums.adobe.com/message/5170142#5170142 Just be sure to select Work Area, when you go to Export.

  • Are the texture presets and images available in Adobe Premiere Pro free for commercial use?

Are the texture presets and images available in Adobe Premiere Pro free for commercial use (in this case, an image of a film reel is being used on a book cover)?

What the other users have said is correct. Premiere captures through FireWire or through SDI/HDMI via a 3rd party solution.
For your situation I would say the best bet is to connect you camera to your computer via USB or use a card reader and copy the entire directory to your hard drive and ingest into Premiere via Media Browser.
If you Google 'how to make stop motion in premiere pro' there are tons of great tutorials.

  • Dynamic Linking a Premiere Sequence in SB

    Using CS4 Production Suite.
I open Soundbooth, start a new multitrack file, then go to dynamic link>import premiere sequence  Then, with the Premiere Project open in another window, I select the file, then the sequence, then ok, and SB looks like it tries to do something, but inevitably every time I get a "Not Responding" as it lingers there forever.  Sometimes I get a % import bar, and it never moves from 0% before failing.  I never get an error message, it just sits there and doesn't move for 20 minutes, before I shut it down.   The project I'm importing is pretty long, and it consists of 6 audio tracks, so I thought maybe it's too big.  So I tried a 40 second sequence with one audio track, and still it crashes.
So... what's up with that?  I was kind of hoping to be able to master the audio for this film using SB, since I am using Premiere and AE, and bought this stuff thinking it all worked great together.  Which it probably does, and I'm doing something wrong.
    Someone help me please.

  • What are the best dimensions to allow for iPad 3 Retina for full-page landscape images?

What are the best dimensions to allow for iPad 3 Retina for full-page landscape images?
I read an article and cannot find it that said something about trying to make it 2million pixels and JPG to keep it small, but what exactly should the dimensions be that I ultimately import?  Is there some kind of a "density" setting I have to use, as well, when exporting from Photoshop, for example?

See Optimizing performance in your iBooks Author books
Density is discussed by Apple in this context as 'dpi'...
